Camera raw update problem loaded on cs6 32bit but not the default 64bit.

Hi to all.
Can you help?  I recently updated to 8.8 camera raw after buying a new camera and there was a problem with the installation.  It told me that there was a problem writing to cs6.  I clicked ignore an the installation completed.  The problem is that it has updated to the 32bit version but still shows 7.1 on the 64bit (default).  I am running on windows 7 64 bit.  Any hel[p with a solution would be appreciated.
Thanks
Update
I did a bit more research on the forum and found a discussion referring to pse which gave instruction to open the archive on the camera raw exe. file and manually copy the 8bi files into the correct location in the C drive eg:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS6\File Formats
C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC\File Formats    and
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CC\File Formats
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Plug-Ins\CS6\File Formats
Wait for it this didn't work and completely removed camera raw from the about plugin menu on ps6 64 bit.  It worked on cs6 32 bit.
The solution was to then reinstall the plugin via the installation .exe file and all was back as it should be.   The only problen now is that adobe bridge has the camera raw preferences greyed out.....I am working on a fix for this and will post if I find it.  I hope this helps someone.

Hi Michelle
I am new to the forum so I apologise.  I should have mentioned in my update that the installer that fixed the problem was the ACR 9.0.  I had originally used the 8.8 installer which caused the problem from ACR 7.1.
Initially the installer didn't work  64 bit version still had 7.1 but it installed ACR 9.0 on the 32 bit.  I then proceeded to manually unzip the exe file ACR 9.0 and coped the 8bi file to the locations stated in my update.  This didn't affect the 32 bit cs6 but completely removed ACR from the 64 bit.  I re ran the ACR 9.0.exe file and everything was fixed.
I hope that this makes sense.  I have now developed a problem on Bridge though.  I can open raw file in photoshop but I can't view previews and the camera raw preferences are greyed out.  I have read elsewhere that other people have had the same problem.

  • Camera RAW update issue with Bridge CS6

    Hi folks,
    I recently installed a routine update for Camera RAW 8.4 and now have a bunch of issues with Bridge including -
    - No previews or ratings showing
    - Ratings filter not working
    - Can't open images directly into Camera RAW without first opening Photoshop (ie - keyboard shortcut not working and File menu command "Open in Camera raw" not available)
    - Can't access or open Camera RAW preferences
    I've tried resetting Bridge to default settings but didn't help and ACR still works fine opening in PS. I've attached two screenshots to show the problem better.
    Anyone else having these problems? Any solutions?

  • Camera Raw update in Adobe Photoshop CS6

    Hello,
    I have installed the Adobe Creative Suite 6 Version there is Photoshop CS6 included.
    Now I need to update the Camera Raw. I have downloaded the Version 8.3, which is compatible with Adobe Photoshop CS6.
    The installation don´t disable any errors but if I open the Adobe Photoshop CS6 and check with version is installed. I always see 7.0 Camera Raw is installed.
    The update of the camera raw is not installed.
    What can I do to resolve this problem. I cannot not open some files, I need that update.
    Thanks in advance.

    If your not using windows xp, vista or mac os x 10.6, then try the below updater for camera raw 8.6

  • Camera Raw update problem

    I have tried six times to upgrade Camera Raw via the "Help" menu in CS5.  Each time it seems to download, but it always gives me an error message stating that there was a problem with the installation.  I am trying to open .rw2 files from my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ200 camera. and my current version of Camera Raw will not accept them.

    Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
    Camera Raw-compatible Adobe applications
    The FZ200 was first supported by Camera Raw 7.2 which is only compatible with CS6 and later.
    CS5 is only compatible with Camera Raw up to version 6.7. So there is no version of Camera Raw for CS5 which will open Raw FZ200 files.
    Options:
    Join the Cloud
    Upgrade to CS6
    Free option: download the free Adobe DNG converter, convert all FZ200 Raw files to DNG format then open the DNGs in CS5.

  • Camera Raw Update Problem: how to open Fuji X-E2 Raw files in CS5?

    I just purchased a Fuji Xe2 but my .RAF files are not compatible with my CS5's version of Camera Raw (6.7).  I have tried to go through the Help menu to update but it states my product is up to date. I tried to manually download and install but I just get an error message.  How do I fix this?

    The X-E2 was first supported by Camera Raw 8.3 which is only compatible with CS6, CC and later.
    It will never be backward compatible with earlier versions so you won't be able to open XE-2 Raw files in CS5.
    Some options:
    Upgrade to CS6

    Download the free Adobe DNG converter, convert all X-E2 Raw files to DNGs then edit the DNGs in CS5.

  • Camera Raw noise problem in Photoshop CS6

    Opening a Canon .CR2 in Photoshop CS6, Camera Raw generates a significant amount of noise or graininess in the image compared with the simultaneously saved .JPG file.  This results in the image from the raw file being of reduced quality.  I never had this problem using Photoshop CS5.
    Is this the result of some setting being turned on?  If so, I have been unable to figure out which one.  The only other possibility is that there is a severe flaw in the latest version of the Camera Raw plugin.
    Can anyone out there shed any light on this?

    You're using a raw converter to increase your access to more control.  Among the controls you now have at your disposal are color and luminance noise reduction.
    The thing is, what you'll want to do is to develop a set of Camera Raw Defaults that start your conversions off as you would like, then save that default so it pre-sets all the controls for each new image you open.  In my case, I have a fair bit of noise reduction dialed-in by default for my Canon EOS-40D images.
    You may also want to turn down the default sharpening, which will bring up noise in itself.  I've done that as well, as you can see.

    I think the latest software updates seem to have affected all cameras in aperture. After installing them on friday, I could not import images from Canon 1DsMk11, 1DMk11, and D5. Cured the problem by reinstalling previous Camera Raw as suggested, thanks for that!

  • Trouble changing Camera RAW settings in Javascript (worked in CS5, but not CS6)

    I just upgraded to Master Collection CS6 from Production Premium CS5, and CameraRAWOpenOptions settings in scripts that I had working in Photoshop CS5 (64-bit) using Extendscript CS5 are no longer working with Photoshop CS6.  I get no error messages, but the settings I specify in the scripts (for example, CameraRAWOpenOptions.exposure=2.00) do not take effect when the image is opened.  Other Photoshop properties and actions within my script are working correctly.
    Note that this is an issue in Photoshop CS6.  I can use Extendscript CS5 or CS6, and the result is the same.
    Here is the way I am changing the settings in my script:
    var RawOptions = new CameraRAWOpenOptions;
    //RawOptions.settings=CameraRAWSettingsType.CUSTOM;
    //RawOptions.settings=CameraRAWSettingsType.SELECTEDIMAGE;
    RawOptions.settings=CameraRAWSettingsType.CAMERA;
    RawOptions.exposure=+2.00;
    RawOptions.vignettingAmount = 0;
    RawOptions.vignettingMidpoint = 0;
    RawOptions.contrast = 50;
    RawOptions.saturation = 0;
    RawOptions.shadows = 0;
    RawOptions.luminanceSmoothing = 0;
    var JPGopts = new JPEGSaveOptions;
    JPGopts.quality = JPEGquality;
    //Perform the loop through the files
    app.open(testListing[0], RawOptions, false);
    app.activeDocument.close(SaveOptions.DONOTSAVECHANGES);
    for (var nfile = nstart; nfile < nstop; nfile++)
        app.open(testListing[nfile], RawOptions, false);
        FnameSave = new File(SavePath+"/"+testListing[nfile].name);
        app.activeDocument.saveAs(FnameSave, JPGopts, false, Extension.UPPERCASE);
        app.activeDocument.close(SaveOptions.DONOTSAVECHANGES);

    I found a few of them actually work.
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.tint=0; // works (-150 to 150)
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.temperature=5500; // works (2000 to 50000)
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.luminanceSmoothing = 0; // works 0 to 100
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.saturation=50; // works =100 to 100
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.vignettingAmount=0; //works -100 to 100
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.vignettingMidpoint=0; //works -100 to 100
    These ones do not work:
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.brightness=0; // does not work (0 to 150)
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.contrast=0; // does not work (-50 to 100)
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.exposure = 0; // does not work (-4.0 to +4.0)
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.shadows=0; // (0 to 100) does not work
    CameraRAWOpenOptions.whiteBalance=WhiteBalanceType.SHADE; // does not work
    I noticed that, doing File-->File Info--> "Advanced" tab-->expand "Camera Raw Properties" that the ones that do not work have mostly either been removed (brightness) or had "2012" added to their names in the XMP in the conversion from CS5 to CS6.
    It appears the mapping from Javascript objects/properties to how Photoshop knows them is broken with the new version.  Is there any way to fix this?
    Is there an alternate way to do this by going through XMP?
    Unfortunately, I'm wanting to use "exposure", which is one of the ones that is broken.  My main script sets a custom exposure for each image (trying to smooth out EV jumps between successive images in a sunset time lapse).

  • Home sharing library loads on one computer but not the other

    I have turned on Home Sharing (using the same account for both) on two computers. One of them loads the other's library, but the other either continually says it is attempting to load, or immediately reverts back to the normal Music library screen.
    I have spent several hours searching the Internet to find suggestions but nothing seems to be working:
    I have downloaded the newest version of iTunes
    I have tried setting up a new account, de-authorising the computer on all accounts except the new one
    I have turned off the sharing located under the Preferences tab
    I have made sure that iTunes is not blocked by a firewall
    I have checked that the Bonjour service is running
    I have tried turning everything off and starting all over again
    I would welcome a new solution! Thank you!

    It could be a firewall issue. Try disabling the firewall and see if that helps.

    Try the easiest way first:  simply select the Updates menu item in Photoshop's Help menu.
    You want to be on version 6.7 of Camera Raw.
    If for some reason the auto updater fails, you can download the updated plug-in and install it yourself by following the instructions on the download page, here:

  • CS4 and Yosemite, Camera Raw update

    I bought a new apple macbook with Yosemite, I installed Adobe CS4.
    All good so far.
    But when i wanted to install the Camera Raw update Adobe refused.
    How can I install the newest Camera Raw?

    You can't. The last version of Camera Raw supported by CS4 was 5.7, which is still worth having.
    Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Macintosh
    You can use the latest version of DNG Converter. Set its Compatibility preference to Camera Raw 5.4 and later, and duplicate folders of raw files to DNG files, which can be opened by Camera Raw 5.7 running on CS4.
