Fixed Issues
The following issues have been fixed in Camera Raw 7.4 release candidate:
The grayscale visualization associated with Noise Reduction Luminance was visible after mouse release.  This occurred when positive Clarity was present.
The command/control + A “select all” keyboard shortcut did not select all photos.
Modifying the brush size using the Right-click + Drag method did not increase or decrease the brush size by the desired amount.
The crop overlay tool resized incorrectly when used in conjunction with the “Constrain to Crop” checkbox in the Lens Correction panel.
Hovering the mouse over a local adjustment pin would turn off the desired mask.
Horizontal artifacts occasionally appeared in DNG files.
Improved interactive performance at intermediate zoom levels (e.g., 33% and 66%)

Sorry this was my mistake.  Yes, we meant to say Nikon 1 J3.  And the Leica model that is newly supported in 7.4 RC and 4.4 RC is the Leica M (Typ 240).
The M Monochrom has been supported since ACR 7.1 and LR 4.1 (last year).

  • Camera raw images change colour in adobe bridge

I have photoshop CS4 and import my camera raw images into Adobe Bridge.  When I view the thumbnails in bridge my raw images look vibrant and exactly like they appear on the camera but when I go to open them in camera raw edit they change colour and look washed out before I've made any changes.  Can anyone help me figure out how to correct this?

    ssprengel wrote:
My camera is set to shoot sRGB JPGs and is set to all zeros for the brightness/contrast/saturation parameters.
What is your camera set to as far as these basic toning settings, as well as any automatic things like DLighting or highlight compression and perhaps any custom curves or whatever that is called for Nikons?
First paragraph - so is mine.
Second paragraph - all other settings are neutral/zeroed/turned off, as per my post to which you responded. That is, no additional tone curves - Active D-Lighting turned OFF (why anyone would let the camera decide what to do do with highlights and shadows is beyond my level of trust) , Jpg compression is Optimal (least possible) et cetera.
Think I now have an explanation for the different displays in ACR (and Bridge) that I have been experiencing. Took a new duplicate Jpg/Raw shot with the in-camera Picture Control set to Neutral. Now, when both the Jpg and .NEF Raw are viewed in ACR, with the ACR Camera profile set to Camera Neutral, they appear, ASAICT, identical. Saved Camera Neutral as the default ACR Camera profile. Now back in Bridge, the images also appear pretty much identical.
I think what was happening previously was that I had failed to save Camera Standard in ACR as the default Camera profile, and it was defaulting to Adobe Standard, and hence it was rendering Raw thumbnails for Bridge to that Camera profile - hence the difference in appearance between the Jpg and Raw in Bridge. Unless I have got it completely wrong,  I think my problem is now solved.

  • Why You Should Set Photoshop to Open Your JPGs in Adobe Camera RAW | Creative Suite Podcast: Photographers | Adobe TV

In this episode of the Adobe Creative Suite Podcast Terry White shows the advantages of setting Photoshop to open your JPGs in Camera RAW by Default.

Thanks Terry! I’ve been using this for a few years and settled on the somewhat more flexible approach… As you mentioned, Bridge offers an explicit command to open a JPEG or TIFF in Camera Raw, which I do, but then with a press of Shift I can open that JPEG as a smart object and revisit CR controls for further adjustment at any time later in the process.

You have a wild hair about Bridge, Noel?
Not at all.  I like good tools, and from everything I read Bridge is marvelous.  I don't have anything against Bridge, I just don't need it.
As a computer engineer, I use my computer for WAY more than just Photoshop.  As such, I do everything I can to have the operating system (via Windows Explorer) integrate things for me.
For example, via right-click or double-click or drag and drop onto icons:
I access my configuration management system from Explorer (Tortoise SubVersion).
I do searches (grepWin) from Explorer.
I compare things (Beyond Compare) from Explorer.
I start Photoshop and other image tools on raw and processed image files I manage with Explorer.
I start my development tools (Visual Studio and a host of utilities) from Explorer (e.g., double click .sln files).
I access my web sites with Explorer (via WebDrive).
I get file paths from Explorer (right click, Send to Clipboard as Name).
I access office management apps from Explorer (e.g., double click .doc or .xls files).
This is an abbreviated list.  Explorer can be a VERY powerful integrator, and is at the center of my computing world at a higher level.  So now you can start to imagine why I prefer Explorer for image work.

Can you please verify if OOBE folder is present in Program Files\Commo

Lightroom, Camera Raw and DNG Product Manager

Despite the fact that the bug list does not announce any of this, I'm very happy to report that LR3.2 RC seems to run quite a bit snappier in many ways. Local edits are still slower with an image that already had a lot of tweaks applied compared to applying them on a fresh image, but overall the performance seems to be much improved.
Its still early days and I'll have to do some real work but so far it looks very promising. Thanks for the release candidate!
The stuttery cursors of the spot removal and red-eye tool are gone as well. Nice touch. I now have an idea why it had been these two cursors that were different. They are the only ones which may need to change mode if the cursors are run over previous applications (i.e. there has to be a collision test with round shapes other than the handles). In my current testing I noticed that said cursors sometimes can become stuck completely and only move on after a slight pause. I think this is a new bug as I haven't seen it before. Hope it is not Lua garbage collecting. Moving the cursors around shouldn't really be a problem even if there are some collision tests to be performed.
A bug I reported about the spot removal tool not working well in corners also appears to have been addressed.
I've only done a very quick test so nothing is definitive but indeed looks promising.
The only issue that might have gone worse is the jerkiness of scrolling through the grid mode with the scroll bar. It wasn't great before but I now seem to experience more frequent and longer pauses in updating the grid. Please, everyone compare the (on my system jerky) way the scrollbar moves the grid to grabbing the grid with the mouse (move the cursor on a line between images and it will turn into a hand). If you move the mouse while having grabbed the grid, the updates are smooth and allow visual tracking of the images while they move. The movement with the scrollbar is so jerky that I cannot visually track the images as they pass by.
Note that scrolling with cursor keys is very fast without pauses but the movement isn't smooth (jumps with the image height) so again visual tracking is hard.
I have an idea why the scrollbar is as decoupled from the grid movement as it is, but I hope that there is room for improvement. I'd be prepared the grab the grid even though that would mean precision manoeuvres with the mouse, but unfortunately, you don't really get far with this method.

  • Camera Raw with PSE 13

Is Camera Raw supplied with PSE 13  much improved than that with PSE 9

LR4 introduced PV2012 and the corresponding version of PS's ACR would be 7.x, but ACR 6.7 was released with the ability to understand LR 4 settings, since LR was released before PS that year, but it didn't have the full UI to adjust everything.  I think there was a way to switch to PV2012 in ACR 6.7 just to get to the older and newer settings if both were in the XMP metadata but I don't think all the toning sliders were there until ACR 7.1, just the common ones like Clarity that switched back and forth between the two PV methods.  I remember some problem that ACR 6.7.x fixed but there was never a LR 3.7 released to fix it since LR 4 was already out.  Of course I may be remembering some of this wrong, too.
Look at the first comment and reply:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2012/03/camera-raw-6-7-available-on-adobe-labs.html
Here are the ACR 6.7 release notes that talk about things looking different between LR 4 and ACR 6.7 (RC?) as well as a problem with Clarity so maybe I've comflating the two in my mind:
Adobe Camera Raw 6.7 and DNG Convertor 6.7 Now Available on Adobe.com
Of course this has nothing to do with PSE9 since its last ACR was 6.5, the year before PV2012 was available.

  • Adobe Bridge CS6, Camera Raw

    Hello,
    I need urgently help.
I'm working on a MacBook Pro with Adobe Bridge CS6 since more than 1 year, using Camera Raw, v 8.6.0.254 without any problems.
Last month I bought a Mac Book Air and installed Photoshop Elements 12, Adobe Bridge CS6 and Photoshop CS6. But I'm still missing the possibility to open my pictures in Camera Raw.
After downloading the actual version 7.01 of Camera Raw from the website of Adobe.com and trying to install it I got the following error report:
    UPDATE FEHLGESCHLAGEN;
Updates konnten nicht installiert werden. Dieser Path ist für Sie nicht geeignet.
Name of the downloaded program is: AdobeCameraRaw-7.1-mul-AdobeUpdate.
What shall I do to get Camera Raw running?
Thanks so much for your help

What camera  and version of ACR?

  • Camera Raw Preferences in Adobe Bridge CS6

I can click on Camera Raw Preferences from the Adobe CS6 Menu, but nothing happens. No error meesages come up, but nothing happens.
I recently installed ACR7.3. I did have some problems getting ACR7.3 installed. The updater from Photoshop and Bridge didn't seem to install it.  I had to download ACR7 and install it.
After the successful install of ACR7.3,  I can double click on an image in Adobe Bridge CS6 and it will open the raw image in ACR7.3 in Photoshop CS6.
The other annoyance is that the images for my RAW files for my Panasonci GH3 don't display in Adobe Bridge. They appear as a blank icon
    I am running on a Mac OS X 10.6.8 64 bit
    Adobe Bridge CS6 5.0.0.399
    Adobe Camera Raw 7.3.0.71
    Adobe PS C6 13.0.4  x64
I do have older versions of Adobe CS5 and CS4 that I have never removed. I've never had problems before. And didn't need the space so I just left them.
Any ideas of why Adobe Bridge CS6 and ACR7.3 aren't in sync? - Thanks Rod

Ok, everything was ok until I rebooted my machine. Now when I open Adobe Bridge CS6, The Raw images show up initially. But when Adobe Bridge finally gives me control, the images have become blank icons again. I've tried the CommandOptionShift and it does not help.  It was fine for two weeks and now I can't get the raw images to stay.
Here is what I see as Adobe Opens the older. The Raw images are viewable.
Now this is how they look after Adobe Bridge has finished opening and I can click on something:
Where do I go from here?

  • Adobe Bridge Photo Downloader with Camera Raw 9 on MAC OS 10.9.5

I just updated to Adobe Camera Raw 9.0 on 4/28/2015.  MAC OS 10.9.5 with PSCS 6 extended.
When I insert my CF memory card to download images, only icons appear.  Images were there last week when CR 8.8 was installed.
Also note, Convert to DNG is greyed out.  No option to convert to DNG on the download.
I tried to locate the Camera Raw.plugin file, but can not find it.  It is no longer in the Application folder/Adobe Photoshop CS6/File Format folder.
Also tried to locate Camera Raw.plugin 8.8 on Adobe's site, it takes you to Camera Raw 9.0.
I just need the Camera Raw.plugin file and where to place the file.  Need to remove Camera Raw 9.0.

  • Adobe camera raw will not respond in bridge cs6?

adobe camera raw does not respond in adobe bridge? I am trying to open Jpegs, which i have previously been able to do so by right clicking and opening in adobe camera raw. Now it is unresponsive.

You are definitely in the wrong forum for Bridge CS6 and Adobe Camera Raw. You have posted in the Adobe Premiere Elements Forum (video editing focus).
You probably want to be posting in the Photoshop Forum.
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop
My preliminary findings suggest possible workaround
    a. Open camera raw in Photoshop 5 or 5.5 and then open edited raw image in Bridge CS6
    or
    b. There is a preferences route to check out.
Not being a Photoshop user, this is a quick suggestion where you might start looking. This is apparently a known issue.
The Photoshop users should be able to give you all the details and options you have for workarounds for now.

  • +++ Adobe Camera Raw - Frequently Asked Questions +++

Q: Is my camera supported by Adobe Camera Raw (ACR)?
A: Here is the list of cameras officially supported by the current version of Adobe Camera Raw and Digital Negative (DNG) converter. The page also provides links to the current version of ACR and DNG converter for both Mac and Windows.
Q: what version of Camera Raw should I install?
A: Photoshop CS6: see first question.
Photoshop CS5: Camera Raw 6.7 Win | Mac
Photoshop CS 4: Camera Raw 5.7 Win | Mac
Photoshop CS 3: Camera Raw 4.6 Win | Mac
Photoshop CS 2: Camera Raw 3.7 Win | Mac
Photoshop CS: Camera Raw 2.4 Win | Mac
    For Photoshop Elements, Windows:
Photoshop Elements 10: (See first question)
Photoshop Elements 9: Camera Raw 6.5
Photoshop Elements 8: Camera Raw 6.2
Photoshop Elements 7 and 6:  Camera Raw 5.6
Photoshop Elements 5: Camera Raw 4.6
Photoshop Elements 4: Camera Raw 3.7
Photoshop Elements 3: Camera Raw 3.6
    For Photoshop Elements, Macintosh:
Photoshop Elements 10: (See first question)
Photoshop Elements 9: Camera Raw 6.5
Photoshop Elements 8: Camera Raw 6.2
Photoshop Elements 6: Camera Raw 5.6
    Photoshop Elements 4.0.1: Camera Raw 4.6 ( 4.1 under Mac OS 10.3)
Photoshop Elements 3: Camera Raw 3.6
Q: What version of Camera Raw started to support my camera?
A: This page: http://www.adobe.com/go/kb407111 lists when support for the raw files of your camera was added in Camera Raw. If the version listed is higher than the one supported by your version of Camera Raw, you first need to convert the files to DNG using the latest version of the DNG converter in order to open them in Camera Raw.
Q: I do not have the latest version of Photoshop, how can I open the Raw files from my new camera?
A: Only the current version of Photoshop will receive ACR updates that add support for the latest cameras. However, you can download the latest version of the DNG converter, and use it to transform your raw files to the universal DNG format. Camera Raw 2.4 in Photoshop CS and all newer versions of Camera Raw compatible with your version of Photoshop will be able to open the DNG files. Photoshop 7 and ACR 1.0 do not support DNG, therefore you will need to upgrade to the latest version of Photoshop.
Q: When will the new update of Adobe Camera Raw be released?
A: Adobe cannot comment on unannounced products, however, it is expected that ACR and DNG converter will be simultaneously updated 3 or 4 times per year (i.e. every 3 or 4 months).
Q: What does "Unofficial Support" for a camera mean?
A: Unofficial support means that Adobe's Quality Engineering department has not tested the support to the degree that they want, and thus cannot guarantee the results. So we don't include the camera in our official lists, and don't provide any technical support. Unofficial support means "use at your own risk".
Q: How do I know that Adobe Camera Raw is installed correctly?
A: For Photoshop CS customers, the most efficient way to ensure that you have the latest Camera Raw update installed correctly is to choose the Updates option from the help menu. For Photoshop Elements customers the best way to verify that the Camera Raw plug-in is installed correctly is to make sure it appears (only once) in the "About Plug-in" menu (see: Photoshop menu on a Mac or Help menu on a PC). The correct version is displayed when you pick its name and see its about box. If "Camera Raw" is not in this list, you have not installed it correctly.
Q: Why is the profile listed in the Calibration tab showing a version of Adobe Camera Raw that's older than I am using ?
A: What you are seeing is normal, and is due to the fact that the built-in profile for your particular camera model hasn't changed between that version of Adobe Camera Raw and the version you're using now. If you see the profile listed as "beta" then your camera has only unofficial support.
Q: Why is there more than one profile listed in the Calibration tab of Adobe Camera Raw?
A: The built-in profile for your particular camera model has changed since it was first supported. The profile shown by default identifies the latest version of Adobe Camera Raw in which the profile was updated. Other profiles in the drop-down list identify those included with earlier versions of Adobe Camera Raw, and are available in case you want to maintain compatibility with earlier versions.
Q: My camera is listed, but Photoshop cannot read its raw files.
A: Download and install the most recent update to Adobe Camera Raw.
Q: Where can I download the latest version of Adobe Camera Raw?
A: Adobe Camera Raw for: Macintosh and Windows
Q: I am trying to replace my existing ACR plug-in with a more recent version, but cannot find ACR in my Photoshop/Plug-in/File Formats folder. Where is it located now?
A: As explained in the "Readme", which can be found on the ACR download page, the correct location is:
    Photoshop CS2
    Mac: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-ins/CS2/File Formats/
    Win: \Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-ins\CS2\File Formats\
    Photoshop CS3
    Mac: /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Plug-ins/CS3/File Formats/
    Win: \Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-ins\CS3\File Formats\
Note that "Common Files" is localized in non-english versions of Windows.
Q: Why do I only see a small generic icon in Adobe Bridge instead of a thumbnail when I browse the folder containing my RAW files?
A: Bridge occasionally has difficulty with RAW files, but this is usually because the user has installed ACR into the wrong location or browsed the folder prior to installing the ACR plug-in that provides support for their particular camera model. The fix for this issue is usually to make absolutely sure that ACR is installed correctly, then purge the Bridge cache. If you're in the habit of using the Distributed cache (Bridge 1.x) it would be prudent to manually delete the cache files from the folder containing your RAW files.
Q: Whenever I open an image in Adobe Camera Raw a small explanation mark within a yellow triangle appears in the upper right hand corner of the image.
A: This symbol indicates that a high quality preview is being generated by Adobe Camera Raw. It should disappear after a couple of seconds.
Q: How do I turn off Auto Adjustments in Adobe Camera Raw 3.x?
A: Open Adobe Camera Raw. On the Mac press Cmd+U or on the PC Ctrl+U. This keystroke combination toggles Auto Adjustments On and Off. Alternatively, disable the Auto Adjustments setting from the fly-out menu adjacent to the Setting drop-down menu. If you want the default to be Off for Auto Adjustments simply choose "Save New Camera Raw Default" from the fly-out menu adjacent to the "Settings" drop-down menu then choose Done.
Q: What about Adobe Camera Raw 3.7 and newer versions?
A: Camera Raw 3.7 no longer supports per slider auto adjustments. One Auto control at the top of the panel now sets the Exposure, Shadows, Brightness, and Contrast sliders to their auto values. The Default control at the top of the panel sets these same four sliders to their default values. The keyboard shortcut for the Auto control is CMD/CTRL-U.
The keyboard shortcut for the Default control is CMD/CTRL-R.
Double clicking on a slider to set that single slider to its default value.
Shift double clicking on a slider to set that single slider to its auto value.
Q: Why do I get the the following message: "Unable to create an .xmp sidecar file. The image settings will instead be stored in the Adobe Camera Raw database."
A: This message means that Adobe Camera Raw is unable to write to the XMP sidecar file. Either the media is read-only (e.g. a CD), or you don't have write access to the folder containing the image, or the existing XMP sidecar file is locked.
Q: I cannot see all the tools and buttons of Adobe Camera Raw.
A: Set your monitor resolution to the minimum required for Photoshop CS and higher, i.e. 1024x768.
Q: Where can I obtain a listing of Adobe Camera Raw keyboard shortcuts and modifiers?
A: On the Photoshop online help file.
Q: When I open my Nikon NEF files, all I see is the simple version of the raw dialog.
A: You are running Nikon's plug-in, not Adobe's. Delete from Photoshop's plug-in folder and all subfolders all copies of the "Nikon NEF plugin". Nikon automatically installs this plug-in in up to two places inside Photoshop's plug-in folder, and both must be deleted. Otherwise it overrides the Adobe plug-in. An alternative to the deletion is adding ~ in front of the Nikon plug-ins names.
Q: I installed the update. I can now open my raw files, but I still cannot see thumbnails in the file browser.

Q: Is it better to resize my images in Camera Raw, or in Photoshop?
A: The resampling code is fairly similar to (but not exactly the same as) the "Bicubic Sharper" resampling in Photoshop CS and CS2. It does not make very much difference which stage you do the resampling in. The exception is non-square pixel cameras (Nikon D1x and Fuji S2 Pro), for which it is best to upsample one size step in Camera Raw if you need a larger image.
Q: What are raw images, and how do they differ from JPEG ones?
A: Read this whitepaper (1MB PDF) written by Bruce Fraser for a concise answer.

    You can check compatibility yourself:
    1.  Go to this page to see the different releases:  http://forums.adobe.com/thread/311515?tstart=0
    2.  Navigate into the download link for the appropriate version of Camera Raw.
    3.  Follow the link to the ReadMe (e.g., http://www.adobe.com/special/photoshop/camera_raw/Camera_Raw_4.6_ReadMe.pdf).
    4.  Look to see whether your camera is supported.
    5.  If your camera is NOT supported, you can use the free Adobe DNG converter to create .dng files that your Camera Raw will be able to open.
Photoshop CS6 is anticipated to be out in a few months, and Camera Raw is supposed to have a whole new approach, so a lot of us are excited about anticipating that.

  • Adobe Camera Raw - Cancel a crop or straighten - ESC not working

    Hey Guys,
I am trying to learn photoshop for the first time.  I currently have Photoshop CS5.1, but am thinking about upgrading to CC in the near future.  I have been following along with tutorials on Lynda.com in order to learn all of the functionality of the program.
I am currently in the section learning about Adobe Camera RAW and how to utilize it.  The instructor was talking about using the straighten tool or crop tool and how it is not destructive to the image at all.  He says to click on either tool and then hit the ESC key to revert the changes that you made.  However, when I do this, it exits me out of Adobe Camera RAW all together.  I thought initially that it might be because I was in full screen mode, but i hit the F key and tried it again with the same outcome.
What am I doing wrong?  How do I fix this?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
If you open an image in camera raw, draw out the crop tool and then press the Esc key, what happens?
I just messed with it further tonight.  It looks like it is working correctly with the 'Crop' tool.  However, it is not working correct with the Straighten tool.  I use the straighten tool, click enter to straighten the image.  If the image does not look correct to me, I click on the straighten tool again and hit the ESC key to revert it back to the original.  As soon as I hit the ESC key (while clicked on the straighten tool) it closes out of Adobe Camera RAW and goes back to Adobe Bridge.
Which operating system are you using?
    I am using OS X 10.10.1 (Yosemite)
Which version of camera raw are you using?
I am on Adobe Camera RAW Ver. 6.7
Both Photoshop and Bridge are CS5.1
You can see the version listed at the top of the camera raw dialog when not in full screen mode.
