Camera roll wrong order

the Camera Roll is all wrong of order. Photos taken last year are near the front, the photos I took yesterday are in the middle, and photos from a couple weeks ago are near the beginning.
What’s going on? How can I fix it?

This has happened to me to. I updated my phone to the latest iOS last night and I've got all my videos and any photo's I've airdropped from my wife showing up in my collections as taken to today... so frustrating!!!

Iphone 5 cant open text pics, have to save to camera roll in order to open

When I receive a text message with a picture in it, I can see the tiny little picture while reading the text message, but when I push the picture to make it larger it doesnt open. I have to then save it to my camera roll in order to open it.

Why is there no reply? I thought Apple techs monitored these questions.

Camera Roll image order?

How can I have my photos in the camera roll show what I recently just took at the top of the roll instead of at the bottom? basically the order show newest taken to oldest photos instead of oldest to newest and having to scroll all the way to the bottom to see the photos I just took.

I know of no way to do this. You should be importing camera roll pics to your computer on a regular basis ( and backing them up from there). Why not just make albums/folders from the pics and syncing them back to the iphone from your computer.

Copy photos back into camera roll in order

Hi there, hope someone can help!
I copied a bunch of photos off from 2011 into iPhoto and deleted them from my phone, however I would like to put them back in but i'd like them to go in the camera roll back at the top so they are the first photos I took rather than the bottom. I tried copying them to the DCIM folder but cannot write to that folder which is annoying!
Does anyone know how to do this?

It has taken me four days trying to move photos back to my iPhone as well. I still haven't found a way. I know that the camera roll is a temporary storage tank. However, I use mostly my iPhone for editing and manipulating photos before I move them to iPhoto, sort them in folders and then sync them back.
My phone got stolen last week and the only thing I wasn't syncing to the iCloud were my photos as there were 7,800 of them. I have tried drop2roll and other apps that have been suggested by various users. Syncing folders via iTunes to the iPhone makes them read-only and does not allow deletion of photos. I really MUST have the original geo-location and date intact as I use the photos to upload to various apps and journals which require this information for appropriate entry creation.
Is there any way to do this guys or do I simply have to make the decision to sit down on my iMac, sort all these photos there first and then sync them back to my iPhone? Really frustrated here and tired of trying so many different things that haven't worked yet.

Deleted videos from iPhone, but Camera Roll is still 3.1GB

I have an iPad and iPhone and I'm using iCloud for backup on both. Error messages galore that I am maxed out of my 5GB free, so I removed all of the videos from my iPhone, what was most certainly the offending data source. From my iPhone when I look at the Settings>General>Usage>Manage Storage I have 2.2GB for the iPhone backup and 1.7GB for the iPad. When I go to Info for the iPhone, I see that the Camera Roll is 3.1GB (it also says next backup size is 3.1GB, although it hasn't backed that up b/c it's out of space; last backup for the iPhone was 11/27.) Everything else below Camera Roll is much smaller (Twitter 4.5MB, iBooks 3.5MB, etc.)
BUT...I currently have 153 photos and 2 videos (0:44secs & 0:15secs) on my iPhone. When I've removed the videos, I've trashed them manually on the iPhone so why does it keep saying I need 3.1GB? I used Image Capture to import the videos as needed b/c I hate the one-way aspect of iTunes controlling everything on my iPhone. I do have a full backup of both devices on my desktop Mac. To further fill in the blanks, it says I have 1.7GB on my iPad, but the iPad has only 53 photos and NO videos, yet it says the Camera Roll on that device is 1.1GB.

Yes, photostream only syncs photos to iCloud.

The reason for this is probably because you only deleted 59 seconds worth of video which is not a lot. every 1GB (or gigabytes) is equal to 1,024MB (or megabytes).
3.1GB = 3174.4MB
What this means is your video files were so small in size, they did not remove enough data from your Camera Roll in order for it to make a difference.
1GB = 1,024MB / 10 = 102.4MB
every 10th of a gigbyte is 102.4MB so your video files were likely less than that size give or take which is why you do not see a reduction in the amount of storage you need.

Camera roll : 1 photo but 4Go in Settings

I have only one photo in my iPad camera roll (3813â×â2742, 3Mo), but in Settings/Use Photos size is 4,1 Go. When I click on it in order to display details, I have:
camera roll : 4,0 Go
library : 538Ko
Photo flow : 3,5 Mo

"OK, perhaps it's a bug" I thought. So, I swipe the camera roll in order to delete it. The screen came back to Settings/Use. And Photo is still 4,1 Go, and I'm no more able to see details on Photo use (when I click on it, nothing...). I have to go to the launchpad, and go back to Settings/Use to be able to see Photo size details.
How can I free this 4 Go ?

I assume you might have found the solution already. But if you have not and for other people.
install the app IEXPLORER on your PC/Mac and connect your ipad/iphone/ipod when asked.
the goto the DCIM folder and open each folder. If you find files with a name like ALLPATH, then you delete that folder.
it seems that happened when you try to import photos using the Gizmo to connect SD cards.
also under another folder Thumbnails, you will have to do the same.
I Just did it today and have recovered around 380MB. And it were all photos which. I tried to import, but failed.
it seems that when ypu import and fail and then try agin. It keeps the old files and doesn't delete it.
hopefully it helps all the people there.

What does the "copy" option do in "camera roll"?

Forgive me, I know this is probably a stupid question, but I'm really puzzled--with iOS 7 in Camera Roll, when you select a photo and tap the little box-up-arrow icon at the lower left side, you get about two dozen options, "Message", "Mail", "iCloud", etc. on the first line, and "Copy", "Slideshow", "AirPlay", etc. on the second line. I understand the first line options, but I don't understand what the "Copy" option is supposed to do. I'm assuming when you tap it the picture is copied into a buffer so you could then paste it into something, like preferably a spot on the camera roll in order to create a duplicate of the photo. That's exactly what I'd like to do, but there's no obvious way to paste it anywhere at all. So what am I overlooking here?

She knows that. She was asking how to duplicate.
The only thing I can think of is pulling it into another app and doing it a "Save As" on it. Perhaps photoshop express might do the trick.

Camera roll pictures are out of order after upgrading to iOS 8.1

It's nice that iOS 8.1 brings camera roll back. However, pictures are out of chronological order. I'm using iPhone 5s. I upgraded iOS from 8.0.2 to 8.1, and noticed this issue.

That's weird cause my videos are all interspersed with everything else like they used to be, which unfortunately means it's inconsistently screwing up too. My pics start with 2007 (first year i got an iphone) then run up to about 2014 vaguely in order, then back to 2013 where everything's all out of order, then down to 2012 again (also out of order), then 2011, 2010, 2009 etc like it's running backwards to 2007. Then once it hits 2007 again, it jumps to this past july.
SO aggravating!

My phone says I need more iCloud storage In order to do a back up, yet I only have my camera roll currently turned on for back up and it says it's taking up 4.5GB yet I only have 3pictures currently on it......anyone know why this is happening? Solution?

I don't know if something's wrong or I just have it set up wrong?! I have turned off all other apps etc so the only thing currently being backed up is camera roll. I transferred all my pictures to my laptop and deleted them off my phone yet camera roll still says it's taking up 4.5 GB

You may be having issues with deleting pictures from your iCloud Photo Stream. To make sure this is being done correctly, follow the steps in this article -

Specifically in the section Deleting photos from My Photo Stream with an iOS device -
Open the Photos app.
Tap the Albums tab.
Tap My Photo Stream.
Tap Select.
Tap one or more photos. Checkmarks denote photos you have selected.
Tap the Trash icon. Tap Delete [number] Photos.

Camera Roll - ordered by "Name" and not by "Date".

My Camera Roll had a problem yesterday and forced itself to be rebuilt. When it came back up I thought a bunch of new images and videos were deleted. I connected my iPhone 4 to Image Capture and found that all the images and videos are still on my phone. However, Camera Roll is now sorting by "Name" and not by "Date" -- Note: These are the columns that are listed in Image Capture.
Does anyone know how to get the Camera Roll to display images by "Date" again? Thanks for the help!

Odd yeah, from what I can see there is no way to specify the sort order on the iPhone. Is is possible that the date data became corrupted? Can you grab a screenshot from your computer showing the name / date columns?
Slightly off topic, but possibly a similar effect to what has happened in this case:
I know when you transfer files from one hard drive to another, and then try to sort by the "Date Added" attribute, the Date Added becomes the same for all files- the date they were copied to the second hard drive.

Can you arrange photos in a particular order in Camera Roll on the iPad?

You can't change the order of the photos within the Camera Roll album in the Photos app, and you can't create subfolders either.
If you want more control over your photos then you could consider using a third-party photo management app such as Photo Manager Pro (its help page) - that app can copy photos to/from Photos or your computer, you can change the photos sort order within it (e.g. by name, size, or you can drag them into your own order), though it also doesn't allow subfolders

Camera Roll is out of order after Trimming clips

My iPhone 4 was getting full, so I decided to go and trim down some of the videos I had recorded. Now, the videos on my camera roll are all out of chronological order. The software put them right up front of the list, as if it was using the date I edited them, not the date that they were created. This is no good! How do I get my videos back in chronological order?

Problem solved - but unsure of the cause. Turns out the ones that were out of order were duplicates of photos that appeared further up in my Camera Roll (and in the proper place, chronologically). Unsure why I had the duplicates, but simply deleted them to resolve.

At 1.3GB available, your storage space is getting very thin no matter what you do further. As long as you have the photo's in the camera roll saved on your computer you can delete them. Just make sure first that they are in your photo software. If updating in iTunes, just backup/sync first, then update, and that will save the camera roll in the backup as well.
At only 1.3GB you eventually are going to find yourself unable to install or update some app, or unable to take any new pictures, or some other limitation that will force you to free up space anyway. So now, before updating, sounds like a good time to make sure everything is backed up or stored somewhere else, and clean house a bit, then update.

Get camera roll in chronological order

Is there a way to ensure that Camera Roll sorts photos in chronological order? Obviously, the shots I take on my iPhone itself are in the right order, but ones that I import into Camera Roll from other sources (shared Photostreams, my other iDevices, edited on my iMac etc) appear in the order in which I save them to Camera Roll, which creates a random and rather useless compilation. My iPhone 4 camera roll decides to rebuild the library every once in a while and everytime this happens, it moves my most refer pictures and places them some where in the middle of the camera roll, making my last pictures I took with my 3Gs the most recent ones showing at the bottom. Small inconvenience but it looks like someone at Apple screwed up in setting up the sequence numbering of these pix and now it's a pain for the end users.
Has anyone experience the same issue and been able to successfully solve the problem? Please help.

Why when saving photos to my camera roll do they not save in order?

Everytime I try and save a group of photp's (ie. from a email) they do not save in the order they are in. How can I get them to save in order?

Photostream when enabled will only add photos from the camera roll that were taken post photostream activation. (Photostream does not currently share video)
    1.    Photostream only syncs photos over Wi-Fi, make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi to begin with.
    2.    Photostream only syncs when the camera app is closed, ensure it is closed.
    3.    Photostream only syncs when the battery is above 20%, try recharging the device
