Camera roll saving opitions

Can you decide what folder a saved photo will go to on iphone 4s. I know how to create folders but i cant save photos in different folders only in the camera roll. is there a app out there that can help? for example i have a photo ablum called cars in my albums section, can i save a photo from the web using my iphone to this folder?

Here's how I've gotten my pix into folders on my iPhone 4. I have a Windows 7 machine, but I'm fairly sure the principle applies to Macs also.
Set up a master folder called "My Pictures" or something similar. In this folder, create topical sub folders which will containthe pictures you want to send to the iOS device.
Connect your iOS device to your computer and open iTunes on your computer. Open your device in the left sidebar. Open Photos. Check "Sync Photos from:" and choose the master folder which contains your pix. Select which subfolders you want to sync, and then sync your iOS device.
When you next open your iOS device, the photo subfolders folders should appear in the Photos icon.
Note: All the photos in your folders on the iOS device will also be displayed in the Photo App's Photo Library. You're just viewing them in a different way. For example I have 444 pix in my Photo Library, divided into 12 folders.
Also, if you have duplicated photos in several of your subfolders synced to the iOS device, you will have duplicates in the Photo Library too.
There is also a way to move your camera roll over to your computer. Apple has a support document covering this. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.

Emails from camera roll saved to wrong folder -- IMAP Path Prefix Problem

I think there's a problem with the behaviour of the way picture emails are saved when you have an IMAP Path Prefix.
I have an IMAP Path Prefix of "INBOX"... i.e. my sent folder is Inbox/Sent. Any plaintext emails I send from the email application from the iPhone are correctly saved to that folder and I can see them in that folder immediately via the iPhone's interface.
When I navigate to the camera roll or photo album and send a picture email to somebody, and use the iPhone to go view the sent folder, they never appear in the sent folder. For a while I thought they weren't being saved at all, but I just discovered from my home PC that the camera roll app is indeed saving them somewhere: in Inbox/Inbox/Sent.
That's right--I now have a new Inbox folder inside my Inbox folder, with just a Drafts and Sent folder. Drafts is Empty, Sent has all the picture emails I've ever sent with the iPhone.
Bug? I think so... Emails emanating from the camera app are taking the IMAP Path Prefix twice instead of once, and then creating that Path Prefix folder if it doesn't already exist.
Anybody else with an IMAP Path Prefix experiencing this with picture emails from the camera roll?

Ahhh interesting to find someone else with the same problem! It definitely happens when you send a photo message. My mac mail it shows my Inbox with a new nested sent items folder. I am using fusemail and the iPhone seriously messes with the folder structure. All sent items folders vanished for some reason on the mail server (but not in mac mail oddly) and I had to call technical support to make them reappear. I think this happened when I altered the Settings, Mail, Advanced settings, Mail box behaviour folders after having this problem with sent photo messages.
Now fusemail's webserver shows TWO Inboxes, one nested inside the other, and a "Sent Items" folder within the "new" inboxes.
Totally strange. I think there is a bug or two in the iPhone's IMAP software. Hoping for a bug fix soon, but until then perhaps a good work around might be to set the iPhone to store sent messages locally?

Where is CAMERA ROLL saved?

It looks like I lost everything that was in the camera roll folder when I had to do an ERASE AND RESTORE to cure the app failure problem.
For future (or maybe past?) reference, can anyone tell me where the Camera Roll is stored? and can I stet it to the folder I specify in iTunes to sync?

Photos captured by your iPhone or any photos available in your iPhone's Camera Roll should be imported by your computer just as with any other digital camera.
When your iPhone includes photos in your iPhone's Camera Roll, it is also detected as a digital camera when connected to your computer. This process is not handled by iTunes.
You can use iPhoto or the Image Capture application on your Mac for the import. Delete the photos from your iPhone after the import process is compete - both applications prompt to delete after importing, and if you want any of these photos available on your iPhone, transfer them back via the iTunes sync process. Do not depend on your iPhone's backup for these photos or you will eventually regret doing so as you probably regret it now.

At 1.3GB available, your storage space is getting very thin no matter what you do further. As long as you have the photo's in the camera roll saved on your computer you can delete them. Just make sure first that they are in your photo software. If updating in iTunes, just backup/sync first, then update, and that will save the camera roll in the backup as well.
At only 1.3GB you eventually are going to find yourself unable to install or update some app, or unable to take any new pictures, or some other limitation that will force you to free up space anyway. So now, before updating, sounds like a good time to make sure everything is backed up or stored somewhere else, and clean house a bit, then update.

Photos not saving to camera roll - iphone 5s

I upgraded to the Iphone 5s from 4s now photos are not saved to the camera roll. Took it to the Genius bar and they restored to factory settings, same problem but they later did a "deep restore" and it worked. When they restored my data, it broke the camera roll again. The only soultion seems to be to "start over". But this is not acceptable. How can I transfer some of the app data (texts, voicemails, and select apps) to the new phone?
Alternatively, how can I "fix" the camera roll?
Some hints: There is a folder in DCIM folder (when viewed with the app iExplorer) called 101APPLE that contains 49 phots and 2 movies from 2010 that I CANNOT delete. Iphoto wont delete them, they wont delete from the phone UI, and they cant be delete with iExplorer - in all cases it SEEMS like they delete then pop right back in!!

The only way photos would go to the camera roll would be if you restored the 5S from an older backup. If you transfered these photos via iTunes sync, they do not go into the camera roll.

I have a 32gb iphone4 with ios 4.3.5(8L1). Yesterday I was given ,via sd card, 6 pictures of me that were taken a few days ago. I emailed these pics from my home computer to myself so I could save them on my iphone4, so I could edit them in Camera+ and post them on Instagram. I saved all 6 from email to my camera roll no problem. Then I imported the first one into Camera+ and edited it. When I went to save the edited picture to my camera roll it took a long time to save. (or so I thought it was saving). When I went to my camera roll to look at it my camera roll said " Rebuilding Camera Roll ". When it was done my picture was not there. So I tried again with the same outcome. Then I tried to go back to my email and save another picture. No luck, " Rebuilding Camera Roll " and no picture saved after that. So then I tried to edit a picture that I actually took with my Iphone4 built in camera and same issue. Then I tried to take a picture through Camera+ and same outcome. Then I tried to save through safari and still no luck. Then I went back to my email picture and did a screenshot. It worked!! Then I tried it again and it did not work. Then I tried to master reset and this did not fix anything. Then I turned my phone off over night thinking that would do the trick, nope! Then I tried all the above again today with no luck. Then I called Apple Tech. and they want $30 to talk to them to ask them what is wrong. That made me very disappointed since I paid over $400 dollars for my phone and pay over $1500 a year to use it. That's bad business if you ask me and will weigh in when it is time to renew. Does anyone have any insight on what the problem may be and, or how to fix it?? Please help!! Thank you very much!

Ighnot, are you jailbroken? Cause I am and I have the same problem except worse. I can't save a single pic, every single time I get the thumbnail grey box with jpg in it and the actual pic is black. Only way I get pic is by zooming in then taking screenshot and I still get the stupid safari toolbox and address bar in the pic

Before 8.3 update when I saved photos they were added to my camera roll. Then I could access the photo I wanted from any app. Now when I SAVE a photo it is not added to the camera roll at all. iCloud photo is on. AND my Photo Stream is GONE entirely.

Hi all. Since updating my iphone 6 a couple days ago, I have discovered awful glitches in photos. When I save photos they do not get added to my camera roll. My Camera Roll and Photo Stream used to match. I would take a photo on the camera and I would see it on my photo stream. Yesterday, I added an edited photo to my camera roll by saving it (I thought). But it was not there. In the past, if I wanted a photo to post in any app, from Twitter to Facebook to Yelp, in order to retrieve it easily (if I had a lot of photos on my phone) I would sometimes text it to myself and then save it. It would be added to my camera roll. Then, when any app asked me to upload a photo, I could find it right at the beginning of my camera roll photos. Now, when I save a photo it does not appear on my camera roll. I discovered this yesterday when posting a Yelp review. I found the photo I wanted to use on my camera roll and it was way back at the beginning of the camera roll. I edited the photo. I saved it. It did not get added to my camera roll. So then I looked for the photo on the camera roll where I had originally found it way back at the beginning. The edited version of the photo was gone. Could not find my photo to upload to Yelp. Then I discovered it was the same with every other app on the phone.
PHOTO STREAM DISAPPEARED! This was my main problem and primary question until I tried to resolve the issue. I saw a message on my phone that said (I thought) that I needed to connect my phone to my laptop to restore icloud backups. So I manually connected my phone to my Mac Pro Laptop (2011) and backed up my photos. I made sure iCloud was turned on for photos. I have it set to Download and Keep Originals. It is also set to Upload to My Photo Stream. And iCloud sharing is turned on.
WHEN I connected my phone to my computer I got a message on my phone about setting it up for personal hotspot and it would not complete the update unless I replied. At first i did set it up, but it seemed to be an issue, so I simply let my phone and computer use my home wifi network. I don't need the personal hotspot, but it seemed to affect the photo issue further.
Now where I used to see Photo Stream and Camera Roll, it simply says All Photos. I am extremely confused. This is a mess. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

I restored it twice, once from icloud backup and then from my computer back up. I just restored again and set it up as a new iphone and now my photos are saving again. I was then able to sync apps and music from my itunes to my phone... So happy you wouldn't believe!!

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
No data will be lost.

Where are my Camera Roll pics n videos saved in iTunes(Laptop) when I backed up my iPhone to iTunes?

I backed up my iPhone today in order to save my Camera Roll pictures and videos safely in my Laptop and then I deleted them from my iPhone to make some free space.... And I want those pictures and videos in future back into my iPhone. So I know I must restore my iPhone from back up to get back the camera roll pics and vids. But what I want to know is, where are those pictures and videos saved in my Windows Laptop when I backed up my iPhone to iTunes today? There must be some folder of iTunes or somewhere in the iTunes software where they must be saved after backing up. I want to see them on my Laptop now but how can I do that?
I did not import them, I backed up my iPhone to my Laptop using iTunes.

they are in the backup file that, sadly, is not accesible unless you restore it to a phone... if you want/need access to them, you should import them

If it's really a couple dozen pictures, I would expect it should be under 100 MB.
You can try resetting your iPhone by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the used space is still so high.

The quick way is when you imprort them to an app on your computer, usually there is the option to delete everything on the phone that was imported. If you declined that option, then you have to do it one by one or manualy select in edit mode.

You got more problems then the iOS 6 you did not answer my question nor the other 13 or whatever you replied to within a 30 min time frame. You must got nothing better to do then to harass people and to pretend you know something about apple products. Which you don't from what I've read the other advices you should have gave to other people. But you didn't you replied a question back to the people asking a question. Well, I would try restoring it as a new iPhone rather than from a backup (as the backup could contain the issue) and if that does not solve the problem, then I suggest you take it to a Genius Bar for evaluation.
Before you do that, make sure you have your data synced to iCloud or iTunes so that you can get it back afterwards by redownloading and syncing, rather than from a backup.
