Camera Roll in 4.2 (low res thumbnails?)

When taking pictures with IOS 4.2 and the default photo app, the preview thumbnails in the camera roll seem to be a lower resolution than in the previous versions of IOS. it seems to be missing the 'anti-aliasing' that was there before. more people notice this behavior?
When taking photos with ie ProCamera, everything is perfect.

Just tried it with two other iphones (a 3G and 3GS) and they both displayed the same symptoms :/

  • PC content viewer shows only low res thumbnails of PDF folios (from folio builder)

Since i can't seem to find a similar question, here's my story:
I've recently held a small class of 2*18 students, running various versions of indesign (mostly Cs6 and CC) and various OS (MacOs, Win7, Win 8).
On the Win 7 and 8 systems, some of the students had a blurry/low res and no interactivity feature output of anything coming from Folio Builder.
Regular Interactive Overlay Folio preview always turned well, and preview on the devices were ok too (except for the long process of putting things online when the PC users would want to preview on an iPad).
But i couldn't work them out of the horrible low res preview when the folios were built in Folio Builder.
So far i haven't found time to narrow the failing machines (we didn't have a lot of time for this).
Is this problem known ? Is there a workaround ?

Hi bob, as i mentionned in the title, it's the PC (aka desktop) Content Viewer that's concerned.
I know it's supposed to be rasterized, but the problem here is their (desktop) Content Viewer really displays the thumbnails instead of the expected (and interactive) content.
I had never encountered this kind of behaviour before, and couldn't track that on the website.

  • Sending qty of camera pics by email in low res

I am trying to send a number of pictures from my z10 camera library via email.  On my old BB it popped up question if wanted to send something like: original, large, small etc.....that way you could email lots of pics at one time on one email in low res.  Only gives me option to send all pics in origianl size which means i have to send one at a time.  Does anyone know how this can be done on z10 model?? Thanks

Auto resizing is not yet available, many expected it with the 10.2 update.
You can install Photo Studio or another photo app and resize the pictures before sending.

  • How to I get high res thumbnail images?

Just discovered once I've imported images into my library Aperture 3.2.2 (running under 10.7.3) doesn't render high res thumbnail images (when the Browser Thumbnail Resize slider is set to the far right/maximum), even though my "Previews" preference settings are as follows:
"Use embedded JPEG from camera when possible" is unchecked
"Don't Limit" for Photo Preview is selected
Photo Preview quality set to 10
Deleting and regenerating thumbnails doesn't solve the issue. However, if I delete the photo from the referenced library, then reimport the image, the browser thumbnail image renders sharp. The low res thumbnail is at left; high res thumbnail (after re-import) is at right. Both thumbnails images are sharp when the Browser Thumbnail Resize slider is positioned in the middle. Photos render sharp in the Viewer, regardless.
Going back through my images, it seems Aperture stopped providing a sharp thumbnail image since around July 2010. Other than updating Aperture, my workflow or supported camera hasn't changed. Couldn't find a reference to this issue in the User Manual. Am I missing something a setting somewhere?
    Thanks,
    Eric

Its unclear if the command Generate Thumbnails actually does anything if the thumbs already exist and as there isn;t a Delete Thumbnails command like there is a Delete preview command there are only two ways to force a new thumb to be generated.
One is to import the image again and two is to delete the Thumbnail folder in the Aperture library. I don;t know for sure if this will fix you problem but as I said it is the only way to force the generation of the thumbs.
If you try this make sure you have a good working backup of the library. Nothing here will normally cause data loss but it is always a good idea before messing with the library.
Quit Aperture, Highlight the library in the Finder and right click, Select show package contents. One fo the folders you'll see is Thumbnails, delete it. Open Aperture.
Also be aware that the regeneration of the thumbs will take some time. Depending on the size of the library it could be an all day affair. Aperture is usable while this is going on but it will be slower.

  • Bug in photo library : all in low res (res of the viewer)

I have a strange bug, after having installed an app (Iris photo suite).
All my pics are now viewed in low res in the iphone (the res of the thumbnail !!). and impossible to delete the pics of the photo library.
I tried to shut of and restart the iphone, delete photos from the photo roll, sync, etc... nothing. I still have this thumbnail with low res. How to get rid of it ??
    thks

yes, deleted, and support contacted too.
By the way, the developper was very clever. It's the 1st time he's ever heard of a bug like that, and Iris doesn't touch to datas like Apple's thumbnails.
It might come from a use this very low batterie.
But after deleting, resetting, re-sync, etc... Nothing changed. Excepted that I have recovered my original images by using CopyTrans. The originals were present. (cool!).
So i copied the originals on the PC, deleted with CopyTrans from the iPhone, restarted, etc... and the low res thumbnails is still there !!!!
I think I like go to an Apple Store. no way out of that...

  • IPhone4 camera roll inaccessible

    Any one else noticed this?
I have re-started, re-powered, re-sync'd, re-booted to no avail - just a temporary fix - the issue returns to haunt me.
What happens is the Camera Roll (within Photos > Albums) is there however it is too high and under the grey Albums label at the top of the display.  Dragging it down has no effect since you must have it below the "Album" label to select it.
So far the only method I have discovered to view the Camera Roll is via the Camera App and use the Camera Roll button in the lower left corner - or - restart, reboot, repower....
Now that this has been happening, I of course cannot go a single day without checking it and trying to solve it.  I have run out of ideas.

I will set some time aside to restore and flush the iPhoto.prefs as well.  I have a odd idea this might be related to the iPhoto 9.1.3 thing as well.
The 9.1.3 thing was related to the events that would split into random multiple appearances that could not be sorted nor sync'd.  I have an event called "2011" with about 1000 images, it would become 20 events named "2011" with very few images in each event of the same name. You could not sort them to group them together to check them all (keeping all on the iPad, iPhone...) nor would they sync.  2011 was checked at one time but you could not re-select all  prior to the update.
They still do not sort very well after the 9.1.3 update but it is better with minor edits to any iPhoto event and it will sort until next restart.  'nuf about that.
Reflecting on all of this I will restore the phone but first clear the iPod photo cache, prefs etc related to iPhoto to get that up to snuff before it gets worse.
    Thanks for your insight

  • I transferred some photos to my iphone via email and they come up in camera roll as low resolution.  How do I fix this?

I transferred some photos to my iphone via email and they have very low resolution.  First I sent them from iPhoto with highest resolution, then I transferred them to my desktop in highest resolution and added them to an email, opened the email and saved to my Camera roll.  They all look like low resolution photos. This is the exact method I have used to transfer photos in the past with my 4S and never had a problem.  What am I doing wrong?  Is this a bad camera?  HELP please!  Thank you!

My husband has the same phone, we purchased them at the same time.  I sent him the same photos in the same email that I downloaded them from and on his phone they show up with the normal higher resolution.  Is it possible that there is something wrong with my iPhone or is there a setting that can be changed?  I'm still learning to use it.  All my other photos are of normal resolution.  Does this make any sense to anyone?
    Please help!

  • Camera roll frozen & low resolution photos on 'save image' since 4.1 update

Have a couple of problems with my 3GS since I updated a few days ago to OS 4.1.
The camera roll when accessed from the home screen freezes when I click on any images that I saved from a website using Safari, though any images that I took using the camera can be clicked on and viewed in high resolution.
Also, any saved images using the 'save image' option on Safari from websites are chopped and are of very low quality.
Any suggestions on how to rectify the problems would be much appreciated.
Like I say, this problem has occurred since I updated to OS 4.1.

Did you do any of the basic troubleshooting steps since updating, i.e. restart, reset, restore?

  • Deleted photo and thumbnail still shows up in album view and camera roll

Hi, whenever i delete a photo on either my ipad(2) or iphone(4s), the thumbnail of the deleted photo still shows up in the album view and camera roll.
Also, a picture that i deleted months ago (have saved other photos since then, and replaced the thumbnail) from my ipad randomly showed up in the album view and camera roll??
I have IOS 5.0.1 installed on both iphone(4s) and ipad(2).
Is this a software glitch or??
    thanks

Sounds like a damaged database fie:
Try these in order - from best option on down...
    1. Do you have an up-to-date back up? If so, try copy the library6.iphoto file from the back up to the iPhoto Library allowing it to overwrite the damaged file.
    2. Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
    3. If neither of these work then you'll need to create and populate a new library.
To create and populate a new *iPhoto 6* library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same Rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, modified versions, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual Roll Folders to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.
    Regards
    TD

  • My iphone 4s suddenly displays images from Yahoo, Google, and Flickr at low resolution. The camera on my phone works fine, but any web related photo content is now pixelated and low res, what's the deal?

My iphone 4s suddenly displays images from Yahoo, Google, and Flickr at a low resolution. I have IOS 7.0.4. My phone camera works fine, but any web based photo content from Safari, Yahoo images, Google images, and Flickr all come in pixelated and low res. What's the deal?

It happened to me but later I figured out that cellular signal was not that great and so the Internet was very slow. It took me about 2 minutes to get the full resolution picuture on either of the app you've described. Try to get faster internet either by wifi or good signal and then check.

  • Increase size of thumbnail images in camera roll

hi, is there a app available which will increase the size of the the thumbnail images while scrolling images in the camera roll, I want to see 6 or 8 images on the screen per view. The default is approx 30 images

I'm not aware of any app that would help but you might want to make the suggestion to Apple that they add an option for larger sizes in a future release: https://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html

  • Camera roll not displaying thumbnails

About a week again some of the thumbnails vanished and instead were replaced with a plain white box with png or jpg in it. This is happening with old pictures (the thumbnails were working a week ago!). It hasn't effected any new photos I have taken in the last week. Please help!
I found a suggested fix online, which advised to download a program called iExplorer and then delete some PhotoData files from the iPhone. This did not work for me. Does anyone have an alternative solution please?
    Thanks.

That is intentional. The Camera Roll album is no longer show as a separate album, also My Photo Stream is no longer a separate album.  This Help document explains, where you will see the photos now.
Get help finding your Photos in iOS 8http://support.apple.com/kb/HT6464
Have you enabled the "Summarise Photos" option? Then disable it.
By default, Photos displays a representative subset of your photos when you view by year or by collection.
To see all your photos, go to Settings > Photos & Camera, then turn off Summarize Photos.
And did you migrate your photos from iPhoto?  Some photos may still be in the iPhoto Library, that is no longer supported:

  • No thumbnails in camera roll

Upgraded iOS to ver 4.0.1 Now I have some 89 pictures on my camera roll but only a few of the last picture thumbnails all the others are black. Tapping on a black area brings up a picture and able to scroll through them. Tried syncing again with and without sync photos ticked oft in itunes but still no thumbnails
    Help

Just upgraded from iOS4 to iOS4.0.1, and all the pictures I took on iOS4 have black thumbnails -- pictures taken under OS2 and OS3 are fine, as are those I take with iOS4.0.1.

  • All photos deleted now my camera roll is grey with MP4 thumbnails

    Hi all!
My iPhone was super low on memory so I thought i'd copy and paste a load of my photos off of my phone onto my PC and then delete them off my phone.
I'd copied over what I wanted, and after that was done, I went back to the photos on my iPhone made sure everything that was selected was what I wanted to delete. So after I checked that, I deleted them.
Now, they have deleted the wrong photos and havent even copied any over onto my laptop. I am now left with lots of grey squares in my camera roll saying "MP4" when I click on it, it says "The requested URL was not found on this server"
I know there is probably no chance of me getting my photos back but can someone explain what is going on?! I am devastated as you can imagine.
    Thank you very much
    Eliza

    Hello Eliza,
I am so sorry to hear that and I would be devastated too to lose photos. There may be hope, If you have a back up in iTunes or iCloud, then you can replace the contents of your phone with that back up. Take a look at the article below on how to back up and restore your iPhone.

  • Messed up Camera Roll thumbnails from iPhone5 iCloud restore

Has anyone else experienced messed up thumbnails restoring from an iCloud backup to new iPhone5? There is a huge section in my Camera Roll where the 2nd and 4th columns do not display thumbnail images. Same with Photostream. I can click on the gray thumbnail and see the image so I know they're there. It is just messed up thumbnails. I'm not sure how to fix this?

I'm having the exact same problem, did you find a solution?
