Camera Raw 4.6 updated but only see beta profile

I updated Camera Raw 4.6 beta and saw many profiles Camera standard, Adobe standard - landscape, faithful etc. I then updated to 4.6 release and now only see a single profile - beta. I am using release candidate 2.1.

I am looking in LR at a Raw file from a 50D. Previously when doing the same I saw the many different profiles. The only thing different was the updating of the version from beta to what I thought was the official version.
I don't understand why I am seeing differences in LR.

  • I downloaded the camera raw 8.7 update, but can't open app. Please help!

I've tried this on two different Mac computers. I recently bought the Nikon d750, and am unable to open any raw files with Lightroom 4 or Photoshop CS6. The 8.7 DNG converter available to download through abode is not working. I am going through all of the steps to install, but then nothing. Can't open or find it anywhere. Can someone please help. I am on a deadline!

As mentioned it was not in the applications folder.  HOWEVER, I did a broach search on "dng" and found the "Adobe DNG Converter.app"!!! I don't know where it was hiding but moved it my desktop.  I was able to convert a folder full of NEFs and import to lightroom.  Now everrything is looking pretty good for me hopefully my last couple of posts will help lolapea1:
Recap 1) be sure to load the DNG converter in addition to the camera raw converter
                2) Search all folders for Adobe DNG Converter.app and move to where you can find (ie. desktop)

Now you have to download Adobe SCR 8.7 wit their DNG converter and create DNG file for your CR2 file.  Support for the Canon T5i was added to ACR 7.4 wich is not compatible with CS5.  If you wish to continue using CS5 you can convert the DNG files with ACR 6.7 in CS5.

  • Camera Raw 6.7 Update not working

I have photoshop CS5 and need to edit camera raw images. I downloaded and installed the 6.7 camera raw plug in update, but it's still not working! HELP!

what version of cr is shown in ps (help>about plugin>camera raw)?

  • Camera Raw in CS4.  I have applied the Camera Raw 5.7 update to my CS4 Photoshop. It works fine in Photoshop, but only shows the NEF icon from my DS3 files in Bridge. Any ideas would be gratefully received.  Many thanks.

I have installed Photoshop CS4 on a new PC as my other has all but died.  I applied the Camera Raw 5.7 update for CS4 to take care of the NEF files from my Nikon D3S.  This works fine when opening NEF file, but in Bridge it only shows the NEF icon.
If anyone has any ideas, I would be most grateful.

Purge the cache for the offending folder(s) through the Tools menu in Bridge.

  • I downloaded the latest camera raw version, 8.2, but my DNG convetor still only reflects 7.1, why won't my DNG convetor update to 8.2?

I downloaded the latest camera raw version, 8.2, but my DNG convetor still only reflects 7.1, why won't my DNG convetor update to 8.2?

dng converter and cr are two different programs.
while they both do the same thing, the dng converter is a stand-alone app that does not install into another adobe program and cr installs into another adobe app like photoshop, lightroom etc.
and the latest version (as of 6/25/14) is cr 8.5.
download the dng converter is you have an app that's to old to accept cr 8.2 (or cr 8.5).

  • Are there new updates for camera raw for Lightroom 4, or only for Lightroom 5, as in 5.3 ?

Are there new updates for camera raw for Lightroom 4, or only for Lightroom 5, as in 5.3 ?

There will be no further camera support updates for Lightroom 4 beyond what is already listed in this table.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
Only current versions of Lightroom (currently Lightroom 5.3) will have further camera support added.
If you need to work with Raw files from new cameras you'll either have to upgrade to Lightroom 5 or join the Photoshop Photography Program (to get PC CC + LR5 + extras) or convert to DNG using Adobe's free DNG converter.

  • No matter what I try, Camera Raw will not update from 8.3 to 8.4.1 in PS CC

I've tried completely uninstalling Bridge and Photoshop CC and reinstalling and I'm still on Camera Raw 8.3.
    It just will not update.
I also tried the link to manually install and it just says the patch is not applicable.
Any ideas why even after completely removing and reinstalling both Bridge and Photoshop my Camera Raw will not update?
    Thanks

When I replied to your post, I was replying to an original post that came in via my e-mail today at 2:30 and was the most recent thing in the ACR forum and had remained unanswered for 1.5 hours, so I decided to reply.  Had your post been put in a forum I subscribed to and happen to notice days ago, then I might have seen it, then, but didn't see it until this afternoon, and the e-mail version of your post only had the scant initial information, not the subsequent question and answer about your OS that you'd replied to on the other forum.  So as you say, I had not read the thread, because it was on a forum I didn't subscribe to.  So be shocked and perhaps awed as is necessary.  My treat.
Second, I did make a typo when I said Win8/8/8.1 and it should have been Win7/8/8.1, which might have been deduced by the repeated 8, so you could have asked for clarification.
Seeing as you're on Windows 7 which ACR 8.4 should be compatible with, one minor detail is that I see in the compatible Lightroom 5.4 requirements that it needs Windows 7 Service Pack 1, which would mean you'd want to be caught up on your Windows Updates, which I would assume you'd be.
There are direct links to ACR 8.4(.1) on Jeff Tranberry's blog that are distinct for PS-CS6 and PS-CC so maybe that is what isn't right?
    Keeping Photoshop Up-To-Date
You might check what version of PS-CC you have.  14.2.1 is the most current, and maybe that is prerequisite to ACR 8.4.1, I don't know.
If worse comes to worse, uninstall everything Adobe, then run the CS Cleaner then re-install CC Desktop and see what happens as you install PS-CC and it's updates.  It may need to be run several times.
Once you're ready to retry your installs, you also might try to Quit CC Desktop and run it As Administrator in case there is a permissions issue.
The CS Cleaner can be found, here:

  • How to get the new camera raw 7.2 update?

most of our company computers are offline.
so how do we get the new camera raw 7.2 update?
until now they were always released as manual downloads.... now i have to read this from adobes blog:
Camera Raw 7.2 – Please use the update mechanism in Photoshop CS6
    http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/
does that mean there will be no manual update anymore or is it not up yet?

Thanks for the link, Anthony, and yes, I have already seen that.  But I don't need the description or justification to know that it represents a step backward in image quality.  Admittedly a small one, but a step nonetheless.
Let me be direct:  The color-fringing that occurs on edges that concerns me is not addressed by the new implementation.  Specifically, the colored remnants from de-Bayering (what some call de-mosaicing) are what bother me.
My point is that the old simple Defringe setting, set to All Edges, worked very nicely to fight this common aberration.  There's a thread around here somewhere in which I visually demonstrated the differences.
    Here are the important points:
The new Defringe feature, even thyough it has more controls, simply CANNOT be configured to remove those same de-Bayering colored remnants as effectively as the old, simple Defringe: All Edges setting did.  Thus the new implementation is not a superset of the functionality of the old.
When one tries to configure the new implementation to reduce de-Bayering color remnants - even with minimal settings - the negative side effects of the new method are much greater and more visible, making it unacceptable to be made a default setting.
It's worth pointing out that the old Defringe feature isn't available even under the PV2010 setting. The way the new Defringe feature was implemented represents a departure from Adobe's philosophy of maintaining compatibility with old settings.
It shouldn't have been strictly necessary to remove the old Defringe feature as it was implemented to add the new implementation, which addresses an entirely different (though nearby) set of aberrations.  If necessary to avoid confusion or coding difficulties  it COULD have been renamed, though internally it could still work the same.  Or it could have been made an either/or setting.  Personally I think it would be nicest to be able to combine the two - old and new Defringe features - as needed.
As it is, for the above reasons - and the fact that the newest versions run slower - I've dropped back to using Camera Raw 7.0, which is an acceptable workaround for me for now as I still use a camera that version understands.  But of course that's not a viable long-term strategy.  If Adobe doesn't see fit to restore this feature I've only put off the inevitable image quality degradation until Camera Raw 8 and Photoshop CS7.

  • Camera Raw 6.7 update failed

I tried to update my camera raw to 6.7 for my CS5, but halfway through it keep telling me to close adobe bridge. Its not open. I even tried opening it and closing it and still I get the same message ever time I hit the continue button in the update window.

I was having the same issue.  I checked for updates while running Photoshop CS5, and it tells me there is a Camera Raw 6.7 update.  I tried to install it, and it told me close Photoshop and Bridge.  I closed Photoshop, clicked on Continue, and then got just the error that Bridge.exe is still running.  I went into the Task Manager, and the only Adobe task I could find running was Adobe CS5 Service Manager.  There was no Bridge.exe task running.  I killed the CS5 Service Manager task, and clicked Continue in the installer window, and kept getting the same error that Adobe Bridge CS5 is running.  I re-opened the Task Manager and noticed I had not clicked on the check mark to show tasks running by all users.  When I did that, I found that my wife was also logged in, and Bridge.exe it was running under her account.  I killed the process running in her account and it installed successfully.

You need to buy PSE13. But you can continue with PSE9 if you download and install the free DNG converter to convert your CR2 files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the DNG files will work with yoir existing software(keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Windows download (.exe file) click here DNG Converter 8.8

You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • Premier Elements 10 Camera Raw 6.6 update fails

Running the Camera Raw 6.6 update for Premier Elements 10 fails with the message:
    Update Failed
! Updates could not be applied
    Error log says:
    Elements Camera Raw 6.6 Updates
    Installation failed. Error Code: U44M2P7
    Windows 7 64-bit
What gives?  How can I find which version of Camera Raw is installed?

Thanks for replies.  Windows is on the busy auto-update program.  I have Photoshop elements 8 (upgrade from 4, 5, 6, 7 maybe earlier).  PSE 8 stopped auto updating years ago, but I was able to update to Camera Raw 5.2 manually.  That is, find the subdirectory that contains the plugin and copy the new plugin there.  I had 3 or 4 subdirs with the plugin, it was a process of elimination to identifiy which was the functional plugin.  The old plugin must be removed or PSE8 reads it even if renamed (duplicates show in help, plugins).  Adobe says PSE8 will only update to Camera Raw 5.2.  I have yet to test import of an image from a camera newer than those in the 5.2 update.  I do have a camera that's in the 5.3 list.
Premier Elements is different, no inventory of plugins.  Auto update says it is up to date.  Adobe says PE10 will take the Camera Raw 6.6.  Without an inventory of installed plugins, I downloaded 6.6 zip file, that's what fails upon installation.  I have yet to try searching for the plugin and manually overwriting older versions.  The 6.6 upgrade process produces 50 files so it will be much more difficult if I go that route.  First I'll test import of images from a new camera, then I'll try the manual update process, if all else fails, I'll reluctantly update to PE11.  Adobe help describes use of the DNG function, which provides a work-around to camera raw incompatability.
It seem the updates of Photoshop and Premier have been for new file sharing functions and cloud storage or macros that deploy basic image/video imaging functions.  I have no interest in using social network and cloud storage interface, I just want to edit, so upgrades have not been appealing.  Adobe is out to collect another $100 each year or two with no real increase in editing functionality?  Or is it that the bugs in PE10 are fixed in 11?  The advertising says nothing about bug fixes, must pay another $100 to find out if the bugs are fixed?  I'm old fashioned, pay for new functionality, not features that are already supposed to be there.  Now it costs $100 if I want to update the Camera Raw plugin...
Social networking, storage modes come and go.  I just want the image processing to work well!

  • Does Camera Raw 5.6 Update work for PSE 6?

    I have a PSE6, and have bought a Canon Powershot G11.
Camera Raw update 5.6 includes the Canon G11, but the update documentation seems to suggest it can't be applied to PSE 6 on Windows:
    Camera Raw 5.6 update page:
"The Camera Raw 5.6 plug-in is not compatible with versions of Photoshop earlier than Photoshop CS4, versions of Photoshop Elements earlier than Photoshop Elements 6.0."
    But the ReadMe file says:
"The Camera Raw 5.6 plug-in is not compatible with versions of Photoshop earlier than Photoshop CS4or versions of Photoshop Elements earlier than Photoshop Elements 7.0 for Windows and Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac."
Am I right in thinking that my one-year-old copy of PSE6 (Windows version) is no longer functional with a new camera?  Or am I mistaken?
    Advice appreciated -

Some of the Adobe download links are wrong and often take you to an earlier version of Adobe Camera Raw. The latest version is ACR 5.6 which brings support for the newest camera models such as the
    Canon EOS 7D, PowerShot S90 & G11, Nikon D3S and others.
So don’t worry it will work. First you will need to exit Photoshop Elements.
To get the plug-in for PSE6 go to the link below - instructions are for Windows users. They will differ for Mac users.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=4626&fileID=4303
Download the plug-in for Elements 8
Open the zip folder you just downloaded and click Extract Files.
You should see a 64 bit folder and a plug-in file below it. The plug in has a file name: Camera Raw.8bi
Now drag the plug-in file (or copy it) into the File Formats folder in the following location:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 6.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats.  See Gotcha
If running windows Vista you will probably get a pop-up requesting Administrator permission. Assuming you are the Administrator for your computer, simply agree.
I can confirm it does work as I have recently updated my plug-in for PSE6 using the above method. To test it, go to one of your photo folders, right click on a raw file (NEF, CR2, DNG etc) and select open with Photoshop Elements. The image should automatically open in ACR 5.6 giving you access to the latest slider adjustments, including white balance and exposure.
Note: If you have an earlier Camera Raw plug-in, I suggest you move it from the File Formats folder to My Documents before you begin. This will prevent it being overwritten by the new Camera Raw file (it will have the same name) and you can always move it back again if the download installation fails.
If you are using a 64-bit edition of Windows, then move the plug-in file from the unzipped download folder by navigating to:C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 6.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats.

  • Photoshop Camera Raw 6.5 Update fails...

The Adobe Updater has advised me that Photoshop Camera Raw 6.5 Update is available, but the update fails. The Adobe Support Advisor (ASA) acknowledges an issue, but 'cannot determine the cause or corrective action'. There is no Error number given, just advice to contact Customer Support via . After submitting this post I came across a submit a 'Package for Support', which generated the following Reference number: 00-02208-073525012012. Not sure if this helps!

Download Camera Raw 6.6 and DNG Converter from http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/
Install DNG Converter. You don't need it but it will also install Camera Profiles for new cameras.
Then, you can extract the Camera Raw plug-in from the download and install it manually. Here's something I wrote on this for an older version for Windows...
Unzipped the file and found two relevant folders in 'payloads':
    AdobeCameraRaw6.0All-210510124504 contained the 32-bit plug-in
    AdobeCameraRaw6.0All-x64-210510130426 contained the 64-bit plug-in
Within these folders was a filed called Assets2_1.zip
Unzipped the appropriate files and extracted a single file called 1003 or 1002
Renamed the file to 'Camera Raw.8bi'
Backed-up the old plug-ins by renaming and inserting a tilde (~) at the start
Copied the 6.1 version into the same folder:
    (64-bit) Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-ins\File Formats\
    and/or
    (32-bit) Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-ins\File Formats\
I know, it's a bit techy, but there isn't an official way of doing this that I know of.
