Camera Raw 5.4 (64 bit) 5.4:Failed to install

Hi
I am runnig CS4 in VISTA 64 bit Windows. Today I ran the update menu item in PS to install ACR 5.4.
The installation failed and with the message "Photoshop Camera Raw 5.4,Photoshop Camera Raw (64 bit) 5.4:Failed to install."
I have been having trouble with updates since I installed CS4 some time ago so I reinstalled CS4 and tried again.
The version update worked (11.0.1) but several other components including ACR 5.4 failed again.
I downloaded the ACR 5.4 update zip file, extracted and ran setup. That failed too.
I turned off ZoneAlarm and tried again but it failed again.
Can anyone assist?
Thanks
Rob

Some people have had success in your situation by finding the Adobe Camera Raw plug-in* inside the zip download and dragging it into the correct folder – AFTER DELETING OR TOTALLY REMOVING THE OLD ONE.

  • PLEASE make PS CS6 open RED R3D movie files through Camera Raw 7 as 16 bit/channel files

    Hi All,
Why does CS6 Photoshop only open Red R3D movies files as  8 bits per channel ???
This is VERY disappointing , R3D movies should be opened through Camera Raw 7 as 16 bits per channel
Hey Adobe please, Please, PLEASE make this very desirable change
    Many thanks
    Steve

    Hi Chris,
Thanks for the prompt reply.   I understand what you are suggesting however in CS6 PS  when I open a Red R3D file (on my windows machine)
photoshop opens the file as 8 bit/ch  WITHOUT going through ACR, not offering the option of opening it as a 16 bit file in ACR.
I presume PS "thinks" the R3D file is just 8 bit and doesn't "know" to start up Camera Raw 7 to allow opening it as a 16 bit file
No easy fix I'm guessin' ?
    Many thanks
    All the best

  • Camera RAW and CS4 32 bit.  Can I get them to talk?

    Hi all,
Can anyone tell me how to get Camera RAW to open 32 bit CS4 instead of 64 bit?   I prefer to work in 32 bit for my legacy filters.
    Thanks you.

    Semaforic,
          Thanks for the idea.
Unfortunately, changing file associations in Bridge to the (x86) phtotshop.exe didnt change anything.  Bridge calls up ACR which then opens the image in 64 bit  CS4.
I swore that one was gonna work.
It may just be that I have to go in through 32 bit.  Not a big deal really but still.
      Thanks again.
    Anyone else??

  • How to make CS6 Camera Raw process in 16 bit mode by default

I just received my Adobe Photoshop CS6 and downloaded the current updates. I have noticed that when I download raw images into Bridge the Metadata indicates that the images have a '16 Bit Depth' but when I open the images in Camera Raw the 'Image Mode' indicates that the image is only 8 bits. I never had this problem with CS4 as it would always open the images as '16 bit' so how can I get CS6 to process the raw images as 16 bit by default?  Thanks for any help!!!

    Hi,
In the camera raw dialog click on the Workflow Options at the bottom of the camera raw dialog
and under Depth set it to 16 bits/channel.

  • PS/Camera raw (hdr pro 32 bit). Saving as Tiff, photo has errors!

While using PS/Camera raw. I am doing an HDR image. I select my three raw images and edit in  "merge to hdr pro".
I then set to 32 bit, save as tiff (ctrl+s). The files always have errors and can not be opened.
If i save in 16 bit the file works fine.
Here is what the file looks like in my folder. Look at the upper right image.
    Camera raw 7.3 with PS CS6. Windows 7 64.
    EDIT:
I found that when Camera raw is done merging the photos and places tehm into Photoshop. Even though i can not save them as a Tiff, i can open them in NIK HDR, choopse any options there, then it will save as a Tiff.

    Hi!
I have the same problem. I exported 5 photos out of Lightroom 4.3 and used "merge to hdr pro".
When I saved the 32Bit Tiff it looked the same like your example.
Have you found a solution to this problem?

  • Camera Raw plug-in.  How can I download and Install?

For some reason, I don't have the Camera Raw plug-in installed with my Photoshop Elements 11.0 software on my PC.  How can I go about downloading and installing the Camera Raw plug-in?

    Barbara,
Thanks for replying to my question.  First of all, yes I'm sure I don't have
it, or if I do, I'm unable to access it.  When I go to File>Open As and
click on the down arrow where you go to make your selection for Camera Raw,
it does not appear as one of my options.  All the other options are there,
but not Camera Raw.  I went back into Elements 8, 9 and 10, which I also
still have installed, and it does show up there, but not in 11.  I did go
into Help>Updates a couple of weeks ago and it said all my updates were
current, so that didn't help.  In fact, since then I've installed the trial
version of PSE 12.0 and it shows up there with no problem.  My camera is a
Panasonic Linux and every version of PSE, with the exception of 11.0, has no
problem handling my RAW photos, so that is not the answer.  After I got your
e-mail today I went back into Help>Updates again for my PSE 11.0
installation and lo and behold it came up with an option to install Camera
Raw version 8.2, which I did, thinking that might just solve my problem.
The installation seemed to download without a hitch, so I think it's lurking
in my system somewhere.  The problem I'm having now is figuring out how to
get it into my 11.0 version so that it shows up as an option that I can
click on when I do the Open As command, since it's still not showing up
there.  Any additional help you can provide me with would be greatly
appreciated.  The reason I so desperately need it in my 11.0 version is
because I'm teaching a SeniorNet PSE 11.0 class and without Camera Raw
installed on my home computer, I'm kinda lost.  I've been using 12.0 for the
time being, but my trial period for that is due to run out soon and I hadn't
really planned on buying the 12.0 version this time around. Thanks again for
    your help.

  • Installing Camera Raw update for PSE 9.0.3 fails

I have been trying to update either manually or with the update function the camera raw plugin for Photoshop Elements 9 to the newest version. It keeps saying that the update has failed. I know I don't have the newest version because I can't open my .CR2 files in photoshop. Which the newest version is able to do. Please, if anyone can help it would be much appreciated! I can't update anything in PSE 9.

DagoEmerson I would recommend posting your inquiry into the Photoshop Elements forum.  This forum is designed to assist users with product specific issues such as applying updates and updating the Camera RAW plug-in.

  • Have downloaded camera raw update 7.1, but have had no luck installing it.

I know that I've done this before....and had some difficulty with it at times...but this it's got me beat.

I'm not sure how to unzip it ...
If the file has a .zip extension (or other compressed archive file extension), you just open it with WinZip, then extract the contents.  Most likely there is some .exe file which you can run to install the update.  You may even be able to run it from inside WinZip.

  • Camera Raw 6.6 update for Elements 10 fails with Error Code U44M2P7

I've downloaded the updater twice now and tried to install.
I keep getting this same error code.
Anyone know what the problem is?

    Jeff,
I'm sailing against a headwind here. I followed the link that you gave me (Troubleshoot install using logs | Elements) and immediately ran into trouble.
The Adobe Support Advisor the page recommended is no longer available or supported
The folder on my HD that it pointed to, //Library/Logs/Adobe/Installers/, does not exist on my computer. There are a couple of other folders in the //Library/Logs/Adobe/ directory, but they are both empty.
I searched through the PDApp.log and did not find the two errors that the web page recommended.
    So right now I'm stymied.
But I did figure a hack to make this work.
I open the .RAF files with a hex editor and replace every instance of "X30" with "X20"
The file will now open in Photoshop CC
Run it through the Adobe DNG Converter.
Then I can open the .DNG file in Elements 10.
Hopefully Adobe will jump on this soon. The only differences in the .RAF file that the Fuji X30 produces is the string "X30" in about five places in a 20MB file. Other than that it is identical to the .RAF produced by the X20.

  • Photoshop CC 64 Bit: Camera Raw fehlt

    Guten Abend,

  • Camera Raw editing is not enabled - ACR5.4 Vista 64bit

When I use Bridge, and right click and select to open a raw file in Camera Raw, I get this message:
"Camera Raw editing is not enabled. Camera Raw editing requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature".
There is no problem in Bridge when opening a raw file in Camera Raw when just Open With (PS) or double-clicking
I have seen many have the same problem, and I have tried most of the hints found in forums, but no luck.
I running Windows Vista 64bit. Installed and activated Photoshop CS4 in the standard directories and installed ACR 5.4 manually as described by Adobe by copy the plugin files to folders:
    Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS4\File Formats\
    Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS4\File Formats\
There are no other files in this 2 directories.
I have tried purging cache, and have closed both Brigde and Photoshop and startet Bridge from Photoshop by using -file, -browse in Bridge. And still the same problem.
There are no errors in the files alm.log and amt.log in %temp% directory.
    Thanks for any help

I have just upgraded to Win 7 64bit and have had a similar problem with getting "Camera Raw editing is not enabled" in Bridge
I had installed CS4 as a trial whilst I tested that my install of Win 7 was OK
When I activated CS4 I was using CS4 64 bit and never got the "I have deactivated the software from another machine" question
I tried lost of things to get Camera Raw editing in Bridge and all failed.
When I tried CS4 32 bit it wanted to activate the software - it  asked the "I have deactivated the software from another machine" question and then rejected the activation as two PC were using the key.
I deactivated CS4 from the 64bit side and removed the key
Then I activated using CS4 32bit - all seems OK now
    Hope this works for you

  • Photoshop to Camera Raw in Bridge

I am TRYING to work with Iphoto, Photoshop CS5 and Camera Raw in Bridge.  I have set Photoshop CS5 as my external editor in Iphoto.  I double click on photo (jpg) and it opens in Photoshop.  I need to take the photo (jpg) from Photoshop to Camera Raw in the Bridge.  How do I do this?  OR is there a way to go directly from Iphoto to Camera Raw in the Bridge?  If by some miracle I can find my photo when in Bridge (iphoto makes finding a photo VERY difficult) when I make changes in Camera Raw they do NOT register in Iphoto.  Without all the detail, I want my edited photos (camera raw/photoshop) to show up EDITED in iPhoto.  Help!

iPhoto is cr@p.  At the very least, you have to admit that it doesn't play nice with any other graphics application.  Dump it.
Now, Bridge is a 32-bit application, so when you have Bridge host Camera Raw, Camera Raw also runs in 32 bits.  In contrast, and even though it is the very same plug-in, Camera Raw runs in 64 bits when hosted by Photoshop.
To find your actual image(s) in the Finder, which the crappy iPhoto hides in libraries, you need to highlight said library in the Finder and Control-click (or Right-click) on the icon, then select Show Package Contents in the contextual menu.  Then navigate in the Contents of that package until you find your original and drag it out of there to a sensible place where Bridge can see it.
    Again, dump iPhoto.  My ¢2.

  • Camera Raw is for ?

I'm looking for somewhere to read up on what Camera Raw is actually for in photoshop.
I don't really understand it.  I import my photos to LR3 and then I sometimes edit them in CS5.  What is Adobe Camera Raw in photoshop for?  Is it the same program that processes my photos in LR3?  Is there a benefit to opening files with ACR in photoshop instead of LR?
    Thanks for the help.

If you want top professional results, shoot in camera RAW and open your photos in Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) in 16-bit ProPhoto RGB (or 16-bit Adobe RGB) — I am working on a "professional" job right now for a gal whose wedding pictures were shot in .jpg (with a very highend pro camera) — her pictures looked like crap (a lot of clipped blacks and blown out highlightes...I did pretty good on most of her files getting the tones back in place but the Histogram took a beating and it was three times the work than if she had RAW files.
Jeff Schewe http://www.schewephoto.com/ wrote in a forum post:
A raw file is a raw dump of the sensor data unaffected by any camera color conversion or tone curve. The advantage of Camera Raw is that YOU get to decide the white balance and the tone curve applied - not the camera...
In fact, he wrote the book on the workflow I use:
"Real World Camera Raw with Adobe Photoshop CS4"

  • Built-in "Camera RAW style" color correction for each clip in CS6

Camera RAW has the best sliders for image control. Super easy and ultra natural looking.
I mean if you want to fix White Balance with in-camera like precision or lift shadows or fix highlights Camera RAW is the quickest tool that produces amazing results.
I have compared Davinci Resolve, Phase One (Capture One), Adobe SpeedGrade and Color Finese. And the best "quick fix" results are archived in Camera RAW even with 8-bit TIFFs exported from Premiere's DSLR timeline.
The point is, why can't we add simple sliders for Temperature / Tint / Exposure / Contrast / Highlight / Shadows / Clarity  / Vibrance directly to Premiere's clip.
So the user will not waste time to export TIFFs to Camera RAW or DPX to SpeedGrade.
    Some more comments.
    1. Three Way Color Corrector contains too much submenus and often doesn't produces results wanted.
Wheel-type color mixers are more suitable for Secondary color correction in my opinion.
At first it nice to setup correct White Balance using sliders and only then make some sylish tuning with these wheels.
    2. It's a pity that Camera RAW exported sequences tend to flicker sometimes. I guess it's because of photo-like processing style. It adapts to every single image. Would be cool to have an option to disable this adapting feature, especially useful for timelapses. Have anyone encountered this problem with Camera RAW?
Maybe someone knows a plugin for Premiere and AE that has direct slider for Temperature and Tint?

@mandurphy: If you haven't already done so, you might want to submit a formal feature request: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform&loc=en
You're also welcome to post "Me too" in as many threads as you like, but doing that a hundred times will not get as much attention from the decision-makers in charge of the feature priorities as submitting a single genuine feature request.

  • Camera Raw to jpeg in Elements 8

How do I save camera raw images as jpeg after editing? I do not see jpeg as an option on the save as drop down.

Camera Raw images are 16-bit. JPEG's only support 8-bit color information. As mentioned above, once they have been processed through the Camera Raw plug-in, you can open them for editing at 8-bit. You can also convert an already open 16-bit image to 8-bit by going to Image > Mode > 8-bit.
