Camera Raw thumbnail views

I have CS3 and had to re-download Camera Raw 4.6.  Everything works but I can't get thumbnail view on Bridge or Windows explorer therefore I have no preview.  I do have thumbnail view selected.  Any help?

You can try to purge the Thumbnail cache by doing the following:
Choose Edit > Preferences (Windows) or Bridge > Preferences (Mac OS).
Select the Cache panel.
Click Purge Cache.
If same issue, try to reset Bridge Preferences:
> Follow Step 1 mentioned under this article : http://helpx.adobe.com/bridge/kb/troubleshoot-errors-freezes-bridge-wi ndows.html--Same step works for both MAC and Windows.
> Launch Bridge again and check if it works fine now.

  • Bridge showing generic Camera Raw thumbnails

Hi! I'm having trouble getting my Adobe Bridge to show the thumbnails for my camera raw files. I'm using Bridge 5.1, updated Raw plug in, as well as followed everything from this site Generic icons | Camera raw files | Adobe Bridge - to no avail. I'm using Camera Raw version 6.7.0.339.
I'm shooting with a Nikon D7100 (which is in the supported list of Camera Raw) and I'm running a Macbook Pro on OS X Yosemite version 10.10.
Attached is a screen shot of my plug in folder. If I need to show anything else to help diagnose this problem, please let me know! I just started shooting in Raw and I LOVE It, but hate not being able to see my thumbnails. .jpg's show just fine in Bridge.
Thank you so much for your help,
    Jordan

DNG = Digital NeGative.  New camera support requires new profiles.  In this situation a DNG is Adobe’s combination of the original raw data and newer camera profiles, so that older ACR plug-ins can then use to decode the data.
The DNG Converter is available at the Downloads / Updates link I gave, earlier.  Download and install it, then run it on a folder of NEFs and convert that folder to DNGs.  Those DNGs will then be visible in the older Bridge/ACR.
You can get PS-CC for $10/month with the Photography Plan and it would be a pretty tight budget that can’t afford that, but ok:

  • Camera Raw and Photoshop fluctuations

When I open a JPG from Camera Raw and view it in Photoshop I'm noticing that the Photoshop version, viewed at 100%, is slightly darker, viewed side-by-side, than the preview in Camera Raw, also at 100%. Both in the same color space (sRGB).
Interestingly, when I changed the color settings in Photoshop to Adobe RGB and then reprocessed the photo in Camera Raw as an Adobe RGB file and then opened it in Photoshop, the side-by-side comparison shows the Photoshop version as slightly lighter, not darker, than the version shown in the preview window in Camera Raw. Both also at 100%.
Any thoughts on the subject would be very much appreciated. Thank you. Tom

Both Camera Raw and Photoshop are using your display profile to make the image preview. If the two don't match (everything matches on my displays) I suspect your display profile is less than optimal.

  • Why the colors look so different betweet my Camera Raw and Bridge?

We know that after editing images in Camera Raw, thumbnails in Bridge will updated according to the new xmp files.
However, for some of my Raw files, the colors look very different in Bridge after makeing adjustments in Camera Raw, I can see more red in those phoots. But when I reopen the file in Camera Raw, all the colors are just correct.
For those photos without applying xmp files the colors looks exactly the same in Camera Raw and Bridge.
Does this means that my Camera Raw and Bridge use different color space? How can I fix this problem? Thank you

If you want help, you need to specify your platform (Mac or Windows), the exact versions of your Operating System, Photoshop, ACR plug-in and Bridge.
Also look at your Bridge preferences and tell us what you have your Thumbnail preferences set to.
Re-setting your preferences and purging the cache would also help.  It could be something as simple as a corrupt cache.
Bridge is Color Managed, but it does not use a color space of its own.  It applies the color space with which each image is tagged, it assigns sRGB to untagged files.
When was the last time you calibrated and profiled your monitor?
    Details would help.

  • Setting Preferences in Camera RAW?

Can you tell me where to set this preference in Camera RAW, please?  This note is from the Lightroom 4 ReadMe.  Sory for being stupid, but I can't seem to fine prefs for "Camera RAW."
Viewing Lightroom settings in Camera Raw
Before working in conjunction with Lightroom and Camera Raw please set the Camera Raw preference to: Save image settings in: Sidecar ".xmp" files. By default Camera Raw will display the image adjustments exactly as performed in Lightroom‟s develop module.
    Thanks,
    ken

I have the same workflow, but I don't do anything! I don't use xmp sidecars, and LR simply transfers the raw file with whatever develop settings it has in its catalog to CS5, CS6 or Elements11. I just use whatever default settings the programs have for this, and my develop settings get transferred just fine.

  • Thumbnails not showing Camera RAW edits

I have Photoshop CS5 loaded on my lap top and my desk top.  When viewing images in Bridge 4.0.5.11 that were edited in Camera RAW 6.7 I see the edited thumbnails of all edited imagers on my lab top.  On the desk top, I see the unedited thumbnail and have to right click and select "Generate High Quality Thumbnail" for each image to see the changes made in Camera RAW.  Why is the program working differntly on each computer?

I was on Adobe's help chat for 2 hours yesterday and they could not figure this out.
    This is really unbelievable.

  • Viewing Raw thumbnails in Bridge

I've just installed the trial version of Elements 8 on my Imac (Mac OS X version 10.6.3). I come from the PC world, so I'm kind of new at the MACs.
I shoot RAW files with my Nikon D5000.
When I upload them into Bridge, I can't see their thumbnails. I've checked my RAW preferences and it's 5.0, which I believe is the wrong version.
So I followed the upload directions to to upload the latest version of RAW. When that completed I had a folder called AdobeCameraRaw -6.1 with 2 folders in it: AdobePatchinstaller and payloads. Neither of which do anything, nor do they match the instructions that came with the upload.
When I click on the AdobePatchinstaller I get a error message that I need Adobe Application Manager, but I have no idea what that is or where to get it.
Does anyone know about updating your RAW viewer?
    Thanks,
    Howard

    Go to http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/
Change the drop-down up top to Camera RAW - Macintosh and Go
Click on the ACR 5.7 link.
On the page that comes up there is a download and instructions for various products including PSE 8.

  • Camera Raw icons don't display as thumbnails

New Canon T3i; I download files from camera to folder; the display as generic icon "CR2" in big blue letters, file is a page with camera lens staring at me. Previous camera Canon G11 worked fine; that is, transfer pics from camera, and without any processing the file icons display as thumbnails, if I have the View settings correct. Apple says its Canon's EOS Utility, not creating the thumbnail, whereas its CameraWindow for my G11 did. But; I was able to also transfer files from Camera to a folder via Adobe Bridge CS5, and it too didnt create thumbnails. So I'm ruling out Canon's file transfer software somewhat.
Canon says it's Apple, they need to update their OS. I pointed out that their Camera Raw Updater is only for Aperture & Iphoto and wont install any codec or driver specific to the OS. I can open the Raw files fine with Photoshop or Bridge CS5, and if I save file as a PSD, Tiff, or Jpeg, the Icon displays as a thumbnail. But I shouldnt have to process the files to display the icon as a thumbnail; if my G11 an do it, then a better camera ought to be able to do it too.
So who's not allowing the display of file thumbnails; Apple or Canon ?

    Jim + Jeff,
Thanks for the clarification. I know that in Bridge you can choose to sort files by pretty much whatever you want. It just seemed odd that if you just open files directly in PS (as far as I can tell) there's no way to adjust the order in which they display.
Oh well, if Bridge is the answer, then Bridge is the answer.
    Thanks.

  • Windows Explorer Thumbnail View and 7D Mark II RAW Files

I am running latest version of PhotoShop CC on Windows 8.1 Toshiba laptop. Prior to purchasing my Canon 7D Mark II, I could view Canon RAW files as photo thumbnails in Windows Explorer. Since upgrading cameras, I get generic thumbnails when I view a folder full of RAW files from the 7D Mark II. Is there a fix? I use Irfanview as a general file viewer and Adobe Camera RAW to open files in PhotoShop, but I seriously miss the ability to find a specific photo quickly in Windows Explorer.

    Hi billyray1usa ,
may I suggest that you try to use Bridge to view and navigate between the thumbnails with the possibility of having the large preview of each image in more than Adobe Bridge updates with PS and Camera Raw.

  • Need to view RAW thumbnails from Canon 7D MK II.  Using Elements 13.

Has Adobe released codex for viewing raw thumbnails from new Canon 7D MKII?  When I call Canon, they suggested contacted Adobe.

There was a new update released yesterday called Camera Raw 8.7.1.  If you haven't updated yours then it is worth a try but your particular camera wasn't mentioned in their blog.
    <Camera Raw 8.7.1 is now available>
    Good luck.

  • Is there any way to make thumbnails bigger in Camera Raw?

When I open raw files in Camera Raw the thumbnails are absolutely tiny - about 9 thumbnails across my screen - ie. too small to see properly if they are good to open. I've googled and searched, and I don't think there is any way to change the size, but just thought I'd check on here.

    SophieCarrPhoto wrote:
I can now see how you I can change the thumbnail size in the Organizer, and then open them in ACR from there, so that's helpful, but I still have to import the images, don't I?
Yes, that's how Elements and Lightroom, and Aperture, and many other database management systems do work. You do not 'import' files, I would rather say that you 'register' files in a database (catalog).
Imagine you are in charge of a paintings museum and you want to edit a catalog for visitors. When you get new masterpieces, you enter all the details : painter, date, canvas size, biography elements and the room in which it is displayed. For easier  search, you include a small reproduction of the painting in the booklet you give the visitors. That's it.
    - You might think it's more work ? The downloader makes this 'registration' for you.
    - Is it slower ? No, since the files are not duplicated, 'registering' = 'getting photos and videos' from 'files or folders' or from 'camera or card reader' only means reading the files header. Very quick for tens of thousands of images. You can tell the downloader to download everything in your 'Pictures' master folder or be more selective.
    - If you are going to add keywords, captions, ratings, if you want to keep track of originals and derivatives in version sets, no other folder based system can compete in power and speed for retrieval and grouping.
    - You don't need to 'register' all your photos. You can do so only for a given project, such as a travel session : slideshow, web extracts, printed book...
    - The organizer helps you for backups, which is very important.
    - If you are concerned about keeping your own folder tree, do it from the organizer 'Folder' view. It offers the same tools and look as the explorer / finder, but it keeps the database updated of all the changes you are doing in the structure : moving, deleting or renaming.

  • No longer able to view NEF files in Bridge or edit in Camera Raw 4.6

I have found similar questions in various Adobe forums, but I have not located a solution to my problem.
    Bridge CS3
    Photoshop CS3 Extended
    XP
    Camera Raw version 4.6.0.30
    Nikon D300s
Up until 2 weeks ago I have been copying my NEF files from my CF card via reader, opening Bridge, selecting thumbnail of NEF and opening it in Photoshop CS3. At which point I can process with Camera Raw 4.6.
Now, once new NEF files copied and Bridge opened, I only see NEF icons. When I double click the file, Photoshop opens and a box appears with the following text: Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document.
Upon inspecting the differences between NEF files that I can edit and the new NEF files that I cannot, I notice in the metadata file properties that the application of the successful files is ver. 2.00 and the duds is ver. 1.00.
What "application" is the metadata referring to? I think this may be a Nikon setting, but it would help me understand the problem better if I knew what "application" this is.
I can convert the new NEF files into jpgs using Adobe DNG Converter, but this GREATLY complicates a previously straightforward work flow process.
Thank you for any light that may be shed on vexing dilemma,
    Kate

Very grateful for your response and time.
The Application I am talking about can be found when you open up a NEF file in Bridge and look at the Metadata tab on the right. Within that is the File Properties tab and the Application Ver. is the 3rd item from the top (after Filename and Document Type).
Yes, I do have only the one ACR file (Camera Raw.8bi.) in the program file/COMMON FILE/Adobe/plug ins/cs3/file formats.
I have also realized (brilliantly late in the game) that it is only the NEF files shot from my new D300s that do not work. No problem with the NEF files shot with my D100. So this leads me to conclude that my Bridge/Photoshop CS3 does not support the Camera Raw 5 that seems to be required for the D300s. Argh.
By upgrading my camera equipment, I have outmoded my requisite software.
I must say, that the recent post advisory on the forum site ("Raw files appear as icons") was supremely timely. While this does not solve my problem, it did help me understand the compatibility issues with the D300s and CS3. I have learned the following: D300s are supported by Camera Raw 5.5 which does not work with CS3. Is this correct?
    Dazed, but not beaten down,

  • How to view previous state in Camera Raw?

In Photoshop, all of the various image adjustments allow the user to view the previous state of the image, after the sliders are moved. This is very helpful while editing an image. However, I can find no similar ability in Adobe Camera Raw. Is there a way to quickly compare the "before" and "after" of  images while editing them in Camera Raw? If so, how?  Thank you for your help.

  • Can not open Camera Raw in Bridge CS4, or see thumbnails

    MacBook Pro
    OS 10.5.5
    Photo Shop CS4 version 11
    Camera Raw 5.2.0.65
I had another version of Camera Raw from PS3. When I bought the Canon EOS 5D Mark II, I deleted the old camera raw plug in, so as to not conflict with the new camera raw plug in.
When I open PS4, click Photoshop, click about plug in, ONLY one version of Camera Raw comes up.
In OS 10, when I click GO at the top, then applications, then Adobe Photoshop CS4, then Plug Ins, then File Formats, I get two Camera Raw icons: a blue lego like icon that says "Camera Raw.plugin" and another icon that looks like the Macintosh HD icon, but is labeled "CameraProfiles.dmg"
The problem is that I can't open files in Camera Raw when in Bridge CS4, nor can I see the little photo thumbnails either.
    Can someone please help?

I am having some huge problems with my colorspace settings. Every time I upload my raw files from my Canon 5D mark II or 6D the pics are perfect in color. That includes the back of my camera, the pic viewer on my macbook pro, and previews. They even look normal when I first open them in photoshop. I will edit, save, and then realize once i've sent it to myself to test the color is WAY off. This only happens in photoshop. I've read some forums and have tried different things, but it seems to be making it worse. PLEASE HELP! Even viewing the saved image on the mac's pic viewer is way off once i've edited in photoshop. I am having to adjust all my colors by emailing myself to test. Its just getting ridiculous.

Check the color space in camera raw, the options are in the link at the bottom of the dialog box. Then when saving make sure you save it to the srgb color space when sending to others. Not all programs understand color space and or will default to srgb. That won't necessarily mean it will be accurate, but it will put it in the ballpark. Using save for web will use the srgb color space.
