  • Camera RAW and DNG version 8.2

I have a Canon 70D.  How do I find out what version of camera raw and dng  that I have installed?

Unfortunately, photoshop elements 11 can only use up to camera raw 7.4 for the camera raw plugin.
(in the photoshop elements 11 editor; Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor>About Plug-In and click on the words Camera Raw to find the version you have)
(Help>Updates in the pse 11 editor to check for updates)
You can use the DNG converter 8.6 to convert your canon 70d files to dng copies, which pse 11 should then open.
If you have mac os x 10.6.8 snow leopard then you would need to use dng converter 8.3
    dng converter 8.6:
Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh : Adobe DNG Converter 8.6
    dng converter 8.3:
Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh : Adobe DNG Converter 8.3
How to use the dng converter:

You could also upgrade to photoshop elements 12 or look at adobe lightroom 5.6 to avoid using the dng converter

  • Camera Raw and DNG Converter 4.4 Now Available

    Details here: http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2008/03/lightroom_14_and_camera_raw_44.html
    Regards,

Hmmm... I got the DNG Converter and ACR from the page I listed.
If you go to the DNG page at http://www.adobe.com/products/dng/ and click on Downloads (in the light gray box on the upper right) for Mac or Windows (I'll use the Windows example here because I'm on a PC right now, but it also worked from my Mac) you will go to http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3894 and then you have to click on Proceed to download and it should say filename DNG_Camera)Raw_4_4.zip and be 5.4 meg in size (If you follow the Macintosh link the filename is DNG_Camera_Raw_4_4.dmg and is 12.5MB).
However, if you go to the Camera Raw page at http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/cameraraw.html and click on the download links under the main gray box you will only get the Camera Raw file (filename is Camera_Raw_4_4.zip at 3.3MB or Camera_Raw_4_4.DMG at 7.8MB).
Both download places list the Product name as Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter. But the filenames are different and indicate which one you are downloading.

  • Camera raw and DNG files appear as generic icons

Camera raw and DNG files appear as generic icons instead of image previews (Bridge CS5)
    What can I do ?

    Hi Yammer.
First thanks a lot for taking your time to help me. I am really happy about it!
    I will try to answer:
    1)
I meant by having the Camera Raw.8bi placed in BOTH "C:\Programmer\Adobe\Adobe Bridge CS5\Plug-Ins" and in C:\Programmer\Fælles filer\Adobe Plug-Ins\CS5\File Formats" the ACR will be found in two versions - or rather in two places (I know the former shouldn't be, but it solved my preview problem).
    2)
YES - I do have tried twice starting the Adobe Bridge holding down the Ctrl-key and ticking the two (the third was greyed out but ticked anyway) and with no help.
    3)
I have tried to do the *.8bi search you suggested, and this gives me the following dump - absolutely with a few more entries than yours. Some are like doubled.
Do you think I can just delete these?
    Kind regards, Jan

  • ICC Profiles in the new Camera Profile Editor

    Hi Folks,
I'm wondering if anyone knows why we aren't (yet) able to assign ICC profiles directly in the Camera Raw module, rather than working from the profile editor? Is this essentially a proprietary technology or trademark issue, and thus not something to be implemented into ACR in the future?
By all means, feel free to add any background to this conversation that you wish - I'm admittedly ignorant on the trade issues involved here, and certainly don't wish to add any ill will. Just looking to understand how these (still) emergent technologies are shaking out and interfacing with the ACR workflow.
    Thanks

    Ah, indeed. Thanks R.
And for those interested, here's a great response, courtesy of the one and only Mr. F:

That said, all other follow-ups welcomed, though my own question is answered.

  • Camera Profile Default in LR2--Problems

I downloaded the camera profile betas and Camera Raw 4.5. When working with a Nef, I set a beta camera profile in LR2. No problem. When finished I open another NEF--same thing. Reverts to 4.4 default. Is there no way to make that sticky?
Also, each time I open LR the default profile is Camera Raw 4.4, and I have to reset it. Nefs are all I am testing LR2 with, shot with a D300. How do I get a sticky profile. What am I missing?
Also, since I have Camera Raw 4.5 installed, shouldn't that default to 4.5 instead of 4.4? 4.3 is also on the list, but not 4.5. Why isn't 4.5 available? Have I done something wrong?

Try opening ARC with no photo, set the profile to what you want, and save
it as the default setting. I know I've left out the details, but the
    general idea should work.

  • Camera Raw and DNG Converter for PSE10 and PS CS5.5

I recently bought a Nikon D5200.  I have Photoshop CS5.5 at home and PS Elements 10 at work.  I had to download a DNG coverter in order to open my RAW files (NEF).  I have 2 questions: 1) Which are the latest updates that will work with each of these programs (the listings on the Adobe Download pages are confusing) and 2) Do any of these updates allow a new NEF file to be opened directly without the extra step of DNG conversion?  Bit of a pain.

Latest DNG converter can be downloaded from following link:

  • Camera Raw Profile made with Camera Profile Editor are 54 Ko

And the "natives" one are 110 Ko.
Am I doing something wrong ?

The size of the profile depends on which color tables are included. When you use 'Both Color Tables' option, both illuminant A and D65 color tables are the same, so the profile size is optimized by only including 1 copy of the table. That's why the profile size falls to roughly half.
The Camera Matching profiles are a little bigger because of a bigger table used to get a closer approximation to the camera-provided color rendition.

    Aha, mystery solved!
Camera Raw 4.4 incorrectly modified the EXIF time date field of images that were saved as TIFF or JPEG files from the Camera Raw dialog. This has been corrected in Camera Raw 4.4.1
This explains why I never saw that bug: I save images from ACR as PSDs, never as TIFFs or much less JPEGs.
I guess PSD files were not affected.

  • Q:  how to load a camera profile???

    hi:
    1. i downloaded the various camera profiles (via adobe labs) and installed them.
    2. question: when i open up an image in ACR (4.6), i can't figure out how in the world to access those camera profiles. any help would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks. harry shin

No it is not a jpeg - the Ricoh GX200 records adobe dng raw files, this is definitely a true raw file, and the there is an adobe std profile for the camera, see below:
In fact after playing around I found a work round:
    1. I downloaded and opened the camera profile editor
    2. Opened a dng file created by the camera ( It shows the base profile as Embedded (GX200) )
    3. In the Base Profile select Choose external profile and select the Adobe Standard profile for the camera (this profile was installed by the camera profiles download)
    4. Without making any changes to the profile, file -> export profile
    5. Restart bridge, open a gx200 dng file in acr and the exported profile is now listed in the profiles dropdown dogether with embedded (the original adobe standard profile is still not listed).
I notice that export puts the profile by default in my specific user profile rather than all users (it could be that this is why it now shows up - I have yet to try moving it to all users profile).
(BTW I am using Bridge CS3 and ACR 4.6)
    Hope this helps someone,
    Steve

  • Camera Raw 5.2 and DNG Converter Available - Note from Adobe

Camera Raw 5.2 and the DNG Converter is now available:

Lightroom will be updated to version 2.2 with equivalent camera support in December.

Lightroom, Camera Raw and DNG Product Manager

Well, I managed to locate and download both the ACR 5.2 and the DNG 5.2, but it was a bit of a challenge. I have a couple of comments regarding the DNG installation.
As a sometime OS beta tester, I have developed a habit of keeping C:\ for the operating system only. When a new OS or beta is issued, I just format C: and install the new OS. I try to keep applications off C:. It is hard, though, with all the default installations. It would be nice to have the option to install DNG.exe in my applications partition.
My workflow involves importing NEF's from the memory card to a folder, and at the same time converting those NEF's to DNG's and putting them in a different folder in a different partition. Both these NEF's and DNG's are archived. A copy of the DNG's are used as working images. The virtue of DNG's is that there are no sidecar files to keep track of when exporting images. Unless I really mess up, I never go back to the NEF's again. I guess that I am an "outlier" too. I guess that this is essentially the 5 - A "double DNG-only" workflow, using type 2, the native-DNG-DNG system. This is discussed in detail by Barry Pearson at http://www.barrypearson.co.uk/articles/dng/safety.htm#personal
I do like the camera profiles. I previously have used the Fors script. My Nikon D200 lacked red and the Fors script fixed that. Not surprisingly, different profiles are appropriate for different image types. Is there any way of determining the methodology and reasoning between the different profiles, and what specific problems each one is designed to correct. This might permit better matching profiles to image types, with less trial and error.

  • Camera Profile

    Creative Cloud 2014
    Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
    XRite Color Checker Passport
    Nikon P7800
I create Camera Profiles (.DCP files) using XRite Color Checker Passport.
Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) looks for user generated Camera Profiles in folder
    C:\Users\john\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles
Camera Calibration tab | Camera Profile
If I do not create a DCP profile for a shoot, the Camera Profile list does not have the default "Matrix" profile for the Nikon P7800. It shows a list of XRite Camera Profiles from my other shoots. Therefore, Camera Profile will use some XRite DCP as a profile no matter what even if you do not want that profile.
Why is the "Matrix" profile for the Nikon P7800 missing?
If I delete all the XRite DCP files in folder
    C:\Users\john\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles
ACR now shows the "Matrix" profile for the Nikon P7800 as a selection.
For some reason, it is missing "Vivid", etc..
I am not sure which folder ACR places the "Matrix" profile for a Nikon P7800.
In summary, If there is anything in folder
    C:\Users\john\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles
ACR does not also search in the default folder where default DCP files for the Nikon P7800 reside.
    Why?
    What should one do?
Having to use a XRite DCP not intended for that shoot (since "Matrix" is not available) makes no sense.
    Thanks in advance.

    You are correct. I goofed.
I installed the Adobe DNG Converter 8.8 - incorrectly thinking it included the ACR.
It is unclear why the following page does not have CameraRaw_8_8?
Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter for Windows
The title of the page would indicate it should include all the ACR downloads.
I went to the page you first suggested for the latest ACR installer at:
    https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/camera-raw-plug-in-installer.html
After installing "CameraRaw_8_8.exe", "About ACR" now shows the correct version 8.8.0.397.
Bye-the-way, I am unclear what the difference is between "CC Desktop Manager app" and Adobe Creative Cloud application. I thought the Adobe Creative Cloud application replaced the "CC Desktop Manager app"? Adobe Creative Cloud appears as "CreativeCloud.exe" in the Task Manager i.e. is just an ordinary EXE.
Further question - As expected ACR does not appear as an APP in the Creative Cloud application list since it is a plug-in. If the ACR is out of date, am I correct in assuming that the Creative Cloud application will say Photoshop is "up to date" since the Creative Cloud application does not look at plug-in dates. However, if the Creative Cloud application says Photoshop has an "update", the update will include the latest ACR plug-in.
Do you have any idea where Adobe stores the native Camera Profiles for each camera?
    Thanks again for your feedback.
