Camera Raw preference

How do I set Camera Raw preference to: Save image settings in: Sidecar ".xmp" files?

Thanks for the responses.  The reason I ask is because of the instructions from Adobe.
Sharing Lightroom Settings with Camera Raw
By default, Lightroom’s develop module settings are stored in Lightroom’s database. In order to ensure that Lightroom develop settings can be viewed by Camera Raw 6 the settings must be written to the XMP metadata block for that file. This metadata is stored in an XMP sidecar file (Imagename.xmp) in the current image directory of proprietary raw files or stored directly within DNG files. To update images with the latest develop settings, choose the library module and select the group of target images. Choose the ―Save Metadata to File‖ option in the Metadata file menu.
Viewing Lightroom settings in Camera Raw
Before working in conjunction with Lightroom 3 and Camera Raw please set the Camera Raw preference to: Save image settings in: Sidecar ".xmp" files.
I'll review your responses and hopefully it will all work out.  Thank you.

  • Camera Raw Preferences in Adobe Bridge CS6

I can click on Camera Raw Preferences from the Adobe CS6 Menu, but nothing happens. No error meesages come up, but nothing happens.
I recently installed ACR7.3. I did have some problems getting ACR7.3 installed. The updater from Photoshop and Bridge didn't seem to install it.  I had to download ACR7 and install it.
After the successful install of ACR7.3,  I can double click on an image in Adobe Bridge CS6 and it will open the raw image in ACR7.3 in Photoshop CS6.
The other annoyance is that the images for my RAW files for my Panasonci GH3 don't display in Adobe Bridge. They appear as a blank icon
    I am running on a Mac OS X 10.6.8 64 bit
    Adobe Bridge CS6 5.0.0.399
    Adobe Camera Raw 7.3.0.71
    Adobe PS C6 13.0.4  x64
I do have older versions of Adobe CS5 and CS4 that I have never removed. I've never had problems before. And didn't need the space so I just left them.
Any ideas of why Adobe Bridge CS6 and ACR7.3 aren't in sync? - Thanks Rod

Ok, everything was ok until I rebooted my machine. Now when I open Adobe Bridge CS6, The Raw images show up initially. But when Adobe Bridge finally gives me control, the images have become blank icons again. I've tried the CommandOptionShift and it does not help.  It was fine for two weeks and now I can't get the raw images to stay.
Here is what I see as Adobe Opens the older. The Raw images are viewable.
Now this is how they look after Adobe Bridge has finished opening and I can click on something:
Where do I go from here?

  • Camera Raw Preferences greyed out in Bridge 4.05.11

I have recently downloaded an update for Adobe Camera Raw / PS CS5 via automatic updates and now I cannot open raw files via Adobe Bridge (V4.05.011). When I double click the NEF file In Bridge it tries to open in PS but I get "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document".  Camera Raw Preferences in Bridge is grayed out and Camera Raw plug-in does not appear in PS Help/About Plug-ins.
I have checked that Camera Raw Plug In is still in the program files: common files>adobe>plug-ins>cs5>file formats.
I have tried updating via the Updates in both Adobe Bridge and PS CS5 and it tells me there are no updates.
I am using Windows XP 32 bit, PS CS5 V12.0.4
I have been trying to fix this problem for days and would really appreciate some help.

Bridge: Apply all CS3 updates in order, bottom to top.
Photoshop Version CS3 (not CS3 International), Start from the bottom with Buffering Extensions, 10.0.1 update, and you can go all the way to Adobe Camera Raw 4.6
If you have a camera models beyond what's supported in 4.6 and your OSX is 10.7 or later, download the 8.7.1 DNG converter.

  • Bridge and Camera RAW preferences not working

    I'm setting up a new Macbook Pro, late 2013 15", 10.9.2
CS6 Production Premium, Also have Indesign CS6, LR5, Acrobat Pro 11. Camera RAW is version 8.4. Everything is up to date.
Bridge and Camera RAW preferences are not working correctly. Bridge prefs related to Bridge display, e.g. color theme, text beneath thumbnails, favorite locations, etc.. all work fine. Bridge prefs open and close fine with no errors. "Double Click Edits Camera RAW Settings in Bridge" does not take. Photoshop launches to open Camera RAW regardless of whether this is checked or not. Camera RAW preferences will not open. Selecting "Camera RAW Preferences" from Bridge does nothing. Camera RAW seems to work fine hosted by Photoshop.
I tried a new user with the same results.
What's up with this? Anyone else seeing this? Solution?

  • "Camera Raw Preferences..." / "Open in Camera Raw" broken (using Bridge 2.1.1.9)

I'm having some trouble getting Bridge to see my Camera Raw plugin -- oddly enough, I can double-click on a raw file and it'll open in
ACR via Photoshop, but it won't load in
ACR on its own. On top of that, Bridge isn't showing me the thumbnails for any of my raw images (though it will show thumbnails for JPEGs) and both the "Camera Raw Preferences" and "Open in Camera Raw" menu items are grayed out:
For what it's worth, I'm running Adobe Bridge 2.1.1.9 and Photoshop CS3 10.0.1 on a MacBookPro running Leopard 10.5.2. Here's what I've tried so far:
I've read over the entire "
++ Debugging ACR Installation Problems ++" thread and I've done my best to precisely follow the directions there...
As mentioned in that thread, I've installed "Camera Raw.plugin" to Macintosh HD:Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-Ins/CS3/File Formats/ (and I've also searched my hard drive to confirm that this instance of "Camera Raw.plugin" is the only one on the drive) :
(If you click on the screenshot, you'll see a larger version.)
I've also checked Photoshop's About Plug-in menu and I've confirmed that "Camera Raw" appears exactly once:
After clicking on "Camera Raw" from the plug-in menu, I can confirm that it's version 4.4.1:
I've also run "Tools->Cache->Purge Cache" for various folders that have raw images and, along with that, I've tried manually deleting the Users/[Username]/Library/Caches/Adobe/Bridge folder.
Just for good measure, I've also tried starting up Bridge while holding down the Option key and then choosing the option to delete all the prefs from the dialog box that comes up.
Any ideas on where I've gone wrong?

I started experiencing this same problem three days ago when I installed ACR 4.5. I have been through the forums, trying anything and everything that has worked for other users. Finally, I hit on one crazy possibility.....and it worked.
ACR was working fine in Photoshop, but suddenly in Bridge it would not display thumbnails for my CR2 images or allow me to open them in Camera Raw.
So what fixed it for me? Remember, I had tried everything mentioned in all the posts and none of it fixed it. But one user pointed out that they only had "Camera Raw" show once in Photoshop's "About Plug-In" menu. I had noticed I had it appearing four times, once for 4.5 and once for each of the three previous versions! Working on a hunch, I went to the folder where CameraRaw.8bi exists and found that I had a "save" folder there as well. The save folder contained the three prior versions. I moved the save folder outside of this location -- AND ACR WORKS AGAIN IN BRIDGE!!!
So now I'm left to wonder only one thing -- did this work okay until I added 4.5, or did I somehow create the save folder (and add previous versions of ACR) in my sleep when I installed 4.5? In the end, I'm just happy that it works again.
I hope this helps a few others of you out there!

  • No Camera Raw preferences in Bridge.

I checked everywhere and it seems the only place to find Camera raw preferences is in Edit > camera raw preferences (i am running windows). When i check the only preferences there is general preferences. I have updated all my Adobe applications and did not fix it. Does any one else have this problem and is there anyway to fix it?

I have the problem, I've been unable so far to find a solution. Yesterday I Posted a thread on that in both this forum and DPreview's forum....no solution so far.

Even though I have checked "Automatically open all supported TIFF's" in Camera RAw Preferences - My tiff files do not open up in camera RAW. How can I correct the problem?

What kind of TIFFs?  Are they multi-layered, for instance?  ACR will not open layered files.

  • Camera Raw Preferences dialogue.

    Hello everyone,
I have looked everywhere around the net to find some info about the Camera Raw preferences dialogue box in Elements 11 and what the settings mean/change. All I can find is 'Preferences - allows you to change the Camera Raw preferences'.
There must be a reason for having a preferences dialogue icon/window in Camera Raw, the button is right up there next to the rotate buttons. Does anyone know what the settings do and how/why one would use them?

There's not much about just the elements version of camera raw, but there are quite a few articles about the full version of camera raw as it is in photoshop.
Some of the stuff mentioned won't be in the elements version, but it does describe just about every function in camera raw.
    http://www.peachpit.com/articles/article.aspx?p=1620779&seqNum=5
(down almost at the end of the page)
Also, the latest version of camera raw is 7.4, so might want to update pse 11 by going to Help>Updates from within the
    photoshop elements 11 editor.

  • Camera Raw Preferences & Lens Corrections

I downloaded CS5 this a.m. and cannot access the Camera Raw Preferences when in Bridge.  When I click on Preferences it does nothing.
Also when in Camera Raw and click on the Lens Correction, I don't see the new lens feature that shows up in the various tutorials about this new lens correction feature.  The Lens Correction panel looks like the one in CS4, not what is shown for CS5.
Any Suggestions?  I'm on a Mac Pro, running CS5 in 64 bit.
    Sue

Thank you Rick!  Now I can quit pulling my hair out wondering why I don't see it.  It shows up in all the tutorials so you'd think it would be there.  I'm sure they'll hear about this and get the update out soon, but like you said  "How soon is soon?"
    Thanks again,  Sue
Now if I can only figure out why Camera Raw Preferences won't open.  Maybe that will be fixed with 6.1.

  • Camera Raw Preferences- Tiff / JPEG Handling -CS 3

In the Camera Raw Preferences > JPEG + Tiff Handling Section I have " Always open TIFF/JPEG Files with Settings Using Camera Raw" UNCHECKED. Yet, when I double-click on an image in Bridge to open it, it opens the Raw window. I want the image to open directly in Photoshop. What do I need to do?

There are other preferences to be UNchecked. Carefully examine Camera Raw prefs, Bridge prefs and Photoshop prefs.
    Then relaunch Bridge and Photoshop.

Even though I have checked "Automatically open all supported TIFF's" in Camera RAw Preferences - My tiff files do not open up in camera RAW - PS 6

Sorry I'm taking to along, but I checked a few things using ACR 8.6
Saved a png as an 8 bit tiff, then to 16 bit. Changed the background layer into a floating layer, all opened in ACR.
It was when I added an adjustment layer, that it no longer opened in ACR.
Now what can I recommend? If you have Lightroom, you can Import and work on your layered tiffs that way. I hope this is a viable alternative for you, because I think ACR does have a problem with layered tiffs and I don't really know of any workaround, but you are free to explore.

  • Confused by a Bridge Preference in camera raw

    Hello,
I am setting up preferences in Bridge to open up JPEG's in camera raw, as well as raw images.
There are 2 sets of preferences in Bridge-regular preferences and camera raw preferences.
I understand the camera raw preferences, where I can have it disable Tiffs, but open all jpegs or jpegs that have been processed in camera raw.
However, in the regular Bridge Preferences-there is an option to : "Double Click edits Camera Raw Settings in Bridge"  - can someone explain to me what this preferences does?
    thanks!
