Camera Raw download files and usage

Installation and usage of ACR 5.2, for Mac, was completed w/o problem. However, new (to me at least) was the inclusion of what appears as a camera profiles 'package'. Sorry, don't recall the extension. Where should this file reside (on a Mac) for use by ACR?

On Windows, it's C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles.
If you create your own camera profiles, they are stored in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Adobe\CameraRaw, in the CameraProfiles subdirectory. I back up this folder, together with all the other settings subdirectories there, in case everything goes belly-up.

  • Real World Camera Raw download files?

I was able to download only the first of the files for Jeff Schewe's book, and then the website asked me to reenter the login and password again.  I entered the same ones that allowed me to download the first file and now it does not recognize them?  Anyone else have the same problemor an answer?  Perhaps Jeff can help me out here.

    Which edition of the book?
The current RWCRCS4 login is different than the old RWCRCS3 book. As for the CS4 book, I just double checked and the login and password from the book works...try purging your browser cache.

  • Camera Raw .CR2 file download failure from new Canon650D

I have the new model Canon650D and cannot download Camera Raw CR2 files into Photoshop Elements 10. I get a "program error" message on screen. I have tried converting to DNG files but get same error message. I have downloaded latest upgrades for Camera Raw plug-ins in Adobe Application Manager and evidently have the latest 6.7 version available. Is there a later upgrade or do I have to wait until Adobe catch up?

    You have two alternatives:
    (1) Upgrade to PSE 11. (2) Download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software) Try a differnt download (7.3 the latest) if DNG did not work before.
Windows download click here DNG Converter 7.3
Mac download click here DNG Converter 7.3
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • Trouble Downloading Raw photo files and JPEG photo files in CS5

PS CS5 will not download raw photo files and JPEG photo files. The software will not recognize these files coming from a Canon G12 camera. How can I remedy this situation?

It should recognize the jpg files, but witht the G12, you need to update your camera raw. I believe there is a version what will work with CS5 and the G12.

I have Photoshop CS5.1 (bought in 2011). The photoshop Camera Raw plug-in is not recognizing the format of my new Nikon D610. I updated the version of my Camera Raw plug in and am still getting this message when trying to open images in photoshop. Please help.

This link shows that ACR 8.3 supports the Nikon D610 and 6.7.1 was the final version for CS5.
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
So you can upgrade to CS6 and ACR 8.7.1
or using the DNG converter, convert your Nikon raw files to dng format to open in CS5.
Here is the download link: Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh : Adobe DNG Converter 8.7.1
or Windows: Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows : Adobe DNG Converter 8.7.1
And here is a great video tutorial on how to use the converter.

  • Can't open Camera Raw (CR2) files in Photoshop CS3?

I can't seem to open Camera Raw CR2 files in Photoshop CS3, my CameraRaw plug in version says it's 4.6 - any help appreciated.

Have you tried opening up out of Bridge? If that doesn't work you may new need to download a new driver from Canon. All my peripherals are Canon and I am always having to download new drivers everytime I update. Fortunatly they are really easy to find on Canon's site.

  • Camera Raw 6.3 and CS3 compatibility

Hello group, this is my 1st post  -
I'm one of the, perhaps few, users still running Photoshop CS3. So far it's continued to serve me well.
My question is whether Camera Raw 6.3 might be compatible with Photoshop CS3 when it is released. I've downloaded and installed it but couldn't access the RAW files from a neat little Canon S95 I recently picked up.
I'm guessing that in order to use ACR for these (and the newer camera RAW files) I'm going to need to update to CS 5. I downloaded the 6.3 DNG converter as intermediate work-around.
If ACR 6.3 will only be compatible with CS5, it seems a bit of a shame because, (in essence) a newer camera ends up costing that much more.
Thanks for any info or feedback anyone can share.
    John

That actually sounds like progress.  Don't worry, we'll get there.
In Photoshop CS, what version do you see when you choose Help - About Plug-in... and click on Camera Raw?
We're hoping to see Camera Raw 2.4.  If it is not, we may need to find the Camera Raw.8bi file that Photoshop is finding and remove it, then install this update:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=2701
Almost the same exercise as before, but this time using the proper version of Camera Raw for Photoshop CS.

  • Camera Raw 3.7 And DNG 3.7

    Hi.
I use Photoshop Cs2 on my PC using Windows XP.
Yesterday I down loaded Adobe camera raw 3.7 and DNG 3.7.
Now I cannot open my raw files,I get a message saying it is not the right kind of file, also when I convert my raw files to DNG they come into the bridge as icons not thumb nails.
I wondered whether anyone can help me with this problem.
    Many thanks.
    John

    > So I downloaded them all.
    > I removed the unzipped file from the common folder plug-ins and put it in my documents folder on the desk top.
    > I put the camera raw and dng plug-ins into the Adobe bridge plug-ins folder.
Hmmm ... my WinXP CS2 installation behaves differently. An update via the 'Help' menu does everything automatically ... no intermediate zip file, and no quessing where the ACR plug-in goes. That is, there's a specific location for it, and the Bridge plugins folder is
not it. But who am I to argue with ...
    > After that everything worked.
    cheerios :)

  • Camera Raw 5.2 and DNG Converter Available - Note from Adobe

Camera Raw 5.2 and the DNG Converter is now available:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2008/11/camera_raw_52_and_dng_converte.html
Lightroom will be updated to version 2.2 with equivalent camera support in December.

Lightroom, Camera Raw and DNG Product Manager

Well, I managed to locate and download both the ACR 5.2 and the DNG 5.2, but it was a bit of a challenge. I have a couple of comments regarding the DNG installation.
As a sometime OS beta tester, I have developed a habit of keeping C:\ for the operating system only. When a new OS or beta is issued, I just format C: and install the new OS. I try to keep applications off C:. It is hard, though, with all the default installations. It would be nice to have the option to install DNG.exe in my applications partition.
My workflow involves importing NEF's from the memory card to a folder, and at the same time converting those NEF's to DNG's and putting them in a different folder in a different partition. Both these NEF's and DNG's are archived. A copy of the DNG's are used as working images. The virtue of DNG's is that there are no sidecar files to keep track of when exporting images. Unless I really mess up, I never go back to the NEF's again. I guess that I am an "outlier" too. I guess that this is essentially the 5 - A "double DNG-only" workflow, using type 2, the native-DNG-DNG system. This is discussed in detail by Barry Pearson at http://www.barrypearson.co.uk/articles/dng/safety.htm#personal
I do like the camera profiles. I previously have used the Fors script. My Nikon D200 lacked red and the Fors script fixed that. Not surprisingly, different profiles are appropriate for different image types. Is there any way of determining the methodology and reasoning between the different profiles, and what specific problems each one is designed to correct. This might permit better matching profiles to image types, with less trial and error.

  • Camera Raw not found and so it won't install the update

I have PSE 6 and did have camera working - now I can't seem to figure out how to install updates. I don't see the app listed in the directory that is mentioned in the instructions.

The following is from the Adobe Support page. I suggest you print it out so that you can refer to it.
    Quote:
Install Camera Raw 5.4 for Photoshop Elements 6 on Windows
       1. Close Photoshop Elements 6.
       2. Download Camera Raw 5.4 from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4524
       3. Extract the Camera Raw.8bi file from the ZIP file you downloaded. (Extract only the Camera Raw.8bi file that is at the top level of the ZIP file. Do not extract the Camera Raw.8bi file from the Win64 folder that is inside the ZIP file. This folder contains the 64-bit edition of the Camera Raw plug-in, which is compatible only with the 64-bit edition of Photoshop CS4.)
Note: ZIP files are compressed files which contain other files. On Windows Vista, you can extract Camera Raw.8bi by right-clicking on the file you downloaded, choosing Extract All, clicking Extract, and then opening the newly-created Camera_Raw_5_4 folder. On Windows XP, you can extract Camera Raw.8bi by right-clicking on the file that you downloaded, choosing Open With > Compressed (Zipped) Folders, and then dragging Camera Raw.8bi to your Desktop.
       4. Do one of the following:
              * If you use a 32-bit edition of Windows, then move Camera Raw.8bi into \Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 6.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats. If you are prompted to overwrite the existing plug-in file, then click Yes or Overwrite.
              * If you use a 64-bit edition of Windows, then move Camera Raw.8bi into \Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 6.0\Plug-Ins\File Formats. If you are prompted to overwrite the existing plug-in file, then click Yes or Overwrite.
       5. To install Camera Profiles, extract the CameraProfiles.exe file from the ZIP file that you downloaded. Next, double-click on CameraProfiles.exe and then follow the on-screen instructions.
