Camera raw not working and updates not working

I have just re installed CS5 Extended after a system disc failure. Photoshop works but when I try to open raw files I get a message to say my camera is not supported (Canon550D. It was of course working previously)
I have tried updating the software but non of the updates work. I get an error message to say "Error in down loadin, Try again later"
I have deleted the software and re installed but no change.
Can anyone help?

  • CS5: Camera Raw Not Working

    Hello -
I am currently using CS5, and when I purchased it, I was under the assumption that it uses the new Camera Raw 6 Plug-In. Does it come with this Plug-In built in? Or do I need to download it? I cannot find a download page for it (unless it's not released yet) and Adobe's wording makes me assume it comes built in: "This powerful plug-in has been frequently updated to support more cameras and include more features and is available as part of Adobe Photoshop CS5".
If it did come built into the software, I don't think it is working properly for me and I was wondering if anyone else is having issues. My previous suite version was CS3, and I would select a photo in Bridge, open it up in Camera Raw to make corrections, and then from Camera Raw, I could open it into Photoshop to make further modifications.
With the new CS5, I cannot open any of my RAW images from Bridge into Photoshop. I have even tried using Mini-Bridge. It won't even open the image in Camera Raw first. I assumed the Plug-In must not be there, so I tried looking for Camera Raw 6 and since I couldn't find it, I tried downloading Camera Raw 5.7, and still no luck. It simply won't open my RAW images.
Can anyone shed some light on this matter?
    Other info that may help:
I use Mac OS 10.5.8 and I use a Canon EOS 5D. I also work off of a Lacie external hard drive if that makes a difference (which it shouldn't).

Adobe Camera RAW (ACR) 6.0 comes with Photoshop CS5, and gets installed with Photoshop CS5.
There is no separate download page because it comes with CS5.
You may have a bad install - try reinstalling.

  • Camera Raw not working/recognising CR2 files - CS5, Mac

I cannot get Camera Raw to work. It worked before but took some fiddling around to get it to work. I am using CS5 on a Mac. My camera is supported by the version of Camera Raw I have and it is the latest update for CS5. Help please.

    Hi there
    Thank you for your questions.
    I am using Mavericks.
    Camera is a Canon 6D.
Camera Raw is 6.7.1.340. According to Adobe my camera should be recognised by this.
This is the message I get when I try to open a CR2 file.
Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw. Please visit the Camera Raw help documentation for additional information.
Yes, all Readable Documents is selected in the first drop-down menu. Bottom drop-down menu is Camera Raw.
In Bridge the CR2 files appear as white rectangles instead of images.
I realise that I can convert my CR2 files to DNG but from what I have read on Adobe information I understand that this is not a requirment as Camera Raw should work without having to convert every image to DNG first - or am I completely misunderstanding this?

I have Photoshop CS5.1 (bought in 2011). The photoshop Camera Raw plug-in is not recognizing the format of my new Nikon D610. I updated the version of my Camera Raw plug in and am still getting this message when trying to open images in photoshop. Please help.

This link shows that ACR 8.3 supports the Nikon D610 and 6.7.1 was the final version for CS5.
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
So you can upgrade to CS6 and ACR 8.7.1
or using the DNG converter, convert your Nikon raw files to dng format to open in CS5.
Here is the download link: Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh : Adobe DNG Converter 8.7.1
or Windows: Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows : Adobe DNG Converter 8.7.1
And here is a great video tutorial on how to use the converter.

  • Camera Raw 5.2 and DNG Converter Available - Note from Adobe

Camera Raw 5.2 and the DNG Converter is now available:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2008/11/camera_raw_52_and_dng_converte.html
Lightroom will be updated to version 2.2 with equivalent camera support in December.

Well, I managed to locate and download both the ACR 5.2 and the DNG 5.2, but it was a bit of a challenge. I have a couple of comments regarding the DNG installation.
As a sometime OS beta tester, I have developed a habit of keeping C:\ for the operating system only. When a new OS or beta is issued, I just format C: and install the new OS. I try to keep applications off C:. It is hard, though, with all the default installations. It would be nice to have the option to install DNG.exe in my applications partition.
My workflow involves importing NEF's from the memory card to a folder, and at the same time converting those NEF's to DNG's and putting them in a different folder in a different partition. Both these NEF's and DNG's are archived. A copy of the DNG's are used as working images. The virtue of DNG's is that there are no sidecar files to keep track of when exporting images. Unless I really mess up, I never go back to the NEF's again. I guess that I am an "outlier" too. I guess that this is essentially the 5 - A "double DNG-only" workflow, using type 2, the native-DNG-DNG system. This is discussed in detail by Barry Pearson at http://www.barrypearson.co.uk/articles/dng/safety.htm#personal
I do like the camera profiles. I previously have used the Fors script. My Nikon D200 lacked red and the Fors script fixed that. Not surprisingly, different profiles are appropriate for different image types. Is there any way of determining the methodology and reasoning between the different profiles, and what specific problems each one is designed to correct. This might permit better matching profiles to image types, with less trial and error.

Installed the CC updates yesterday. Downloaded pics from my Canon 70D in Camera Raw. Since the updates Bridge no longer recognizes them; advises me to get the latest update, which I have. Both Photoshop CC's recognize the pics, just not Bridge (thanks for having Photoshop now show thumbnails of CR pics). Any Ideas on how to fix?

Thanks for the link Jeff. Couldn't find any links on the Adobe site.
Even with that link though, I was still left puzzled as it didn't give multiple versions, just a 32 bit and 64 bit version.
I tried the 64 bit and it didn't work, so I assumed that was what had already been installed in the update.
Now installed the 32 bit version, and fingers crossed. At least it starts up now!

I've just installed CS6 creative suite mainly for photoshop CS6. It comes with camera raw 7.0.something, but need something newer to use my canon 6d. When I download camera raw 8.5 and install the raw converter doesnt work anymore, wont even open or isnt available anymore in the plugin list. Tried to reinstall everything for a few times, but nothing helps.

When I search for updates the raw converter doesnt get update automaticly. Frustrating, is costing me the whole morning.

  • Which version of camera raw will work with elements 9 and a Nikon D5100? How do I download photos to it?

I have Photoshop Elements 9 and use a Nikon D5100.  I have downloaded camera raw 6.5 but cannot download photos to it.  Does camera raw start automatically or do I have to manual start it?

    That did I, thanks.

  • Camera RAW support 2.2 update and Nikon .NEF unsupported image format

    Hi,
I Use a Nikon D2x and only take raw images (.NEF file)
After I update from RAW support 2.1.1 update to RAW support 2.2 update, all my raw image file (.NEF file) taken before 13th September 2006 ! would not display - In the Aperture program, if i navigate to a project / folder and clicked on a thumb nail in the browser, I get a magenta / cyan screen showing in the main viewer panel with unsupported image format. ?
This is my worst-case scenario ! - I have entrusted Aperture with all my digital images (all raw .NEF) images taken before 13th September 2006 are un accessible with camera RAW support 2.2 update installed !
I have deleted (the 2.2 update) “from” System/Library/CoreServices/RawCamera.bundle and reinstall the RAW support 2.1.1 update.
    * NOW I can now see all my raw Nikon .NEF images and they are now all fully functional again *.
Their is a problem with the Apple digital camera RAW support 2.2 update, it rendered the Aperture program useless to me for my older .NEF image/files (as above).
    This requires a fix ASAP
    Martin

Thankfully, I wasn't affected by the issue given I'm currently with Canon. There have been Canon woes in the past though.
On a side note, I never update anything until it has been out for a few weeks just to be sure. Because Aperture is such an integral component of my studio and business, I make sure everything always works before making any updates or changes - including upgrading cameras.
I'm sure the next update will fix the magenta issues.
    Best,
    CD

  • Camera Raw not available in Ps -Br Trial

How can I get Camera Raw to work in Photshop trial, after opening Br from Ps and clicking Camera Raw item The following message appears "Camera Raw editing not enabled"
"camera Raw editing requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature." Is a trial not a qualifying product?

    Hi,
I suggest posting this query in the Adobe Camera Raw or Adobe Photoshop forums.
    Thanks

  • Elements 7 seeing old Camera Raw & not new one!?

I have downloaded and installed Camera Raw 5.5. on a Windows XP PC running PSE7. The previous version of Camera RAW 4.4. is removed but kept in a folder for safekeeping on the desktop (as Adobe ReadMe recommends).  When the RAW editor is launched somehow, PSE loads 4.4 and NOT 5.5!
I have removed 5.5 and repeated several times but the same happens.  Also tried holding down the SHIFT key when booting up the Editor workspace but no difference.
Is there anyway that some kind of preference file is preventing this newer version 5.5. loading and that I can get rid of it?
I have of course rebooted the PC more than one to see if that would clear things but no difference.
Any suggestions as to how I can get 5.5. to be opened?

To report back and to help any other user who may experience a similar problem:-
I have replaced Camera RAW 5.5. with Camera RAW 5.6 and still the Elements RAW Editor is showing Camera RAW 4.4 (as explained in my other postings).
However, under HELP > Plugins, I can now see & confirm that there is ONLY one CAMERA RAW plugin installed and in use. This is Camera RAW 5.6.
For some reason, PSE 7 itself is not updating the information (version number) that it shows in the Camera RAW Editor BUT it IS using Camera RAW 5.6 and not as its title bar shows as Camera RAW 4.4.
This seems to be a problem related to the actual PC or maybe XP, as I have now replicated the same update on another PC but one that is running under Vista and everything has updated as I would expect. Maybe, it is a one-off.
THANKS to each person that helped me clarify the problem and reach a satisfactory, if not perfect, solution. Much appreciated!

  • In bridge i select a jpg image with cntrl r to open in camera raw but get "camera raw not avail"

In bridge i select a jpg image with cntrl r to open in camera raw but get "camera raw not available"  camera raw editing requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature.  I can open nef. in camera raw with no problem.

Hm, what I suggested might actually be a possibility then...
Close whatever version you have open first...
I think Adobe installs shortcuts for both 32 and 64 bit Photoshop in the start menu.
If you can't find the 32 bit Start menu entry, look for the 32 executable here (changing the CS version number to whatever yours is):
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Photoshop.exe

  • "Camera Raw Not Enabled" Camera Raw editing requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature.

I upgraded my computer yesterday to a Mac Mini 2014 from a Mac Mini 2011. Restored the drive from Time Machine.  The message I received when trying to use Photoshop was I had to many computer enabled. The option was to disable the other two and use this one, which I did. I tried to open a JPG in ACR and got the message "Camera Raw Not Enabled" Camera Raw editing requires that a qualifying product has been launched at least once to enable this feature". If I open a Canon RAW file Adobe Camera Raw opens normally. Stumped.

The problem cleared itself. Don't  have a clue why.

  • Camera Raw not seeing changes made by DPP

I am not sure whether this is a procedure problem or capability.
When I edit a (canon 50D) CR2 file in Canon DPP ver 3.6.1.0 and save it as a CR2 file, then open the same CR2 file in camera raw ver 5.5 it does not see any changes made by DPP  it opens up the file as an original.  All changes made by DPP are gone.
So my question is, is there a way for camera raw to see and use the changes made by DPP.

    Thanks Gabor
You have confirmed my suspicion,  I am aware that any changes made by DPP or most other software to raw files is only recording changes and not actually applying the changes until it is converted and saved to another format.  Was hoping that ACR would be able to read the changes.
The reason I wanted this is I find that DPP does a better job removing noise from high ISO images then ACR, but I prefer the rest of the editing features of ACR, so what I hoped to do was to use DPP to remove noise and finish editing in ACR.
Was just a though, thanks for the help.
