There is some info starting on this page:  http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4728
Note the link to the ReadMe file, which contains some release notes (though very terse):  http://www.adobe.com/special/photoshop/camera_raw/Camera_Raw_6.1_ReadMe.pdf
There is some insight to be gained by becoming familiar with the Adobe Lens Profile Creator:  http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/lensprofile_creator/
But I have to agree with you that the new features are presently somewhat underdocumented.

I would recomend not to wait till the patch is live rather get that resolved now, so that we are sure that your update from live works.
Can you please verify if OOBE folder is present in Program Files\Commo
    n Files\Adobe\ folder?
If not, can you please reinstall the CS5 product in order to get that folder and then try installing 6.2 again?

Here is a draft of my final release notes for working with Lightroom 3 and Camera Raw 5.7:
Viewing Lightroom 3 settings in Camera Raw 5.7
Before working in conjunction with Lightroom 3 and Camera Raw please set the Camera Raw preference to: Save image settings in: Sidecar ".xmp" files.  By default Camera Raw will display the image adjustments exactly as performed in Lightroom’s develop module.  However, at this time Camera Raw 5.7 is unable to support further adjustments to the following settings or tools:
Highlight      Priority and Color Priority post-crop vignette
Enhanced      Luminance and Color Noise Reduction
    Grain effects
    Process Version
Lightroom is also dependent on a compatible version of the Camera Raw plug-in for the "Edit in Photoshop" functionality to work properly.  Camera Raw 5.7 will ensure that Lightroom 3 beta 2 will maintain that compatible functionality with Photoshop CS4.

That seems to clarify the interoperability of ACR 5.7 and LR 3.  Thank you for that, Mr. Hogarty.
Now, for the benefit of those of use who are not and/or will not be using Lightroom 3 for whatever reason, perhaps Mr. Chan or you can address the question of whether ACR 5.7 RC has a different or improved Noise Reduction functionality over that of ACR 5.6, and/or whether this will be the case for the final, GM release of ACR 5.7.  Let's leave any and all versions of LR out of the equation for a second, please.
I think I see improved Noise Reduction in ACR 5.7 RC, but I wonder if this is real or whether I've just improved my skills in handling the noise reduction sliders since earlier versions.
    Thanks.

Loaded on a plain vanilla XP system with no problems.  However, I respectfully request you get rid of the setup 64 bit splash screen, can be confusing to those of us with 32 bit systems.  It could easily be interpreted as indicating one has downloaded the wrong software.

You have a wild hair about Bridge, Noel?
Not at all.  I like good tools, and from everything I read Bridge is marvelous.  I don't have anything against Bridge, I just don't need it.
As a computer engineer, I use my computer for WAY more than just Photoshop.  As such, I do everything I can to have the operating system (via Windows Explorer) integrate things for me.
For example, via right-click or double-click or drag and drop onto icons:
I access my configuration management system from Explorer (Tortoise SubVersion).
I do searches (grepWin) from Explorer.
I compare things (Beyond Compare) from Explorer.
I start Photoshop and other image tools on raw and processed image files I manage with Explorer.
I start my development tools (Visual Studio and a host of utilities) from Explorer (e.g., double click .sln files).
I access my web sites with Explorer (via WebDrive).
I get file paths from Explorer (right click, Send to Clipboard as Name).
I access office management apps from Explorer (e.g., double click .doc or .xls files).
This is an abbreviated list.  Explorer can be a VERY powerful integrator, and is at the center of my computing world at a higher level.  So now you can start to imagine why I prefer Explorer for image work.

Additional details on how to get this new camera support for legacy versions of Photoshop (CS2, CS3 and CS4):
Why doesn’t my version of Photoshop or Lightroom support my camera?

Incidentally, that was the essential reasoning behind the creation of DNG.
A point ostensibly lost on some people who seem to think all camera manufacturers’ RAW-formats are somehow Adobe’s responsibility and are flabbergasted when ACR-support for a new camera’s RAW is not instantly available.
I suppose some manufacturers are convinced that their proprietary software will produce superior results from their RAW-files (a point I can’t dispute as I don’t have the experience with those programs) and are subsequently understandably loath to have them processed with ACR.
But many users seem to be willing to trade off those possibly better results for the convenience of working with software they are familiar with and that plays well with Photoshop – I certainly am.

  • Camera Raw 5.2 and DNG Converter Available - Note from Adobe

Camera Raw 5.2 and the DNG Converter is now available:

Lightroom will be updated to version 2.2 with equivalent camera support in December.
    Regards,

Lightroom, Camera Raw and DNG Product Manager

Well, I managed to locate and download both the ACR 5.2 and the DNG 5.2, but it was a bit of a challenge. I have a couple of comments regarding the DNG installation.
As a sometime OS beta tester, I have developed a habit of keeping C:\ for the operating system only. When a new OS or beta is issued, I just format C: and install the new OS. I try to keep applications off C:. It is hard, though, with all the default installations. It would be nice to have the option to install DNG.exe in my applications partition.
My workflow involves importing NEF's from the memory card to a folder, and at the same time converting those NEF's to DNG's and putting them in a different folder in a different partition. Both these NEF's and DNG's are archived. A copy of the DNG's are used as working images. The virtue of DNG's is that there are no sidecar files to keep track of when exporting images. Unless I really mess up, I never go back to the NEF's again. I guess that I am an "outlier" too. I guess that this is essentially the 5 - A "double DNG-only" workflow, using type 2, the native-DNG-DNG system. This is discussed in detail by Barry Pearson at http://www.barrypearson.co.uk/articles/dng/safety.htm#personal
I do like the camera profiles. I previously have used the Fors script. My Nikon D200 lacked red and the Fors script fixed that. Not surprisingly, different profiles are appropriate for different image types. Is there any way of determining the methodology and reasoning between the different profiles, and what specific problems each one is designed to correct. This might permit better matching profiles to image types, with less trial and error.

  • Premiere Elements 13/13.1 Photoshop Camera Raw 9.0 Release

This evening I noticed that Photoshop Camera Raw 9.0 was released and available for download and install using an opened project's Help Menu/Update.
The download and install went well for Photoshop Elements 13/13.1 and Premiere Elements 13/13.1 on Windows 7 64 bit and Windows 8.1 64 bit computers.
The Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in enables Premiere Elements to import raw image format files and dng files as source media into its project. But, Photoshop Elements is needed to open and edit the Camera Raw image in the Camera Raw editing workspace. The following link appears to have an up to date list of Camera Raw version and supported cameras.
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
It is necessary for the Camera Raw plug-in to support the camera and for the Camera Raw plug-in to be supported by the version of Photoshop Elements/Premiere Elements.
The DNG Converter 9.0 is also available but is downloaded from
For Windows Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows : Adobe DNG Converter 9.0
For Mac Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh : Adobe DNG Converter 9.0

There is a disable pan and zoom option for the new Video Story feature after all. Although the dialog showing its existence was shown in the document cited in the previous post, the route to get there was not.
Here is what I found...After opening Video Story feature and selecting a theme and feature assets, I will subsequently get to the section Story Assets where I drag the assets into individual Chapter spaces. After that is done, I click Next which results in "Processing". After the "Processing" is completed, I get a view for "Detail View". I needed to switch from "Detail View" to "Overview" to see a layout of all the Chapters, each Chapter having options which included Edit Chapter.
    a. In the Overall view, I went to the Chapter of interest and clicked on the "Edit Chapter" button at the bottom of that Chapter display.
    b. The first screenshot displays what I saw after hitting "Edit Chapter". When I brought the mouse cursor in contact with the picture of interest, the blue icon pointed to in the first screenshot appeared. And, when I double clicked that blue icon,
I am presented with the display where I can change the pan and zoom options for one or all.
    Please see second screenshot below.

  • Camera RAW 6.3 release date?

I recently bought the Nikon P7000 and love carrying it around everywhere
Problem is, it's not supported in Camera RAW 6.2
    I have a Windows 7 system with CS5
I am assuming that RAW 6.3 will have the .NRW file support, just curious when it will be released?
If it's not going to be for a while, then I guess I have to stick to shooting RAW + JPG

That's great news!  I bought a Canon Powershot G12 on Saturday and I'm not a huge fan of the DPP software.  I must say that I'm more than impressed by Photoshop CS5 - mind you, I'm using a brand new PC, Windows 7 64-bit, 6GB very fast RAM.
Happy days!  All I need now is some decent sunshine and autumn colours.

The following maintenance release updates are now available from My Oracle Support:

Download these releases from My Oracle Support, or go to Downloads on OTN for download instructions.

I'm getting bugged by my gf.. she has an unbranded 5800, a CV but it's stuck on v21.. problem is, her phone is hanging at the start of, during, and at the end of calls.. locking up hard. Thing is, we've never installed anything new on the phone with the exception of the maps update.. She does use it as an alarm clock, so I guess she'd be particularly miffed at it being inaccurate (like I was with my N97.. I now use a real alarm clock instead.. pittyful, I know!)
Introducing timing issues.. I think she can cope with.. She's not using it to read/access email she really just wants a working phone.. I didn't realise how bad it had got until I observed its performance first hand over a day.. 2 crashes! ouch!
So, seeing as Nokia haven't released a CV variant for this product code since v21 (which was very late when it came out earlier this year) and it is very nearly a year old.. is it worth forcing the update issue to try and get a Euro generic v31? Has anyone else noticed basic usage stability improvements? That's the key thing.. new features, speed aren't too important.. its the ability to answer a call without removing the battery that's getting her down

That's the clipping warning, which you can turn off by clicking on the triangle at the upper right hand corner of the histogram in the ACR preview. That means
your image is overexposed and all those red spots represent areas that are
    totally blown out.
You can try to rescue them with the Exposure and Recovery slider.

Hello, Ive been trying to get the profiler to work for the last week with my Fuji 9100 camera. When I attempt to use the chart method the two dots are reversed on the color samples the #6 bluish green is swaped with #19 white. If I move them to the proper square I get a unable to build chart please reshoot message. If I leave them where they are I get a truely awful color balance. Until recently the Adobe Raw processing has be working these images upside down. An additional issue is since installing the new camera raw 4.6 the check box for importing RAW files and convert to DNG is not accessable.
