Camera Raw can't be found

I keep getting the message that the update 4.5. I double click on the plug in and then it opens PSE and I get the message could not complete this request because PSE does not recognize this type of file. I have PSE 6. Thanks.

You need to install the plug-in, not try to open it in Photoshop Elements. The instructions are on the download page at http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4000
To install with Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0:
1. Exit Photoshop Elements
2. Open My Computer
3. Double-click Local Disk (C:)
4. Navigate to: (Please read directory carefully)
Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 6.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats
5. Move the existing Camera Raw.8bi plug-in to another location (for example, a new folder on your desktop). Ensure you keep this version in case you need to revert back.
6. Copy the Camera Raw plug-in, Camera Raw.8bi, from the download into the same folder as Step 4.
7. Launch Photoshop Elements.
Also, please note that there is a newer version (4.6) available at http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4040.
Instructions for installing are the same.

  • CS4 Camera Raw: Can't open multiple files ???

This is a very strange problem. I recently installed CS4 and started using it with RAW files from a Canon 5D Mark II camera. When selecting File -> Open As ->Camera Raw, I can't seem to select more than one raw file from the file dialog. I can open a single raw file no problem, but no matter what I try, either ctrl-A, holding down shift or ctrl does not allow me to open more than one file. With CS3 this worked fine.
Is there a setting in Preferences to control this (seems very odd even if there is)
PS: I see that there are two Camera Raw selections available in the file types list: what's the difference between them?
    Thanks

If they're raw files then just use File->Open, you only need to go the File->Open As route if you want to open JPEG files in Camera Raw without going through Bridge.
There's no point in listing Camera Raw file formats because every camera produces it's own version anyway, a .CR2 file produced by one camera isn't the same as one produced by another camera which is why the Camera Raw plug-in has to be constantly updated.

  • Camera Raw - Can't Apply Same Value Multiple Images

Camera Raw 8.1 opened from within Photoshop.  Windows 7.
If I open a bunch of .cr2 files into Raw and want (for example) all of the Contrast values to be "25" or the Highlights to be "-90", I cannot seem to get images in the selection range other than the first one or two to mirror the same values.  I shift click / control click for a range and then try either typing in the value (number number then enter) or by scrubbing to the value.  Neither works.  I've tried saving out an .xmp Settings file to import to the selection - same non result.
I even tried Synchronize - I tweak the first, select my range and then hit Synchronize and uncheck everything other than (this example) Contrast and Highlights and hit okay ... still nothing.
This has been like this for a while but now I'm working with a very large batch of images that share very similar lighting values so it's driving me nuts to sit here in 2013 and punch in numbers one at a time.
    Thanks for your suggestions,
    Marc

Two things, you have to be in Grid View, not Filmstrip Selection and not have Menu/Metadata/'Show Metadata for Target Photo Only' checked. I and others have gotten bitten by this, too.

    Hi,
Finally I made an update. I used download files from Adobe update pages (the same websites that were offline for few days), I couldn't do it automatically from PS CS5 application. Last problem is Adobe Extension update, can't do it automatically and manually becouse there are no update files for Adobe Extension CS5 for Windows (only for Mac). Most important is that my Camera Raw can open files from my cameras now. Thank You for your help.

  • CS6 Camera Raw Updated to 8.5....now photoshop saying 'file not found'

So I updated my camera raw for my CR2 files. Now when I try to open my CR2 file it's saying that the 'Camera raw file cannot be found.' I'm extremely confused. I've tried clicking on the Camera Raw plug-in to see what version I have, but it's also giving me that exact error. Help! What did I do wrong?! I've restarted my computer and that has not helped.

    Please give details.
Just how did you update to ACR 8.5?
What do you see under About Plug-in > Camera Raw?
    Have you tried re-installing?
What exact version of Photoshop CS6?  Photoshop 13.point what?  What OS?

  • Camera raw file not found

I have adobe photoshop cs6 on mac os 10.6.8. I recently tried to upgrade my camera raw plugin and now when going to about plugin camera raw it pops a window open saying could not complete camera raw command file not found. Please help for i have no idea whats going on.

Yes that does seem to be my first issue. But now i think I might have to many plug-ins duplicated or downloaded causing it to crash. It is still is giving me the same response. It says "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file,'' when trying to open any cr2 or jpeg. When I click on; about plug-in, camera raw, its says "Could not complete the Camera Raw command because the file was not found," does this mean the file is misplaced or might i have too many duplicate plug-ins in the same location causing confusion. I just don't know where the plug-ins need to be nor where they're located to even fix the issue. Also if it matters my bridge appears to be Bridge CC and its working with Photoshop CS6. So if any one knows of how to resolve this issue of lost camera raw plug-in please fill me in.

  • Camera raw is NOT there in photoshop CS 6 update from CS 5

I have just upgraded from photoshop CS5 to photoshop CS 6 and there is no camera raw plugin in CS 6.  its not there at all.   I can't update it because it isn't there..."could not complete the Camera Raw command because Adobe Camera Raw plugin cannot be found." I have installed the Photoshop CS 6 update 3 times to no avail. Camera raw will not update because there is no plugin to update. I am running Mountain Lion. 10.8.2

Please try below troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:
If you are using Mac operating system try following steps:
Give read and write permissions to Application support folders from both the library's
    Then re-install Photoshop CS 6.
Issue reason, lack of permissions to concern folders from your Library hence Photoshop is not able to access the camera raw or not able to install camera raw successfully.
above provided steps are the only resolution for this issue.
    Regard's
    Vijay.

Thanks, that is interesting and something I had not previously noted.  If I import RAW files to CR direct from a folder, it is still a NEF.  But Aperture changes all NEF's to TIFFs.  OTOH, at least I once again have my CR opening in PS.

  • Where To Install Camera Raw Plugin

The oddest thing happened to me.  I solved it, but I am hoping someone can provide me with an explanation:
    1) I downloaded the lastest Camera Raw Plugin for CS3 and followed the installation instructions given at http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=3893.
    2) I still could not open my .dng files from bridge because I was still getting the message that I did not have the proper Camera Raw Plugin for CS3.
    3) So, I did a search for all of the Camera Raw Plugins on my computer and found one located in Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS3/Plug-Ins.
    4) So, I replaced the Camera Raw Plugin I had found in Applications/Adobe Photoshop CS3/Plug-Ins with the new one that I had downloaded from Adobe and previously placed in Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS3/File Formats as I had been instructed.
    5) It worked, and now I can open my .dng files from Bridge into Photoshop.  Why the discrepancy between what I was instructed to do and what actually seems to work?
    Thank you,
    Robert

Note that is your ROOT LEVEL library, NOT your user library.
That is the ONLY correct location for the Camera Raw plug-in.  You should have no other such Camera Rawplug-in anywhere else in your setup [for CS3].

  • Camera Raw Plugin Missing

I am on Photoshop Extended version 12.1 x 64 on OSX 10.7.2 Lion and when I go into Aboout Plug-Ins, the "Camera Raw..." one is missing from the list. Ontop of that, I am unable to install the Camera Raw installer 6.5. I get the error message "Update Is Not Applicable". How do I fix this? do I just make a folder somwhere in the plug-ins folder? where? how? help!
I'm also unable to edit my camera RAW .CR2 files from my Canon Rebel XS running firmware 1.0.7 (however I know the reason why).
I get the error message "Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file."

I've also now deleted the plug-ins folder found in my Library > Application Support > Adobe folder. uninstalled and then reinstalled photoshop and still nothing in the way of camera raw support. I do see an option for it in the preferences drop down however it says "Could not complete the Camera Raw command because the Adobe Camera Raw plugin cannot be found."
how can I put the plugin in the right place if the updater won't let me, where can I download just the .plugin file?

  • CS 5.5 production premium and Camera RAW

hello i just bought adobe creative suite 5.5 production premium when i opened the box i saw 3 stickers of Serial numbers , one for Color Finesse , PPro/AE CS4 32bit and Production Premium
I put Production Premium SN when the installer lunched and i think Color Finesse for After Effect  .... my Q? is shall i need to input the SN for PPro.... or its okay to leave it ?
and my 2nd Q? about the Camera RAW , where can i find it ???
    thanks a lot

No need to input the extra AE/ PPro serials, if you haven't been installing CS4. Likewise, the ColorFinesse serial is only necessary for the version that came with CS4. Camera RAW can be found in Photoshop, Bridge and After Effects via the respective import/ file open options.

  • DNG and Camera Raw 6.1 on Windows 7/64 bit ?

is DNG and Camra Raw availble for Windows 7/64 bit?
There also seems to  "codec" that will allow raw files to show up in Windows
    as thumbnail images, right?

The Camera Raw 6.1 is available for PSE8/win7(32 or 64 bit). Try downloading from: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4728
The camera raw is responsible to read the RAW file formats from various cameras and generates thumbnails for them. The list of cameras supported can also be found at the same link. Follow the instructions to install it in your system for PSE8 (Win/Mac). You dont have to install some additional codecs to fetch these raw files other than the Camera RAW plug-in file update.
    Regards.

  • RGB Images Into Camera RAW

Is there any way to take a RGB image and be able to use the slider settings found in Camera RAW? I am aware about RGB images usually have a profile attached to them and you can save it out as a Photoshop RAW plus the fact that Camera RAW images are usually come in as 16 bit with no profile included. The reason being is my company is testing out this idea to use Camera RAW into their workflow but we get a lot of RGB JPEGS from different sources (stock houses, etc.) and not straight from a digital photography studio. We mainly work within a magazine environment. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Camera RAW can open Tiffs and Jpegs. Keep in mind that tiffs and Jpegs will not have the latitude that a RAW file has because the information in the file is limited.

  • Camera raw not working in CC

I updated my creative cloud apps last week.  Now when I try to open a raw image (CR2's that work a week ago), photoshop opens then crashes before camera raw can open?  I have also tried to open images from bridge and it does the same thing?
I have uninstalled and reinstalled both photoshop and bridge?  I spent over an hour on the phone with tech support in India and the tech couldn't find the problem?  I am suppose to hear from someone above him in the next few days.  I am so frustrated with Adobes lack of support for their product!

OMFG! I have spent hours trying to figure this out also.
Adobe thought it was a permissions issue.
    Thanks for the post.

  • Bridge CS5 will not open camera raw - but hangs!!

Just installed CS 5 web premium upgrade from CS4 web P - but Bridge CS5 will not open camera raw - it hangs!! - but camera raw can open via Photoshop ext. 64 bit on my Windows 7 pc.
    Whats wrong???

In that case I would try resetting Bridge preferences by holding down Ctrl as you start Bridge.
Before that, ensure that there isn't a hidden copy of Bridge running under Task Manager > Processes.
