Camera Roll is not the same in Camera app vs Photos app ???

iPhone 4S issue...
I just got a new iPhone 4S. Restored from a 3GS backup.
I noticed yesterday that some of the photos that I took with the built-in Camera app aren't showing in the Camera Roll. Specifically, the last 3 pictures that I took plus a couple three other older ones. But it only happens when I view the Camera Roll through the Camera app. Using the Photos app I can see all the photos I've taken.
- When viewed from the Photos app, the "Albums" list says "Camera Roll (254)" and all photos show up.
- When I open the Camera app and click on the picture thumbnail in the bottom left and it opens the Camera Roll it says "248 of 248" at the top of the screen and I can't see my last three photos plus a couple more other older ones. They're not in the thumbnail index and I can't swipe to them from the individual photo display. Again, this is when viewing the Roll from the Camera app.
- I have no other Albums but "Camera Roll". None of the photos have been edited either.
I called Apple support and they instructed me to reboot my iPhone. This didn't change much except now the last "missing" photo shows up as the small thumbnail in the lower left of the Camera screen. But when I click to view the Camera Roll, it's still nowhere to be found (along with the other "missing" ones). The Photos app still shows all of them just fine.
What the heck is going on? It sounds like a bug to me... the Camera app and the Photos app should be pulling the same data, right?
Apple support suggested that I connect it to my Mac and do a Restore. Even if this works, it doesn't give me much confidence that it won't happen again as it seems like a bug. Should I report it?

im also having a problem on my iPhone 4 that just started today, about 100 or so photos and videos just completely disappeared.. basically it shows the last 4-5 photos that i took, and then the first 50 or so.. everything in between is gone.
when i view from the camera vs the photos app the last 4-5 differ.. so who knows *** is going on...
but if you download a program called iExplorer you can view and download everything, as all the files are still there

How did the photos get onto the phone ? Only photos taken with the phone or saved from emails/websites etc can be deleted directly on the device. Photos that were synced from your computer are deleted by moving/removing/de-selecting them from where they were synced from on your computer and then re-syncing.

Is there a way to delete a photo from the CAMERA ROLL without deleting the same photo from an album?

My camera roll album is too big so I set up different albums to 'move' the phots out of the camera roll. After I moved photos I went to delete the photo from the 'camera roll album' but when I did, it deleted the photos from the other album I moved the photo to. Is there anyway to remove from camera roll while keeping it in the particular album?.

Try:

As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

RESOLVED!!! I logged on to my Straight Talk online account, and did a Tech Chat. They immediately gave me a direct phone number and a Reference PIN number and asked me to contact their iPhone specialty support. I called (of course the gentleman's accent was very difficult for me to understand, but managed with asking continually for clarity). He walked me through several tests, setting changes and had me get on my wifi to obtain the latest APN settings. None of his efforts worked ad it was obviously NOT my Straight Talk iPhone 5, 64GB CDMA (no SIM) - it was something with their setting on their end on my account. I was placed on hold a few times and he would come back on to have me try to get on Safari and even Google... after the 3rd on-hold, he returned and asked me to try to use my data again without the wifi turned on and BINGO it worked... I still do not have my wifi turned on and I'm still receiving texts from YESTERDAY too while I was away from wifi service. IF you come across this issue - please call Straight Talk and/or log on to your Straight Talk online account and talk to an online customer service representative and get their direct line phone number for iPhone support and have your Reference PIN number available. File appearence not the same in PS CS4, LR2 and Camera RAW

I've just noticed that files as displayed in Lightroom 2 or in Camera RAW, when opened in Photoshop CS4 have a different appearence. In Photoshop the file appears much flatter and with considerably less saturation and dynamic range. When you compare the files beside each other in RAW and in Lightroom, they look the same. I have tried exporting the files to Photoshop from Lightroom using the "open with Lightroom Edits" and Edit a Copy and Edit the original, but the results are the same. After editing a photo in Photoshop and saving it back into Lightroom, the photo appears very saturated in the Lightroom or in Camera RAW. I don't know how long this has been this way, but now that I hace noticed it, it is driving me nuts.

Christopher thank you so much for responding and you have pinpointed the problem. The problem was the color settings. Color settings were set to sRGB and when I changed it to ProPhoto RGB Photoshop rendered file as it appears in the files in Lightroom and Camera RAW. I shoot in ProPhotoRGB and that seems to be why the images looked so flat when imported using sRGB.

Correct. There is only one photo and it is in the camera roll. The folders you create are just a way to organize the pics. it does not create a duplicate pic.
Just as a song is in your library and a playlist, a pic is in the camera roll and the folder.
If you delete a song from the library, then it is gone. The same is true of pics.

Camera roll photos are included in the iCloud backup. Restoring the backup should recover them.

I'm able to create as many albums as I want under the main camera roll. from what I can see, I can add photos from my camera roll to an album but the two images are connected. so what happens is when I try to create albums according to event or subject, if I wanted to delete the original from the camera roll, it also deletes the copied image. No, the actual photos always remain in the camera roll. Albums only contain pointers to selected photos in the camera roll. They are like music playlists. If you delete a song from your music library it will also be deleted from any playlist that contained it. And you can't keep songs in a playlist that are not in your music library.

Full screen mode in Camera Roll doesnt show the edited images

I am using iPhone 5 with the latest iOS.
In the Camera Roll, thumbnails show the edited images, but when I see the same image in full screen, the edit vanishes and an unedited image shows.
How can I fix this?

There is no way to remove the white border in Develop module. If it annoys you so much and you like to have the option of removing it then I would suggest that submit a Feature Request https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform
