Camera raw errors

I have a new iMac, running Adobe CS5.  I just bought a Nikon d800.   Photoshop is telling me I need to update my Raw plugin to open images.  When I try to install the latest version camera raw 7.1, I get an error "Updates cold not be applied, this patch is not applicable for you.  Please check for updates from the Help menue in your product to see a of the latest updates  blah blah blah. "  I installed the prior version of camera raw, but that won't help me open the raw files from my Nikon d800, i get a error that I need to update my camera raw.   And round and round it goes.

Camera raw 7.1 update is for the CS6 version not for CS5. You have to update the camera raw with 6.7 update here is the link.

  • Is 5d mark II raw (CR2) file different from CR2 file from 5d? Adobe Camera Raw error on mk II not 5d

I use Photoshop Camera Raw plugin (Adobe) to preprocess color, then finish image preparation in Photoshop.  Never a problem opening CR2 files, usually from my own 5d camera.  But a customer sent a few CR2 files that won't open (error says it is wrong kind of document).  So far no explanation or fixes from Photoshop users... thought I would ask the Canon experts.  Why would CR2 file from 5d mk II fail but CR2 files from 5d all open ok?
Still using Photoshop CS2, and the Camera Raw plugin is v 3.7.  I really want to continue this workflow (works for me), prefer not to experiment with dpp or other possibilities.  Not ready to upgrade yet to Photoshop CS6.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I have a photographer friend who has used Photoshop for years and basically never used anything else.  He bought his 5D III from a store which was offering a free copy of Lightroom with the purchase.  He didn't buy because of the incentive... he bought his camera and a copy of Lightroom came with it.  He put it on the shelf to collect dust.
One day we're out shooting and somehow get onto the topic of how he's processing his images and I mention Lightroom to him (I use Aperture, but that's for Mac users only -- he's on a PC).  He tells me has it... it's on the shelf... he never installed it.
I gave him my "are you crazy" look and then proceeded to tell him why he needs to learn to use Lightroom.  He now pretty much just uses Lightroom and is much happier for it.
I'll sum up (again... I'm an Aperture user but Lightroom was designed to fend off Apple from taking over in photography.)
Photoshop is NOT made for photographers.  It's made for people working in graphics arts and publishing, etc.
Apple, recognizing that the tool was awkward for photography made a tool targeted specifically at professional photographers...and Aperture was born.  Adobe, seeing this as the very real threat that it is, realized they'd better get busy.  Adobe produced Lightroom.  Both are targeted to photographers and NOT to those in graphics arts or publishing.
I think of Aperture and LIghtroom as being outstanding at image management for large collections of photos and also outstanding when you come back to your office with cards loaded with images that now all need to be processed.
This is a painful long and tedius task of opening things image by image in Photoshop.... but a breeze to do in Aperture or Lightroom.  You don't actually open images... you import the entire contents of the card into your library and now you can breeze through them apply adjustments as needed.  Some types of global adjustments such as "white balance" can be applied to every image in the shoot as long as it was taken in the same lighting.  No need to do that image by image... you adjust one, then select all the other images shot in the same light and tell it to apply the same adjustments.  Don't try that in Photoshop... you'll injure yourself.
Lastly... Photoshop is a "destructive" editior.  You can take precautions to try to make sure you don't actually edit any original data, but the tool WILL let you change original data if you aren't careful.  Aperture and Lightroom are non-destructive by their very nature.
I find that with Aperture or Lightroom that I still do need to open an image in Photoshop.  Aperture and Lightroom can't do everything.  They do not, for example, allow you to create composit images by combining elements of multiple other images.  But I will say it's not often that I need to open something in Photoshop anymore.
If you are a photographer and you've been using Photoshop because that's what you know... you _really_ need to evaluate one of the tools which were actually intended for use by photographers.

  • Camera raw error in photoshop elements 11

I have PE11 with a Canon EOS Rebel T5 camera.
When I try to open the raw image (CR2) in photo editor it get an error:
"cannot open file because it appears to be from a camera model that is not supported
by the installed version of camera raw"
    I have CR version 7.4.0.137
On the Adobe site, I looked up the Camera Raw version I needed.
The download I got was the Adobe DNG converter
I can't figure out how to make Photoshop use it.
Do I have to open and covert thru the DNG then open with Elements?
I'm trying to open my raw images and save in jpeg, but this seems like a multistep process that I shouldn't have to do.

The dng converter is a separate application from photoshop elements and converts the files to dng copies, which then pse 11 is able to open.

  • CAMERA RAW ERROR

Sorry, I'm to the point of becoming crazy, I have a technical emergency, I am working with the trial version of cs6, usually using the bridge, editing camera raw, but oh god  after a while time  editig raw, some funtions were lock and desativated. I closed the program, then opening  again and still ebing the same, i unistall photoshop then i reinstall and nothings happens,  I can not apply filters or concealer brush and I get a message
"ERROR" Failed to create the local setting, all settings are configured not to affect the image.  what do I do? Help me please

Don't despair, that's just a matter of your having to move one or more of the adjustment sliders off the center-scale settings before applying the brush.
It's trying to tell you, with that error message, that you have not requested any adjustments, so applying the adjustment brush would be meaningless.

  • Camera Raw error message

I have Photoshop CS5, Macbook Pro, Canon Camera T4i, and Camera Raw 6.7.  My Bridge/Photoshop will not open a RAW file. I receive an error message stating I need to download the latest Camera Raw update which I already have.  Any suggestions other than purchasing Photoshop CS6?

The T4i was first supported by Camera Raw 7.1
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
which is only compatible with CS6 and higher
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
Your options are to upgrade to CS6, or join the Cloud or stay with CS5 and convert all the T4i Raw files to DNGs using the free DNG converter
    http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop/extend.displayTab2.html
Then open and edit the DNG files in CS5.
If you own Photoshop CS5 standalone then you are eligible to sign up for the Photoshop Photography Program (and get PS CC and LR5 and other extras) for $9.99/month

  • CS 5.1 -64 Photoshop [Camera RAW] *.CR2 raw import error

    Hi folks.
When try to open a RAW file into Photoshop (Camera RAW), error message occur:
"Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model witch is not supported by the installed version of Camera RAW".
This photo was shot by a Canon S-100 camera witch of course are listed up as supported file format, in help site for Camera RAW. So, what to do here?
I'm for sure, the latest Photoshop CS 5.1 (From master collection) are installed (seperate install).
Any tip, received with great thanks!

What OS are you using? Camera Raw support for that camera was added in ACR 6.6. The latest version of ACR supported by CS5 is 6.7.1.

  • Camera Raw 6.7 Update for Mac OS 10.10:  Installation Failed error message.

Camera Raw 6.7 Update for Mac:  Installation Failed error message.  Update downloaded directly from Adobe website.  Newly purchased Mac Workbook Pro, OS 10.10, using Photoshop CS5. Other updates successfully accomplished.  Camera Raw 6.7 Update was downloaded multiple times with multiple installation attempts. Any recommendations?

thanks for the prompt response...i appreciate it.  according to the link you listed, that's correct.  the strange thing is that prior to the upgrad to mac os 10.8.4, photoshop CS5 was working just fine and i was able to open my canon raw files with my current camera raw plug-in version 6.7 which adobe has indicated is the last camera raw update they'll be offering for cs 5
so it's clearly an issue related to the "upgrade" of the os.  seems like every solution creates 6 new problems...further evidence for the notion that if it ain't broke don't fix it!  thanks again.

When I tried to update DPS Desktop Tools CS6 32.0.0 and Photoshop Camera Raw 8.7.1 (CS6) in Adobe Photoshop I get the following errors in the error log:

I purchased Adobe Creative Suite with my Mac so I have an installed version.  I have tried rebooting, but to no avail.  When I search for help on the site, none of the help explanations fit (e.g., delete a folder that doesn't exist on my computer).  I have a 27 inch iMac running OS X Yosemite version 10.10.1.  Thanks.

Sscrase what specific error messages did you receive within the installation log files for the update?  You can find details on how to locate and interpret the installation log files at Troubleshoot install issues with log files | CC - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cc.html.

  • Error U44M2P24 when trying to install Camera Raw 6.7

I'm trying to install Camera Raw 6.7 in OS X Lion 10.7.3 and keep getting error message U44M2P24 stating that the installation failed. I've tried re-downloading the installer and trying again after a restart, but it still doesn't work.

Have you tried to download and install directly from Adobe, instead of using the Updater in PS?

  • Could not complete the camera raw command because of disk error

    Hi,
First off, I am using a Mac (OS X ver. 10.9.2) and Adobe Creative Cloud Photoshop (2014). I just downloaded the preset pack off VSCO for Adobe Camera RAW and I am having trouble getting it to work.
When I try to launch the "Camera Raw Filter", I get the message 'Could not complete the Camera Raw Filter command because of a disk error.' (this also happens sometimes when i try to import the RAW files into photoshop...I don't know if it's the way i'm importing them or what...?)
I've tried uninstalling and re-installing photoshop cc several times and restarting my computer and have searched online but cannot find anything at all to help me (or i just don't understand, urgh).
    Please help!

I'm getting same error and I think it's related to Adobe Camera Raw.  I see several manifestations of this problem:
    1) Open a RAW file (.NEF) directly using Photoshop CC 2014 - I get an error "Could not complete your request because of a disk error."
    2) In Photoshop CC 2014.  I go to Filter > Camera Raw Filter - I get an error "Could not complete the Camera Raw Filter command because of a disk error."
I can do the following successfully:
    1) Open and edit a RAW file successfully in Lightroom 5.7
    2) Open a RAW file successfully in Photoshop from Lightroom 5.7 (when I do an "Edit in Photoshop CC 2014" from Lightroom 5.7)
I was previously on LR3 and Photoshop CS5 on Mac OSX 10.6.8 (Snow Leopard) and bought an upgraded MacBook Pro last week.
    My upgraded system is now:
    Mac OSX 10.10.1 (Yosemite)
    Photoshop CC 2014
    Lightroom 5.7
I've uninstalled / reinstalled Photoshop and Lightroom numerous times and the problem still occurs.
Anyone else having the same problem?

  • Camera Raw 8.6 launch error in Photoshop 2014.2

Hi. After updating Photoshop to version 2014.2 I have a problem with launching Camera Raw plugin. When I try to open raw file there is said:
could not complete your request because of a disk error
Camera Raw doesn't launch not from Photoshop, nor from Bridge.
    Photoshop 2014.2
    Camera Raw 8.6.0.254
    Windows 8.1
    How can I fix it?
And also there's another problem with Adobe Bridge, no way to open JPEG files in Photoshop by default. Before updating to PS2014 - it was always possible to choose program to open any kind of file from Bridge. Now there's only Open button (no Open with) [right click menu], and by default it opens files in Windows picture viewer, not in Photoshop as before. So now to open JPEG in PS I have to drag file from Bridge to Photoshop window. Not really comfortable. Is that a problem of settings? (i haven't found way to fix it in settings), or a program bug?
    Thanks.

…well, but why this problem has appeared just after the new updating (to 2014.2) ?…
Because that's when the freaking error in your freaking system surfaced and corrupted your OS install in your freaking main account!
That's exactly what I predicted and told you, problems with your OS, i.e. the main account.
Geeze…  some people just come to here to argue rather than to hear what their problem may be.
I can guarantee you that you will have OS issues again until you repair your disk and/or your OS.  If your HD is over two years old, it's time to replace it, given its symptoms.
I'm out of here, as I'm not the one with the problems.
Remember, you are not addressing Adobe here in the user forums.  You are requesting help from volunteers users just like you who give their time free of charge. No one has any obligation to answer your questions.
A simple thank you or your benevolent silence would have sufficed.

  • I just found an error in the file name for my Camera Raw Cache file.  How do I correct it?

I just found an error in the file name for my camera raw cache file.  The error is in my username.  I don't know how to correct the error or if I should just leave it.  I'm not sure where my cache file is stored on my computer.  Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you

Since you are on a Mac if when you first set up your account you left out the i in Wilson nothing you do will change that. The REAL account name will always be alicewlson. Once an account is created you can't actually change the name of it. You can change the name that is displayed but not the REAL account name.
Simplest thing to do is stop worrying about it. Everything is as it should be, that is except Wilson being spelled without the i.

When I searched finder for "alicewlson" I found a long list of files like this:
    2014-07-22 12.50/File005.nef[15:16:35.212] (debug) src/ImageLoader.cpp:363: File: /Users/alicewlson/Recovered/2014-07-22 12.50/File002.nef[15:18:02.173] (debug) src/StoreXMLFile.cpp:21: /Users/alicewlson//.rpro/rpro.cfg
I believe I made the error in my user name when I first got my computer a year ago. I then corrected it under my user name but not in my Lightroom files. I also looked for files with a .lrdata extension and didn't find any.
