Camera Profile Re-Installation LR 4
I have upgraded to LR4, but none of my camera profiles show up. So, I tried to manually transfer the relevant folders and files to reside as subfolders under Library-App Support-->Camera Raw 7. However, this did not work.
I would appreciate it very much if someone could tell me how to properly re-install the profiles. I use several different cameras, so I have an extensive list of Adobe and custom profiles.

I have SOLVED THE PROBLEM!!
It had nothing to do with Lightroom. The problem was that, this week I installed the Photoshop CS6 update and had not pointed to the preset folder from CS5 in the CS6 preferences. Once I did this, all my plug-in and presets appeared in CS6 and, then, when I next opened Lightroom, the presets were available in Lightroom as well.

You're the one who is mightily confused. :)

Assuming "ARC" is a typo for ARC, the beta camera profiles are used in ARC, inside Camera Raw,
not
"in lieu of". The new profiles, once installed appear IN the Calibrate Tag in ACR, alongside any profiles there may be there for your camera model from earlier versions of ACR, in the very same menu, not
"in lieu of".
If you do NOT have a raw file generated by a Canon or Nikon camera supported by ACR 4.6 (I'll forget about ACR 4.5 for good now), you WILL NOT see the new beta profiles appear in the dropdown menu in the calibrate tag.
You HAVE to be opening an image from a camera that is supported by the beta profiles or you will NOT see them. You'd see only the profiles from older ACR versions there.
It's akin to not seeing JPEG as an available format if you try to save a 16-bit image file through Save As, because JPEG does not support 16-bit images.
ACR must be presented with a file generated by a specific camera model supported by the beta profiles, or you won't see the beta profiles. It's that simple.
I suggest you take this discussion to the ACR forum, where it belongs, and where the ACR team hangs out, participates very actively and will be able to set you straight.
I don't think you understand how ACR works.

If you go over to the ACR forum, you will be able to interact with the creator of ACR and Photoshop, Thomas Knoll, with ACR programmer Eric Chan, and with the man who literally wrote the book on Adobe Camera Raw, Jeff Schewe. -

carolynO.K. I understand about v 4.6. At the time I installed ACR 4.5, it was the version Adobe said was required. What has happened since then I was unaware of.
Where I have the ACR 4.5 plug in installed is EXACTLY the path you describe, not the HOME folder, but in my HD. I can show a screen shot but don't think that works in this space. To follow my ACR4.5 plug in path, which is the same as you say above, here it is:
HD/Library/App. Support / Adobe /Plugins/CS3/ File Formats / Camera Raw Plugin
When I am in Bridge, the window shows Camera Raw v 4.5 at the top. So I must have it in the right place. I think you misread my original post as the path I copied there was copied from the Ådobe FAQ! link for the Camera Profiles, NOT for ACR. Sorry if I was unclear.
I totally understand that the beta Camera Profiles and ACR do NOT reside in the same folder. ACR is in Plug ins, and the beta Camera Profiles go in the Adobe folder under Camera Raw. But I do NOT have ACR 4.5 in the Adobe folder so that I can put the profiles there. So what am I supposed to do ?? -
Photoshop CS5 installation hangs up at Camera Profiles (4%)
Hello!
I have uninstalled any versions of Photoshop I can find, and run the Adobe Clean-Up tool to remove any remenants. I have restarted several times, and have been unable to get the installer to go past 4%. It hangs up up "Camera Profiles" and the install time keeps increasing and increasing and I finally have to cancel installation.
Any suggestions? I appreciate it!Uninstalled and tried to install from root user. It completed again, but with errors. Here's the log:

I tried to install photoshop CS6 download installation and got
FATAL: Payload 'Camera Profiles Installer 7.0.0.108 {3F023875-4A52-4605-9DB6-A88D4A813E8D}' information not found in Media_db.
How to solve this problem. F adobe has not human being to answer the question.Without proper system information nobody can tell you much. This error usually indicates that a previous install of some Adobe program has introduced an incompatible component and it's blocking the new install. as a start run teh cleaner tool an d try again.

Hello, I'v been using Adobe creative suite for a real long time and this week end I upgraded to CC. Most of the applications have been installed. Unfortunately I'm not able to install Photoshop and After Effect. Here is the problem:

Anyone has a solution for me?I have recently started having this problem in PSE8. The Adobe workaround
did work, but I don't fancy having to re register each time I use it.
What I have discovered is that it's nothing to do with the image metadata as it occurs before any image is opened.
It SEEMS to only occur if you use file/open with to open an image in the editor - IE start PSE with that command.
If you close elements down, and start it using programs/PSE/Elements (or your desktop shortcut) - the panorama feature magically works.
Each time I've opened the editor 'automatically' using image/open with, it seems to create the problem.

Installation of camera profiles and x-rite Profiles show up only in a certain folder of a catalogue
Dear all,
I'm working in a Maverics environment on which LR 5 is running. I've tried to install the camera profiles for the Nikon D800 by copying them to the users Library/Applicaton Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/Camera Profiles. After re-starting LR the profiles didn't show up. In a second attempt I tried to impoprt them with the extention manager which didn't work.
The second problem I'm facing is, that I've created camera profiles with x-rite. The profiles show up only in a certain folder in LR in the same catalogue. This means in this certain folder named shootings i can choose the x-rite porfiles. When I go -without leaving the catalogue- to an other folder ie. named sports, I can not see the profiles.
It would be great if somebody has a useful idea

Cheers StefanSee the instruction below for the location where your profiles should be placed. If they are placed in the same folder where Lightroom install package places the profiles created by Adobe they will not be recognized.
Your custom Camera Raw & Lens Profiles should be installed to the User folders…
Lightroom 5 no longer uses the shared ProgramData (Windows) / Application Support (Mac) folders for Camera or Lens Profiles. Instead, it stores the built-in profiles with its program files.
When you create camera or lens profiles, they must be stored in the user locations listed below. If you previously stored custom profiles in other locations, you’ll need to move them to these user folders, otherwise Lightroom won’t be able to find them.
Windows—C: \ Users \ [your username] \ AppData \ Roaming \ Adobe \ CameraRaw \ CameraProfiles \
Mac—Macintosh HD / Users / [your username] / Library / Application Support / Adobe / CameraRaw / CameraProfiles /
For the lens profiles, substitute the LensProfiles folder for the CameraProfiles folder.
The camera and lens profile file extensions are:
.dcpr—camera profile recipe file used for creating/editing a profile in the DNG Profile Editor
.dcp—camera profile
.lcp—lens profile -
How to make an untwisted camera profile available in LR 4.4?
I have downloaded dcpTool from http://dcptool.sourceforge.net and generated the untwisted versions of all the Nikon D700 related camera profiles (Adobe Standard, Camera Standard, etc.) that come with LR 4.4. Since the structure of the camera profile filenames seem to be important, for each file I kept the original name but added a distinction to its end (e.g. Nikon D700 Camera Standard UT.dcp).
According to the information I have collected, 'installation' of these profile versions would be as easy as copying them into the same directories where the original profiles are. Unfortunately LR 4.4 does not bring them up in the Camera Calibration module.
How should I 'install' these profiles?Thanks again for your very useful advice. You gently explain why my idea is groundless. You are right, it is better to stay on ground.
I changed to LR recently. So far I have used only the Adobe Standard profile, but I am not very pleased with it. A few days ago I started fiddling with other D700 profiles, without any convincing color rendering improvement. This is the reason for entering the camera profiling world.
As my username reflects, I am a hobbyshooter. Most of my pictures are taken when travelling (landscapes and cityscapes) but I also shoot at family events and parties.
You have made me even more curious about the ColorChacker based profiles. I hope they will solve my main problems: skin color, the vivid reds of Nikon, and the formerly mentioned hue twist. Nevertheless, I am afraid that finding the right color rendering balance for my typical environments (particularly for indors with totally mixed lighting) will not be easy...
I am also thinking of reprocessing roughly two thousand pictures, taken years ago with D200 and D300. Do you have any suggestion how to get nice 'generic' profiles for the given camera+lens combos, which I do not have these days, so creating their profiles with ColorChecker is out of the question for me? -
Lightroom 2.5 Upgrade fails to install Camera Profiles
Having just upgraded from LR 2.4 to LR 3.5 as Administrator, I am unable to select any camera profile except one listed as "Beta" when logged on as a User. The Adobe provided camera profiles that I've come to expect are ALL missing.
It appears that Adobe provided camera profiles have been installed at C;\Documents and Settings\All Users\... and NONE are located at C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\...
Is this expected installation behaviour?
Shouldn't the camera profiles be located at some other location that allows anyone logging on to my computer to see ALL Adobe provided camera profiles?
How do I fix this problem so that ALL that log on can see the Adobe provided camera profiles?
Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated!The LR installer should install all the profiles for all supported cameras.
Profiles are selectable in Develop module from the camera calibration tab while working with RAW files.
The only profiles that will be displayed will be the ones specific to the camera model for the file selected.
Profiles for other cameras and models will not be displayed.
No profiles are selectable or displayed while working with jpeg, psd or tiff files. -
Lightroom 5.7 Not Showing Camera Profiles from DNG File
Hello,
I just installed Adobe DNG Converter 9.0 and converted some Nikon D7200 fles to DNG for import into Lightroom 5.7. This works fine except for the Camera Specific profiles not showing up. Only Adobe Standard shows up.
When I open the same DNG file in Adobe Camera Raw in Photoshop CS6, [it] properly shows all the camera specific profiles for the D7200. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for your insight.gonzalu, the reason is because the profiles are installed separately for Camera Raw vs Lightroom.
If you're using Lr 5.x, then to get the extra D7200 profiles visible in Lr, you'll need to manually copy/install them. Try looking here:
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\Camera\Nikon D7200
and copy the contents of that folder to here:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles
(where you should substitute your actual username, above).
Then restart Lr and the profiles should be visible now.
(You don't need to do this step if you're running Lr CC, because the new profiles are included with that installation.) -
Camera Profiles Beta 2 in LR 2.3
I just downloaded the beta 2 camera profiles from labs.adobe.com. They appeared as advertised in Camera Raw 5.3 but all I get in LR 2.3 under Camera Calibration is Profile: "Embedded"
I did restart the computer but still no luck.
Is there a step I am missing?

PS I have Vista Ultimate with 4 GB of RAM.You should not be bothering with the beta profiles as they have been superseded when ACR 5.2 was released.
If you download Camera Raw 5.3 you will find an installer package for the most recent versions of the camera profiles included in the download package.

Embedded suggests that the file you're trying to check the profile in is JPEG, TIF or PSD, which don't support the camera profiles. In some situations it may also appear for DNG files, but thse should also show Adobe Standard as a second option. -
I have been using LR3 almost non-stop since its launch, but today my Camera Profile in the Develop module have disappeared - I am only offered ACR 4.4 or ACR 3.6. When I press Alt and the Reset button, LR3 offers me my Canon 400D profile, but when I choose Update to current settings, absolutely nothing happens. I have tried exitinf LR3 and going back in, but it just stays the same.

Thank you for resolving my problem. To help others, I will detail what I did (in addition to the steps detailed above), to get my EOS 400D profiles back.
After your reassurance that I would not lose any of my previous edit settings, I reinstalled LR3 from my original CD: the re-install just wrote over the original version of LR3, but I think that, crucially, it amended the Registry. That gave me my missing Camera Profiles back. I rebooted, ran LR3, and chose the upgrade to LR3.2. This time, it gave me an option to uninstall LR3.2 (which was what I was initially running when the problem started, or REPAIR the existing installation. I chose REPAIR, and so far, everything looks good.
Also, although I have not reinstalled any part of my Photoshop CS3, Adobe Bridge/ACR is also showing my Camera Profiles too.
I am sure that the installation and subsequent uninstall of Photoshop Elements triggered the problem.

[4.3] Custom camera profiles now ignored
Hi,
After installation of LR 4.3, my custom camera profiles are no longer recognized. They are still in the correct folder along with the other camera profiles installed by LR but these custom profiles are not shown in the drop down list in the Camera Calibration panel.
Any similar experience?

Thanks in advance.Aaaah, it seems that custom profiles now need to be stored in another folder, different from the one where the default profiles are stored.
Previously, all profiles (default and custom) were stored there for my 5D :
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\Camera\Canon EOS 5D
Now the custom profiles need to be moved there (create the folder if it doesn't exist) :
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\Canon EOS 5D
A warning about this change would have been nice and time saving. -
Cannot see ACR 5.3 update in the Camera Profiles on CS4
I'm using CS4 on Windows Vista 64. I have tried the manual installation process multiple times before and after re installing CS4. I've tried the AUM with no results good or bad. I know there are two Camera Raw.8bi files that have to be installed in Vista 64 and I've been very careful to get both of the correct files to the correct destinations - I've gotten a lot of practice at this. There have been no error messages. One thing Bridge is doing now is that when I open an image, it opens it in Elements 7, which I upgraded from. When I close PSE7 and reopen the RAW file, it then opens in CS4. My big concern however is not seeing ACR 5.3 in my Camera Profiles. Any thoughts for a non-techie?
Robert, I am having a similar problem with Elements 6, in my case I have installed the 8BI file on my desktop, and I can see all the options Jim describes in camera profile My camera is Nikon, so those are the options I should get. But on my new laptop, all I get in camera profiles is ACR 4.4. I originally downloaded the most recent camera raw update to the laptop, but when that didn't work, I copied the 8BI file from the desktop to the laptop with a memory stick, and I still get the same results - no options. Camera raw on the laptop does recognize my camera, and lists it at the bottom of the preview screen, but it does not populate the options in camera profile.
I distrust the answer you got from FAQs, because my camera did not exist at the time ACR 4.4 was released, and it really does not explain why I can't get the same camera profile selections on the laptop as I do the desktop. Both are Dell, Vista 32. Both are PE 6. Both are the same camera, and now, the same 8BI file. And both show ACR 4.4, The 4.4 doesn't bother me, but I want the camera options on my laptop. -
"Camera Profile" in Camera Calibration ACR tab - Q
I upgraded from PSE5 whcih used ACR 4.7 - and now using PSE8 w ACR 6.1
In the Camera Calibration tab in the Camera Profile drop down - I see "ACR 4.7" still listed.
Can someone tell me how to make use of this tab and how I can delete the ACR 4.7 and use 6.1 - if there is a benefit to doing so?
Thank-you!I think the issue could be that I have both PSE 5 & 8 installed at the moment. I'm using the 30 Day Trial - and I'll uninstall PSE 5 once I get my actual disc & serial # in the mail. I did not want to uninstall v5 until I had the v8 serial # and was convinced that v8 worked well. During the v8 installation - it recognised v5 but said I can keep it. My concern is uninstalling both and reinstalling v8 and having catalog & stack issues.
I installed the camera profiles as Adobe directs "before" pasting the new ACR 6.1 file in the folder.
Nevertheless, I installed the cameraprofiles.exe again today - previous to posting this thread.
I guess a main question is - what would I be missing out on by not having ACR 6.1 in the profile? (vs 4.6)
