Camera RAW and DNG version 8.2

I have a Canon 70D.  How do I find out what version of camera raw and dng  that I have installed?

Unfortunately, photoshop elements 11 can only use up to camera raw 7.4 for the camera raw plugin.
(in the photoshop elements 11 editor; Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor>About Plug-In and click on the words Camera Raw to find the version you have)
(Help>Updates in the pse 11 editor to check for updates)
You can use the DNG converter 8.6 to convert your canon 70d files to dng copies, which pse 11 should then open.
If you have mac os x 10.6.8 snow leopard then you would need to use dng converter 8.3
dng converter 8.6:
Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh : Adobe DNG Converter 8.6
dng converter 8.3:
Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh : Adobe DNG Converter 8.3
How to use the dng converter:
Camera Raw: How to use Adobe DNG Converter - YouTube
You could also upgrade to photoshop elements 12 or look at adobe lightroom 5.6 to avoid using the dng converter

    What can I do ?

    Hi Yammer.
First thanks a lot for taking your time to help me. I am really happy about it!
    I will try to answer:
    1)
I meant by having the Camera Raw.8bi placed in BOTH "C:\Programmer\Adobe\Adobe Bridge CS5\Plug-Ins" and in C:\Programmer\Fælles filer\Adobe Plug-Ins\CS5\File Formats" the ACR will be found in two versions - or rather in two places (I know the former shouldn't be, but it solved my preview problem).
    2)
YES - I do have tried twice starting the Adobe Bridge holding down the Ctrl-key and ticking the two (the third was greyed out but ticked anyway) and with no help.
    3)
I have tried to do the *.8bi search you suggested, and this gives me the following dump - absolutely with a few more entries than yours. Some are like doubled.
Do you think I can just delete these?
    Kind regards, Jan

Hmmm... I got the DNG Converter and ACR from the page I listed.
If you go to the DNG page at http://www.adobe.com/products/dng/ and click on Downloads (in the light gray box on the upper right) for Mac or Windows (I'll use the Windows example here because I'm on a PC right now, but it also worked from my Mac) you will go to http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3894 and then you have to click on Proceed to download and it should say filename DNG_Camera)Raw_4_4.zip and be 5.4 meg in size (If you follow the Macintosh link the filename is DNG_Camera_Raw_4_4.dmg and is 12.5MB).
However, if you go to the Camera Raw page at http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/cameraraw.html and click on the download links under the main gray box you will only get the Camera Raw file (filename is Camera_Raw_4_4.zip at 3.3MB or Camera_Raw_4_4.DMG at 7.8MB).
Both download places list the Product name as Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter. But the filenames are different and indicate which one you are downloading.

  • Adobe Camera Raw and Elements version 12?

I have Photoshop Elements version 12 that presently has Adobe Camera Raw version 8.5 with it. Can I update to a newer ACR version? If so which one? I'm getting a new camera lens and I see that version 8.5 doesn't support it but 8.6 and newer does.  Thanks for the help - I don't want to "blow up" my Elements software by installing something that's not compatible.

Thanks to Yammer P. for providing the download links.  Assuming these are what you need, are you saying Adobe support didn't even provide these?
Adobe, are you listening to this?  Do you really think contracting your support out to India is working if the support personnel can't even provide basic links to your own software update web pages?

Would this also be the case for the DNG converter? (just curious because I had been evaluating E-3 ORFs with DNGC 4.3 and ACR v3.7)

  • Camera Raw and DNG Converter for PSE10 and PS CS5.5

I recently bought a Nikon D5200.  I have Photoshop CS5.5 at home and PS Elements 10 at work.  I had to download a DNG coverter in order to open my RAW files (NEF).  I have 2 questions: 1) Which are the latest updates that will work with each of these programs (the listings on the Adobe Download pages are confusing) and 2) Do any of these updates allow a new NEF file to be opened directly without the extra step of DNG conversion?  Bit of a pain.

Latest DNG converter can be downloaded from following link:

  • How do I have elements 9 sequence the camera raw and jpg versions of a  photo together?

I shoot with a Canon using both camara raw (cr2) and jpg images of the same photo.  Elements used to sequence those in organizer so that the cr2 and jpg shots were displayed next to each other, which is very convenient for tagging and editing.  Now elements 9 is sequencing an entire day of cr2 followed by the entire day of jpg, which is a giant pain for organizing and editing.  Is there some way to sequence them together?  i.e. vacation 001.cr2 and vacation 001.jpg next to each other in the organizer.

    Hi,
The 700D requires Camera Raw 7.4 or later but that is not compatible with Photoshop Elements 9.
If you don't want to upgrade PSE, you need to use the DNG converter. You have to copy your CR2 files to a folder and then use the DNG converter to convert the files (CR2 to DNG), preferably into a new folder. Then you can import the DNG files into your PSE 9.
The DNG converter is a standalone application and does not integrate into PSE.

    Aha, mystery solved!
Camera Raw 4.4 incorrectly modified the EXIF time date field of images that were saved as TIFF or JPEG files from the Camera Raw dialog. This has been corrected in Camera Raw 4.4.1
This explains why I never saw that bug: I save images from ACR as PSDs, never as TIFFs or much less JPEGs.
I guess PSD files were not affected.

If I'm in LIghtroom 5, and try to Edit in Photoshop CS6, I always get the following message: "This version of Lightroom may require the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in version 8.6 for full compatibility." But I have updated to 8.6 and have no remaining updates. How can I fix this?
If I click "Open Anyway" or "Render using Lightroom", I get the following message:
"Adobe Photoshop CS6 cannot be opened because of a problem.
Check with the developer to make sure Adobe Photoshop CS6 works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and OS X."
Please tell me what to do so I can edit from Lightroom to Photoshop.

In Photoshop, if you choose Help - About Plug-in... - Camera Raw, does it say 8.6?
Seems to me there was some hiccup they found in the update process, which prompted this:
Camera Raw updates cannot be applied
I honestly don't know if the problem could apply to 8.6 as well, which is why I asked you to check to make very sure you really got it.

  • I am unable to open raw files from my Canon T1i in Adobe Camera Raw of my version CS3 of Photoshop.  I have tried to update my ACR by downloading version 4.6 from the Adobe website but I am still unable to open raw files, just JPEG.  Is there a way to use

I am unable to open raw files taken on my Canon Rebel T1i in my version of Photoshop CS3.  When I import raw files into Bridge they come up as patches with CR2 on them and when clicked on, a notice comes up stating that Photoshop does not recognize these files.  I tried to update my Adobe Camera Raw by downloading version 4.6 from the Adobe Website, but when I clicked on the plus-in, I got another message that Photoshop does not recognize this file.  I spoke with a representative from Canon who said that I could not update CS3 and that I should subscribe to the Cloud.  I would prefer to use my CS3, if possible.  Can anyone advise me what to do?

The T1i was first supported by Camera Raw 5.4 which is only compatible with CS4 and later
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
    Some options:
    Upgrade to CS6
    Join the Cloud
Download the free Adobe DNG converter, convert all T1i Raw files to DNGs then edit the DNGs in CS3

  • Camera Raw and CS4

I have downloaded the latest camera raw files. Since I have CS4 I also had to download and install Application Manager, did that.  I am still unable to install the camera raw file, any suggestions on how to do this?

CS4 is only compatible with Camera Raw up to version 5.7.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
To work on Raw files from newer cameras, you'll have to convert them to DNGs using the free DNG converter then edit the DNGs.

  • Camera Profiles and DNG Profile Editor

I saw the lightroom 2.0 eseminar and the presenter mentioned Camera Profiles and the DNG Profile Editor. All I see is ACR4.4 and 4.3. The the FAQ page says I need ACR4.5 and I can't find it and haven't gotten any update notice. Should I just wait for an update or forget it?
    Don

    >I have CS4. Will this overwrite ACR 5.1 in CS4?
If you have CS4, you should update to ACR 5.2. If you install 4.6, you will break your CS4 install. Either just run the Adobe updater app, or go to http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/new.jsp to download it. DNG converter is a separate download. Both camera RAW and NDG converter contain the final release version of the new profiles. DNG profile editor can still be downloaded from Adobe Labs: http://labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/DNG_Profiles. There is also a profiles download there that you don't need if you install DNG converter 5.2.
