My camera roll photos did not transfer to my 4s from my 3gs. What did I do wrong.

You don't sync from a backup, you restore from a backup. When you first connected your iPhone 4S to iTunes, you would have been given the option of setting the device up as new, or restoring from the backup of your 3GS. That would be the only time you could have used your 3GS backup to restore your iPhone 4S.
The only way to get your camera roll photos on your 4S now is to either start over or import your 3GS photos to your computer(you should be doing this regularly) and then sync them to your 4S(recommended).

How do I sync camera roll folders to iPhoto?

Hey everyone. I'm at a loss... can't seem to find an answer to my question.
I've taken hundreds of photos on my new 4S and organzied them into folders on my phone. When I try to import them to iPhoto, it seems like the only way to get them on to my computer is to import them all in one big lump. Is there any way to keep the folders that I've created and import them with me when I transfer them to iPhoto?

Maybe you've solved your issue, I'll not be of much help. I just discovered that deleting a photo from the camera roll will also delete it from the created album. How stupid is that? Isn't that sort of what the "photo library" is for? Typical Apple: one boneheaded feature away from being absolutely incredible"! At any rate, I'm guessing this has something to do with your quandary. I now have to go though and make sure I don't lose any photos next time I tackle the camera roll/sync (I'm on PC, once a month or so I typically dump my camera roll into a folder, then put those photos in the corresponding folders I've created on the PC. This is going to complicate that process in sure). Good luck (my wife uses Mac and iPhoto is a mess. I won't go near that stupid program)

This would be done from your computer, as it would with any digital camera.

Sync Camera Roll using only iTunes

These are probably just feature requests, but is it possible to:
a) Sync the iPhone Camera Roll to a computer only using iTunes sync?
b) Change a photo's album on the iPhone?
Ultimately I am just trying to get the pictures on my Camera Roll synced up to my computer (moving a photo from the Camera Roll to a synced album should sync that picture no?) but I was hoping to avoid third party apps for this.
I can understand why changing a photo's album wouldn't be allowed since the iPhone uses optimized versions of the pictures on the phone (although iTunes could just mirror the change upon sync) but why isn't there a checkbox under iTunes photos to sync the Camera Roll?

The camera roll works like a standard digital camera upon connecting the iPhone to the computer you should get a pop-up that asks you what you would like to do with the piece of hardware you have just connected (unless you turned the option off) should be just as simple as clicking the import photo's option from this window (you can also set it to do this option automatically), dependant on what program you use. Also dependant on what program you use you can set it up to import them into a particular folder (say the one that syncs to the photo Library) that way it can import them to the machine and remove them from the iPhone at the same time then put them into the Photo Library folder that will then sync back to your iPhone putting them back on again but now in Photo Library rather than in Camera Roll while still leaving them on the computer as well.

How can I find/sync my old iPhone camera roll photos?

I've searched about 5 different ways here on the forums and can't find an answer to this question. I recently upgraded my iPhone 3Gs to an iPhone 4. I backed up the old phone and just sold it a couple of days ago. Here's my problem: I can't find the folder containing my (old) camera roll photos so I can sync them to my new iPhone. I'm aware that iTunes doesn't back up camera roll photos, however I understand they are saved as part of the standard backup process. Are they included in the "iPod Photo Cache" and, if so, can I use this to copy them onto my new phone? Note that I was unaware until today that I can save camera roll photos on my PC using Windows Camera and Scanner or Adobe Photoshop; I'll start doing that tonight so I'll have them in a separate folder from now on. I'm running Windows Vista on my PC, FYI.

No. If you restore your new phone from a previous backup, all data on your phone will be erased & replaced with the data from your backup. However, if you don't want to do that you can see if this will recover the photos in question from your 3GS backup:

Consider using sshfs to mount your Pi from your Linux boxes. It's much easier to configure and manage than samba. It sounds like you already have your Windows machines mounting your Pi so Samba is doing its job in that respect.

To help get you off the dime, here's a modified line from my fstab that I use to mount my Pi with:
gav@PI:/mnt/backup /mnt/rpi/backup fuse.sshfs rw,relatime,user_id=0,group_id=0,allow_other 0 0
Subsitute my mount points with yours.
For a password-less mount:
ssh-copy-id gav@PI
after you've set up ssh and generated some keys on your client box.

My iPhoto opens, but doesn't detect or sync any of my iPod camera roll when I connect it to my laptop. How do i fix this?

So my friend lent me her apple cable to connect to my laptop since my one stopeed working a few weeks ago, and as I tried to sync my iPod touch camera roll to my iPhoto, iPhoto devices came up with "Apple Device" instead of my devices name. And as I clicked it, none of the photos of my camera roll appeared and I wasn't able to sync my photos.
I've tried to update the software on my macbook and restarted it as directed to, but none of the software updates actually worked or changed so I'm not sure why. Also I can't update my iPod software because I need to delete my photos off (after syncing them to iPhoto) in order to have enough space on my iPod for the update. Not to mention, to be able to update my iPod software, I need to update my iTunes software, which isn't working.
Please help! My technical knowledge is very lacking and I have little patience as of now ugh!

download the new you tube apps in i tunes, in os6 just pick a video in the photos apps and select share, the old you tube app icon will appear

App to Sync Camera Roll Photos to Online Album (Facebook, Google, other?)

I was looking for an application that uploads or syncs my iPhone 4's camera roll to an online album with the least amount of effort possible. This could be either an iPhone app or a program for my Windows Vista computer, whatever gets me an album that is continuously updated as I shoot photos. I am using mostly Facebook albums, Google photos/Picasa, and a Blogspot/Blogger blog, but I can and will use whatever service that works with this desired app of mine.
(by "continuously," I don't mean exactly live, but rather an app that does this synchronization or uploading whenever I open up the app or whenever I have wi-fi, or whenever I sync with my computer, or anything at all that doesn't require too much effort on my part. I just don't want to have to manually copy and paste photos from my iPhone to my computer then upload them individually to my online albums every time I take new photos)
Does anyone know of an app like this?

I don't really upload pics directly myself, but there's a lot of space between automatic upload and individual upload through the computer. I should think you'd be able to get the effort level down to "Open app--select Upload--select a bunch of pics--click OK" without a huge problem.
The Flickr app seems to want you to upload one by one, but here's some other apps to check out--I find this site easier to use than iTunes:

HT1386 I deleted all my photos in the Camera Roll folder,I created separate folders containing all my pisctures. When I sync my iPhone it shows that all the pictures are loaded. But nothing displays on my phone?

I need some advice. I had about 9000 pitures and photos in my camera roll folder.
I wanted to manage all these pictures into separate folders for easier access.
I imported all the pictures onto my pc, and created and managed the pics.
I synced the phone and excluded the photos,as advised on the site.
The I disconnected the phone, connected again and included the pictures.
On the coclour tab it indicates that all the pictures are there, after syncing,
but on my phone, nothing appears.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there another way of importing my pictures
onto the phone and keeping the separate folders?

If you don't find an iTunes backup as suggested above, another possibility is that the phone was setup to automatically back up to iCloud. You can go to Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > Manage Storage to see if your device name is listed there. If it is, the section titled "How do I restore an iCloud Backup if my device is already set up for use?" in the following link gives directions on how to resore it: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4036
Also, I'm sorry to hear you lost 5 years of pictures. Having them in one place (as you unfortunately found out) is not a good idea as all kinds of things can happen including loss of the phone. If you have a computer it is a good idea to periodically import them to the computer where you can see that they have successfully transferred to a second location. Icloud camera roll photos will not download my camera roll to my ipad 2, only will download the phonestream photos. Can someone tell me how to get the camera roll photos to sync on ipad.

Only photos taken after turning on Photo Stream will be added to Photo Stream and synced between devices.
