Camera Raw 4.1 suddenly opens in Japanese

When opening a jpg, in Camera Raw 4.1, from Photoshop CS3, it now appears in Japanese! When opening same from Bridge in Camera Raw 4.1, it's in English. I tried resetting the preferences in PS3 but that had no effect. How do I get it back to English?

Our studio is having the same problem with Camera Raw 4.1 being in Japanese. Strangely enough, we updated both our G5 and our intel-based Mac Pro, and we are only having the problem on our G5. We udated through the Adobe Updater program on both computers. Photoshop runs all in English except in the Camera Raw dialogue. Any advice?

Raw support is version specific. There is no way to simply force install a new version of ACR into an older Photoshop. You need to consider upgrading or use the DNG converter.

Sharpening applied in Camera Raw not showing when opened in Photoshop - CS5

Has anyone come across this problem. I have a bunch of files I have processed in camera raw, but when I open them the sharpening is not applied. This wasn't happening yesterday. Is there a bug? Am I missing something?

There is a camera raw preference whether to apply sharpening to the on-screen view only, or also to the exported files.
You probably inadvertently set it to screen-only and now after resetting, the default is both.

I would think you'd just need to select the Adobe Application you're using... whichever that one is, then the APP would know what to do with RAW.

Camera Raw Support: how to open Canon 7D Mark II Raw files in CS5.5?

I bought CS5.5 only a year ago and a Canon 7D Mark II a couple of months ago. CS5.5 won't read raw files and I can't find a camera raw update that works with CS5. Did Adobe quit supporting CS5.5 only a year after they sold it to me or is there a way to update camera raw so it will work with my camera?

CS5.x is obsolete software and is no longer supported by Adobe ever since CS6 was released. The last version of the Camera Raw plug-in to run with CS5.x was ACR 6.7.1. There will be no further updates for CS5.x.
You need to look for, download, install, launch and run the free, stand-alone Adobe DNG Converter 8.8 on each batch of raw files that cannot be opened in ACR 6.7.1.

Camera Raw 4_3_1, images not opening

After a photo shoot yesterday our photographer suggested I download Camera Raw_4_3_1 so we could load his camera settings when adjusting the files in raw format. I tried doing that today and when I opened Bridge CS3/Browse, the Camera Raw optionis no longer available. Instead there's something called " Test in Device Central".
When I double-click any file to open, it says the file type is not recognized by PS.
Can anyone help?

I have CS3 and down loaded Camera Raw.plugin ( Camera Raw 4.6). I still cannot open in CS3. It says that photoshop doesnt not recognize the file type. I read the instructions on the adobe site (see below), but I do not have the folder Plug-ins. (see red txt below). What I am doing wrong, or what do i need to have to open Camera Raw? Thanks.
To install with Adobe Creative Suite 3 or Photoshop CS3:
Automated installation on Mac or Windows®:
1. Select "Updates..." from the Help menu
2. Follow the on-screen dialogs to download and install the latest available Camera Raw update
Manual installation on Mac:
1. Exit Photoshop CS3 and Adobe Bridge.
2. Open the Finder.
3. Navigate to the root of the local disk (not the user's home folder).
4. Navigate to: (Please read directory carefully)
Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS3/File Formats
5. Move the existing plug-in to another location (for example, a new folder on your desktop). Ensure you keep this version in case you need to revert back.

Camera Raw Files won't open into Photoshop CC

I'm having intermittent problems with Camera Raw and/or Photoshop CC. Here's my flow...
1. Open Adobe Bridge and double click on the NEF file I want.
2. File opens into Camera Raw
3. I make adjustments
4. I click on Open Object (whether or not smart object is checked in preferences)
5. Nothing happens...it just goes back to the thumbnail in Adobe Bridge
My Camera Raw preferences are set: "Automatically open JPEGs with settings"

Yes, absolutely all of the quality and dynamic range is retained in the DNG, because it is still raw data.
Outside of upgrading to Photoshop CS5, which can open your files directly with Camera Raw 6.4.1, your only choice is the extra step of converting the .CR2 files to .DNG with the free DNG converter.
While you'll get all the quality your Camera Raw 5.x converter can deliver, you should keep in mind the Camera Raw 6.x converter has an entirely new, additional "2010 process" for converting raw images, which (depending on your settings) can actually deliver a higher quality conversion than the one you're getting with Photoshop CS4. I think it's worth the cost of the Photoshop upgrade, personally.

Photoshop CS3 Camera Raw Update: unable to open Nikon D5200 Raw files

I have a Nikon D5200, so I cannot view my raw files (.NEF) files in photoshop CS3 and I downloaded the Camera Raw 4.6 update, and installed it using the manual installation instructions found here: Adobe - Photoshop : For Windows : Camera Raw 4.6 update. After restarting photoshop and attempting to open a .NEF file, I still receive the error "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document. I have also tried previous updates (4.5 and 4.4.1) and they have also not worked. How can I fix this?

Camera raw editor is, suddenly, beyond slow.

While retouching in ACR (PS-CC) with the spot healing brush, ACR doesn't respond for 10 to 15 seconds while using the Spot Removal Brush and/or zooming in or out on the image. This just recently started happening and no changes have been made to my system or drivers. I have been getting the "Cannot complete request due to a system error" message...this message leaves alot to the imagination!
I am on a Win 7Pro 64 bit system w/16gigs of RAM, 2gigs of VRAM with ample scratch disk space. I have the dedicated RAM setting in prefs set to 70%. I'm using an internal drive (1TB) dedicated to PS as a scratch disk. By contrast, the Camera RAW Filter works fine! I have experienced this same problem regardless of the file size. A 67 meg file responds as slowly as a 474 meg file. It doesn't matter whether I am working on a .dng, .nef, or editing a Smart Object. Also, the "Open as Smart Object" button is gone, even with that function checked in the ACR settings.
Should I reinstall Bridge? If so, is there any way to save the "collections" links. I have three collections I am working on and would rather not have to create them again after a new Bridge install. Is there a way to just reinstalll the ACR editor?

You would need to update to PSE 12, or just keep using the DNG converter. Your camera requires ACR 8.4, which isn't compatible with PSE 11. It's also not compatible with PSE 12 if you are running Vista or XP.

Camera RAW doesn't always open a file multiple times

Ok, here is my general workflow:
after shooting images and loading them onto my local machine, I open a raw file, make adjustments and open into photoshop.
Then I open the same raw file again, make different adjustments, and use that as a 2nd layer with mask.
My problem:
MOST of the time, it works exactly as I stated above. Sometimes though, it does not open the 2nd time, nothing happens. I have to save the 'layer 1' file as a PSD to open the 'layer 2'.
What is up with that?

For what it's worth I have seen this going back a loooong time. I've posted on the subject as well and have never gotten a solid answer. It just appears as though Photoshop considers it "already open, so no need to open it twice". I believe an uninitialized variable could be involved, since it's intermittent.
I have found a couple of choices for workarounds or workflow changes...
1. You can save the first-opened document opened (e.g., as a .PSD) somewhere. Then reopening the raw file will always open a second document.
2. You could consider opening the raw file just once, duplicating it as a second layer, then use Camera Raw as a filter. Obviously that doesn't avail Camera Raw of the raw data, but its usefulness depends on what you're trying to accomplish.

Camera Raw Dialog box not opening automatically

When I try to open a raw image in photoshop CS3 for some reason the camera raw plugin dialog box is not automatically opening and I get a message that says "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file" I know I am missing something simple but how do i get the dialog box to open?

You need to make sure that the specific camera model is supported by the version of the ACR plug-in you have installed on your machine.
The current version of ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) is ACR 4.5 and there is also ACR 4.6beta.
What version are you running and what camera generated your raw files?

Camera Raw images unable to open in bridge or CS6?!

I am unable to open my raw images from bridge to ps cs6. The error comes up as 'Camera Raw Cannot open this file'. I have tried downloading the latest camera raw updates and patch installers, but nothing still works. Please help!

We're going to need a bit more information than that.
Are you using ACR 8.8? Press F in Camera Raw to check the version in the title bar.
Which camera make/model produced the raw files?
How did you get the files onto your computer (connection & software)?
Have you tried the camera manufacturer's own software to open the files?

Camera Raw only offers to open 16-bit raw files in 8-bit mode

I am using a windows CS6 Bridge => Camera Raw (8.2) => CS6 Photoshop (13.0.1 x64) to try to open various 16-bit raw files (.dng, .nef, .arw) which Bridge sees as 16-bit, but only an 8-bit version makes it into photoshop.
How do I convince Camera Raw to do its job?
Lightroom (4.4) is able to export a 16-bit .psd which sort-of-works but shouldn't be necessary.

You set the bitdepth in your work options dialog box, which you access by clicking on the line that looks like a link right under the ACR preview:
