Camera RAW, file not recognized after import and migration, Aperture 2.1

Hi,
I have recently purchased a 1DMKIII and am constantly getting "file not recognized" after I import and even after migrating RAW files. My 1DS MK1 RAW files have no issues. The RAW files render just fine using CS4 bridge. Any ideas here on a fix? Other than ditching Aperture (not desireable)
Thanks,
Greg

Hummmm..I have just 'manned-up' from a 2gb macbook running tiger+CS4 to a iMac 24" 8gb running leopard BUT!
I shoot RAW and the iMac will not recognize the NEF RAW files! this is soo frustrating - tried to update Camera Raw but to no avail.
please help! I've got 987 raw wedding photos to process!!
I dont know what to do!

New Nikon Df camera RAW files not recognized in Bridge and Photoshop.  Is there a fix?  Surely Adobe make a mistake and not keep up with Nikon.

I looked at the current list http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html and did not see the Nikon DF listed.
Would post in ACR forum and see if they know anything more.  http://forums.adobe.com/community/cameraraw

  • Message states that Camera Raw is not enabled after transferring data to a new MacbookPro

    Using photoshop and Bridge CS6.
When I attempt to open a photo in Camera raw I receive this message Camera Raw is not enabled.
"Camera raw requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature.

  • Camera Raw files not opening.  I've updated the latest plug-in.  I've uninstalled & re-installed photoshop.  Could I have removed a necessary file when cleaning up programs?

I've installed bridge and they don't open in that.  I cleaned up my programs and removed a bunch of unnecessary junk, could I have removed something I needed?  The camera raw files are CR2 from a Canon D6.
I've spent far too much time trying to figure this out, so any suggestions are much appreciated.
    Thanks!

Thanks, Barbara, that did the trick!  I deleted the old file rather than renaming it.  I was in fact trying to install 5.6.

  • Camera Raw Files Not in Results

Spotlight seems to ignore my Canon EOS 1DMKII Raw files in it's search results. Are camera raw files supported in Spotlight?
    Thanks,
    Scott

My Canon will shoot raw, though I don't use that format much. The extension is .CRW and doing a Spotlight search on the extension returned 115 items, most were classified as images (there were 105 of them, which sounds about right), plus a handful of documents and pdfs. So it looks like it can find them by file name and recognizes them as image files.

  • After Effects CS6: Canon .CR2 RAW files not recognized as acceptable files for import?

    HI Folks,
I'm trying to import as I've seen on tutorials, my RAW files from my Canon 5D3  .CR2 files.  I can open them in PS and LR5….and I'd seen examples of folks opening them with AE CS6 standalone, but it doesn't seem to recognize mine.
Any thoughts? Is there something I need to update, or flag or change?
    I'm on a mac, OSX 10.7.5
    AE verson: 11.0.4.2
This is what my import screen looks like:
    Thanks in advance,
    C

I read through those linked pages, but they didn't give me any solution.
After nosing around through a LOT of sites on Adobe's site (why aren't pages dated, took forever to find the most up to date or pertinent pages)…I found this one that was slightly related, but worked for me.
    http://helpx.adobe.com/bridge/kb/acr-84-bridge-cs6-metadata.html
I had to download this zip, and manually place the plugin as directed, and now, After Effects CS6 will recognize my CR2 raw files from my canon 5D3.
Thank you for the help, it led me in the right direction, but the link above was the actual solution I found that worked!!

  • Camera Raw Plugin "Not Recognized File Type"

It was suggested that I post this here...
I'm trying to install the camera  raw update for the Canon Rebel XS in CS4.
I downloaded the newest RAW update,  and the files still didn't work, and then when I went back and  downloaded the camera-specific update, I get a plugin and photoshop says  that "Photoshop does not recognize this type of file."
    Any ideas?

You should always run the latest version of the Adobe Camera Raw for the particular version of Photoshop you are using.
In your case that means ACR 5.7, which is the last to run with CS4.
There's no such thing as a "camera specific version" of Camera Raw.  Once a camera is supported by a specific version of ACR, it will always continue to be supported in all subsequent versions of ACR.  You need to run the latest version because each update contains unannounced enhancements and bug fixes.
There will not be any further updates of ACR for CS4, so you must use ACR 5.7.
Note that ACR 6.1 will not work with CS4.  The 6.x series of ACR requires CS5.
The error message you describe—"Photoshop does not recognize this type of file"—is returned by Photoshop when you attempt to open the plug-in by double-clicking on it instead of installing it.  It is NOT meant to be opened, it's meant to be installed in a specific folder.  Read the instructions.  As a matter of fact, try updating through the auto updater in the Help menu of Photoshop or Bridge:  Help > Updates…
Only if that doesn't work should you perform a manual installation of ACR according to the instructions.

  • D610 RAW files not recognized by LR5.3?

I just got a new camera this week - a Nikon D610.  I have Adobe Lightroom 5 and have processed my RAW files from my last camera with no problem.  However, when I went to import my files just now, it tells me it is not supported.  I checked for updates, it said no updates are available (it is version 5.3).  I checked to see if D610 is supported and it is.  What can I do??

You definately should avoid Nikon software products ;-). They tend to be very buggy. Doesn't really matter which version.
    My .02:
You should definitely avoid using the older versions of Nikon software which makes raw files unreadable in Lightroom (and definitely use Phil Harvey's utility to fix them after the fact).
But in general, I have found Nikon software products to be very reliable with remarkably few bugs in Windows.
Granted there's not much need for them if you have Lightroom .

  • Canon S95 CR2 raw files not recognized

I just bought my wife a Canon S95 specifically because it could produce raw files. I just tried to import her first pictures using Lightroom 3.2 and CR2 files are not supported. Silly me I did not check the supported camera list. The S90 is there but not the S95. When do you think Adobe will get around to supporting this camera?

    Hi Amir
    >As suggested above, use ExifTools.  After downloading it, you can simply run (under windows):
thanks it worked great with a Mac as well, within terminal. I added overwrite to remove the original ( I had already made a copy)
exiftool "-CanonModelID=PowerShot S90" -overwrite_original  /Volumes/DRIVE2/CanonS95/folder1 (wherever your files are located)
here's a link to more exiftool info if anyone else wants to give this a try.

    >In general, ACR/LR gets updated 3-4 times per year based mostly on the number of new cameras released in a time period.
thanks for the info, is the process of adding new cameras very involved, or are the delays because of difficulty getting raw data from the manufacturers?

  • Nikon raw files not recognized on CompactFlash card

    Hi all,
I inserted my CompactFlash card (containing Nikon NEF files) in a card reader connected to my iMac today. iPhoto opened, showed the card but said there were no photos on the card. Image Capture also shows the card but says there are no images.
Examining the card in the finder showed the images as expected. I was able to copy them to the hard drive. When I imported them from the hard drive into iPhoto, the images were extremely pixelated. These same images open normally in Adobe Camera Raw and Photoshop CS3.
The card and card reader imported fine on an iBook G4 running iPhoto 6.
I tried the following to resolve the issue:
    • refomatted the CompactFlash card, shot an image and attempted import
    • rebuilt iPhoto library
    • deleted preferences for iPhoto and Image Capture preferences in /Library and ~/Library
None of these were successful. Does anyone have any thoughts on further steps I can take to resolve this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Terence. I initially did not find the RawCamera.bundle in /System/Library/CoreServices. I looked it up in Time Machine and found the version number. I then restored it from Time Machine backup and restarted. All works fine now. Now I need to figure out how RawCamera.bundle got deleted yesterday as I was not messing around in the /System/Library/CoreServices folder.
Thanks much for the help and ideas all.

  • RAW FILES NOT LARGE AFTER OUTSOURCING LR SMART PREVIEWS : images staying at Smart Preview sizes. What is wrong?

My friend's RAW files won't go back to the large size they were after outsourcing LR SMART PREVIEWS to outsource editor.
what went wrong?  When she sent the files to the outsourcer they were NOT zipped together.
They were ZIPPED back to her however.

Describe exactly what steps were taken. It doesn't make sense that the editor sent her smart previews. Normally she would do Export to Catalog, checking the box to include smart previews, and send this exported catalogue and its smart previews to the editor. The editor would then send the catalogue back to her (the smart previews are no longer needed), and she would do File > Import from Another Catalog.

  • Sony A7 mk2 RAW file not recognized

I recently upgraded from a Sony A7 to a A7mk2. When I try to import the RAW file from the A7mk2, Lightroom cannot provide preview of the file and would not import the files. It was working fine with A7 files. I tried to open the new file with Photoshop CC and Camera Raw could open the file. Can anyone tell me what I am missing in Lightroom. I am currently running Lightroom 5.7 and Camera Raw 8.7

The regular version does have an update. its available here. Product updates
You can only use the CC if you have a subscription.
If you have a license key you have to use the regular update.

  • Canon 70D RAW file not recognized in PSE 11

I tried opening a RAW file from my Canon 70D in my Elements 11.  It did not recognize it.  I read Elements 12 can read it.  Can I upgrade to 12 for free?  If not how can I get  my Elements 11 to open the RAW files?

Elements 12 will open the files if you update the camera raw plug-in to the latest version.
When the version number to the left of the decimal point increases then you have to pay more money.  For Elements this is once per year in the fall.  Upgrading from PSE11 to PSE12 would be an upgrade-price, which is cheaper than the non-upgrade price.
You can use the free DNG Converter to convert your raw files to DNGs and open then with an older versions of the camera raw plug-in.
Download the latest DNG Converter from a link on this page:

  • Canon G7X camera raw files not recognised in Aperture?

I use Aperture 3.5 extensively and have updated to, I think, 6.07 which is the latest update pack but the RAW files are still not recognised in Aperture. Am I doing something wrong or any idea when aperture will be updated for this relatively new camera. Many thanks

The list of cameras that are supported by Aperture is here:
    http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs/raw.html
Your camera is not yet on the list, sorry. You'll have to wait for the RAW support to be released. You amy want to use your camera's software to develop the RAW files and to convert them to another lossless format.
