That's the clipping warning, which you can turn off by clicking on the triangle at the upper right hand corner of the histogram in the ACR preview. That means
your image is overexposed and all those red spots represent areas that are
totally blown out.
You can try to rescue them with the Exposure and Recovery slider.
You really need to read up on Camera Raw. You desperately need

Well, I managed to locate and download both the ACR 5.2 and the DNG 5.2, but it was a bit of a challenge. I have a couple of comments regarding the DNG installation.
As a sometime OS beta tester, I have developed a habit of keeping C:\ for the operating system only. When a new OS or beta is issued, I just format C: and install the new OS. I try to keep applications off C:. It is hard, though, with all the default installations. It would be nice to have the option to install DNG.exe in my applications partition.
My workflow involves importing NEF's from the memory card to a folder, and at the same time converting those NEF's to DNG's and putting them in a different folder in a different partition. Both these NEF's and DNG's are archived. A copy of the DNG's are used as working images. The virtue of DNG's is that there are no sidecar files to keep track of when exporting images. Unless I really mess up, I never go back to the NEF's again. I guess that I am an "outlier" too. I guess that this is essentially the 5 - A "double DNG-only" workflow, using type 2, the native-DNG-DNG system. This is discussed in detail by Barry Pearson at http://www.barrypearson.co.uk/articles/dng/safety.htm#personal
I do like the camera profiles. I previously have used the Fors script. My Nikon D200 lacked red and the Fors script fixed that. Not surprisingly, different profiles are appropriate for different image types. Is there any way of determining the methodology and reasoning between the different profiles, and what specific problems each one is designed to correct. This might permit better matching profiles to image types, with less trial and error.

Hello, Ive been trying to get the profiler to work for the last week with my Fuji 9100 camera. When I attempt to use the chart method the two dots are reversed on the color samples the #6 bluish green is swaped with #19 white. If I move them to the proper square I get a unable to build chart please reshoot message. If I leave them where they are I get a truely awful color balance. Until recently the Adobe Raw processing has be working these images upside down. An additional issue is since installing the new camera raw 4.6 the check box for importing RAW files and convert to DNG is not accessable.

You have a wild hair about Bridge, Noel?
Not at all.  I like good tools, and from everything I read Bridge is marvelous.  I don't have anything against Bridge, I just don't need it.
As a computer engineer, I use my computer for WAY more than just Photoshop.  As such, I do everything I can to have the operating system (via Windows Explorer) integrate things for me.
For example, via right-click or double-click or drag and drop onto icons:
I access my configuration management system from Explorer (Tortoise SubVersion).
I do searches (grepWin) from Explorer.
I compare things (Beyond Compare) from Explorer.
I start Photoshop and other image tools on raw and processed image files I manage with Explorer.
I start my development tools (Visual Studio and a host of utilities) from Explorer (e.g., double click .sln files).
I access my web sites with Explorer (via WebDrive).
I get file paths from Explorer (right click, Send to Clipboard as Name).
I access office management apps from Explorer (e.g., double click .doc or .xls files).
This is an abbreviated list.  Explorer can be a VERY powerful integrator, and is at the center of my computing world at a higher level.  So now you can start to imagine why I prefer Explorer for image work.

I would recomend not to wait till the patch is live rather get that resolved now, so that we are sure that your update from live works.
Can you please verify if OOBE folder is present in Program Files\Commo
    n Files\Adobe\ folder?
If not, can you please reinstall the CS5 product in order to get that folder and then try installing 6.2 again?

Loaded on a plain vanilla XP system with no problems.  However, I respectfully request you get rid of the setup 64 bit splash screen, can be confusing to those of us with 32 bit systems.  It could easily be interpreted as indicating one has downloaded the wrong software.

The support for that camera was added in the very latest release of Lightroom, version 5.7.1. Having downloaded Camera Raw 8.7.1 will have no effect on Lightroom because Lightroom doesn't use the Camera Raw plug-in. You need to make sure you have updated Lightroom to the very latest release in order to have support for that camera.

  • Camera Raw 3.7 And DNG 3.7

    Hi.
I use Photoshop Cs2 on my PC using Windows XP.
Yesterday I down loaded Adobe camera raw 3.7 and DNG 3.7.
Now I cannot open my raw files,I get a message saying it is not the right kind of file, also when I convert my raw files to DNG they come into the bridge as icons not thumb nails.
I wondered whether anyone can help me with this problem.
    Many thanks.
    John

    > I put the camera raw and dng plug-ins into the Adobe bridge plug-ins folder.
Hmmm ... my WinXP CS2 installation behaves differently. An update via the 'Help' menu does everything automatically ... no intermediate zip file, and no quessing where the ACR plug-in goes. That is, there's a specific location for it, and the Bridge plugins folder is
not it. But who am I to argue with ...
    > After that everything worked.
    cheerios :)

  • Update camera raw 6.7 and DNG for use with CS5

Please- I need a step by step process to follow to get this right. I have spent hours downloading the update and attempting to install both through PS CS5 and manually - I just get "Website unavailable" through the >help>updates path OR "Error loading updater workflow" via manual upload.
I have taken all my photos in raw, so now I cant process at all!!

Download the updater manualyl from the download section on this site. Run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool, reinstall PS, apply the update.

  • Camera Raw and DNG Converter for PSE10 and PS CS5.5

I recently bought a Nikon D5200.  I have Photoshop CS5.5 at home and PS Elements 10 at work.  I had to download a DNG coverter in order to open my RAW files (NEF).  I have 2 questions: 1) Which are the latest updates that will work with each of these programs (the listings on the Adobe Download pages are confusing) and 2) Do any of these updates allow a new NEF file to be opened directly without the extra step of DNG conversion?  Bit of a pain.

Latest DNG converter can be downloaded from following link:

  • PS/Bridge not recognizing raw files - HAVE updated DNG Converter & Camera RAW

Had to re-install my Adobe CS3 due to hard drive crash.
Now that I have re-installed, Photoshop & Bridge won’t recognize my raw files.
I HAVE updated my Adobe Camera Raw (3 times in the last hour), and my DNG Converter (4 times in the last hour). Nothing works. Any ideas?

If in photoshop cs3 you go to Photoshop>About Plug-in and click on the words Camera Raw, which version does it show?
Since photoshop cs3 can only use up to camera raw 4.6 and the EOS 5D Mark II requires at least camera raw 5.2, cs3 won't open those files directly without some help.
