Camera settings question

Got my phone in late August and I have all the updates I was given so far and have 4.4.4.  When I go into camera settings I have 28 of them and one of those is to toggle the shutter sound on and off.  My friend got her phone a few weeks after me on Verizon also and she only has 27 settings there and is missing the toggle shutter sound on and off.  She doesn't have 4.4.4 yet.  She said she does see an update but it's to correct bluetooth and she didn't take it as her bluetooth is working fine but I am wondering if she doesn't have that setting because she is not up to date or what?  She would like to turn the shutter sound off and can't.  Mary

Ok she said her phone updated this morning and now she has the sound one in camera settings.  I must have gotten it after I got the update a few weeks ago too and didn't have it their all along, don't know why my brain thought I did.  Mary

  • FCP X, a question about camera settings

I live in the middle of the Pacific and need some advice as there is no one here to help me answer these kinds of questions...
My first 3 big projects were done in SD using a SONY PD 170 and FCE4.
I just bought the Panasonic HPX 170 with a 64 GB P2 card.  I use a new iMac i7 (OSX 10.7.2) with all the bells and whistles and have now gone to the new FCP X for software.  I know the following is more of a camera question more than a software question, but I thought someone in this forum might be able to help me.
We are about to shoot another full length feature film (roughly 90 minutes).  I have read through the manual and a book about the camera but I'm just not getting enough information to make the ultimate decision as to what camera settings I should use to shoot the film.
In the end I expect the film to show at a theater here on the islands for a few weeks, and then a few film festivals and then ultimately, hopefully, sell DVDs to people who do not have sophisticated plasma TV/DVD setups, so I have to consider this also when shooting the film.
So.... I would really, really, really appreciate some opinions as to how I should go about this, i.e., 24p?  30p? 720? 1080i?    If it were you, what settings on the camera would you use to shoot this film???
    Thanks so much in advance.

    1080i/60 is your best choice.
(This is assuming there's not a great deal of fast action, or slow motion in the movie. If there is, you may want to consider 720p 60).
You really need to research frame rates and the difference between interlaced and progressive footage before you commit yourself. To be honest, the difference between 720 and 1080 is so tiny, I doubt many people could tell it apart if they didn't already know which was which.

  • Green Screen Camera Settings and other questions...

Hoping you guys can help me out :-)
I have a Sony AX2000 HD camera and am a wanna-be pro.  I've been trying to perfect my green screen operation.  I think I have the lighting down and can play around with PE8 green screen or chroma key effect to my satisfaction.  My problem is that I am very dissatisfied with the video quality.  I'm shooting at full HD 1920x1080 resolution, and although the AVCHD video that my camera creates is awesome, when I create my final product, the video is awful.
This project is for online viewing mostly, although I need to provide DVD's too.  I do not need HD, but assumed shooting in HD and reducing it down MUST be better than shooting in standard DV mode.  I guess I assumed wrong?  (Just been reading this - http://forums.adobe.com/thread/593946?tstart=0)
I'm also wondering about my camera settings.  I had everything on auto, but I read somewhere using the manual focus, and turning down the gain helps - especially with the first problem I had which was noise.  Actually, I improved this some with lighting, but blacks in particular seemed "noiser" than I found acceptable...
The other problem I have is fast movement.  If my subject is throwing their arms around at any decent pace, even creating a high definition MPEG give me some terrible motion blur...  then I realized even just creating a HD MPEG of the original video without the chromakey effect gives me sub standard quality, compared to the original AVCHD file.  After searching this forum, I think I might have found the problem.  I need to check my project settings to make sure they match the source files...  I'll post again once I've tried this and let you guys know if it works...
    Any other tips/thoughts out there?

OK - I discovered today that I was in fact using the wrong presets in Premier Elements.  Rectifying that little detail gave me MUCH improved ouput - both for the MPEGS and even the standard DVD (although it still has the "home made" look to it rather than the TV clarity I would expect, it's a million times better than what I had).
Now I understand the basics of presets, I also discovered I wasn't using the best my camera had to offer either.  I had it set to HD 1080 60i HQ – I found out the HQ translates to approx 9mbps (when this can be increased to 24mbps by using the FX option) -  also the HQ was also giving me 1440x1080 resolution (when the FX could take me up to 1920x1080).  So, I'm hoping for even better results tomorrow.
    So, here are todays questions:
1.) The 60i part of the preset.  Presumably the higher the frame rate the better, but how about the progressive v. interlacing - ie. is one better than the other for chroma key?  Or does the fact that I'm going to be using this for web viewing (F4V format) and DVD's affect this decision?
2.) I took Steve's advice and downloaded Premier Pro.  Immediately I came up against a problem.  It seems like I don't have a suitable preset to choose.  Further, when I tried to import my files directly from the camera's memory stick, it said they weren't supported.  Adobe say the trial version is without limits, so any idea what the problem is here?

  • Newbie photographer, question about in-camera settings and RAW

I have a Nikon D200, and I can make a wealth of in-camera settings that would greatly mitigate the amount of post-production processing that I would have to do. Nikon's own RAW Capture NX software reads these settings. I'm assuming that Aperture doesn't read (most) of them (with, perhaps, the exception of White Balance, and maybe Hue). Is there a reference somewhere of what in-camera settings are preserved by Aperture on a RAW import?
    Thanks in advance,
    Mark Taber

It's a pretty safe assumption that no raw editor except the OEM version will remember the in-camera settings, aside from white balance.
Why's that? Because those settings don't really do anything anyway - they are just advance instructions for the converter.

  • T530 Lenovo Integrated Camera not working, Lenovo Camera Settings does not Display

Hello, I have a new T530 with Windows 8 OS. I am having trouble using the integrated camera. It functions neither in the Windows camera app nor in Skype. In both cases I get a picture with a gray background and a camera with a line through it. In Device manager, the camera does appear, is enabled, and the drivers are up to date.
After looking through other threads, I tried checking whether the camera was plugged in and indeed it was. When using Skype and I set the camera to on (Skype did detect the camera), I still got the gray no camera image, but the green light on the camera itself turned on.
I also tried using Fn+F6 to check settings. Lenovo settings opens, but the when I click the camera settings Icon, the screen loads a blank page that says "Camera" in the top right and has a back button (left pointing arrow) in the top left hand corner. The back button does not seem to work and I must change the window to something else in order to exit/close settings.
I tried manually installing both camera drivers and "power management" ("energy management"?) drivers. Neither of this solved either of these issues.
Please help me to resolve this problem. Thank you.

    Hi, euterpenc
I would make sure that the BIOS is up to date in the system. The current BIOS for your system is 2.07 and can be found here. Also, I would ensure that the chipset drivers are up to date, and those can be found here.
Hope it helps, and let me know how it goes

  • RAW Native Camera Settings for Nikon - do they convert?

Question on RAW processing in Lightroom. Can Lightroom show ALL of the the in-camera settings (WB, saturation, etc.) selected when the shot was taken? I prefer not to have to re-cook the RAW photos from scratch on every picture. Nikon NX2 provides this option (i.e. the RAW and JPEG can look identical as starting points on your screen) which I find helpful versus dealing with uncooked RAW images to start with each time. I am considering Lightroom for lots of other good reasons but this is a threshold issue for me due to time, etc.
Would love to hear anyone's experience on this. I use a Nikon D80.
    Thanks much.
    Gary

    Robert,
Specific camera settings, etc, are in fact stored in Nikon Nefs and can be read by NX2--or changed, if one wishes in NX2, but nowhere else, as has been stated.
    Eric,
Presets, or profiles, may come close in some instances to reasonably good starting points for NEFs in LR2, so if that is all you need or use NX2 for, then your advice is reasonable.
However, at this point in time, NX2 has some distinct advantages, most notably much more advanced and faster local corrections tools than LR2 and soft proofing, to name two.
However, LR2 editing is integrated with a catalog database, and NX2 is browser based, and that may make LR2 worth the tradeoff for some users. Both, of course, offer non destructive editing.
Each has it strengths and weaknesses, so I use both to take advantage of the unique tools each offers.

  • Advice on Nikon D200 Camera Settings

I have a Nikon D200 and I was wondering what camera settings would be more beneficial for me with working in Lightroom with RAW (DNG) files? The settings I am referring to are: Sharpening, Tone Compensation, Saturation, etc. Is it better to adjust these in the camera or in the post processing of the images in Lightroom.
Also, a DNG question: I will be converting all of my NEF files to DNG, should I just leave RAW compression off in the camera or turn it on???
    Thank you in advance.

So, in essence, it is the generated JPG from the RAW file that looks like crap when the tone compensation, sharpening, saturation, etc are all set to none in the D200??? I notice a big difference with the thumbnail view, I wasn't sure if it effected the actual RAW file. It seems to me though that I have noticed from time to time that some of my images do not need sharpening (since my camera settings are on 2+ sharpening), however, when I increase the sharpening in Lightroom I begin to see the halo effect due to the increase sharpening. With that being said, I set my camera sharpening back to normal and I will have to try it and see what I get (I have not shot the camera since the change).

  • Camera Settings and Printing -off topic

    Hi Everyone;
My teenage cousin is going on a trip to Europe for a few weeks and she will be taking alot of digital pictures with her Canon point & shoot camera ( 5 MP SD30), but will not be able to unload her images from the SD card. She already has Three Cards totaling 1.5 GBs and does not want to buy more.
So in order to increase the number images the card will hold, do you recommend lowering the resolution OR lowering the image quality by increasing the JPEG compression in the camera settings, for the purposes of printing ? ( obviously not all her images, but she may want to have some for her school yearbook, friends etc ).
This is a question I have asked myself with my own digital cameras, over the years, if i have to shoot JPEG i usually have the settings to MAX resolution and Lowest compression, in case i want to print some.
Also what would you recommend as the lowest resolution setting (in general, with any camera) if you want to print the following sizes?
    4 X 6
    5 X 7
    8 X 10 or US Letter
Thanks in advance, and i realize this is a little off topic.

There are no video/camera settings in the Skype app. The Skype app is not build to be used in Android TV which is why this was never needed.

Another question is for "Light Sensitivity", ISO="High" is described as "Ideal for use in low light without a flash and for freezing action in bright light". However, the flash is still enabled when the ISO is set to high. Any explanation for this?
Lastly, which is a better option to snap photos, the shutter button located at the side of the phone or the tap feature located on the touch screen?
I would appreciate some useful feedback from knowledgeable and seasoned N8 users who have mastered the skills in snapping photographs with this device. Kindly pay more attention to items b) and c) above as these are the conditions that require careful consideration to obtain sharp and crystal clear pictures. It is often more difficult to achieve good results in semi-dark or dim-lighting conditions if the settings are not configured properly.

    Hi,
when I'm using H264 codec I can't modify my cam.setMode(w,h, fps) because my stream hangs (second call to cam.setMode() uhangs video. When I'm using Sorenson codec that same code works fine.

  • N73 "advanced" camera settings ?

I have recently got an N73 for myself to replace a **bleep**py V3. Quite a complex phone to get around - my last Nokia was a 6310i - but the one area that disappoints in the camera software.
I notice that on the N80, which is basically the same camera and Symbian OS, there are a range of advanced camera settings which do not exist on the N73. Specifically, the ones that interest me are "sharpness" (which should be set to none / minimal for any descent chance of a good photograph) and the JPEG quality setting. Saturation would be nice too, but hey.
It feels like they are set to "high" and "low" respectively - which is great for a consumer's "gosh! wow!" type thing but speaking as a keen photographer it makes the N73's camera pretty useless except for taking pictures of car accidents and documents.

Am I sure about documents in what sense ? The N80 manual clearly mentions a sharpness setting and I threw the JPEG quality / compression parameter in as an example of a good thing to be able to change. Perhaps you can expand on your question ?

How do I access camera settings for each photo that i downloaded?

You don't say which version, but in v12:

In the Editor it's under File> File Info and is in the Camera Data tab:

  • Locking camera settings

    Hello
i use  my iPhone to take many pictures on  my job.
its very frustrating that the camera definately has a mind of its own in that every time I select it, it's on a different setting, filter, video, square or pano when all I want it to be is a plain old camera.
it also likes to change image orientation  with no participation of me so that I learn later on that I took a series of portraits of myself lol!
SO my question to all of you iPhone power users is why is this?
IS there a way to lock it on a particular mode so that it just takes color images, and that's all?
ive checked settings and I don't see anywhere to do this.
if not, any ideas as to why this is happening and how to stop this bad behavior?
    heres an example.
taking image. Puts phone in pocket carefully, 3-5 minutes later, fish out phone to take an image and it has switched to video Or something else.
    see what I mean.
    thanks.

No, there is no way to lock the camera settings. Lock the screen by tapping the power button before putting the phone in your pocket. This works for me.
You may also want to check out the hundreds (possibly thousands) of camera apps available in the App Store. There may be one that either offers locking features that you want or that has fewer features.
    Best of luck.

  • Video Properties/Camera Settings

    Hello everyone,
Just like in Adobe Lightroom, where I can see the camera settings, such as aperture, ISO, and shutter speed of an image, is there a way to do it in Premiere Pro CC, so that I can see all these settings of a video clip?
I did a test shoot with different settings, and would like to see these for each clip to see what worked best. Please advise. My online search hasn't revealed anything.
    Thanks in advance.

I think I might have answered my own question. I think I set the project to anamorphic which would mean I'll have to start over again. Cos you can't change movie settings once you've started importing everything?
What would be the advised settings for a project for a 16:9 aspect ratio, FPS etc? It will probably be only viewed online somewhere I.e. Facebook or a website etc
    Hope that is all clear:)
