Camera Raw 8.6 - Quick, Painless Installer

A fairly sizeable download, but the installer ran right out of the .zip file and for me (on Win 8.1) finished successfully in just a couple of seconds.  Nice!

Worked fine on my Mac (CS6 13.0.6) too.

  • After Downloading and Installing any version of Camera Raw after 8.3 the installation completes but 8.3 remains, how can I resolve this?

I am using Windows 7 Home Premium, with Adobe Design and Web Premium CS6.. I previously had this same problem installing Camera Raw 8.3  and as a work around back then, Adobe Support manually edited the Registry of my Windows 7 laptop to enable Photoshop CS6 and Bridge CS6 to recognise the Adobe Camera Raw 8.3 software so I could edit my files from my then new Nikon D610 camera...  Now when I receive and install any updates for Camera Raw the installation says it was successful but the old 8.3 version of Adobe Camera Raw remains when launched via Bridge or Photoshop..  which means I am unable to edit any files with the New Nikon D750 , or even the D810, can someone please help me solve this issue once and for good.. Thanks, please?!

Download the latest version: Parallels Desktop 8.0.18483. Uninstall the one you have then install the new version. The uninstaller will either be in your Applications folder or on the disk image for the version you now have installed.

  • Camera Raw Apparently Missing On Second Installation Of Elements 10

I have installed Elements 10 onto my desktop which works fine. When opening a .NEF file or when opening a JPEG using 'Open As Raw', the Camera Raw interface comes up.
I have also installed Elements 10 onto my netbook. Whilst the prgram itself works fine, the Camera Raw interface doesn't appear to come up when loading .NEF files or opening JPEGS as 'Open As Camera Raw'. I have downloaded and installed the latest Camera Raw from the Adobe website.
Can anyone supply any reasons for this and how I solve the problem?
    Many thanks.

It is fequently updated to accomodate newer camera models to it'll be a good idea to update it as well.

  • PSE 8 not  opening CR2 after 6.2 camera raw update

    I'm Running a MAC OSX 10.6.2 -
    History of products.
    PSE8  with CR 5.7 worked.
    Lightroom 2.7 worked
Updated PSE 8 CR to 6.1 and PSE stopped opening with disk error message.
Lightroom still worked and Bridge was opening files.
    Upgraded Lightroom to vs 3.
Upgraded CR 6.2 and lightroom works while PSE and Bridge fails to open raw images with message of
"can not complete your request due to a disk error."
Preview application opens and displays the raw images.
    How I installed -
I removed cameraraw plugin from  /PSE8 /file format/   folder. Installed the 6.2 Package from the DMG file and copied the plugin to the file format folder.
Restarted PSE - failed to open ,, restarted the machine the same.

Put the new version of the Camera Raw.8bi file that was downloaded into the same location as the original version.
Navigate to the root of the local disk (not your home folder).
Navigate to the following location: Applications/PSE8/Plug-Ins/File Formats.
Move the original plug-in from the location listed in step 5 to a backup location (for example, a new folder on your desktop). Ensure that you keep this version in case you want to revert.
Copy the downloaded copy of the Camera Raw plug-in into the installation location listed under step 6.
Launch Photoshop Elements 8 or Adobe Bridge CS5.
To install Camera Profiles, double-click CameraProfiles.mpkg and then follow the on-screen instructions

  • Camera Raw in Bridge

decided to add descriptions and keywords to my canon raw images in Bridge. No problems so far. Now I want to look at the same images from another installation. I see the images, but no descriptions and keywords.
I have tried to copy the Camera Raw cache to the other installation, but this didn't help. I also tried to copy the Bridge cache, with no success.
Both installations are up to date

Sidecar xmp files will be created if you have that option selected in Camera Raw preferences. With this ACR option, bridge-entered meta data will go into sidecar xmp file even if raw files have never been opened in acr (Bridge will create an xmp file if one does not already exist).
Without acr xmp sidecar files option, have you tried in Bridge: Tools > Cache > Build and Export Cache? Or set Bridge Preferences > Cache > Automatically Export Cache to Folders When Possible.
And creating dng files should work too, albeit with the extra operation to create them. View the dng files at the alternate site instead of the raw files.

  • Camera Raw is not working due to computer crashing

I Need some help in figuring out why and how to fix this problem…. My computer crashed and I had it repaired it is the same computer that I initially installed Photoshop Cs6 onto… The photoshop part work just fine, when I try to use the Camera Raw for a Quick Edit. It Tells me That a qualifying product has to be launched at least once to enable this feature… This is very frustrating esp. when you pay so MUCH $$$$$$$ for this product. I do have a license for this… I wish their was a phone number so you actually could talk to someone. But I hope there is someone to help with this issue… Thanks

When your computer crashed and needed to be repaired, I assume something was messed up with Camera Raw and/or Photoshop. I would recommend doing a clean uninstall and then re-installing Photoshop completely. Any PSD you have on your computer will not be affected, but some preferences may be reset to factory defaults.

  • Where do I install the Camera Raw plug in for Mac?

I'm not sure my question relates to Elements, but here goes:
I recently installed CS4 for Mac and have Elements as well.  When opening Adobe Acrobat I keep getting a message from Adobe that it has an update for Camera Raw and I choose to install it.  However, I invariably get a message that Camera Raw cannot be found on my computer.  Should it have been part of the CS4 installation I made, part of Elements, and now somehow it's not there?  I have downloaded the 4.6 Camera Raw update and have the plug in on my desktop, but I'm not sure where I should install it? Whether I should or should not install it? Whether there's a Camera Raw application that missed the installation process?
As you see, I'm pretty much in the dark as to this Camera Raw deal.  Any tips from someone out there?

Elements can never, never update ACR automatically the way bridge and PS CS can. You need to download and install the plug-in manually and you need to be sure you have the correct version for PSE. You can find it here:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=40&platform=Macintosh
You don't say which version of PSE you have, but most versions can use a newer plug-in than the list states ( you can use the latest version in PSE 6, for example).
If you have PSE 6 or 8, bridge will autoupdate the plug-in if you go to Help>Updates.

  • Updating Camera Raw for Elements 8 on Mac

    Hello everyone,
I'm having a serious issue when I tried to update the Camera Raw plugin for Elements 8 on Mac. I downloaded the proper update (ElementsCameraRaw-6.3-mul-AdobeUpdate.dmg, the one specified for Elements 8). Inside I found an application (AdobePatchInstaller) but when I run it, it says it needs Adobe Application Manager. I downloaded Adobe Application Manager 1.5 for Mac and installed it, but when I tried again to install the Camera Raw update it said the update is not applicable. I think maybe the Application Manager version isn't good (it says CS5, but I didn't find one for Elements).
    Could anyone help ... ?
    Thanks in advance

  • Lightroom Camera Raw Plug-in won't work with Panasonic RW2

I've just upgraded to Lightroom 5.7 (from 4) essentially to access the RW2 RAW files from my new Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS50 (DMC-TZ70) as this camera is supposed to be supported by the camera raw plug-in (link).
Basically I got fed up of messing with the DNG converter and wanted inbuilt support for these files.
However having installed 5, upgraded to 5.7 (& rebooted) it still won’t read these RW2 files - the import tells me that the RW2 format is not supported.
According to the About info I've got Lightroom 5.7 and Camera Raw 8.7, installed. However I have download the camera raw plug-in 8.8 installer (link), copied it to the Lightroom directory and run it, but it's still saying Camera Raw 8.7 in the About screen and I still can’t access these files.
    What am I doing wrong?

The link you posted had all the details to indicate that your camera is not currently supported by any release of Lightroom. It is only currently supported by Camera Raw version 8.8 which is a plug-in that cannot be used by Lightroom (and only by Photoshop). Adobe's free DNG Converter can be used to convert your RW2 files to DNG which is supported by any Lightroom release. Download it here:
    Win: Adobe DNG Converter
    Mac: Adobe DNG Converter

    Hallo Zusammen!
Win 7 64bit auf starkem Rechner. Wegen Canon 5D MK3 update von Camera Raw nötig.
Bei Installation von Camera Raw 7.1 (AdobePatchInstaller.exe) erscheint folgende Meldung:
    Update fehlgeschlagen
Dann kommt

    http://forums.adobe.com/message/5359318
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS6\File Formats kopiere.
Das hat aber nicht funktioniert. Es kommt immernoch, dass PS dieses Dateiformat nicht kennt....

  • After installation of latest Bridge and Photoshop version (2014.2.2) *.CR2 files will not be displayed correctly, neither in preview nor in Camera Raw dialog.

After installation of latest Bridge and Photoshop version (2014.2.2) *.CR2 files will not be displayed correctly anymore, neither in preview nor in Camera Raw dialogue.
Some pictures have white squares with blue and red diagonal stripes that cover almost the complete picture.
When opening those files I have the same problem in Camera Raw dailogue and even in Photoshop eventually.
I tried to open the same same pictures on another computer with the same version of Bridge and Photoshop but the problem remains the same.
It seems like the files itselves are still ok, because if you open an explorer window the previews of the pictures are all ok. And the pictures' sizes remain the same.
I tried to clear the cache in both programs but it didn't help.
    Has anyone an idea????

First see if a reboot of your PC helps.  If not,
    Resets may be in order:
Photoshop: Press and hold Control - Shift - Alt immediately upon cold-starting Photoshop.  If you get the keys down quickly enough - and you have to be VERY quick - it will prompt you to confirm deletion of your established preferences, which will lead to them all being set to defaults.
Bridge:  Start Adobe Bridge and immediately press Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS) until the Reset Settings dialog box appears. Select all three options--Reset Preferences, Reset Standard Workspaces, and Purge Entire Thumbnail Cache--and then click OK.
Outdated graphics drivers can also cause display problems. Go to your GPU maker's website and be sure you have the latest drivers for your card model.

You need to buy PSE13. But you can continue with PSE9 if you download and install the free DNG converter to convert your CR2 files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the DNG files will work with yoir existing software(keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Windows download (.exe file) click here DNG Converter 8.8
Mac download (.dmg file) click here DNG Converter 8.8
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • Camera Raw 6.7 Update for Mac OS 10.10:  Installation Failed error message.

Camera Raw 6.7 Update for Mac:  Installation Failed error message.  Update downloaded directly from Adobe website.  Newly purchased Mac Workbook Pro, OS 10.10, using Photoshop CS5. Other updates successfully accomplished.  Camera Raw 6.7 Update was downloaded multiple times with multiple installation attempts. Any recommendations?

thanks for the prompt response...i appreciate it.  according to the link you listed, that's correct.  the strange thing is that prior to the upgrad to mac os 10.8.4, photoshop CS5 was working just fine and i was able to open my canon raw files with my current camera raw plug-in version 6.7 which adobe has indicated is the last camera raw update they'll be offering for cs 5
so it's clearly an issue related to the "upgrade" of the os.  seems like every solution creates 6 new problems...further evidence for the notion that if it ain't broke don't fix it!  thanks again.
