Camera RAW 6.4.1.145 Memory problem?

I am using CS5 with the above version of camera raw.
I have windows XP with 4G ram. When I try to convert raw files to 16 bit tiff files I get the message "Insufficent memory".
I am unable to process my raw files from a Canon 5D mk2.
I have no other programes running in the background.
What is going on?

Each major version of CS works with one major version series of ACR so CS5 works with the ACR 6.x series.
CS5 installs with ACR 6.0 and 6.1 is the first upgrade after that.
You can check the readme files, linked on each version's update page, for each of the ACR 6.x's to determine if one of them started to support your camera or if they all do.
You can look in your Photoshop preferences to see the memory limit and allocation percent/amount, which you say in your next answer you've already done, but haven't said what amount of memory you saw Photoshop saying it could use.  You could also check the amount of memory Photshop.exe is using by looking in the process tab of Task Manager when Photoshop is running.
The Image Processor is on the Bridge menus.
It sounds like you're adjusting all the RAWs in ACR and then clicking Done, which is good, and only trying to convert one at a time, which is also good.  Have you tried opening one RAW in ACR and then clicking Open instead of Save and saving the TIF from Photoshop?  It sounds like you don't have very much memory available on your system, but I'd think one RAW at a time would be ok.
I would go back just one version of ACR to start with, which would be 6.3, in case that works ok.  If not then go all the way back to 6.1 or whatever the oldest version of ACR 6.x that supports your camera is.
If you feel comfortable doing it, you might upload one of the RAW files you're working with along with its XMP to www.YouSentIt.com or signup and use DropBox.com or some other larger-file-sharing service, and then post the download link, here, so others can try the same thing.  I happen to be on a 32-bit machine at home and could see if it'd work for me and check how much memory is used.
For the record, on my 32-bit machine, just now, with only Photoshop loaded and Outlook e-mail, Photoshop's preferences are reporting I have 1640MB memory available with 70% of that allocated by default.  What memory available number to you have?

  • Lightroom 1.1 - Adobe Camera RAW 4.1 (Bridge, Photoshop CS3) problem

    Dear all,
I am having some problems with the appearance of files developed in adobe lightroom 1.1 or in adobe camera raw 4.1 from e.g. bridge or photoshop cs3. When developing in lightroom the images look great, however when using acr 4.1 and the same xmp sidecar settings imported from lightroom, the image in acr looks very pale in comparison. For example when using the export into photoshop option in Lightroom, the image in PS3 looks very pale to the one in lightroom. The same problem persists with developing using ACR 4.1 from bridge. I have turned autotoning in ACR off. Also in the color management of PS CS3, the desaturate checkbox is UNchecked.
I am using an icc profile for my 30" cinema display, calibrated with colory eyes pro and a spyder2.
Has anybody had similar problems with ACR 4.1 or am I just doing something horribly simple wrong?
    Thanks for your help!
    Immanuel

    Thomas,
thanks for your reply. In Mac OS X Preview the images look all good and very much like what I see in Lightroom. In any case not as pale or like with a slight white overcast to what I see when using ACR 4.1 from Bridge or Photoshop CS3. In PS color settings, preserving embedded profiles is checked. Yes, it seems to me as well that this is some color management issue. The 30" Cinema display was calibrated using Color Eyes Pro and Spyder2 to Gamma 2.2 and 6500 temp. However, even when reverting to the standard Apple color profile for the monitor, the problem persists.
    No luck so far...

  • Camera Raw v8.7.1 Adjustment Brush Problem

I’m using Adobe Bridge and my problem is in Adobe Camera Raw 8.7 and 8.7.1 itself. The Adjustment Brush cursor clicked position and the actual area that will be painted is not in the same area. As you can see the picture shown below, the actual painted area is being offset about one cm away from the cursor clicked position. Only the Adjustment Brush is affected. What's more, the cursor is larger than usual and the color changes to black instead of white. Hope someone can help to give a solution or hopefully Adobe can fix the problem.

Another user has the same issue, I recommend submitting a bug report. Re: Is this a bug or a flaw in my install?
You might try rolling back to 8.6 an see if that helps: Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows : Adobe DNG Converter 8.6

  • Camera raw wont open!

hi, iv been struggling to open canon cr2 files in camera raw, every time i try i get the message  "Camera Raw editing is not enabled. Camera Raw editing required that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature."
im am using -  mac OS X 10.6.8, and both bridge and photoshop are CS5. and my camera is a cannon 500d
i was told that downloading a dmv converter or a camera raw plug in might solve this problem but i dont know if this is reliable or where i would even find them.
i really need this software working asap for uni so i hope someone can help x

The D3300 has been supported since Camera Raw version 8.4. So have you downloaded the trial version of Photoshop CC? Are you sure what version of Camera Raw you are using? In Photoshop go to Help->about plug-ins->Camera Raw, and it will tell you what version is installed.

  • Color differences between Camera RAW 6.2 and Photoshop CS5

    Hi,
    I have got two problems:
Everytime I open a raw file in Camera Raw, the picture is a bit darker than in Photoshop. The difference is very annoying...
    and, apart from that,
       2. The pictures in Adobe Bridge look much more saturated and darker than in Camera RAW or Photoshop. The result of my research was, that I have to go to "Edit -> Bridge Color Pre-Settings" and choose the right color-management. But when I klick on the button, it says that the function is something like deactivated. Someone said, I have to buy the entire Creative Suite to activate this function? Is that true?
The color profile I work with: sRGB
I already updated Bridge, Camera RAW and Photoshop. But the problem still exists...
Does anyone know the problems and may help me?
    Thanks a lot!
    -Aldo

    Thanks for your replies.
A few minutes ago I calibrated my display again. Now, the difference between ACR and Photoshop seems to be even greater.
When the calibration was finished, the software offered a before/after-button (Before and after calibration). The "Before-image" was much more dark than the "after-image". Just as dark as the photo is in ACR(!).
Maybe there's a connection. I think Photoshop uses the right profile (the profile generated by the Spyder2Express), but ACR uses some different wrong profile.

    Chris Cox wrote:
Hmm, they should be the same.
How did you calibrate your display?  Where did the display profile come from?
The profile called "Spyder2express.icm" was saved in C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color

  • How do I backup Camera Raw Database?

I have my 'how to save image options' setting set to 'in camera raw database' instead of individual xmp files which i find cluttersome and I view my folders outside of bridge so hiding them in bridge doesn't help me.
I've read (on here) that if you use the database method if you so much as move a folder or move a file then you lose your settings for the file. Well I can move a folder, or file, or rename the folder or file (all in windows explorer with no adobe products running) and bridge/acr still load up all the settings..
So this brings me to my question, when backing up my raw files, besides the image files, what do I need to backup to ensure that it also backs up my settings? Thanks

There are TWO caches. The Bridge cache and the Camera Raw cache. You need to purge the Bridge cache. You need to the Bridge menue to do that, not the use button in the Camera Raw preferences dialog, which purge the Camera Raw cache, which is not the problem.

Purging the cache does not lose any edits in CS2 when working with raw files.

  • Camera Raw 8 very slow(unuseable) in Photoshop CS6

Camera Raw 7 had it's major problems with Photoshop CS6 but had a few improvements to speed with the last update on my system. The update to Raw 8 has slowed everything down again to a painful 3-4 second wait before controls, crop tool etc. responds. Anyone else getting this? it seems deja-vu with Adobe. Completely unusuable for any day to day work. Back to CS5 again....?
    Running Macpro 8 core 2.66 32gb RAM

First a reminder, these are user to user forums, not a channel to address Adobe directly.
I don't see any slowdown in ACR 8.1 hosted by Photoshop 13.0.5 under Lion 10.7.5 on my MacPro 1,1 Quad.
Try setting the Noise Reduction to zero and tell us if you see any difference.
What exact version of the OS are you running?

  • Photoshop CC doesn't open my camera raw files from my new Nikon D800 (ACR v 8.3.0.141)

However, it opens camera raw files from my D300 without problems.
Same for Bridge: NEF files are displayed as generic thumbs.
    Can anyone help me?

I don't use the Nikon software, but I believe that the latest version of Nikon Transfer works fine. I think it comes with ViewNX2, which is a free download, AFAIK.
I personally download my photos using a card reader and Adobe Bridge (which comes with Photoshop, and contains Adobe Photodownloader).  Not sure, but I think it's included with Lightroom & Elements too (but I don't use those either).  Using Photodownloader has the added advantage of being able to add metadata at the same time.

  • Camera raw crash

    I use imac 4 core i7, 8GB ram, os 10.6.3
    Trial install of CS5 extd.
Open NEF file in camera raw (have tried 6.0 and 6.1)  Select spotting brush. Proceed to correct dust spots, etc. When I need to remove spotting circles to evaluate the image, I press "v". Spotting circles hidden, as expected.
When press "v" to show spotting circles again, camera raw (and image) are immediately gone from screen. There is a loud "click" which occurs simultaneously with the losing of the image. There is no dialog box and no crash report is generated. PSCS5 itself does not crash.
I downloaded camera raw 6.1 and get same problem. Have uninstalled CS5  and reinstalled to get back to camera raw 6.0. Still same problem.
Have no problems with CS4 and camera raw.
    Grateful for any advice.

    Chris
I thank you and apologize to you and all readers.
My problems with photoshop and camera raw were due to use of a utility app called TYPINATOR. It apparently intercepted  the keyboard shortcuts and resulted in the bizarre behavior that I was having with camera raw.
I disabled TYPINATOR and this behavior has ceased.
I SHOULD POINT OUT THAT THERE IS A NEW VERSION OF TYPINATOR AND PERHAPS THE CONFLICT HAS BEEN CORRECTED.
I admit to being a moron. No need to aggravate the ACR team!

  • Camera Raw won't open certain JPG files from Bridge, others open in ACR with no problem.

Edit: This was orignally posted in the Photoshop > Macintosh forum, which I failed to realize was read only. Thanks to a PM headsup, I'm reposting it here. Thanks
I've searched the internet and the Adobe forums and cannot find a direct answer to what I'm dealing with.
The issue I am having is that Bridge CS5 (current version 4.0.5.11) will open some JPG images in Raw with no problem and others nothing happens at all. All the images come from the same source (Fujifilm Frontier SP2000) so I really don't understand why Bridge ignores some of them as being openable in RAW. For example, say this roll of film has 36 images. If I "Select All", right click, and select "Open in Camera Raw", it will open whichever it deems acceptable in RAW and nothing happens at all to the others (The RAW dialog will, for instance, only open 10 images instead of all 36, and the remaining images are not altered in any way).
I've made sure that Photoshop is prefering Adobe Camera Raw with Supported Raw Files and in Camera Raw Preferences I have the box ticked to Automatically open JPGs with Settings but nothing helps.
My work around is to one file at a time in the Photoshop Open dialog, selecting an affected JPG file and have it open them as Camera Raw instead of Jpeg.
Any ideas? It's done this for quite a while and I have no idea how to fix it.
    Thanks.

    Cary,
It could be an insufficient memory problem.  Please supply details about your machine.

  • Bridge or camera RAW - not enough memory to run Nikon D800 large 50 MB files  Any suggestions?

Does any one have the same problem trying to work with Nikon D800 large files (50MB !) and Camera RAW ??
Even with one image opend when I click Done I get a message Bridge is low on memory - Restart.   Also the tumbnails preview  and full scree becomes blank!
    I have CS5 / Camera RAW 5.7  Computer Windows XP  4 G Memory
Is it a Bridge issue or Camera RAW issue?    Any proven solution?
    Thanks
    Dov

    I have CS5 / Camera RAW 5.7  Computer Windows XP  4 G Memory
Could you provide more details about your configuration?
This info can't be right, CS5 comes with ACR 6.7 and Windows XP needs at least servicepack 3 to my knowledge.
4 GB RAM might be sufficient but is not much, do you have also the 64 bit installation?
And did you reset the preferences for Bridge also.
Maybe Curt hops in, I am a Mac user and don't know very much about Windows I'm afraid

  • Camera Raw 5.3 insufficient memory

I am editing a 135mb rgb tif in CR. Adjustments are successful but saving out fails due to insufficient memory message. Win xp quad core 2.4 4mb ram

Forgive my ignorance, but I'm still a wee bit confused.
Firstly, I should have written in my last post (which I can't edit for some reason, though I can edit all my other posts) that, with PS open, I can open a TIFF in ACR by choosing File/Open As (not File/Open, as I wrote above) choosing 'Camera Raw' from the Files of type menu and then highligting the file and choosing open. All very well and all as described here> http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/404/kb404656.html
However, oddly, unlike when I choose File/Open, the File/Open As option does not appear to allow me to choose a bunch of files from the folder (via Ctrl and clicking on each in turn) and then open them in ACR - only one at a time. Since I use ACR via Bridge for applying general changes to an entire folder of TIFFs (after they have been processed in Flexcolor), being able to open more than one at a time is crucial for me.
Please tell me I'm doing something wrong. Otherwise, I'm going back to 5.3.
    Thanks.
    D.
    Edited:
    Sorted!
I've left my post above un-edited in case it might be of help to those who were having the same problem. But, here is the solution.............
    1. In PS, under Edit/Preferences/Camera Raw, under Jpeg and TIFF handling, 'Automatically open all supported Jpegs/TIFFs' *must* be selected in the drop down menus, not 'Automaticall open Jpegs/TIFFs with settings', which is what was selected on my computer (is that the default setting?).
    2. Now when I choose File/Open (not File/Open as) and then 'Camera Raw' from the 'Files of type' drop down menu (leaving All Formats selected does not make ACR an option when you click on a file and choose 'Open with ...') I can Ctrl/click on a bunch of images and they will all open in ACR.
I just tried this on a folder of 14 220Mb files followed by a folder of 18 220Mb files. I made a change to them in ACR and then saved them. It ran through them like a train! If I had tried this via Bridge, it would have choked on any more than four or five files.
One very happy camper! ;-) I'm now getting full use of my x64bit/8Gb setup. Thanks to Jeff for bringing this neat work around to my attention.
    Two further points:
    1. In PS, after choosing File/Open, with 'All formats' selected, it would be nice to have ACR as a choice under 'Open with....' rather than having to select Camera Raw in 'Files of type'. Is it possible to edit the selection of programs offered in the 'Open with...' menu and add ACR?
    2. When opening a large number of large files in ACR, the yellow triangle with the exclamation point appears over each file and disappears as each file is cached(?). The only way of knowing if the files further down the list have settled is by either scrolling down through them, or checking to see if the green light on the front of the computer tower has stopped flickering. It would be nice if ACR had something on screen (similar to the rotating circle that appears in PS when you are saving changes to a file) to indicate that it has done its thing.

  • Problem loading large DNG images with Camera RAW!

    Hello,
When loading large DNGs with Camera RAW 4.4 (for example, DNG dimensions are 9984x6656) CS3 says "cannot open the image because this is not a right kind of a document". EXACTLY THE SAME file is loaded without a problem using Camera RAW 3.7 and 4.0 (did not test other versions). Have you specially prevented loading of large files? Wouldn't it be better to provide this as an option? It's a real disappointment - new version of plugin CANNOT do the thing that older versions CAN. (Simply using older version is not an option, as I need to load RAWs from new cameras, like Canon 450D).
Dear Adobe, please correct this problem :)

It might be wise to give some insight like how the DNG was created, by what version of what software, if ACR is hosted in Photoshop or Bridge... What platform you are using, how much RAM, memory allocation, etc.
