Camera Raw 7.3 plugin.

Hi all,
I currently have CS5 and Lightroom 4.3. I have just bought a new D600 camera and cannot seem to use RAW files in CS5. I have read similar previous questions in forums, tried their advice and and come up with nothing.
I tried to download the dng converter but that just seems to be a seperate program that simply converts RAW files to dng ??? Am I missing something here ???
I cannot use the Panorama function in CS5 without converting files and even then it acts in a different fashion to what I am used to. Since I changed cameras its just a nightmare.
Both CS5 and LR 4.3 tell me that I am up to date in the update menu. Surely I don't have to buy CS6 just because I have a new camera ???
Totally lost, can anybody help ??
Many thanks,
Dave.

I think it's unreasonable to expect software that was released BEFORE the camera came out to be compatible with new undocumented raw file formats. In point of fact, it's a problem caused by the camera makers failure to adopt any standards regarding raw file formats. If Nikon had adopted a raw file format such as DNG (at least as an option) the camera would be supported all the way back to Camera Raw 2.4 that shipped with Photoshop CS.
Alas, the camera makers release new cameras that forces users and developers to update their software.
Some camera makers (such as Leica) have adopted DNG and their new cameras ship with backwards compatibility built in.
You've been told about the DNG converter...but you may wish to upgrade to CS6 because the raw file processing in ACR 7.x has been improved and you'll maintain better integration between LR & PS. That will help you maximize the benefits you'll get from your new camera.

  • Camera Raw 5.6 plugin with photoshop CS3

I have just bought a Canon 7D and downloaded the Camera Raw 5.6 plugin. When trying to install the screen reads 'cannot install the plugin' I have creative suite CS3 for windows XP, is this the problem?
Any help would be much appreciated.

    Cheers and thanks
Lightroom 2 is still the shipping version of that program, so it is upgraded to support new cameras from time to time, as well as possibly make a few other changes.  As soon as Lightroom 3 is released there will be no more support for Lightroom 2.  New cameras will then no longer be supported.  Photoshop CS3 has been out of production for quite some time now, and has been replaced by CS4.  This is just the circle of life with Adobe software.

  • Can someone send me the Camera Raw 8.6 plugin?

It happens every time there's an ACR update. Lightroom installs its own (secretly held) version. Lightroom starts complaining that Pshop does not have the latest plugin. Meanwhile, neither Photoshop nor its Update menu item nor Adobe Application Manager nor Creative Cloud apps have any idea there's an update out there. And the standalone installer always fails.
Will someone be kind enough to send me the latest plugin? For Mac.
    Thanks, David

    Try this installer.
It's different from the normal standalone camera raw installers.

Message received "Some updates failed to install", "Update is not applicable"
Spent 45 minutes yesterday on chate with CS to get this to work on my Toshiba notebook.  Now I'm having same problem on my MacBook Pro.  Need installed for PSE 10 so I can work with raw files from my Canon 5D Mark iii.
Really, why is this such a hassle

Mk III files require ACR 7.1 from Labs, not 6.7.

Why do you assume, after upgrading to a new OS from Apple, that anything will work afterward?  It's not like Apple gives a dang about maintaining compatibility with anything you already have.

  • I need a camera raw plugin for sony raw files

Hello there,  I got a new Sony A99 camera and I need a Camera Raw update for Adobe Bridge CS5.  I can see my old Sony files from my A580 but the new once are not showing up.  Where can I get an update for my CS5 bridge software?
    Thanks
    Fred

Which operating system are you using?
Have you tried Help>Updates from within photoshop cs6 to get either camera raw 8.3 or 8.7.1, which should enable photoshop cs6 to open the canon 5D Mark III files.
(version of camera raw depends on your operating system)
If that doesn't work try one of the following camera raw plugin installers:
    Camera raw 8.7.1 plugin
    https://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/camera-raw-plug-in-installer.html
If you have windows xp or vista or mac os x snow leopard (10.6.8), then you'll have to use the camera raw 8.3 plugin installer:

  • Adobe Bridge in Photoshop - How to install Bridge and camera raw? And what is it all about?

Hi everyone! I am actually in love with this adobe photoshop. I used PSCS2 before, but later on upgraded to CS4. But I feel tired in upgrading to CS5.
One time, I found a tutorial in youtube about camera raw, and would really want to use it. But I was wondering how to install the camera raw. I believe camera raw is a plugin? so I downloaded the plugin here, installed it in my PS. I downloaded a file Camera Raw.8bi and paste it on my C drive - C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop CS4\Plug-ins\File Formats.
I now am very confused, how will I open it? I do not have adobe bridge!  After I installed the camera raw, I opened my PS. I clicked the file>then browse in bridge. I had an error, it's "error 2 photoshop11 undefined". Which is what I thought, I might have done something wrong with installing it.
My question is, do you still need adobe bridge installed in order to use camera raw?
If yes, how does it work? How am I suppose to open camera raw?
If no, how am I going to open camera raw without bridge?
And also, where will I download adobe bridge? I cannot find one here for CS4, only adobe bridge for CS5. I am wondering, is it okay to install adobe bridge CS5 and use it with my PS CS4?
    I badly need help!

WebDAV (Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning) is a set of extensions to HTTP/1.1.
The main difference from FTP as far as I can see is that it allows you to edit documents on a remote web server.
WebDAV was used by the Apple server - MobileMe but is not generally supported by hosting services.
Using WebDAV you can mount a directory locally. This was how iDisk worked on your Mac and you could drag files onto it to upload them to the remote directory.
With WebDAV, a number of users can share a directory which is why its used in local networks but presents security problems when using a remote server.
If you are into file sharing rather than publishing, Dropbox or its new rival SugarSync are more appropriate.

  • Photoshop Elements 9 and Adobe Camera RAW 6.6

My Significant Other just purchased a Nikon 1 V1 camera. I have an extra copy of Elements 9 that I can install on her computer. According to the Release Notes, support for the Nikon 1 V1 started with ACR 6.6. According to the same Release Notes, ACR 6.6 runs under Photoshop Elements 9.
"This new version of the Camera Raw plug-in replaces the original Camera Raw plug-in that was installed with Photoshop CS5, Photoshop Elements 9 and Premiere Elements 9. "
    and
"The Camera Raw 6.6 plug-in is not compatible with versions of Photoshop earlier than Photoshop CS5 or versions of Photoshop Elements earlier than Photoshop Elements 8 for Windows and Photoshop Elements 8 for Mac. "
The Photoshop Elements update page, however, suggest that ACR 6.5 was the last version of ACR that ran under Photoshop Elements 9. http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=40&platform=Windows
Which is correct, the Release Notes or the Update Page?

After you install photoshop elements 9 on the vista machine follow the steps below to install the camera raw 6.6 plugin:
    1. Download the 6.6 DNG Converter and install the profiles:
       http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5310
    2. Download the 6.6 camera raw plugin zip file:
       http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5316
    3. Unzip the folder by right clicking on folder and choosing Extract All
    4. Inside the extracted folder doulble click on the Payloads folder
    5. Then double click on the CameraRawForElements6.4All-011211045300 folder
(should be the second folder with a size of 16.0 mb)
    6. Right click on the Assets2_1.zip and choose Extract All
    7.  Rename the file from 1002 to Camera Raw.8bi
    8. Right click on the Camera Raw.8bi and choose Copy
    9 Go to:
      C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 9\File Formats (64 bit vista)
      or
      C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\Elements 9\File Formats (32 bit vista)
    10. Drag the old camera raw plugin to the Recycle Bin and right click in the empty space in the folder and choose Paste
Start the pse 9 editor and under Help>About Plug-In>Camera Raw should hopefully say version 6.6.

  • Can't get the Camera Raw update to 8.3

OK, this happens every time there is an update. I see that Adobe has an update for Photoshop CC, but the Creative Clod Desktop application says it is up to date, which it isn't. Have contacted Adobe support many times Twice today, the Chat people cut me off while transferring.
    What I have already done:
Since I have been through this many times, I know the standard drill well.
Log in and out via the desktop app. even go so far as to log out, quit, reboot the computer and log back in. Didn't help.
Delete the AAM & OOBE(?) stuff and do the same thing. Didn't help.
Uninstall and reinstall the Photoshop CC application. Reinstalled the 8.2 version of the plugin.
Uninstall and reinstall the Creative Clod Desktop application. Didn't help.
Contacted Adobe support and got cut off twice.
FWIW, I have a permanent license for Lightroom and got an update notice for it via the old style updater and it worked fine, but now I get a notice when I try to go to Photoshop that I need the Camera Raw 8.3 plugin which Adobe refuses to let me get.
This happens with every update, but the trick that worked the last time never works again. To say I am frustrated would be a massive understatement.

Oldbalddude to determine the exact cause of the installation failure I would recommend reviewing the installation log for Camera RAW update.  Please see Troubleshoot install issues with log files | CC - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cc.html for information on how to locate and interpret your installation log file.  Please feel free to post any specific errors you discover to this discussion thread.

  • CS3 - Adobe Camera Raw 4.6

I just got a Nikon D300 camera and now need something to read RAW camera files.
From what I could tell, the Adobe Camera Raw 4.6 plugin was what I needed for CS3.
I did download it, but when I double-clicked on the Camera_Raw_4_6 file, it installed itself into my Photoshop Elements 7.0.
(I think Photoshop Elements 7.0 will take a later version of the camera raw file, but not sure if CS3 will)
Anyway, how do I get the camera raw plugin to install in CS3.
    Ron in Round Rock
P.S.  It does work in Photoshop Elements (i.e. I can read RAW .nef files), but I want it to work in CS3.

Hey guys, thanks a whole bunch.
Yes, all the Camera Raw files were where they were supposed to be.  I had a couple of Camera Raw files hanging out in temp locations and I deleted them, but it didn't help.
Then I started looking a little more closely at the Camera Raw file in the CS3 File Formats folder -- and noticed that it was a different size than the one un-zipped in my Download folder (the place where I save downloads and I did the un-zip there).  The old Camera Raw file was around 9.7 MB while the new one was 10.4 MB.
Anyway, I went back to the download folder, picked up the latest Camera Raw there and replaced the one in the CS3 File Formats folder and everything works great now, both CS3 and Elements.
P.S.  As I was typing this, I had a tendency to type KB instead of MB for the plugins (10 MB for a plugin, are you kidding me).  I guess that shows you just how old I am -- well let's just say I was around when they invented computers -- and back when 64KB was a lot of memory -- and now 64MB is small and we are working with GB now, soon to be TB.  Anyway, the other thing I wanted to mention was that the Camera Raw file in CS3 had a 2007 date on it, which was probably when I installed CS3 (couldn't find the version number listed anywhere).  So the Camera Raw file was there, but probably didn't have the support for the Nikon D300 camera at that time.  Everything worked on my desktop computer since I just replaced it a couple of months ago and had to reinstall everything.
Anyway, as I said, everything is working now.
IMPORTANT NOTE:  And for anyone else that is having a similar problem, this is the fix.  Check the dates on the Camera Raw file in your CS3 or Photoshop Elements File Format folders (thanks to the guys above for suppluying that location information) to make sure you are woking with the correct / current / right Camera Raw file.
Thanks again to everyone for pitching in on this.  You led me to finding the solution to the problem and I couldn't be happier.  This is the only place where a person like me, or probably anyone for that matter, can find this kind of help (personal and to the point).  Sorry to make this so long..

  • Camera raw 4.4 problem

I downloaded ACR 4.4 on my Mac, and Lightroom and Photoshop couldn't read files scanned on my Nikon Coolscan 4000. I read about the recall, and reinstalled both Lightroom 1.3 and Camera Raw 4.3 plugins. My scanned nef files are still unreadable by Adobe software.

First, set NikonScan to save your scans as Tiffs.
NikonScan software has a rather strange quirk:
If you Batch-scan to Tiffs those Tiffs will open in ACR.
However, if you scan only a SINGLE frame, that Tiff will NOT open in ACR.
There is a work-around (or at least it works for me):
In Bridge, Duplicate the errant Tiff (Cmd. D) and trash the original.
The duplicate should now open in ACR.

  • Camera RAW with new computer ?

New computer with Win 8.1...I use Photoshop CS5 and I have a Canon EOS600D. Please can you tell me which DNG converter I should download. Also will it combine with PS automatically or will I have to insert it in plugins for instance ?
    lea

Actually, you should be able to use camera raw 6.7 (plugin) in photoshop cs5, which should open those files into photoshop cs5.
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
If in photoshop cs5 you go to Help>About Plug-In and click on the words Camera Raw, what version does it say?
If it's a version number lower than 6.7, you get the camera raw 6.7 update from here:
Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows : Camera Raw 6.7.1 Update
You can also try Help>Updates from within photoshop cs5, but that may not work.

  • How do you Uninstall Camera Raw 5.5 and 5.6 updates

My 5.5 Raw Update was working well, then I decided to update to the 5.6 Raw plugin.  I was not happy with the colors and sharpness of the images opened with the 5.6 plugin.  I would like to thrash this and get back to 5.5.  However, PS E does not allow me to open any RAW images now and the Camera Raw Preference in Bridge does not open.  New updates cannot be installed either as my system say I have the 5.6 plugin installed.  How do I uninstall everything and get back to my 5.5 update? I cannot find the location of my 5.6 Raw plugin, I have looked under PS 4 Photoshop application folders as well as Bridge folders. Thanks for your help.

Finally, my problem was solved by Adobe Support, go to  : www.tinyurl.com/yfznztk and hit Enter.  Then manually download Camera Raw 5.5 plugin from their site.  Once its on your desktop highlight the "Plugin".  Copy this Plugin ( Command C), then open your Hard disk on the desktop and go to Application Support-Adobe CS4-File Format- hit command V to load the Camera Raw 5.5 into the Plugin Folder.  Then re-start computer. Now,  you should have a working Camera Raw 5.5.  Do not download the Camera Raw 5.6 as it is a Beta version meant for developers!
