Is Camera raw supplied with elements 13 the full version as supplied with lightroom?
I use Elements 10 at present which has ACR 6. Elements 13 has the newer ACR 8. I have seen screenshots of this on Lightroom which include many more facilities than my version has.Does the Elements 13 have the same set of facilities, or does it have a simplified version.
It has the same basic engine, so you are getting the updated processes, but Adobe makes sure that PSE never gets all the features in LR or PS.

Camera Raw update in Elements 11

I have installed Camera Raw 8.3 in Elements 11 to use RAW files from Canon EOS 70D
However when checking the about in Elements 11 it still says installed version is 7.4 and it will not open RAW files from camera.I know nothing about Photoshop Elements. But, according to this list, Photoshop Elements can only work with Camera Raw through version 8.0.

Hi,
Yes, both Camera Raw and Bridge are included. Bridge will need a separate installation, however.

Camera RAW issues with Canon T4i
I have many, many cameras and have used Photoshop and Bridge for years. Even though the latest updates for Camera RAW says it can handle the T4i, I tried opening these files on two separate computers, both running Win 7 64 bit, and my having Photoshop Extended 5+ 64 bit on both computers.
I tried reformatting the camera card, wanting to eliminate that as a possible problem, and the same problem exists.
Camera RAW will recognize all of my other cameras, the D Mark III, T3i, Nikon D2x, D3, D3X, so on and so forth, but not the T4i.
I stopped short of doing an image restore on that machine, thinking my installation of Photoshop must have been corrupted when I removed Elements and Preimere Elements, but no...I'm now on an IBM W701 with the same software and I have the same probem.
If someone from Adobe would like me to send them a file from the T4i, I will. If I shoot in jpeg, there are no issues. But I do not shoot in jpeg. I only did it to see if perhaps it were the SD card.
Any help would be appreciated.With Photoshop CS5 (I think that's what you said) you no longer have access to the latest updates for Camera Raw.
Photoshop CS5 can only take up to Camera Raw 6.7 (latest version is 7.1, which goes with Photoshop CS6 only).
You'll either need to upgrade to Photoshop CS6 or download the free DNG converter and go through the extra step of converting your T4i images to DNG before opening them in Camera Raw 6.7.

Adjustment Brush Tool or Graduated Filter Tool in Camera Raw for Photoshop Elements 12?
Is there an Adjustment Tool or Graduated Filter Tool in Camera Raw for Photoshop Elements 12?
Those are Lightroom tools for those who don't want to use a regular pixel editor like Photoshop or Elements which have much more powerful tools to do that.
The idea with the reduced set of feature in the ACR version of Elements is that features available in Elements are not necessary in ACR. You need to use the Elements editor more frequently than if you are working with Lightroom. -
Why is there a difference in Camera Raw in PE Elements and regular Photoshop..? Camera Raw is Camera Raw
Yes, I see:

Manipulating Camera Raw settings with javascript
Is it possible to manipulate the Camera Raw settings with a javascript? I've been looking for info on this and have had no luck finding any.
What I'm doing is multiple conversions from a single RAW file set at different exposures, brightnesses, sharpnesses, etc.
Here are the basic steps:
1. Open RAW file in ACR.
2. Adjust for a baseline image.
3. Open image as an object in Photoshop.
4. Duplicate that object layer and run "edit settings" on this new layer.
5. Make adjustments ***
6. Click OK to apply new settings to this layer.
7. Repeat steps 4-6 on original layer as many times as needed.
I got everything working as I want, but I'd like to be able to automate step 5 for certain file types so that it will set some of the settings for me without going through the dialog to do this. The settings I'd really like to be able to adjust this way are exposure and brightness and if possible, I'd like to set them in relation to the original layer's settings for those parameters.Here is what I had in mind. Note the document is the same size as the raw file. This will place 5 copies of the raw file in the activeDocument, each with a different exposure.
var rawFile = new File( "~/Desktop/DSC_5396.NEF" );
var xmpFile = new File( "~/Desktop/DSC_5396.xmp" );
var exposures = ['-2.0','-1.0','0.0','1.0','2.0'];
for(var e=0;e<exposures.length;e++){
setExposure( xmpFile, exposures[e] );
placeFile( rawFile );
function setExposure( file, exp ){
file.open('r');
file.encoding = "UTF8";
file.lineFeed = "unix";
file.open("r", "TEXT", "????");
var xmpStr = file.read();
file.close();
loadXMPLibrary();
var xmp = new XMPMeta( xmpStr );
xmp.setProperty( XMPConst.NS_CAMERA_RAW, "Exposure", exp );
file.open('w');
file.encoding = "UTF8";
file.lineFeed = "unix";
file.write( xmp.serialize() );
file.close();
function placeFile( file) {
var desc = new ActionDescriptor();
desc.putPath( charIDToTypeID('null'), file );
desc.putEnumerated( charIDToTypeID('FTcs'), charIDToTypeID('QCSt'), charIDToTypeID('Qcsa') );
var offsetDesc = new ActionDescriptor();
offsetDesc.putUnitDouble( charIDToTypeID('Hrzn'), charIDToTypeID('#Pxl'), 0.000000 );
offsetDesc.putUnitDouble( charIDToTypeID('Vrtc'), charIDToTypeID('#Pxl'), 0.000000 );
desc.putObject( charIDToTypeID('Ofst'), charIDToTypeID('Ofst'), offsetDesc );
executeAction( charIDToTypeID('Plc '), desc, DialogModes.NO );
function loadXMPLibrary(){

try{
ExternalObject.AdobeXMPScript = new ExternalObject

}catch (e){

Does Camera Raw come with CC or another program?
Does Camera Raw come with CC or another program? I don't see it in the options.
Camera Raw is not a program, it is a plug-in/ extension for Photoshop, Bridge and other programs that latch onto this like when importing Raw files in video apps.

Have OMD EM5, need Camera Raw and PS Elements that work with this camer
I've been using PS Elements 9 on a MAC. Can't use RAW. Know I need a plug-in. If I upgrade to PS 12, how do I find out what Camera Raw I need? What is compatible with this camera (OMD EM5)?
Yes, you need at least PSE 11, but PSE 12 should work just fine. Download the trial and check it out.
Here's a list of the minimum versions of ACR for each camera model:

PSE 12 comes with ACR 8 and can be updated to 8.5. -
Camera RAW Editing with Photoshop Elements 7.0
I am editing Canon Camera RAW format images with Photoshop Elements 7.0.
When I try to use the Clone Stamp option, an error message indicates that I need to change to 8 bit color to continue. I am also aware that some feel that 8 bit color is good enough. I would like to keep the 16 bit color.
Will upgrading to Photoshop Elements 8.0 allow me to keep 16 bit color?
Thanks
Bob AZNo, as far as 16 bit support, pse8 is pretty much the same as pse7.
Pse9 is due out within a few months, so who knows whether more 16 bit support
will be added or not.

Problem with Camera Raw update in Elements 11
I need to update the raw plug-in in elements 11, but when I go to the update section, I just keep getting an error message (which says server busy or might be prevented by firewall). I suspect that my firewall is stopping the updates, but I don't know how to over-ride this. Can anyone explain it please? (I have managed to 'allow' certain things on the firewall, but for this update, I don't know what I'm looking for to 'allow'!
I know nothing about Photoshop Elements. But, according to this list, Photoshop Elements can only work with Camera Raw through version 8.0.

Can I upgrade Camera Raw support in Elements 10 to level 8.3 or 8.4?
I just bought a Nikon D5300 and I wanted to shoot see some test images I shot in Camera Raw. Trouble is that Elements 10 support for NEF files is at level 6.7, and, according to the Adobe charts, the D5300 NEF files are supported at level 8.3 or 8.4 because the camera is newer than Elements 10. So, I tried to run an update in Elements 10, but it's telling me that it's up to date.
So, how do I get support for my new camera in Elements 10? Is there a way to upgrade the Camera Raw support to level 8.3 or 8.4?I posted a second question because I tried the DNG converter, but it doesn't support the 5300, or I can't get it to work. So, my thought was to try to find a copy of PSE 11 I could register, and then try to upgrade it.
Soapbox mode on.
Much of the conversation about raw files relates to the continuous improvement process of both the camera manufacturers and the software makers. In my case, Nikon released the D5300 in November 2013 with full support for it in its View NX software. And I can use that software to create JPEG's that PSE 10 can work with, but it's far from an optimal solution.
Adobe brought out PSE12, and the Camera Raw plug in covers a host of new cameras including mine. OK, but the issue is that those of us who have 'older' software then are forced to upgrade to the PSE version that will support our cameras, instead of just installing a plug-in, as we do to our browsers when a new version of Flash Player comes out. the only thing constant is 'change'.
It's apparent from comments I've been reading on the Forum that many of the Adobe employees who answer questions here are put out by the pace of change and the amount of work they have to do in order to respond to new cameras, etc. That's their job, and they should complain less and work more, IMO. If those Adobe employees are irritated by the questions we users ask, perhaps they should reconsider the attitude they display in answering them, or maybe even a career change.
However, Adobe itself should be making the plug-ins for PS, LR and PSE so they can apply to older versions when possible. Adobe needs to set a horizon on what older products to work with, and not just the latest version. When I worked in software development, that horizon was -2 versions plus the two in development. By that logic, PSE 10 should be capable of supporting the latest versions of the Camera Raw plug-in. And if I were in Adobe's software development unit, this is what I'd pitch for. Microsoft does it, and Adobe does it too with Microsoft products, so why not with PS, LR and PSE? It's not that hard, people.
Soapbox mode off.
I can and probably will use the Nikon software for raw images. If I want to use some special effects, I can come back to PSE or LR. But I'm not disposed to throw another $80 to Adobe for a product every time I buy a new camera.

How do I access camera raw from withing Lightroom
Bear with me as I am new at this. I am trying lightroom and have read several reviews of 1.1 and Camera Raw 4.1. I read Martin Evening's update on 1.1 and he has a whole section on using CR to make adjustments to the raw file.
I imported several raw images in nef and dng formats into lightroom. I cannot see any way to open Camera Raw from any of the menues in lightroom. Could someone tell me how I get to Camera Raw 4.1 from within lightroom?
I have no problem accessing the image in Camera Raw from Bridge. It was my understanding that you do not need Bridge, just Lightroom to use Camera Raw.ACR operates as a plugin within Photoshop or Photoshop Elements and does not operate on its own.
Lightroom is a separate software program which incorporates the ACR conversion processes for working with raw files. It does not require your having Photoshop installed on your computer.
I think Adobe has created a lot of the confusion in re naming the program "Adobe Photoshop Lightroom" from the earlier name of "Adobe Lightroom" since it is not a part of Photoshop.
