Camera Raw 3.6 vs 3.7 HELP!!!

When converting a NEF with Version 3.6 the resulting JPG can be rotated in MIcrosoft's Picture and Fax Viewer and the rotation will stay that way with future viewing with Microsoft's viewer. If converting the same NEF with Version 3.7 the resulting JPG will not stay in the rotated position after leaving Microsoft's Picture and Fax Viewer. Can anyone explain why the difference between the two camera raw versions.

Windows Picture and Fax viewer will also not zoom to 100% when you click on the "actual size" icon for any image that used either ACR 3.7 or DNG with 3.7 or both. This works for all previous version of ACR or DNG. When you click on "actual size" you get "drawing failed", but if you rotate the mouse wheel one click either way the image appears and you can then rotate back and get 100% size.

Photoshop CC does not open a RAW NEF file with Camera Raw 8.5. Also, my Help Update gives me an old version.

I've tried updating the plug-in using PS Help CC but it updates with an old version. I downloaded 8.5 and did a manual install but Photoshop doesn't recognize it and the plug-in "cannot be found." I can see the plug-in on the HD drive where it was supposed to go. What am I missing here?

Can't upgrade to camera raw 7.4 via photoshop CS6 help

Just upgraded to LR 4.4 and when trying to edit a photo in PS CS6 got a message that I need to upgrade to ACR 7.4. I went to PS CS6 help>check for updates and got message that my programs are up to date. Then I went to help>about plugins > camera raw and it still shows ACR 7.3. How do I update to ACR 7.4? Your website says this must be done via PS CS6. >help>check for updates.

I cannot get Camera Raw 8.4 to install - need help

Like many people, I'm not getting the Camera Raw 8.4 update in Photoshop CC.
I tried to manually install by using the link provided and when I unzip the setup.zip file and run it, it says the patch is not applicable.
I tried completely uninstalling Bridge and Photoshop CC including "settings" and I just re-installed Photoshop CC from Creative Cloud Desktop and I still have Camera Raw 8.3.
Is there any other dependency on Camera Raw that I should uninstall?
How can I completely remove Camera Raw?
Why doesn't it get updated if I re-install Photoshop CC?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

Camera Raw formatting and Elements 12 on new computer! HELP

I just got a new computer. I started with a Macbook and now have an iMac. I was running Elements 12 on the laptop just fine , now on my iMac, Elements is stating that the camera raw format is not supported. I use a Cannon 70d and never had any problems on my Macbook. I am completely lost on what to do!

Probably just the camera raw plugin needs to updated
Use Help>Updates from within the pse 12 editor to download and install the 8.5 camera raw plugin.

Camera Raw Preview in Bridge Collections (CS4)

I am working in Bridge CS4 and have created several Collections of .cr2 photos that I am editing in Camera Raw. When I open the files in Camera Raw from the Collections panel and click "Done" after making adjustments, the changes do not show up in the Bridge Preview panel. However, when I view the same file from the Folders panel, those changes show up. This situation is a real pain as I have to keep moving back and forth between Folders and Collections - can anyone help fix the problem? I have purged and maximized the cache in both Bridge and Camera Raw Preferences and it's not helping.

First Aid for Bridge is always restart holding down option key and choose refresh preferences. After this reset prefs to your wishes and try again (sometimes restarting Bridge is needed to let the changes take effect).
If this is not working repeat this procedure but now first quit Bridge and delete the Com.adobeBridge3.plist file from the preferences folder in the user library and the again refresh and reset the prefs.
It should work normally, it does so on my system ( you are not working on a network btw??)

You should update your camera raw plugin to version 8.3
Help>Updates from within photoshop and apply any other updates offered as well.

The FZ1000 requires camera raw 8.6 which is NOT compatible with PSE 11.
You will need to upgrade to PSE 13 or use the DNG converter.

Camera Raw 8.5 installed, still says I need it...

This morning I updated Lightroom to 5.5. When I try to edit an image from Lightroom in Photoshop CS5 I get this error: This version of Lightroom may require the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in version 8.5 for full compatibility." In Lightroom it says I have version 5.5 and Camera Raw 8.5. So I select "open anyway" and I don't get my edited file.
What can I do? This is frustrating. Thank you.

The DNG converter is NOT the new name for Camera Raw. The DNG converter is exactly what it says it is. It will make DNG copies of your raw images. Since you have Photoshop CS6, the way to upgrade Camera Raw is to go to the Help menu and click on updates. Clicking on that option will start the update process and provide you with the latest Camera Raw. The DNG converter is a freestanding program from Adobe that should have no impact on the performance of Photoshop.

Camera Raw 6.7 and 7.4 side-by-side?

I have a Create Suite 5 Web Premium installed, which includes Photoshop CS5 and Camera Raw 6.7.
I just purchased InDesign creative cloud single product subscription, and downloaded InDesign CS6. The Adobe Application Manager is now offering to install Photoshop Camera Raw 7.4. I am not sure why, since I do not have Photoshop CS6, probably because InDesign comes with Bridge CS6…
What will happen if I download Camera Raw 7.4? Will it replace the Camera Raw 6.7, or can I use them side-by-side?
Will Camera Raw 7.4 be even fictional (since I do not have Photoshop CS6)?

Process Version 2012
Images edited for the first time in Camera Raw 7 use process version 2012. PV2012 offers new tone controls and new tone-mapping algorithms for high-contrast images. With PV2012, you can adjust Highlights, Shadows, Whites, Blacks, Exposure, and Contrast in the Basic panel. You can also apply local corrections for white balance (Temp and Tint), Highlights, Shadows, Noise, and Moiré.
Process Version 2010
Images edited in Camera Raw 6 used PV2010 by default. PV2010 offers improved sharpening and noise-reduction from the previous process version, PV2003.
Process Version 2003
The original processing engine, used by Camera Raw versions 5.x and earlier.
To take advantage of the newer processing, you can update previously edited photos to the current process version. To update a photo to the Camera Raw 7 process (PV2012), do either of the following:
Click the Update to Current Process button (the exclamation-point icon) in the lower-right corner of the image preview. In the Camera Calibration tab, choose Process > 2012 (Current).To apply an older process version to a photo, go to the Camera Calibration tab and choose Process > 2010 or Process > 2003.
But, if can't launch Camera Raw, I guess this isn't much help.

Camera Raw 5.4

I have just downloaded camera raw 5.4. It's been put into the correct folder as recommended but it is not showing in CS4 camera raw.
Camera raw is still showing the 4.4 version.Can anyone tell me how I get the 5.4 version from it's folder to show in CS4 camera raw.

Firstly what does the camera raw item in the menu location 'help/about plugin' within Photoshop actually say? This is the place to check the version of ACR. If you are looking in the camera calibration section of ACR you may well see ACR 4.4. This is to do with the version that is relevant to your camera make/model and does not update it's reference when a new version of ACR comes out.
For instance, Photoshop reports my ACR as 5.5RC and ACR reports ACR 4.4 in camera calibration. Nevertheless I am running 5.5RC when I run ACR.

Unable to find Camera raw plug-in in new Elements 8 on a Mac

I have a Mac Snow Leopard and a Nikon D700 camera
In checking which version of camera raw is in my newly purchased {Photoshop Elements 8) I checked the plug-in folder. Just in case I also checked Photoshop Elements 8 Pre-set and filter folders
No camera raw plug-in.
Can some one assist - I must be missing something.

Even though you have LR2, i would update both pse8 and bridge to the
latest camera raw plugins to keep your workflow the same regardless
of the program used. (5.6 is the latest version)
If you want to check for the camera raw plugin in pse8, go to
Help>About Plug-in>Camera Raw.
The actual camera raw plugins are not in the pse8 plugins folders,
but in Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plugins.
As an added bonus on mac with pse8, you have access to full
camera raw in bridge, which has a few more processing options
than LR2 has. (Cmd+R to open a raw file in bridge using the full
camera raw)

Make sure you have camera raw installed. Look in PS help/about plugins/camera raw. There should be only one entry and it should be verson 6.x

Camera Raw won't find update in CS6

I currently have Photoshop CS6 running on 32 bit Windows Vista. My current Camera Raw version is 7.0.0.308. I need version 7.4 (which is compatible with my camera)
Obviously, everybody in previous posts have said to use the update tool. Well for some reason my update tool says I'm up to date. No updates available. There are no links that I can find to manually download updated versions. I can only find them for the DNG converter because everything says "use the application updater to get this version" for Camera Raw.
Please help me get this version of Camera Raw!!! A million thanks!

The newest ACR versions only work with Windows 7 and higher, so that could be why nothing is updating.
Adobe has a help page with instructions for older-OS systems that tell how to manually install ACR 8.3, which is the newest version that works on Vista.

This help page was made because the first ACR 8.4 installer wasn’t smart enough to look at the OS and went ahead an installed ACR 8.4 even if that version wouldn’t run on the OS, so that is the scenario the instructions apply to most directly, but they should also work to upgrade an older ACR 7.x to ACR 8.3. You want to pay attention to whether you’re installing the 64-bit plug-in or the 32-bit plug-in because you only have 32-bit Windows.
