but do you why 2010 is so slow compared to 2010 o 2003 ?
Just a suspicion:  Adobe is adding more and more compute-intensive functionality in the newer versions - for example image analysis that affects the way the PV2012 controls work - in anticipation of more and more powerful computers.  It's the normal way of things.
PV2012 seems to take about twice as long for me to complete a conversion than its predecessor.  But on my reasonably powerful computer that's the difference between 2 and 4 seconds - no problem, really.
I'm not sensing any difference in zoom speed.
everytime i load a canon raw file , it 's always to 2012!
what 's wrong?
I don't know.  Photoshop CS5 comes up with PV2010 for me for images I haven't opened before, because that's what I saved my Camera Raw Defaults as.   I don't use the camera serial number/ISO specificity settings though.
Are you thinking of updating to Photoshop CS6?  I mention this because the released version is available today.

  • Camera Raw 8.7.1.311 but it lacks several functions such as "fill-in"...

I have Elements 13, with plug-in Adobe Camera Raw 8.7.1.311, but it lacks several sliders such as "fill light", and lacks 7 of the editing functions such as 'detail'; this is PSE 13 home edition.
Is there a way I can upgrade ACR or Elements to achieve full ACR features?

Sorry fror the blank reply; I am new at this... think I understand now; Following is what I intended to send:
Thanks  to Jim Hess and Station_Two for your replies.
I had previously used PSE 5 (years ago).
Recently, a friend let me try ACR on his computer in order to 'test drive' ACR with some of my photos: he has PhotoShop
I loved Camera Raw (!!!), and assumed that the latest PSE (13) which comes with the ACR plug-in would have the latest  Camera Raw version, so I shelled out $139 for PSE 13.
That's when I found out that the version that comes with Elements 13 is limited in many ways.
It was suggested that I make a switch within Elements to a pre-2012 version of ACRaw;  I do not know how to do that: to change or upgrade ACR within Elements.  I see no ACR in my apps listing (I have a new Mac and am running Yosemite), nor any way to upor downgrade outside of Elements.
Any ideas or sites I could look at?
This is my first try at getting help via a forum.    Thanks for any advice you can give.

  • When is Camera Raw 8.7 coming out for Nikon D750

When is Camera Raw 8.7 coming out for Nikon D750.  I see everyone is having the same problem, we have the camera but can't download to Light room.

There is a release candidate for Camera Raw 8.7 that includes support for the camera. However, Lightroom does not use the Camera Raw plug-in. It is expected that support for the camera will be in the next Lightroom update, whenever that is released. But there is no release date because Adobe never announces that kind of information ahead of time. In the meantime, you could use the software that came with the camera to create TIF copies that could then be opened in Lightroom that you have now. Or, you could download the DNG converter 8.7 RC and create DNG copies that you could use now.

  • Camera raw slow tiff save

Camera Raw takes almost 2 seconds to save 103MB tiff file. (I use Photoshop CS6)
When i save a bunch of tiff files, camera raw uses only half of my CPU and half of my RAM. In addition, I use SSD that writes 530MB/s outside Photoshop. According to these specifications it should save 5 images within one second. But it doesnt. I believe there must be something wrong with the settings? Please help..

What you're seeing is probably normal - Camera Raw does take a few seconds to process a raw file, even on a powerful system.  It can grow to be longer if you select a lot of features in Camera Raw, such as noise reduction, sharpening, etc.
And, it's getting slower in general as Camera Raw becomes more feature-rich.
That reminds me, With version 8.1 I need to do some more benchmarks and add them to this thread:

  • Same select max is very slow in one program but fast in another

    Hi,
I have a report that becomes very slow these few months. I used SQL trace for the report and found out its these codes that slow down the report:
    SELECT MAX( mkpf~budat )
                  FROM mkpf
        INNER JOIN mseg
                       ON mseg~mblnr = mkpf~mblnr AND mseg~mjahr = mkpf~mjahr
                    INTO posting_date
               WHERE mseg~werks  = w_matl-batch_reservations-werks
                     AND mseg~charg  = w_matl-batch_reservations-charg
                     AND mseg~bwart  IN ('261', 'Z61').
The thing is these codes have been used in different system, DEV, QAS, and PRD. But only in PRD it is very slow, other systems are pretty fast.
I even created a local copy of that report in PRD, with the same code. The local file runs fast and perfectly. But the original code is just slow.
Just wondering if anybody met this problem too? any ideas??

    Hi Liu,
Index creation is not a advisable solution. Please follow the existing indexes by adding Mandt field.
    Try like this
    SELECT MAX( mkpf~budat )
                  FROM mkpf
        INNER JOIN mseg
                       ON mseg~mblnr = mkpf~mblnr AND mseg~mjahr = mkpf~mjahr
                    INTO posting_date
               WHERE mseg~mandt = sy-mandt
                      AND mkpf~mandt = sy-mandt
                      AND mseg~werks  = w_matl-batch_reservations-werks
                     AND mseg~charg  = w_matl-batch_reservations-charg
                     AND mseg~bwart  IN ('261', 'Z61').
    Hope it will be helpful.

  • I am running Photoshop CS5 on Win7. Don't want cloud version. New camera, so need update of camera raw. Clicked on update, but error in download.

I want to thank both of you for your help and thoughts. Yes I am a hobbyist, and photography is not one of my biggest hobbies. The possibility of an O/S upgrade breaking CS5 prompts me to think of another solution that has often been on my mind: Adobe could offer an alternative pricing model for the cloud service where I would pay per use rather than a flat monthly fee. "Per use" could be a coarse granularity such as "per day", in which case it would easily translate into dollars and cents, and to minimize credit card transaction costs it could be accumulated and charged once per month. It might also work like a prepaid phone service. Alternatively, "per use" could be finely granulated, e.g. as cpu milliseconds, maybe with micro-payments transacted many times per day using something like bitcoin. Being able to weigh cost vs benefit of what one is planning to do in the next few minutes is a wonderful way to achieve confidence in ones planned action and satisfaction in money well spent, which all encourages more business. Of course, there should be an option to lock the user interface from updating when new features are added, but that should be easy if the software is well structured to isolate the interface from the underlying capabilities.
The forthcoming Photoshop that runs on Chrome/Chromebooks might be something that Adobe might "meter" out to potential clients but right now, it's beta, is Windows-only and one still needs a Creative Cloud sub to join. Can't be out of the realm of possibility though since there's no software to install; it runs right in Chrome. It'd be perfect for the "run and gun" types that need Photoshop quickly...provided one knows how to use Photoshop.

  • Slow Zoom In/Out in XY Graph

I am experiencing very slow zoom in/zoom out in XY Graph.  Each action takes roughly 5 seconds.  Is this normal?
The anti-aliased is not On.  I am not using dash lines.
Can someone shed some light here?

As an approxmation use the number of points plotted equal to the number of pixels in the width of the plot area (for a line plot). If you feed the graph more points than it has pixels to display them, the code internal to the graph has to manipulate that data to determine where to place each pixel. When you drop a new XY graph on the front panel it has 250x250 pixels. When I stretched one to fill my screen I had 1580x862. So X-axis arrays larger than a few hundred to about two thousand elements will result in some data manipulation by the graph.

  • Plug in Camera RAW 8.4 is installed but is not werking in LR5 and CS5.

I have installed the latest update  camera RAW plug in but it does not work. I am not able to open CR foto's from LR to PS.

You’ve installed the Adobe Camera Raw 8.4 PLUG-IN for Photoshop.
The term Camera Raw also refers to the version of internal programming, a coyp of which is included in the plug-in and in Lightroom, and in the DNG Converter, although each has its own copy.
Updating the Photoshop ACR 8.4 plug-in that contains the CR engine 8.4 doesn’t change Lightroom 5.3 which contains the copy of the CR engine 8.3, still.
What we’re waiting for is the next version of Lightroom to be released, likely called LR 5.4, which has its copy of the Camera Raw engine 8.4.
The DNG Converter 8.4 beta has also been released and you can use it to create DNGs from your new camera’s raw files that will open in the older Lightroom, but I’d only do that experimentally, and not delete your original raws, in case something is changed by the time of the final release.

  • 'Camera Raw' slow to save JPGs

Once i apply my presets on raw images in camera raw i click to save all of the photos as JPGs. At the begining the saving takes 1.5-4 seconds per image. After saving for a while computer slows down and it takes almost 10 seconds to save one image.
It took more than 10 hours to save 4000 raw images as JPGs.  Any ideas how to fix this?

  • XMP from camera raw files: ACR SDK yes – but where from?

    Hi,
    the XMP docs state:
"… you should not pass a raw-format file directly to XMP Toolkit file handlers (XMPFiles), but should use the Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) SDK instead."
I'd love to, but where can I get the Adobe Camera Raw SDK? I couldn't find it. Am I blind?
    Any pointers are highly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance,
    Lars

ACR has little to do with getting your images into your computer; it's involved with opening your raw files (using development parameters you choose) into Photoshop to edit them, or to convert them to other formats.
Regarding Photoshop Elements integration with reading card images as part of your workflow, this isn't the best place to ask, as this forum is dedicated to the full version of Photoshop, which expects the user to control more of the low level operations himself/herself.  It would be better to ask in the Photoshop Elements forum:

  • Canon EOS 100D is listed as compatible in Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 6.01 but when I connect my camera a message appears telling it's not compatible with the operating system?

Canon EOS 100D is listed as compatible in Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 6.01 and when I have checked for software updates there are none available.  I've downloaded the Canon software, connected to my mac via the cable and followed the instructions in the manual.  Sadly I just get a message saying it's not compatible with the operating system.  I've tried inserting the memory card into the mac to and it doesn't seem to see it.  Can anyone help please?

Camera RAW ≠ Camera driver, the RAW update is for the .CR2 canon raw image file (in your case) compatibility.
What happens when you try to import photos using Image Capture or iPhoto?
Can you take a screenshot of the error message?
I always prefer and recommend using memory card import over using the camera.
