? Camera raw 4 & pse 6 for mac

I have camera raw 4, it came with my pse 6 for mac.  Every once in a while my computer tries to install an update, but it never works.  I would like to have the latest version of camera raw, but can pse 6 handle it?  If not, what is the highest version it can handle and how do I install it?  I question, because the updated version isn't installing, so there must be a trick...
Please help if you can.
Thanks

Here are the mac updates for PSE:
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=40&platform=Macintosh
I've forgotten, but I think you can do 5.6 for PSE 6/mac, although 5.5 is the last version listed. Follow the directions in the read me for where to put the plug-in, but if it says you can overwrite the existing plug-in, that's just wrong. You have to remove the older plug-in before putting the new one into the folder.

  • How to open multiple jpgs in Adobe Camera Raw PSE 9 Mac

I am using Adobe Elements 9 on a Mac.  I can open a single jpeg file in ACR with the file open command.  There is no "Open As" in my version, probably because this is the Mac version.  But, there is an additional dialog which allows me to open the jpeg file and select "Camera Raw" as the type.  This opens the jpg in the raw editor.
But, when I select multiple files to open, the type dialog vanishes.  Rather than opening the files in ACR, they are stacked in the main editor.  I don't have this problem opening multiple dng files - just multiple jpg files.  Multiple jpg files will not open in ACR.
I then went to the organizer, which replaced Bridge?  In Bridge, I read there is a command to open multiple files in ACR or use the cmd-R.  However, I am not seeing an open in ACR command in the organizer, just open in editor.  Opening multiple jpg files in the organizer stacks them into the editor, not ACR.  And, typing cmd-R brings up Red Eye reduction, not Raw Editing.
Is there a trick to this which I am missing?

Thanks Terry! I’ve been using this for a few years and settled on the somewhat more flexible approach… As you mentioned, Bridge offers an explicit command to open a JPEG or TIFF in Camera Raw, which I do, but then with a press of Shift I can open that JPEG as a smart object and revisit CR controls for further adjustment at any time later in the process.

  • Lack of support for Camera Raw plugin for Mac 10.6.8

I'm hoping to find some solutions to the road block I've run into.    I'd been using Photoshop CS6 with Mac OS 10.6.8 without any problems.
Then I got a new camera this week, and that's when the problems began.....
I wanted to edit the raw files (R2W format) from the Panasonic GH4, and needed to install the proper Camera Raw plugin.   I installed version 8.6, and not only did Photoshop refuse to acknowledge the installed plugin, but it was no long able to open ANY digital photograph.
I tried installing version 8.5, as well as removing various preference files, repairing permissions, rebuilding volumes (via DIsc Warrior + Drive Geinus) and all sorts of other suggestions I found online.   I was really hoping that a manual drag + drop of the plugin to the  Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CC/File Formats folder would do the trick, but NOTHING seemed to work for me.  I spent most of the day on Thursday trying to figure a solution, and wound up going back to my original Camera Raw plugin (version 8.3) just to be able to use Photoshop again.
I would have liked to have used the DNG Converter, but it doesn't work with Mac OS 10.6.8 either.
There's various reasons why I continue to use 10.6.8 as my primary OS - so many of my OTHER favorite softwares were radically changed or eliminated with the so-called "upgrades" and I really hate the way so many things were altered in what should be simple navigation in the Finder.  I do have OS 10.8 installed on a backup hard drive, but I really don't want to use this as my primary OS....  at least not at this point in time.
    So here's my plea ...
    Adobe -
PLEASE give me an updated version of the Camera Raw plugin that I can use with Photoshop CS6 under Mac OS 10.6.8.
PLEASE provide a version of DNG Converter that will also work with that particular set-up.
.... or help me find a solution so I can install these plugins without the massive headaches.

You can hook up the external 10.8 drive, boot into it, run the DNG 8.5 converter there pointing it to your raw files folder, boot back to the 10.6.8 system and you should have DNGs that will open in ACR 8.3

Would like to purchase PSE 12 to process Camera Raw files for the following cameras: Nikon D800, Nikon DF, Canon G9 and Pentax K-3 does the Raw Converter that comes with  PSE 12 when purchased recognize  the cameras listed in the question or do I need to download  the camera Raw Version 8.3 ?

While the G9 RAW files can be read by Adobe Camera RAW and Lightroom, these file are unsupported at this time. Here is a link to Adobe's latest list of cameras that are supported and this list came out yesterday http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/cameraraw.html
I have not done a comparison between Lightroom and Canon's software but others have and say that Canon's software is clearly better. I am sure when Adobe updates their software again to include the G9 it will be a very good RAW converter as it is will most other cameras.

  • Installing Camera Raw update for PSE 9.0.3 fails

I have been trying to update either manually or with the update function the camera raw plugin for Photoshop Elements 9 to the newest version. It keeps saying that the update has failed. I know I don't have the newest version because I can't open my .CR2 files in photoshop. Which the newest version is able to do. Please, if anyone can help it would be much appreciated! I can't update anything in PSE 9.

The Adobe DNG Converter version 5.2 is obsolete by now.
At this point, you want the Adobe DNG Converter version 5.3, available here:

    You don't.
The D7100 was first supported in Camera Raw 7.4
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
Camera Raw 7.4 will only work in CS6 and above.

You either upgrade to CS6 or join the Cloud and get CC.
Or convert to DNG and edit the DNGs in CS5

  • Looking for the camera raw plugin for Nikon d3100

    Hello!
I'm familiar with how to install a camera raw plugin for photoshop.  However, I've had a difficult time finding the correct download link for the Nikon d3100 for ps cs4.  Will you please point me in the right direction with a link or otherwise?  Thanks so much!

ACR - Adobe Camera Raw versions are specific to the version of Photoshop you have.
They don't provide updates to your version for cameras that were released much later.
You need to download the LATEST version of DNR Converter and use this to convert a FOLDER that contains your D3100 files to DNGs which then can be opened in your older version of ACR for Photoshop CS4.
The Adobe DNG Converter, a free utility that converts files from more than 350 cameras to DNG, enables you to easily convert camera-specific raw files to a more universal DNG raw file.

  • Camera Raw Plugin PSE6 MAC Not Working

I downloaded the latest version of Camera Raw Plugin for a MAC - for Photoshop Elements 6. I followed the instructions included in the readme file, copied the Camera Raw Plugin file to where the instructions said to but it doesn't work.  From Bridge, from the "file" dropdown menu, instead of an option to open in Camera Raw, it says "Check Plugin".  Since Camera Raw Version 5.3 didn't work, I deleted it and downloaded an earlier version (4.6) installed it as per the instructions but I still can't open a photo in Camera Raw. It still says to "Check Plugin".  Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks, Gilda

    Gilda:
Here is where I copied the Camera Raw Plugin file - Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS3/File Formats
Barbara, I don't know the first thing about this, but I do remember (when looking for something else) reading
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407456.html
which says that the latest plug-in should be put in the ../Adobe Photoshop Elements 6/Plug-Ins/FileFormats/ folder and the
    equivalent Bridge folder.
As I say, I've no idea whether this has any bearing on Gilda's problem.

  • I need a camera raw plugin for sony raw files

Hello there,  I got a new Sony A99 camera and I need a Camera Raw update for Adobe Bridge CS5.  I can see my old Sony files from my A580 but the new once are not showing up.  Where can I get an update for my CS5 bridge software?
    Thanks
    Fred

Which operating system are you using?
Have you tried Help>Updates from within photoshop cs6 to get either camera raw 8.3 or 8.7.1, which should enable photoshop cs6 to open the canon 5D Mark III files.
(version of camera raw depends on your operating system)
If that doesn't work try one of the following camera raw plugin installers:
    Camera raw 8.7.1 plugin
    https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/camera-raw-plug-in-installer.html
If you have windows xp or vista or mac os x snow leopard (10.6.8), then you'll have to use the camera raw 8.3 plugin installer:

  • Olympus e-m5 mark ii raw file support missing in camera raw (pse 13)

Olympus e-m5 mark ii raw file support in camera raw (pse 13).
I cannot open an .orf file from the em-5 mark ii even after installing latest updates for pse13 / camera raw.
Do I have to wait for support to be added by adobe / olympus, or can I do anything against myself.
    Thank you,
    Peter

You do have to wait, yes.  The last updates to Adobe software came out in mid-December and the camera was not commercially available until some weeks or months after then.  There is software from Olympus, and perhaps a few others companies that will work, but nothing that will do Adobe rendering, yet.  You could use the Olympus software to create TIFs from your raw images and edit those in Photoshop Elements or just shoot RAW+JPG and edit the JPGs until there is an update from Adobe.
I would expect the next update to Adobe software to have support and it's been about 3 months since the last update so one would normally be out about now; however, I think Adobe is actually going to release an entire new version of Lightroom and the camera-raw plug-in with matching functionality, perhaps synchronized with a new version of PS, and if so there are many more things to get working properly before an update can be released.  It's possible that updates were planned by this time, and there have been too many bugs to get ironed out and maybe Adobe would release at least a beta DNG Converter that understands the new cameras so people can do something while waiting for the main releases of the new software, but that is more my speculation than anything Adobe has said.
Here is what Eric Chan, and Adobe Camera Raw Engineer, said recently, about the prospects of supporting your camera or any newly released camera:

OS X Mountain Lion: Supported digital camera RAW formats seems to indicate that you are correct.
Are you are trying to provide  Apple - Aperture - Feedback or Apple - iPhoto - Feedback?
If so, use you can send direct feedback via the above link(s).  You will not likely get a direct response, but you can be certain that the responsible Apple people  will see your input for consideration in future product development.
If you seek a solution rather than to offer feedback, or until Apple supports your needs within the Mac OS, check whether Mamiya's Leaf RAW converter 1.2.6 for Mac meets your needs.

  • Lost camera raw support for canon 1ds markI in mountain lion

I seem to have lost system support for camera raw files for the original Canon 1ds (what you might call the markI). There's been two recent raw support updates, and I'm not sure if it occured with the first for those two updates or with update to Mountain Lion itself (which I recently clean-installed). I noticed it after the first raw support update (Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.01) but it could have happend with Mountain Lion install and I just didn't notice. In any case, I definitely don't have support for the camera raw files, finder shows only the generic TIFF icon thumnail (the raw files from the markI 1ds were of the extension .TIF, before canon moved on to .cr2 format..). Preview and Aperture can preview the file but without any custom white balance or other info stored with the raw file from camera.
Anybody else experience this or know fix?
    Thanks!
For anyone wanting and willing to test on their machine, I'll post a link to a test raw file.... hmm, apparently this support forum does not allow for the linclusion of a link to an image file, but I'll see if it allows for a link to a zipped folder with image inside... I suppose I wouldn't download a .zip file myself but for anyone braver than I:

    Thanks,

    Lane,
That latest raw update also shows supported devices. The EOS-1Ds is still shown as supported by Mountain Lion in the knowledge base article that accompanies it. Bump!
I wonder if using Disk Utility and verify/fix permissions may restore your RAW capability.
    Don't have Aperture or Lightroom.
I installed the recent raw updates into 10.8.2. The DB5W2360.TIF file has a generic Preview icon. Graphic Converter 8.3.1 opens .cr2 files, and it opened this TIF file nicely as well. GC is willing to modify white balance with a condition that it cannot be done in place, and must be exported to a different format.
    Not much help, I know.

Camera Raw 6.7 is the latest version that's compatible with Photoshop CS5. There's nothing newer for CS5.
