Camera RAW only converts 1 image at a time

Hi, I recently upgraded to CS6 from CS5.5 on Windows, and i recently just did some work in Camera Raw,  and I noticed that when I saved the RAWs into JPEG format, it only did one image at a time, instead of the 3 at a time that CS5.5 did. How do i change it so that it's more than 1 at a time, because that saved me so much time when it did more than 1 before. Thanks

Apparently the multi-threaded save is a cloud-only feature, now.
Here is what I see on my Windows 7 64-bit computer saving the same set of miscellaneous images in the two different PS versions using the same version of ACR.

Here's a screenshot of what i mean below:
    I have Camera RAW 8.2.
So at the top you see the one image processing. On CS5.5, three images processed at once, so I was surprised to see this in CS6.

I need to get the Adobe Camera Raw to convert my Raw shots to jpeg.  Do I buy Photoshop CS6, Photoshop CC or can I just get simply the ACR?  I am not a professional photographer and am only using photoshop sparingly.  I currently have an old version of Photoshop, the Photoshop CS4.  Thanks.

The program would stop, but the files would remain on your computer. Before stopping, you could do a batch convert to tiff or png, with a strong recommendation for tiff. Png only support transparency whereas tiff supports layers, live type, transparency, etc.
Keep in mind the app you open the tiff file in may not support all of those features, but it could if they tried.
The psd files I would backup to a cd or dvd before removing for space, but if you have the room, keep them as some apps do support psd files.
Best part is when you are ready, you can start your subscription again and use all of those files once again.

  • How can I make a pdf book with "camera to pdf" option on phone? I can only convert one pic at a time

How can I make a pdf book (single pdf file with several pages)  with "camera to pdf" option on phone? I can only convert one pic at a time. ( Or )how can I attach all those pictures converted pdf's into one pdf file which obviously results in to a single pdf file with several pages in it ?

Adobe Reader on the iPhone is a PDF reading app. It's not a creation app.
You need to get an app like Pages which is intended for page layout. It can place pictures from the phone and export PDF.

  • How can I download Camera Raw?  I bought CS2 a long time ago and it was upgraded to CS5 but I do not have Camera Raw plug in.  Thank you

How can I download Camera Raw?  I bought CS2 a long time ago and it was upgraded to CS5 but I do not have Camera Raw plug in.  Thank you

Which camera make and model are your Raw files from?
Camera Raw ships with Photoshop and is constantly upgraded by Adobe to keep up with new cameras as they are released to market.
It's likely that your camera requires a version of Camera Raw which is not compatible with your CS5. Or you may simply need to upgrade Camera Raw via Help > Updates in Photoshop.

  • Updated camera raw / DNG converter for CS4 compatible with D800 NEF?

I have just bought a D800 but cannot convert my NEF files into DNG. I have Photoshop CS4 with latest camera raw updates available. I see in the forum that an update is available in the lab but only for CS5. Shall we expect an update for CS4 as well? Thanks

No.  There will be no more ACR updates for Photoshop CS4.  That version is no longer supported.  You can download the DNG converter and convert your images to digital negative files that can then be opened in the ACR that you already have.  Since your camera is so new I'm not sure if it's even supported by the DNG converter.  You might have to wait for the next update.
Your other alternative would be to upgrade your Photoshop.  Of course, that will cost a little money.  But not nearly as much as your new camera did.

  • Camera Raw objects convert to "2010" if opened

My workflow involves DNG’s that have had basic corrections and sharpening applied with Lightroom 2.x. I open these as object layers in Photoshop, giving me the flexibility to still make adjustments to Camera Raw settings if needed. With PS12 and ACR 6.x, the simple act of opening these smart layers immediately converts their “process” (under the “Camera Calibration” tab in ACR) type from LR 2.x-compatible “2003” mode to “2010 (current).”
“Process” changes how sharpening and noise reduction behave, and is meant to provide compatibility with the “older” “2003” settings, which are still very much alive for users of PS10-11 and all LR (production, not beta) users.
PS12/ACR6 automatically applies the “2010” process whenever the ACR dialog is accepted, whether during file open or layer open, even if you never open the tab that “process” lives in. While ACR changes the mode, it leaves sharpening and noise settings unchanged, resulting in significant over-sharpening of the raw images. I can go to this tab and manually reset the mode to “2003,” but I really shouldn’t have to.
ACR 6 should default to using whatever “process” it finds in the raw file’s xmp, and remain in that mode unless the user explicitly changes it. If there are no previous settings, then ACR would default to the “2010” process. If (for some reason) users want the new-file default to be “2003," then create a preference in ACR to make that happen.
This would allow me to not worry about “process” toggling behind my back on “old” files, and would allow PS 12 to properly respond to all files; those that have had settings changed in ACR 5.c or 6.x, as well as unprocessed ones.

That's a bug and should be fixed in the release version of ACR 6.1.

  • Camera Raw/DNG Converter 3.5 Update Posted

    Windows:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Windows
    Macintosh:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Macintosh
This new version of the Camera Raw plug-in replaces the original Camera Raw plug-in that was installed with Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 and 4.0 software. Visit the Camera Raw page for a complete list of supported cameras.
    Important notice:
Read the installation instructions carefully. Incorrect installation will prevent Adobe Bridge and Adobe Camera Raw 3.5 from reading raw images correctly.
Support for the following cameras has been added in this update.
    Kodak EasyShare P712
    Nikon D2Xs
    Panasonic DMC-FZ50
    Panasonic DMC-L1
    Sony A100

To answer the most likely questions:
No, this update does not support the Nikon D80 nor the Canon 400D [Rebel XTi] yet. We receieved these cameras too late in our development cycle to make the cut for this release. We understand there are a lot of users now getting these cameras who want support as soon as possible.
There are also a bunch of other cameras models likely to be announced at Photokina which will want to support as soon as possible.
Because of this demand, we are planning to make the time gap between the ACR 3.5 and 3.6 releases shorter than usual, so you will not have to wait all that long for support.
Also, we are nearing completion of the Beta 4 release of Lightroom. This will be released fairly soon (before the release of ACR 3.6). Lightroom is currently in a free public beta program:
    http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/lightroom
Beta 4 of Lightroom will have preliminary support for both the Nikon D80 and the Canon 400D.
So in the time period the Beta 4 release of Lightroom (soon) and ACR 3.6 (shorter cycle than usual), you wil be able to processor your Nikon D80 and Canon 400D files using Lightroom Beta 4. You will also have the option of using the Beta 4 build Lightroom to convert the Nikon D80 and Canon 400D raw files into DNG format, which can then be used with ACR versions as old as 2.4.

  • Using the Camera RAW interface for JPEG images

I realize JPEG's don't have the information level of RAW files, but does the convenience and speed of the RAW interface not make it worth using rather then going to the usual tools like Levels and Hue/Saturation? I discovered that you can open JPEG images in the RAW interface by choosing File > Open As...and selecting "Camera RAW" as the file format. Here you can not only use the RAW interface but also change the image to 16-bits. I also understand that upscaling an image from 8 to 16-bits doesn't add more information, but would working on it in the RAW interface at 16-bits not produce more subtle changes and give you more control over the outcome.
Looking forward to some intelligent feedback.

From a mathematical perspective, it would seem that using the extra information in the up-sampling interpolation calculations would be better. The question is whether or not the extra digits in the calculation would produce a difference in the image. I suspect that it would be quite image dependent. Easy enough to test, with the right kind of image, whatever that is?

  • Camera RAW - freezing while editing image and also wont update to new version

I moved from Mac 10.6.8 computer to a new Mac 10.10 computer. When I did, I transfer of all my files through data migration and it moved photoshop and bridge over for me without having to reinstall. Which was good because I do not have the disc anymore. My Adobe version is CS5. The problem I am having is that when I open large amounts of files within camera RAW (like anything over 15), the camera RAW program freezes. I then have to shut it down and reopen it again. I made sure to try other folders and files and it has happened over 6 times in different locations and different files and different amount of files opening. Any ideas? I noticed that maybe I needed to update my Adobe application because of the computer move, but when I went to the help menu and update, it goes through the entire process of updating all Adobe Applications and fails giving an error message only at the end saying, " There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later."
    HELP!

"Migrating", transferring or copying applications is not just asking for trouble, it's demanding trouble.
Always install from scratch, from the original media, CD/DVD or download.

  • Nikon AW110 .NEF Files in Camera Raw / DNG Converter

I'm a bit new to NEF, and even RAW to be honest. But far as I can see both DNG converter 8.2 and Camera Raw (newest) is not happy with the .NEF Files from my Nikon AW110 camera. It won't open them.
Is this something that will just be updated in DNG or RAW sooner or later? I have an early release of the AW110 and naturally there is not too much support out for it yet.
Please let me know if I should be able to open these or not. It's no worry if there's nothing i can do about it yet, I just want to make sure my camera raw or photoshop isn't broken.
Trying on OS X 10.9 (and 10.8) Photoshop 14.1.2 and Camera Raw 8.2.0.94
    Thanks guys

ACR/DNG Converter 8.2 were released mid-Sept, which seems to be about the time or just before the Nikon 1 AW1 was available, so you’ll need to wait until at least the next release of ACR 8.3 / DNG 8.3 sometime in during late-Nov to early-Jan timeframe, I’d expect, unless there is something strange about that camera that requires extra time.
The first place ACR/DNGC are available is the release-candidate at Adobe Labs, so check back there from time-to-time:

    Hi,

  • Camera Raw 4.1 - Open Image in 16 Bit mode

How does one do this? The Help Screen describes altering Camera Raw Workflow Options at the bottom of the Camera Raw Dialog box. I could do this in ACR 3, but my dialogue box in 4.1 has buttons at the bottom for "Save Image", "Open Image", "Cancel" and "Done". I can't see anything that will give me additional options. How do I find them? Any advice will be much appreciated. Terry

  • Camera Raw only offers to open 16-bit raw files in 8-bit mode

I am using a windows CS6 Bridge => Camera Raw (8.2) => CS6 Photoshop (13.0.1 x64) to try to open various 16-bit raw files (.dng, .nef, .arw) which Bridge sees as 16-bit, but only an 8-bit version makes it into photoshop.
How do I convince Camera Raw to do its job?
Lightroom (4.4) is able to export a 16-bit .psd which sort-of-works but shouldn't be necessary.
    Thanks in advance,
    Steve

You set the bitdepth in your work options dialog box, which you access by clicking on the line that looks like a link right under the ACR preview:
Don't be afraid to read the Help files or other documentation that came with Photoshop (otherwise known as Read The Fine Manual).
