Camera Roll image order?

How can I have my photos in the camera roll show what I recently just took at the top of the roll instead of at the bottom? basically the order show newest taken to oldest photos instead of oldest to newest and having to scroll all the way to the bottom to see the photos I just took.
Thanks!

I know of no way to do this. You should be importing camera roll pics to your computer on a regular basis ( and backing them up from there). Why not just make albums/folders from the pics and syncing them back to the iphone from your computer.

• Iphone 5 cant open text pics, have to save to camera roll in order to open

When I receive a text message with a picture in it, I can see the tiny little picture while reading the text message, but when I push the picture to make it larger it doesnt open. I have to then save it to my camera roll in order to open it.

Why is there no reply? I thought Apple techs monitored these questions.

• Camera roll wrong order

the Camera Roll is all wrong of order. Photos taken last year are near the front, the photos I took yesterday are in the middle, and photos from a couple weeks ago are near the beginning.
What’s going on? How can I fix it?

This has happened to me to. I updated my phone to the latest iOS last night and I've got all my videos and any photo's I've airdropped from my wife showing up in my collections as taken to today... so frustrating!!!

• Problems in accessing Camera Roll images using HTML 5 technology

Hello,
I have developed a application using HTML 5 technology. This application is supportable to iPhone 4S. In this application, if we try to upload an image from "Camera Roll" it's not returning properly. The result image is rotated, squeezed and in different format. But this is working perfectly if we upload the image from other folders like Photo Stream.
No idea why the images from Camera Roll is not returning in proper format.
Your help and support is much appreciated

Hi Abdul
I've looked at your app and really like the way it accesses Camera Roll - I would be interested in learning more about this project - is there any way I can get in touch with you? Do you have another web site ?

• Camera Roll Images on Photostream?

i seem to be endlessly perplexed by photostream.
does anyone know if images i take on my iPhone that are stored in CAMERA ROLL supposed to be seen on my computers or on my iPhone in "Photostream"? do i have to check a setting on my phone somewhere for this to happen? also, does this happen by Wifi or perhaps via my Cellular signal or both?
i am running Mavericks on the MBP ML on the Mac Pro and Aperture on both.
thanks for any help.

hi randers.
thank you so much for the help.
i have been ignoring this issue for the better part of a year and i am finally sitting down to thrash through it so i can get this to work. in this case i think the issue is that i had to turn on Wifi.
i have been getting help with the Aperture Settings in the last couple of days and these are a real beast. i wish they would at least make a half attempt to document the settings, /name/ them in some consistent way and to minimize the number of places i can set something related to the cloud sync/storage functionality. it has been such a nightmare since the days of MobileMe.
for instance -irrespective of corruption issues in MobileMe in particular - not only can i set something in Aperture on my MBP and my Mac Pro and my iPhone but i can also set something related to Photos Sync in my iPhone (thanks for pointing this out) but i CANNOT set anything (apparently) related to photos in iCloud on the web. Also, even just the setting in APERTURE ITSELF has changed between ML and Mavericks with one saying "iCloud" and the other saying "Photos" or something or other. plus /none/ of the settings in Aperture have any documentation associated with them whatsoever (either within the UI or in an FAQ or online documentation).
ALSO, even just the icon for setting for Photostream in iOS6 is shown as the icon for VIEWING ALL PHOTOS on the iPhone even though i can download the iPhoto App for my iPhone (free) which also syncs to Photostream and which (apparently) has more robust functionality that the stock "Photo" App. i don't understand why mac developers or all people would not understand that making the switch in Settings for Photostream Sync On/Off the /same/ icon as the APPLICATION on the iPhone that handles all photos (irrespective of whether photostream is on or off) is uber confusing. i did have it on but just saying "Photos" and a switch does not clue me in to the fact that this is related to Photostream.
not to complain but i am guesing that there are half a dozen different names for the settings for Photostream sync between mountain lion and mavericks just between my computers and my iPhone.
and - actually - NOT having an option to check for photostream in iCloud actually makes it a lot easier to understand how to manage this sync. i can just turn it on or off for my various devices and leave it at that...
anyway, i spent about four days reading and troubleshooting related issues (non-photostream photos showing up in photostream on my iPhone and photostream photos on my iPhone not showing up elsewhere) so it is a BIG relief to get this more under control.
THANK YOU

• Why have all of my camera roll images suddenly turned to a blank grey screen that says jpg in the middle?

all of my photos in my camera roll suddenly turned to blank grey screens the other day and they all say jpg in the middle of them, i did nothing for this to happen so can't understand why it has. I literally went on my camera roll and they all started changing as i scrolled up. Can anybody tell me why it has done this and what i can do to get all of my pictures back?
thankyou.

Here's what I'd try (starting at 1 and if it doesn't work, then 2);
1. Try opening the images (try taking a picture and see if that opens also)
2. Try plugging it into computer, check if you can view the photos on that
3. Check when the last backup was made (hopefully it was recent) and restore from that
4. Try an alternative itunes manager like copytrans and see can you get access to the images with that

• Copy photos back into camera roll in order

Hi there, hope someone can help!
I copied a bunch of photos off from 2011 into iPhoto and deleted them from my phone, however I would like to put them back in but i'd like them to go in the camera roll back at the top so they are the first photos I took rather than the bottom. I tried copying them to the DCIM folder but cannot write to that folder which is annoying!
Does anyone know how to do this?
Thanks

It has taken me four days trying to move photos back to my iPhone as well. I still haven't found a way. I know that the camera roll is a temporary storage tank. However, I use mostly my iPhone for editing and manipulating photos before I move them to iPhoto, sort them in folders and then sync them back.
My phone got stolen last week and the only thing I wasn't syncing to the iCloud were my photos as there were 7,800 of them. I have tried drop2roll and other apps that have been suggested by various users. Syncing folders via iTunes to the iPhone makes them read-only and does not allow deletion of photos. I really MUST have the original geo-location and date intact as I use the photos to upload to various apps and journals which require this information for appropriate entry creation.
Is there any way to do this guys or do I simply have to make the decision to sit down on my iMac, sort all these photos there first and then sync them back to my iPhone? Really frustrated here and tired of trying so many different things that haven't worked yet.

• How do I remove all images from my Camera Roll?

I connect my phone to an iMac and I cannot find an option to view and delete all of the Camera Roll images that have already been imported over many months. There are 1,500 images in the camera roll and I want to remove them all.
I realize that you can 'delete images from device' after you import new photos into iPhoto. These are older images that I don't want to delete one by one.
THANK YOU FOR THE HELP!

Open Photos, press the arrow button in the top right corner, tap all the photos you want to delete and press the delete button at the bottom. (You still have to tap all of them; there's no "delete all" button.)

• Deleted videos from iPhone, but Camera Roll is still 3.1GB

I have an iPad and iPhone and I'm using iCloud for backup on both. Error messages galore that I am maxed out of my 5GB free, so I removed all of the videos from my iPhone, what was most certainly the offending data source. From my iPhone when I look at the Settings>General>Usage>Manage Storage I have 2.2GB for the iPhone backup and 1.7GB for the iPad. When I go to Info for the iPhone, I see that the Camera Roll is 3.1GB (it also says next backup size is 3.1GB, although it hasn't backed that up b/c it's out of space; last backup for the iPhone was 11/27.) Everything else below Camera Roll is much smaller (Twitter 4.5MB, iBooks 3.5MB, etc.)
BUT...I currently have 153 photos and 2 videos (0:44secs & 0:15secs) on my iPhone. When I've removed the videos, I've trashed them manually on the iPhone so why does it keep saying I need 3.1GB? I used Image Capture to import the videos as needed b/c I hate the one-way aspect of iTunes controlling everything on my iPhone. I do have a full backup of both devices on my desktop Mac. To further fill in the blanks, it says I have 1.7GB on my iPad, but the iPad has only 53 photos and NO videos, yet it says the Camera Roll on that device is 1.1GB.
Help...thanks in advance!
Lee

Also, just to clarify, Photostream is only going for photos anyway, correct? No videos.
Yes, photostream only syncs photos to iCloud.
BUT...I currently have 153 photos and 2 videos (0:44secs & 0:15secs) on my iPhone. When I've removed the videos, I've trashed them manually on the iPhone so why does it keep saying I need 3.1GB?
The reason for this is probably because you only deleted 59 seconds worth of video which is not a lot. every 1GB (or gigabytes) is equal to 1,024MB (or megabytes).
3.1GB = 3174.4MB
What this means is your video files were so small in size, they did not remove enough data from your Camera Roll in order for it to make a difference.
1GB = 1,024MB / 10 = 102.4MB
every 10th of a gigbyte is 102.4MB so your video files were likely less than that size give or take which is why you do not see a reduction in the amount of storage you need.
Does this help answer your question?

• Is there a way to import iMessage pictures to laptop without saving them to camera roll?

I send all my pictures from my camera roll to iMessage as soon as I save them. I have over 1000 pictures on there. With out saving them to my camera roll again, is there a way to import them to my laptop? I can get my camera roll images onto my laptop, but not iMessage.I hope this makes sense.

Sorry, it doesn't make sense to me. Why would you want to send photos to iMessage that you have already saved to the camera roll and imported to your PC - just to send the same photos back to the PC again?

• Where are all the "DCIM" folders on iPhone? Everything not in Camera Roll.

I just finished stripping down all the DCIM folders accessible from a PC via Windows Explorer. I'm really looking for answers on the "how to", not "why it is" or "it just is that way" please.
The DCIM folders (mine [iPhone 5 w iOS 7.x] shows 5, naming convention is beyond me). These consist of the following...
Total files equals the total number of pictures/videos in Camera Roll.
- JPEGs (iPhone Created, iMSG Saved, or Moved (file xfr/emailed) to iPhone & Saved to Camera Roll),
- PNGs (screenshots)
- QuickTime Videos (iPhone Created & iMSG Saved to Camera Roll)
What is not accessible in the DCIM folder, but visible via Photos & Albums on the iPhone, are the following,
- Instagram
- Facebook
- User created folders, mine came from iTools
- Access to Albums created on the iPhone
* If I organized on the iPhone, why can't I access that organization via the DCIM folder?
What I know, if a file/image is in a user created folder, I cannot access it from Instagram. An image must exist in Camera Roll for Instagram to be able to access it... aka I have to save the file to Camera Roll.
iCloud & iTunes, are not answers to the question, "How do I access all otherwise PC-considered "DCIM" folders?" when the only access allowed is "My iPhone --> Internal Storage --> DCIM --> '5 Folders housing all Camera Roll images/videos"
As you can read, this is not a question "What is Camera Roll?", I just defined what it is above.
Thank you!

Maybe this will help you with a description of how iOS sorts photos. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4221.
As far as creating folders while in Camera Roll, the camera roll is not really designed to store photos on a long term basis, hense why if something happens to the iPhone, you lose your photos. It is designed for you to import the photos to the computer and do your organization there, and then sync the photos back to the device via iTunes. Then, should something happen to the iPhone, your photos are still safe on the computer. The ability to create folders and arrange photos through the Camera Roll is rather new. I'm not sure how it handles them, but earlier versions just put a "shortcut" so to speak in the folders you created, with the original file remaining in the Camera Roll. I'm not sure how that may have changed, but I am not sure how it handles these folders now. Seems you have discovered some of this by your comment on Instagram.
I do know that in Windows, and from what I have read it is the same on a Mac, you cannot use Explorer to put photos back into the Camera Roll. While you can read from the Camera Roll, you cannot write to it with the computer. Someone may be able to dispute that, but natively through Windows I can be sure that writing to the Camera Roll is not allowed.
Regarding your comment about the SD card, it is true, despite the fact the iPhone uses Flash memory, you cannot write to certain areas of the memory, and as I stated earlier, the Camera Roll is one of them. While it will save photos from the camera, and will also allow you to save photos from email, messages or other applications, it does not allow you to copy materials from the computer. This is the way Apple designed it.
I believe I read in your other post that someone suggested you use the feedback channel, but in case I was wrong, here it is. If you want Apple to see your comments, you need to post there, as they do not participate in the forum. The feedback link is www.apple.com/feedback and then click on the appropriate link.

• Camera roll, photo stream, libraries explained.

Anyone?
I have IPod's, touch and phones; IPad 2.
Just a quick tutorial, the online support docs has been read and still a little unclear and not that smart.
Is there a scenario in which Camera Roll images last more than a month?
Photo stream will last for 30 days on the devices (IPod's touch and phones; IPad 2) and then purge, correct?
On a Windows or Mac computer they are untouched by iOS activities?
If I create libraries, can they replicated across all these devices?Once I create a library, are they a camera or photo stream?
Can I keep my camera continually set to HDR?
If I am in the wrong discussion group, let me know that too.
Be kind, rewind,

Hi Pvonk and thanks for your clear response in the wake of my vague descriptions,
Correct I meant Photo Stream and not Camera Roll. Sorry.
I get it now. Thank you.
Yes. My original concern was this:
So, anything my friends and family with Apple ID's will be able to see on Photo Stream is one current months worth of photos from my devices. They will stay on my deivices until storage runs out. That G-d I got 64GB's on each. I would need to thether them to a PC and copy off the older images to make more device room eventually.
I have moved my videos to YouTube almost auto-magically - My new YouTube 'Capture' is finding them, it appears, on the device they're on to make ready for upload. Any suggestions where to move images so that my circle can view them in 'Albums? - I'm getting in to Google+ since it seems I can store stuff there and assess permissions. Can I give read only permissions to my Apple Storage to others with their Apple Accounts?
I want to save my images and not loose them, sort them in Albums and let anyone I want be able to see them across the Internet.
In short, I need to keep your #3 advice for PhotoStream. Make sure there are not single images there that aren't back-up somewhere else.
Yes I meant Albums. If I copy them to PhotoStream will they stay for thirty days - even if they were there once before in PhotoStream? (though not in a Library)
The camera setting has HDR, under options. I remember reading somewhere it takes three pictures/images and combines them for the best image or something like that. It seems to turn off when I close the app or change to flash - I think...
Is it worth using?
I am, er was, a died in the wool Windows | AD guy | Novell too | Blackberry too. I am loving this new stuff. I am born again.
Thanks again Pvonk and later,

• Camera roll : 1 photo but 4Go in Settings

Hi,
I have only one photo in my iPad camera roll (3813 × 2742, 3Mo), but in Settings/Use Photos size is 4,1 Go. When I click on it in order to display details, I have:
camera roll : 4,0 Go
library : 538Ko
Photo flow : 3,5 Mo
It's incredible !
"OK, perhaps it's a bug" I thought. So, I swipe the camera roll in order to delete it. The screen came back to Settings/Use. And Photo is still 4,1 Go, and I'm no more able to see details on Photo use (when I click on it, nothing...). I have to go to the launchpad, and go back to Settings/Use to be able to see Photo size details.
How can I free this 4 Go ?
iPad 4th generation, iOS 6.1.3
Language : French
Region format : France
Photo flow not enabled

HI,
I assume you might have found the solution already. But if you have not and for other people.
install the app IEXPLORER on your PC/Mac and connect your ipad/iphone/ipod when asked.
the goto the DCIM folder and open each folder. If you find files with a name like ALLPATH, then you delete that folder.
it seems that happened when you try to import photos using the Gizmo to connect SD cards.
also under another folder Thumbnails, you will have to do the same.
I Just did it today and have recovered around 380MB. And it were all photos which. I tried to import, but failed.
it seems that when ypu import and fail and then try agin. It keeps the old files and doesn't delete it.
hopefully it helps all the people there.
I Just don't understand apple resolving this error

• What does the "copy" option do in "camera roll"?

Forgive me, I know this is probably a stupid question, but I'm really puzzled--with iOS 7 in Camera Roll, when you select a photo and tap the little box-up-arrow icon at the lower left side, you get about two dozen options, "Message", "Mail", "iCloud", etc. on the first line, and "Copy", "Slideshow", "AirPlay", etc. on the second line. I understand the first line options, but I don't understand what the "Copy" option is supposed to do. I'm assuming when you tap it the picture is copied into a buffer so you could then paste it into something, like preferably a spot on the camera roll in order to create a duplicate of the photo. That's exactly what I'd like to do, but there's no obvious way to paste it anywhere at all. So what am I overlooking here?
Thank you,
Jenna

She knows that. She was asking how to duplicate.
The only thing I can think of is pulling it into another app and doing it a "Save As" on it. Perhaps photoshop express might do the trick.

• Is there a way to view image numbers in iPad photos, either of images taken with the iPad or of images copied into Photo (or camera roll) on the iPad?

Is there a way to view image numbers (metadata) on the iPad Photo app, distinguishing those taken with the internal camera from those downloaded from external camera or copied from an email?

sberman: My iMac is running iTunes 11.0.2 already. As well, the Photos tab in the iTunes window shows that "Sync Photos from" is un-checked. And in the box to the right of it is the greyed-out empty folder that I previously synced to in order to remove photos from the Camera Roll.
Ralph9430: I did a reset (Home + Sleep) earlier when I was trying everything I could think of. I have also re-synced a couple of times. No luck.
Thanks anyway. I was hoping someone out there would tell me they've experienced the same problems (non-functioning DELETE button, and persistent data in Photo Library), even if they haven't found a solution. Then I could assume it's a iOS 6 bug. All I can think of to do next is a full iPad restore.
