Camera Raw doesn show image

I just updated to the latest version of Adobe Photoshop CC and the version 9 camera raw will not show the image.  I am processing a raw file from an Olympus EM-1.  There is a big X through the preview pane.
I have some images that already have been adjusted and the images process property, I just can't see them
What am I doing wrong?

Presumably a hardware acceleration issue. Update your graphics driver.

The D610 didn't get out-of-the-box RAW support until Photoshop CC.
You can either upgrade to CC or use the DNG Converter to convert and open your DNGs in CS5.

  • Please help me , my camera raw doesn't open on photoshop or bridge

my camera raw doesn't open on photoshop cs6 or adobe bridge :S and i don't know what is the reason , when i try to open any of my raw photos i get this message
so what should i do ? please any one help me here
    thanks

You’ll need a connection to the internet, and probably have a registered version to do updates.  Sometimes it takes a few minutes for PSE to talk to the Adobe servers and see that you’re needing updates.  If you are connected to the internet, then perhaps your computer has a firewall or internet security that needs temporarily disabled.  So try some things like that.
You can also try downloading and running the updaters for ACR 8. CS6 from this Adobe blog page:

  • Why do Camera Raw mods show in Bridge CS6 on one machine but not the other?

Bridge CS6 and Photoshop CS6 are activated on our two MacBooks.  Before adding the second activation, image modifications performed in Camera Raw (8.4.0.199) would show in Bridge on our MacBook Pro.  Since then, they don't show on our MacBook Pro but do show on our MacBook Air.  On both machines, when we launch an image from Bridge, the modifications show in the Camera Raw window.  Is there a setting that we have inadvertenty modified on the MacBook Pro, that controls whether Bridge displays Camera Raw modifications?
Interesting related factoid: the "Camera Raw Preferences" item in the "Abobe Bridge CS6" menu does nothing on our MacBook Pro but works normally on our MacBook Air.  It's like Bridge doesn't know that Camera Raw is around (?)

This file fixed my problem: Camera Raw.plugin.zip
It was a flaw un the latest Camera Raw updare, as described in the thread

  • Using Bridge to Camera Raw to Open Image button also drop shadow problems

I remember when I was working with RAW in PSE 8. I would be in Bridge looking at a pic and double click on it. PSE 8 would open in Camera RAW and I could play with the pic a bit, make some adjustments, then click on OPEN IMAGE. When I did that it would open in PSE and it would be in jpg format. With this PSE 9 and the updated Camera RAW 6.3, when I punch OPEN IMAGE I still have a picture labeled .CR2 which I think still means RAW. When I double click in Bridge the .CR2 pic shows as 8 bit depth. I can do a little more work on it and use SAVE AS. When I do that, the sample file name that shows is still in .CR2 format and I must change that to .jpg and then below change from PHOTOSHOP to JPEG to save my file as a jpg file. Is there something that I have to change in preferences to get it to open the image in jpg format when I hit the OPEN IMAGE button? Or, is this an "improvement" with RAW 6.3? Also, I seem to be having trouble adding a drop shadow (or any other effects) on jpeg pics. At least it doesn't show up on the screen after I apply it. I just recently updated to Camera RAW 6.3 and updated my Operating system on my iMac computer to OS 10.6.6. I emailed this request to my good friend with an identical setup on his iMac and he is having the same response when performing the above operations. Any ideas what the problem might be?

Okay, previously you seem to have been using the bridge version of camera raw to edit your raw photos. That has many more options than the PSE version of the raw converter. (If you still have PSE 8, you can see the difference by using File>Open in the editor to open a raw photo for the PSE version of ACR, which works the same way in PSE 9.) In PSE's raw converter, you use the Open button, then save your photo in an image format in the editor. The Save button in ACR in PSE is only the DNG converter.
Layer styles should work exactly the same way as in PSE 8. However, in any version of PSE a drop shadow, like a real shadow, needs someplace to fall, so unless there is empty space on the layer, it won't appear. Try creating text or drawing and simplifying a shape and adding a drop shadow. Does it appear then?
Also remember that Jpegs won't let you save either layers or transparency when you resave the file.

  • Camera Raw doesn't seem to recognize my Ricoh GR

    I'm running Mac OS 10.9.5, and Photoshop CS6 v13.0.6 x64, with the Camera Raw 8.6.0.254 plug-in.
I just bought a new Ricoh GR camera, and I love it. However, I've been unwilling to process any of its photos so far, because it looks like Camera Raw isn't properly recognizing the .DNG files that my new camera is producing. When I open a .DNG with Camera Raw, the drop-down list of available lens profiles doesn't include any for Ricoh cameras, nor is there an appropriate one in the Pentax menu. When I go to the "Camera Calibration" menu, the only options available for "Camera Profile" are "Adobe Standard" and "Embedded." I'm used to seeing more options than that when Camera Raw properly recognizes my camera, and I found some Photoshop documentation that states that, if only these two options appear, then the file that was opened was something like a .jpg or a .tif, and was not a properly recognized raw file.
Other people seem to be having this same issue, but I haven't seen an answer posted online. What's going on? Should I proceed with processing my photos? If there's some way for Camera Raw to recognize and render my .DNG files properly, I'd really prefer to make that work, before I proceed. Thanks in advance for any help. More details follow, regarding my search for configuration files on my Mac.
When I look in /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/CameraProfiles/Adobe Standard, there is a file called "Pentax Ricoh GR Adobe Standard.dcp".
In /Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/LensProfiles/1.0/Pentax, there is no entry for the Ricoh GR.
I do have folders lying around called /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Camera Raw 4, .../Camera Raw 6, and .../Camera Raw 7, presumably left over from previous installations of Camera Raw, but these are nearly empty and don't seem to contain any camera or lens profile files.
I also found a  /Users/<my username>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CameraRaw/CameraProfiles folder, but it was empty. I tried copying in the .dcp files for Ricoh cameras, but that didn't  appear to change anything.

    hello,
im really not familiar with the real.one anymore but:
go to the options to open up your SD card and play the music
    when opening real.one
on the top left, tap on real.one and it will show you a lot of menu options
navigate to those option menu to open up your music file on your SD card

  • Camera raw doesn't work on my new CS 6 ( offline computer )!

I have two weeks new, original Photoshop CS6 and today my Camera Raw has stopped working. I have a computer offline and it showed me a message to install a new plugin for Camera Raw. How do I get it? I paid about 3000 PLN and my program does not work! What's going on? why so making it difficult for people to live? is that I do not have access to the internet and not install stupid plugins means that I gave money away, and my job is to be in place by your policy? THIS IS NOT OKAY.

I am not sure why you were blocked from using ACR when you were online and didn’t update.  You should be able to just close any updates message and continue on with your work, but I am not predominantly offline to know what happens.
However, there is a Preferences button in the Adobe Application Manager, the thing that starts up when you use PS / Help / Updates… and perhaps automatically if you’ve been offline for an extended period, to indicate which things to check for updates for.  Just uncheck the ones you don’t want to have automatically check for.
It usually takes a few moments for the Updates… menu item to become active in the Help menu after starting up PS, so wait a minute to give it time.  I don’t know what it does if you are offline, though, it may never become active.
If not, then try starting the AAM manually by running the PDApp.exe program on a 64-bit Windows, from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE\PDApp\core\pdapp.exe
This is what I have after installing PS-CC on my computer, so maybe your app name is different since you don't have CC, but at least try running this if the Help / Updates... never becomes active when you're offline.
If Updates… doesn’t become active when you’re offline, then you might want to create a shortcut to this program somewhere to more easily get to it and tweak things as needed.  It’d think you’d want to enable updates when you planned to be online and have time to do them so disabling the PDApp, entirely, probably isn’t a good idea.
Here is what I see when I look at the AAM preferences, where the Camera Raw checkboxes are at the bottom.
I have PSE11, PS-CS6 and PS-CC 14.2 all installed so have multiple camera-raw plug-in update rows, and I think Camera Raw 7 is the one for CS6 even though it is technically ACR 8.x, so you may only have that one:

  • Camera RAW doesn't always open a file multiple times

Ok, here is my general workflow:
after shooting images and loading them onto my local machine, I open a raw file, make adjustments and open into photoshop.
Then I open the same raw file again, make different adjustments, and use that as a 2nd layer with mask.
    My problem:
MOST of the time, it works exactly as I stated above. Sometimes though, it does not open the 2nd time, nothing happens. I have to save the 'layer 1' file as a PSD to open the 'layer 2'.
    What is up with that?

For what it's worth I have seen this going back a loooong time.  I've posted on the subject as well and have never gotten a solid answer.  It just appears as though Photoshop considers it "already open, so no need to open it twice".  I believe an uninitialized variable could be involved, since it's intermittent.
I have found a couple of choices for workarounds or workflow changes...
    1.  You can save the first-opened document opened (e.g., as  a .PSD) somewhere.  Then reopening the raw file will always open a second document.
    2.  You could consider opening the raw file just once, duplicating it as a second layer, then use Camera Raw as a filter.  Obviously that doesn't avail Camera Raw of the raw data, but its usefulness depends on what you're trying to accomplish.

  • Updating CS4 Camera Raw to show Nikon D700 in camera photo controls & ADR

I am trying to get Nikon D700 images using their picture controls and ADR to show in Camera Raw.  I understand later updates do this.  Now I just get the flat Raw data when I open the NEF file --- NEF showing on Bridge shows the picture control colors; NEF in Raw does not.
But download fails repeatedly for the CS4 update 5.7    Message is  "Camera Raw  5.7 updater.dmg  could not be saved because an unknown error occured."   The desktop shows two fines, one the .dmg shown as a disk, the other a blank file named OOELvLnz.pdf.part.  Trying the download again yet another blank file came onto desktop called OkSFJR48.pdf.part   And so on always a different blank file name and same error message on the download.
So first, is 5.7 the correct update?  What else do I have to do to see ADR and incamera photo controls in Camera Raw?  And what other options to download an update?  Thanks for the advice.

you are kind to suggest this but why is there no one at Adobe to just answer my questions?  This is not something for some amateur to give me advice on -- I want the programmers and inventors of the actual program and updates to tell me so I get the right answer in one place.  I have now had four emails from someone at Adobe and none of them even apologize for not answering.
PLease just answer my      questions.  Thank you
    Gary

  • Not All Camera Raw Profiles Showing In Lightroom 2.3?

Just downloaded the update for Lightroom 2.3 and am viewing a camera raw image (CRW file) shot on a Canon Powershot S50. According to what I've been able to ferret out on the Camera Raw / DNG pages, when I have that image selected and look at the Camera Calibration Settings profile options I should be see the original ACR 2.2 and 2.4 profiles plus 2 new profiles, an Adobe Standard profile plus one that mimics the manufacturer's own converter profile that starts with the word "Camera..." and goes on to mention the manufacturer and specific camera. I see only three - ACR 2.2, ACR 2.4, and Adobe Standard. The 4th one the Adobe Labs DNG materials seem to say I should be seeing is missing. Have I misread the documentation or is something wrong with the install? (I have not yet upgraded from Photoshop CS3 to CS4 so the Camera Raw converter over in Photoshop is still version 4.6 if that's relevant.)

There are no camera matching profiles for the S50. From the Powershot series there are only matching profiles for the G9 and G10, so you should indeed only see ACR and Adobe standard profiles.

  • Camera raw doesn't open when opening a raw file in photoshop

I have a mac mini and am using the latest version of lightroom and have an EOS70d. The problem I experience is that when I open a raw file from lightroom it goes directly into photoshop without launching the camera raw plugin and when I manually launch the camera raw plugin from within photoshop, i do not see the details from the metadata in the image, such as colour temperature etc and there is no blue link at the bottom of the screen. I have tried the version of camera raw included in photoshop asnd the latest beta version, it's the same in both and also the same on my windows machine. I have also tried with raw images from my other cameras including ones taken a long time ago and that have previously opened in camera raw and they don't. Please help
    Graham

As I said, read my post "Send me both ses files (no media) via my aatranslator dot com dot au web site".  I made no mention of saving "frozen track SES files without any media".
I understand your frustration but I only made an offer to assist.
Now if you want me to have a look at your ses file to see if I can work out what is going on then send it to me without sending any of the media associated with it.
If not I'm happy either way.
    BTW
The idea of sending 2 ses files is to compare the one which can't find the frozen track with one that has just been saved and apparently includes the frozen track.

  • Skips Camera Raw when opening image from PSE organizer to CS

I have PSE7 from before and recently purchased CS6. I want to keep using PSE as an organizer and edit in CS6. When opening a raw file (CR2) from the organizer to CS using Ctrl-h the image opens directly in CS without opening in Camera Raw first. If I open an image directly in CS it goes through CR first. How do I send the image directly to Camera Raw and then to CS from the organizer? I am running on Windows 7 64 bit. The Camera Raw for PSE7 if 5.6 and 7.3 for CS6. Tried posting under photoshop (http://forums.adobe.com/message/5006582#5006582), where it was suggested I post in the elements forum.

Unfortunately PSE7 can’t be updated to Camera Raw 7 and this is undoubtedly preventing the file from opening in the CS6 raw dialog. Your best bet is to open from CS6 Bridge by double clicking the thumbnail in Bridge. In any case Elements will create an export copy for external editing with Ctrl+H and you will end up with lots of duplicates and sidecar XMP files stacked in version sets in the Organizer. I think for raw files you will find Bridge much easier. If you finally save as PSD, Tiff or jpeg after you finish editing that version will also be visible in Bridge but you could also import it into Elements e.g. if you wish to add it to an album.

  • Camera Raw doesn't recognize raw files of Panasonic's new Lumix FZ100.

I just bought Panasonic's new FZ100 camera only to find out that nothing in my Mac -- be it OSX, iPhoto, Preview or Adobe's Photoshop CS4 -- recognizes the pictures I take in RAW2 format. Does anyone else have this problem and when will Apple come out with a Camera Raw update that makes all its photo apps compatible with newer cameras? I asked Adobe the same question and was told to buy Photoshop CS5 for megabucks since they no longer update Camera Raw in older versions of Photoshop -- which I will not do.

There's typically a 4-5 month lag between the time a camera manufacturer releases a new model and when software vendors (such as Apple in this case) have the ability to view the RAW files.
RAW isn't a standard per se. It's more of a concept -- and every camera has it's own unique RAW format. The camera manufacturer's don't provide a any type of "RAW driver" to the software vendors. Companies like Apple & Adobe have to write their own and this takes a while to write, test, and integrate.
I think the Lumix FZ100 came out in August -- which means it's been 3-4 months by now and probably pretty close to RAW support showing up. You might have to sit tight for another month or maybe two, but probably not any longer than that.

  • Do I need to use camera Raw to process images?

Do I need to use camera raw to process raw images b4 editing with PSE? And if so do I need to download it seperately? I can't find it under help/updates in PSE

What version of PSE and which camera? Normally, if you try to open a raw file into the editor, the camera raw window should pop up automatically.

  • Help, I'm tired of Camera Raw opening all images over 100% view!

How do I change to default setting for Camera Raw so that when I open images, they will only open at 100% and not 130% or 200% or 300%? What is the point of opening all images in Camera Raw over 100%, when I then have to zoom out to 100% for all images opened. This default is beyond stupid. I'm using Bridge CS6 w/Camera Raw 8.7.1 on a PC (ugh).

What are the pixel dimensions of the images?
What are the pixel dimensions of the monitor?
Do you have any special display-scaling enabled?
Are the images being zoomed to fill the ACR panel or are the filled to larger
