Camera Raw in PS Elements?

Is it possible to use the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in (v.6.x) in Photoshop Elements?

I am looking to possibly purchase Photoshop Elements, current version is 10, from what I have seen on the ads.  So I would like to use Camera Raw 6.7 in PSE 10.  I did not know if this Photoshop plug-in, which is earmarked for Photoshop CS5 and CS6, would work in Elements.
Thanks,
Steve Waller

Camera Raw update in Elements 11
I have installed Camera Raw 8.3 in Elements 11 to use RAW files from Canon EOS 70D
However when checking the about in Elements 11 it still says installed version is 7.4 and it will not open RAW files from camera.

I know nothing about Photoshop Elements. But, according to this list, Photoshop Elements can only work with Camera Raw through version 8.0.

  • Adjustment Brush Tool or Graduated Filter Tool in Camera Raw for Photoshop Elements 12?

Is there an Adjustment Tool or Graduated Filter Tool in Camera Raw for Photoshop Elements 12?

Those are Lightroom tools for those who don't want to use a regular pixel editor like Photoshop or Elements which have much more powerful tools to do that.
The idea with the reduced set of feature in the ACR version of Elements is that features available in Elements are not necessary in ACR. You need to use the Elements editor more frequently than if you are working with Lightroom.

  • Have OMD EM5, need Camera Raw and PS Elements that work with this camer

I've been using PS Elements 9 on a MAC.  Can't use RAW.  Know I need a plug-in.  If I upgrade to PS 12, how do I find out what Camera Raw I need?  What is compatible with this camera (OMD EM5)?

Yes, you need at least PSE 11, but PSE 12 should work just fine. Download the trial and check it out.
Here's a list of the minimum versions of ACR for each camera model:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
PSE 12 comes with ACR 8 and can be updated to 8.5.

  • Camera Raw in Photoshop Elements 12

    Hello,
I read on chip.de that camera raw is freeware if you use a Adobe product. But the camera raw version in my photoshop elements 12 has only very few possibilities compared to the complete version. And there is also no update higher than 8.5. Is that correct?
So I need to buy Lightroom to have the full function of camera raw? Photoshop is to expensive for me as a hobby photographer.
    Greetings, Nina

  • Trying to install camera raw updates for elements 12 having trouble

as i am trying to install the camera raw up date it stops and asks me to shut down elements editor, when i do it continues to come back to the same screen and never lets me move forward. Any suggestions on how to fix or am i doing something wrong on the update.

Yes, when I tried to edit raw image from file it popped up that the camera was not supported. ( I had a Rebel  XSI and upgraded to Canon 70D). Below is the error report that popped up.
Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw.
Please visit the Camera Raw help documentation for additional information.
So when I went into help and clicked upgrades that is when I ran into the problems.

  • Can't go from Bridge/Camera Raw to Photoshop Elements 8

I originally installed trial version of photoshop CS4 and photoshop elements 8.  I decided I liked elements better so that is what I purchased.  I did fresh install off of purchased disk.  I can launch bridge from within PSE8, then camera raw from Bridge, but can't Open into PSE8 from bridge or camera raw.  I can open camera raw but when I finish and click "open" the file always tries to open into Photoshop CS4 (for which the trial is now expired).
I have updated to camera raw 5.7 and followed the instructions on the adobe site.  I can tell the camera raw plug in is running from the CS4 library   Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS4\File Formats  (deleted it there and it no longer worked)  and not from Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-ins\Elements 8\File Formats.
Any suggestions on how to get my PSE8 to play nice with bridge and camera raw and run the camera raw plug in from my PSE8 file formats instead of CS4\file formats?

Yes I am using an Imac with snow leopard.  Thank you for your help!  I changed every file association I could in the bridge file associations from PS CS4 to Photoshop Elements.
Changing the file type association took care of the problem in bridge for .dng files as long as I open the dng file from bridge to photoshop elements (brings up camera raw which when click done returns me to elements).
The panasonic file association in bridge is .raw but my raw camera files are .rw2.  Can't find that one in the associations of bridge.  The fortunate thing is they do open from finder into preview (if that helps at all).
I can now work around this by changing them to .dng files, but that is kind of bulky.
    Thanks again for your assistance.

  • Cannot Open a JPEG image as a Camera Raw file in Elements 5.0

I tried opening a JPEG image, using "Open As" function into Camera Raw in Elements 5.0 Editor and I receive a "program error" message. How can I change settings or otherwise enable Elements 5.0 to open a JPEG into Camera Raw?

The latest version of ACR which is compatibe with Elements 5 is ACR4.6. You can download it fromhttp://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/thankyou.jsp?ftpID=4034&fileID=3758
I think the Adobe site says 4.5 was the last forElements 5, but I know 4.6 works.  ACR5 needs Elements 7(or possibly 6). Good luck

  • Camera Raw update in Elements 11 Editor

I just bought Photoshop Elements 11 Editor from the Mac App Store. I need to update Camera Raw to version 7.4, but there is no Update option under the Help menu. How can I upgrade Camera Raw?

    Hi Eduardo,
Unfortunately Apple does not allow Updates via any other application and ACR gets updated via Adobe Application Manager on desktop which is a different updater app hence this can not be done for PSE 11 MAS build.
    Thanks

  • Camera Raw 4.3 Elements 5.0 & CS2?

I hope I can ask this clearly. It is my understanding that Lightroom "uses" ACR for its raw conversion. On my laptop I have Elements 5.0 and Lightroom 1.3 installed. On my Desktop I have the same plus PSCS2. So.. On the laptop I have installed ACR 4.3. and I am assuming that Lightroom is using 4.3 for raw adjustments.
On the Desktop, knowing that ACR 3.7 is as far as I can go with CS2, Is there any way to install ACR 4.3 into Elements 5.0 and know that Lightroom
    is using 4.3?
    Thanks!

    > Is there any way to install ACR 4.3 into Elements 5.0 and know that Lightroom

Lightroom is already using the 4.3 engine. For Lightroom it's not a "plug-in". And yes, you can install 4.3 (it shows a limited functionality in Elements) in Elements 5.0. But, if you need to round trip between Lightroom and a pixel editor, you really might want to look into upgrading to Photoshop CS3.
See the download page for instructions on how to install Camera Raw 4.3 in Elements 5.0.

  • Will there be a Camera Raw update For Elements 10 for the new Canon 5D Mark 3?

I have the new Canon 5D.  Love the results but, I can not process the photos in Lightroom 4 or Elements 10.  I downloaded the update for CS5 to see if there was a work around but I don't know my way around the software.  It looks like someone dropped the ball big time on this one.
    Joe

Ok, so what is so different in the Camera Raw for CS5/CS6 Beta vs Elements?  You would think that they would be both the same!  There are a lot of professionals like myself bought their Canon 5D Mk 3 thinking that the software would be there to support the camera release.  Sure, I am also wondering why Canon hasn't done an update with the release.   This feels like buying a car and some day in the future - we don't know when there will be road that you can drive it on.
Tried to convert the Mk 3 DNG files. Didn't work.  Get a purple or pink cover over the images.  It works great with my 7D files.
If I had a Camera to fall back on I wouldn't be so desperate but my Canon 7D (Which I have enjoyed for the last two years) was destroyed in a accident the day before the Canon 5D mark 3 was anounced.  So, I am starting from scratch and I need access to my Raw files to get my work done.  Working with Canon Software is not what I would use in a productive work flow.  If this was a hobby - OK but for production work, I need the right tools and right now, LR 4 which is the back bone of my work is useless.

  • Camera RAW 7 and Elements 9

I'm using the Beta version of CS6 and there is a CAMERA RAW 7 program that I would like to use in my Elements program. The RAW editor in Elements (current) always has the sliders in a pre-set configuration, not at zero. Using CS6 Beta, the Camera RAW (7) editor opens up with the sliders set at zero, a much better way to edit. Since I'm a bit overwhelmed by CS6, I've resorted to RAW editing with the Beta, closing it while saving the .DNG data, then opening up Elements and continuing from there. I'd love to have the RAW 7, but if someone can help with my issues with my version, that's cool too ! I've tried to vary the settings, nothing seems to do the trick. Thanks **

ACR 7.0 is currently only availably in Lightroom 4 and CS6 Beta. It’s a brand new raw engine which produces amazing results in the highlights and shadows areas of images. The old brightness, fill-light and recovery sliders have disappeared. Whilst ACR 7.0 should ultimately to be available for PSE10 it’s unlikely an update for PSE9 will be available.
