Camera Profile not appearing in LR 3.2

When I click on the calibration panel and then on the profile drop-down, I see only "Adobe Standard," nothing else. I am expecting to see "Camera Standard" as well. I shoot RAW on a Pentax K-x. The K-x is a supported camera for LR 3.2. I downloaded and (successfully) installed the camera profiles.exe file that I extracted from the Elements 8.0 update from Adobe, but after doing so, the only file I see in my camera profiles folder is called index.dat (97kb). I am using a student edition of the software, if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Adobe only built special camera profiles for the more popular camera models mainly, Canon and Nikon. That said the install of Lightroom includes all the profiles available for your camera. I have two Olympus cameras and I do not have Camera standard profiles only Adobe standard.
There is a camera profile generator available through Adobe Labs which allows you to create your own profile for your camera.

  • New camera profile not "appearing" in ACR, but does in Lightroom

I recently created a camera profile for a Nikon D200, using an X-Rite Colorchecker chart photo and the Chart feature in the DNG Editor.  I exported the camera profile.  When I go to the Calibration tab in ACR 5.5, the new profile does not appear in the drop down list with the other camera profiles.  However, when I go to the Develop module in Lightroom 2.5, the new profile does appear in the drop down list there.
I am running Windows 7.  Snooping around my root drive I find that if I look within the Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles directory (referenced in the Fraser and Schewe CS4 Camera Raw book as the Vista location for the profiles) I can find no camera profiles and when I place the new profile there it still does not appear in ACR.  When I look in ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\Camera\Nikon D200    directory I can see the regular set of camera profiles for the camera, as well as the one I created, but as I previously stated, the newly created profile does not appear in the ACR list.
A side note - I did some experimentation with camera profile names.  I added "XX" to the end of the Nikon Vivid profile name (not the extension), and then that profile no longer appears in the ACR list of profiles.  I removed the extra letters and then the profile reappears in the ACR list of profiles.  Seemed odd behavior to me.  I also noticed that the profile I created with DNG Editor is noticeably smaller than the others provided by Adobe (28K compared to 110k).
Hope someone has a suggestion for me.

Your reminder about both Photoshop (main) and Bridge needing to be shut down for changes to take effect reminded me that I had Bridge set to "auto-start at log-in".  So I checked and it was still running (shown with the other hidden icons).  When I "shut it down" from the UI I had thought it was fully terminated.  So I completely shut Bridge down, restarted, and the new profile now appears.
Thanks for the reminder/pointer in the right direction.

  • Camera Profiles Not Appearing After Download

Hello all, I properly downloaded the camera profiles (shut down Lightroom, ran executable, started up Lightroom), but none of the profiles are appearing. I have Canon 20D and 30D models but also it says in Camera Calibration is "Profile: Embedded". There is no choice in the drop down menu. I am on Windows Vista with full version Lightroom 2.0. Any hints?

    >Profile: Embedded
This means you are looking at a non-RAW file such as a tiff or jpeg. The profiles only work on RAW.

I'm using windows 7, trying to download pictures from my canon 5d mark 2, but when I click import, the camera does not appear. I've tried changing USB ports, switching the camera on and off, trying a different USB cord, tried a different camera, but nothing. Please help! This problem only started a few days ago on lightroom 3.6, upgraded to 5.5, but still not working. Thanks.

Can you see the Canon EOS camera and image files using Windows Explorer? If not disconnect the camera, close all applications' shutdown Windows, and TURN OFF the power to your system and ALL connected devices. Disconnect all phones, iPads, and any other USB devices and restart your system.
Retry Windows Explorer and see if your camera is showing. If so try LR import again.

  • External devices (HD's, digital cameras) do not appear as icons on desktop

This is, I think, exactly the same question asked by Byron B.
That is: external devices (Hard Drives, digital cameras) do not appear as icons on desktop. They used to, but not anymore. I can access them through the finder windows, but no icons on the desktop.
What causes this? More importantly, how do I rectify this?
All help and wisdom much appreciated.
    Thanks so much!

  • My camera does not appear in the source list on 9.2.3

after updating my camera software, my camera no longer appears in the source list on iphoto '11.  I am running version 9.2.3 of iphoto on a MacBook (OS X 10.6.8).  I'm not sure how to revert to the previous verson befor the update.  Any ideas?

Since you do not tell us any information about the actual problem except that it does not work a couple of things to try are generally the problem - make sure the camera is set to mass storage mode - that is what iPhoto expencts - and once you get your photos safely off the card (image capture maybe or if it moiunts to the desktop the finder) use the camera to reformat it

  • Recovery Slider: Color Changes with Camera Profiles, not so much with ACR 4.4 Profile?

I'm sure there's a reason for this, and not necessarily a defect, but I have to ask:
The recovery slider: if I use the Recovery Slider on an image set to the ACR 4.4 camera calibration profile, this helps control my highlights without affecting the overall color/tint of the image. However, if an image is set to the Adobe Standard camera calibration profile (or any of the other camera profiles) and I use the Recovery Slider on that image, the affect on the image seems to be different: the highlights are also controlled, but not without a perceived effect on the color tint of the image. The color balance almost seems to slightly change. Particularly noticeable on skin tones. I'm working with 5D files, using Lightroom 2.3 on a Mac.
What's the reason for this? Anyone experience similar?
    Thanks

This is a known "problem". It is caused by "hue twists" that are present in the camera-matching profiles and the new Adobe profiles. Several threads on this in the ACR forum:

  • New DNG profiles not appearing in Lightroom

DNG profiles created with QPcalibration and Colorchecker Passport are not appearing in the Lightroom profile pulldown menu since I upgraded to Photoshop CC.  HELP!

I have CC and new color profile are installed correctly for me, still.
What folder are the profiles being saved to?    Are you viewing JPGs or RAWs?
On Windows 7/8 the profiles should be stored in a folder like:
    C:\Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles or %APPDATA%\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles

  • Camera Profiles not being installed after adding .dcp files to a CameraProfiles folder.

Hi fellas, recently I downloaded some camera profiles for my Nikon D7000 and Sony RX100MII and added to CameraProfiles folder which can be found under Application Support folder on my mac. However when I open my lightroom and go to Lens Correction those camera profiles would not show up in the option at all. I shoot with RAW, so I don't think format is the root of the issue here. This is my first time trying adding Camera Profiles so I might be making some very fundamental mistakes. I would appreciate any kind of advices, thank you very much.

See the instruction below for the location where your profiles should be placed. If they are placed in the same folder where Lightroom install package places the profiles created by Adobe they will not be recognized.
Your custom Camera Raw & Lens Profiles should be installed to the User folders…
Lightroom 5 no longer uses the shared ProgramData (Windows) / Application Support (Mac) folders for Camera or Lens Profiles. Instead, it stores the built-in profiles with its program files.
When you create camera or lens profiles, they must be stored in the user locations listed below. If you previously stored custom profiles in other locations, you’ll need to move them to these user folders, otherwise Lightroom won’t be able to find them.
    Windows—C: \ Users \ [your username] \ AppData \ Roaming \ Adobe \ CameraRaw \ CameraProfiles \
    Mac—Macintosh HD / Users / [your username] / Library / Application Support / Adobe / CameraRaw / CameraProfiles /
For the lens profiles, substitute the LensProfiles folder for the CameraProfiles folder.
The camera and lens profile file extensions are:
.dcpr—camera profile recipe file used for creating/editing a profile in the DNG Profile Editor
    .dcp—camera profile
    .lcp—lens profile

  • LR2 Camera Profiles not showing under calibration

I am using the production release LR2 on a PC running XP. I installed the camera profiles and presets. The camera profiles are located in the following directory:
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\ApplicationData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\Camera Beta 1\
I can see the presets when in the Develop panels but the camera profiles are not showing up in the Camera Calibration panel. "Profile:" is blank and to the right of that is "Embedded" - none of the profiles show up consequently there is no change when selecting a preset.
I had closed LR2 before installing the profiles and have read all of the FAQ's and anything else I can find on the subject but nothing addresses this issue.
Does anyone have a thought as to what may be causing this issue?
    Thanks

    >Does anyone have a thought as to what may be causing this issue?
The profiles will only work on RAW images. The fact that you see embedded means you are looking at a tiff, jpeg, or psd.

  • Camera profiles not showing up in Camera Calibration

I would be very happy if someone can help me.
I have lightroom 2.7 + lightroom 3 beta installed + I have downloaded and installed camera profiles beta 2 and DNG profile editor from Adobe Labs.
Despite doing so both versions of lightroom only offer me the option of adobe standard and embedded.
    What am I doing wrong?

You are doing nothing wrong. That is the expected behavior. The profile popup menu only shows the profiles for the camera you are using. For the M9 there is the Adobe Standard profile (made by Adobe) and the Embedded profile (made by Leica and embedded by the camera at the time of capture).

  • Logitech camera does not appear in sound control panel

I have a Logitech webcam. Both audio and sound worked well until yesterday. Now the audio does not work (Video is fine) ando does not appear in sound control panel. I've tried the webcam in other mac and works fine.
I'm running Lion 10.7.5 on a Mac Pro mid 2007.
    Any idea?

    HI,
    Restart the Mac.
If that does not work  I would also try a PRAM reset.
    Shut down the computer.
Restart it holding down Apple/CMD ( or ⌘)+ALT( ⌥)+P+R Keys until you have heard three Start Up Bongs.

  • I have a Sony handycam DCR HC46E I also then have IMovies version 10 I am trying to transfer movies from my tapes to I Movies. I am connecting using an ILink cable 9 Pin to 4 Pin. The camera is not appearing in IMovies?

I can see DV in Link in th top right of the camera screen so it appears that the two are connected (if I remove the cable then this disappears). I have tried turning off the Mac and then turning back on with the camera turned on and connected to the Mac, still not being seen?
    Not sure where to go?

I have a "P-menu", and a "standard set" but I cannot see an a/v button. It seems to make sense in a way though because the ILink says DV in, not out which is what I am looking for. So I cannot change it to DV out.
    Hope you get yours sorted.
    Thanks

  • Camera is not Appearing in Log and Transfer Window

    Hello All,
I feel like I should be able to solve this on my own, but I'm stuck. I've been using a Cannon HF S10 (AVCHD) for a few months. Up until about a week ago when I have connected the camera to my iMac and opened the Log and Transfer window all of the clips on the camera have appeared, but now they don't. I had this happen another time with a different camera and and after trashing the FCE preferences I was able to see the clips in the L&T window. So I trashed the FCE preferences, but this time I still do not get the clips in the L&T window.
The camera mounts to my desktop and also appears in Finder, so I tired clicking on the "Add Folder" button on the top left corner of the L&T screen and adding "CANNON". This did not produce the clips in the L&T widow. I also tried to add the folder that is one level down labeled "AVCHD", but this did not work either.
Any direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, in advance.
    Marc

Ok...nevermind. All of the thumbnails appeared. There are a lot of clips on the camera, so I'm guessing that this is the reason for the lengthy loading time.

  • HT5467 Why is my default camera app not appearing in the location list?

Any photo taken by the native camera app in ios6 (after a restore from ios5.1 to ios6) no longer includes gpsinfo. The default camera never asked for permission, nor is it found in the location data list under privacy settings. Even resetting the privacy and location settings did not fix it.
    iPhone 4S. iOS6.0. Clean install.
Anybody else with this same problem?

    I just solved my problem!
Since installing iOS6 I immediately installed and started to use a third-party camera app for most photos. Occasionally I would use the default camera app for photos - but only through the lock screen.
So, it turns out that you need to open the default camera app through the icon at least once. This brings up the request to use location services, and also adds the Camera App to the Location Services list. Solved.
For some reason, using the camera through the lock screen does not trigger this request for location services, and every photo taken is naturally taken without any gpsinfo included.
A simple answer to what seemed like a complex problem. Glad to find the solution though. Hope this helps others.
