Camera Raw update on trial version of photoshop.
Getting very frustrated and wonder if any of you clever people out there could help me. I have Elements 8 and have just bought a EOS600D, elements can't open or show a thumbnail of the raw images.
So I downloaded the trial of photoshop CS5 thinking this would solve my problem, but no, and I can't seem to download the camera raw update to the trial version - does this seem right ?
So are you trying to locate a way to open your RAW images in Elements 8? Assuming the latest version of Camera Raw supports your camera you can utilize the DNG converter to convert your RAW files to DMGs and then open those in Photoshop Elements. You can find the DNG converter at http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Windows.

Camera raw update won't install in Photoshop CS5
What can I do about this? I have Windows 8.1 and this is the only program which won't update in it.
HanochThe last version supported by CS5 is Camera Raw 6.7.1. You can download and install it manually.
If you need more recent, you should upgrade CS, use Lightroom, or use the free DNG Converter (8.4 is the latest official release).
All is explained here: http://yphotography.co.uk/articles/get-adobe-camera-raw-acr-open-photos/ -
Camera RAW update for EOS 7D on Photoshop Elements 7?
I think I saw 5.6 but only works on the 8.0 version, do they have one for version 7?
Yes, the 5.6 camera raw plugin works in elements 7.
It's the latest one that will work.
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4626
At the top of the page it says elements 8, but it works in 7.

Two problems which have defeated me.
First, I have a new Canon EOS 500D and need to download the recent (July 2010) CS5 Camera Raw update. However both of my computers freeze when I move from the Adobe Support web page to the Download web page. Is this a known problem? What to do about it? I am using CS 5 on a Windows 2007 XP computer.
Second, (probably related to the first) opening a file in Photoshop is not listed among Bridge's "OPEN AS" options. Also, the "OPEN" Default is "PAINT". How do I set Photoshop as the "OPEN" menu default?
Thanks for your suggestions. I am truly befuddled by these issues.
JackIsaacSounds like something is really wrong with your computer, and it isn't clear what, but if you're just having issues getting to the download link for ACR:
Here is the download page for ACR 6.1 update:
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4728
Here is the download page for the CS5 12.0.1 update:
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4733
If those links don't work, you can probably find the same updates on the FTP site, although some things here are more than a decade old:
ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/photoshop/
See if Bridge and ACR are any happier after installing these two updates. Make sure you run them as Administrator.
If those still don't work for you, try another browser, where Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Google Chrome should all work.
http://www.microsoft.com/ie
http://www.firefox.com/
http://www.google.com/chrome
There are numerous other browsers, as well, but they probably won't work if the above three don't.
Perhaps you either have a virus that you should scan for, or over-zealous internet-protection software that you could try disabling temporarily.
My favorite free virus/malware scanner is from www.MalwareBytes.com
The payfor version will automatically update itself and scan, but the free version works just as well except you have to manually update and scan. -
Please Help? Having trouble opening camera raw files. Already downloaded Camera Raw update. I have a pc.
If the camera is fairly new then the version of ACR you have with CS5 won't be able to read those file. You'll need to upgrade to a newer version of Photoshop or use Lightroom 5.
Once a new version of Photoshop comes out Adobe does not support updating ACR from the older version of PS. -
Does anyone know how i can update camera raw 6 to camera raw 8.1? When working in lightroom 5, when i ctrl-e to edit in photoshop, i get a dialog box saying i need camera raw 8.1. I have photoshop cs5, windows 7, 64 bit, camera raw 6. I dont have creative cloud. Ive tried installing adobe updater, but just get redirected to CC. Any ideas where/how I can get camera raw 8.1? Thank you.
Photoshop CS5 is only compatible with Camera Raw up to version 6.7
http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
Camera Raw 8.1 is only compatible with CS6+ (including CC). 8.1 is not compatible with CS5.

Why can't I open my RAW files in my trial version of Photoshop Lightroom 4?
Why can't I open my RAW files in my trial version of Photoshop Lightroom 4? I use a Canon 5d mark II, which is supposed to be supported, and I checked for updates, but none were found.
You cannot open files directly with Lr.
You have to import them.

Photoshop CS 3 camera raw update
Using CS6. But after devativating my old CS3 and reinstall it on another computor, cannot get any update. I understand there will be no updates for older versions of Photoshop, but how can I get back the last version of Camera Raw that was available to CS 3. The Camera Raw version is 4.0, and before uninstalling it was a much higher version. Thanks!
Yes, you DID NOT read the instructions carefully like I admonished you to do.
I even gave you the specific link to the ACR 4.6 download for Windows where the instructions are:
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4040
I will now paste the installation instructions from that page below. Please do not bother to respond or otherwise post at all unless and until you read these instructions carefully and follow them to the letter:
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
Installation Instructions
After downloading a ".zip" file, use the operating system or a utility such as WinZip or PKZIP to access the file's contents.
Manual installation on Windows®:
1. Exit Photoshop CS3 and Adobe Bridge.
2. Open My Computer.
3. Double-click Local Disk (C:).
4. Navigate to: (Please read directory carefully)
Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats
5. Move the existing Camera Raw.8bi plug-in to another location (for example, a new folder on your desktop). Ensure you keep this version in case you need to revert back.
6. Copy the Camera Raw plug-in, Camera Raw.8bi, from the download into the same folder as Step 4.
7. Launch Photoshop CS3 or Adobe Bridge.
Again, here's the correct directory path, now in maroon type:
C: Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS3\File Formats
DO NOT look at the Plug-ins folder (directory) inside the Photoshop folder (directory). -

does anyone know? Adobe just told me they don't support 5.5 or 6 through phone or chat. (and I thought time warner customer service was bad)
I'm on a mac, 10.6.8 snow leopard.
Other than this camera raw update not working, everything else is working fine.
thanks for any help.

Horse & Buggy PressI am not sure that you will be able to. XP-64 was never supported in any version of PrPro. Some got later versions to run, but most usually had some issues.
You might do some research on DirectX, to see which versions were supported by XP-64. That OS, though providing beta-testing for 64-bit OS's to come, was essentially an evolutionary dead-end. It was completely replaced with Vista-64. Again, some users had issues with Vista-64 and later versions of PrPro, than yours. You might have better luck, trying Win7-64, but that is just a guess.
Good luck,

As I mentioned, there is an error while trying to update photoshop, camera raw, etc. I receives message when you try to download the update, an error occurred. Exit and try again later.
What to do? Without Camera Raw update I can't open Raw files from my cameras. Guy from chat on adobe website just give me link for support website, it's ridiculous.abdzi schrieb:
Hi,
Finally I made an update. I used download files from Adobe update pages (the same websites that were offline for few days), I couldn't do it automatically from PS CS5 application. Last problem is Adobe Extension update, can't do it automatically and manually becouse there are no update files for Adobe Extension CS5 for Windows (only for Mac). Most important is that my Camera Raw can open files from my cameras now. Thank You for your help.
Hey abdzi could you give a short explanation were you found which download files?? I have the same problem and realy need the Camera Raw update. Please!! Thank you -
I just did the photoshop camera raw update and now every time I try to do a text box or change the text the whole program crashes.
All fixed!!! My Aperture wasn't being recognized because it was in a folder. OK, now I can use my camera with Aperture.

Photoshop 12.0 Camera Raw Updates never download. Any ideas?
Trying to download the Camera Raw update for Photoshop 12.0. No matter how many times I quit and re-try, the updates download but never complete the installation process. This is common to all my Adobe products, so I'm guessing it's the updater. In the progress bar I can see the downloads taking place, but at the end of the process the updater gives me the message> " [product name]. There was an error downloading this update. Please quit and try again later.
No amount of quitting and restarting etc has any impact.
I would prefer not to have to uninstall lightroom etc so I've held off doing that in the hopes there's an easier way.
Is this just me or do others have this problem too?
Photoshop 12.0
iMac early 2014 3.4Ghz, 8GB RAM, OS 10.9.5.I’d suggest posting this sort of issue in the Downloading and Installing forum: https://forums.adobe.com/community/download_install_setup
I’ve seen Adobe support people respond to things in that forum during daylight hours in the US, or you might try just starting a Chat session indicating you’re having issues installing Elements (or maybe Photoshop) by going to adobe.com, clicking on Menu then choosing Learn and Support and jump through the hoops to narrow down what you’re having an issue with, then click Still Need Help and choose Chat.
The Adobe Camera Raw forum is for the PS plug-in and perhaps general raw-decoding questions not specific to a product.
Not for either Lightroom or “Photoshop 12” issues. By “Photoshop 12” do you mean Photoshop Elements 12 (PSE12) or Photoshop CS5 which is also known as Photoshop 12? -
help!!! i can't switch from lightroom to photoshop cs5 because it won't read and i need a camera raw update..when will this update be available??
Moving this discussion to the Photoshop General Discussion forum.
Beccaellison as an alternative you may want to consider posting your inquiry to the Photoshop Lightroom forum at Photoshop Lightroom. -
