my new iphone 5s is showing a shadow print when pictures are taken
when taking pictures i always make sure my thumb is not covering the lens
someone told me that maybe some dirt covered the lens inside
how can i fix this
could this be a software problem

Camera isn't functioning or has undesired image quality
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.
Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. You can also tap to readjust focus while recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll.
Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.

Server Admin not showing jobs in print queue

Hi All,
I'm not sure if others are having this problem or if it's just me. I am running Mac Server OS X 10.6.7 When I go to Server Admin and select "Print" and then "Job Status", I get a list of all the server's print queues. In the pane below the list of queues, there is a section that says "Jobs on Queue:" which then allows me to select any specific print queue. The problem is, no matter what queue I select, I am never able to see any of the print jobs going through the queue. I have sent multiple jobs to different printers on the server, all while watching the "Jobs on Queue" window for the appropriate printer. In every test, I have never seen ANY print job show up in that window, even though all the print jobs print out fine. I have even tried pausing a printer to let jobs queue up, and still nothing shows up in that window.
I have also tried the same tests while viewing the prints queues from the "Print & Fax" System Preferences pannel directly on the server. Still no luck. Everything prints out fine, but I am unable to ever see any print job hitting the queue.
The reason I even noticed this problem is because a user accidentally printed a 500 page document by mistake. The user called me to stop the job, but I was unable to see anything in the queue to kill. I tried deleting the job directly from the printer, but this just caused the printer to lock up. I would try powering off the printer and restarting it, but as soon as it powered back on, the print job would restart. I even tried restarting the server, but as soon as the server came back online, the print job started again. Finally, after hunting on the web, I tried logging into CUPS via http://localhost:631 and was able to see the print job listed there and finally delete it.
Is there any way to monitor print jobs on the server in real time? I found this previous archived thread describing what appears to the same problems using Mac Server OS X10.5.8, but there was never any solution listed before the thread was archived.

I love that iPhones (and iPods and iPads) can print screen using the sleep/wake button and the Home button.
I'm surprised I only just now noticed, but I can confirm... once the print screens are imported into iPhoto, their "Camera Type" is blank...
So my "iPhone" smart album, defined by "Camera Type = 'iPhone 4'" will show all the photos taken through the camera, but not the print screens.
This is not the end of the world, and is a benefit for sorting through the kids' pictures... it's nice to see that their print screens are not on the 'iPod Touch' smart album.
But I do want my print screens in my smart album.
So... how to update the "Camera Type" field so I can populate it to 'iPhone 4' (or 'iPod Touch')?

I suggest using an EXIF metadata editor. This way you can edit the camera type + other pieces of info in the photo.
Here are a few I could find:

https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/exif-editor/id477514607?mt=12 One that looks easy and seems to have a nice user interface, but costs 9 dollars
http://www.photome.de/ Looks as easy as the one above, and is free, but is windows so would require some tampering or Parellels to run on a mac.

That would be an iPhone question not an iPhoto question - iPhoto does not create that information - the camera (iPhone or other IOS device in your case) does - iPhoto only reads and reports the information that the camera putsin the photo's EXIF or IPTC data fields
Ask in the appropriate forum
My guess is that since the image is not being created by the camera that what you want is not possible - but that is just a guess

hey man. i had the same problem and actually just downloaded some driver software at this cannon website. all you have to do is enter your processor information and download it. hope it works out for you!

PDF annotation with link, image doesn't show, only in print or Google Chrome, not Adobe Reader main

We are creating PDF files with annotations, we are using the O2 Solutions PDF Library for C#. We used to create PDFStampAnnotations, but now we want to make the images clickable, to navigate to the URL belonging to the image.
Therefore, we are now using PDFLinkAnnotations, with a PDFImageAppearance.
We set the flags of the annotation to Print.
However, the annotation won't show in the PDF in Adobe Reader. It does show in the Google Chrome inline PDF viewer.
It also shows in the print preview window in Adobe Reader.
But it does not show in the normal view in Adobe Reader. What we do see is, when hovering over the rectangle that should contain our image, our mouse cursor becomes a hand and a tooltip with the link is displayed. If we click, everything works as expected. But we don't see an image!
What can we do about this? This is really annoying, as I don't have a clue why it won't work. Actually, to me, this looks like a bug in Adobe Reader?

Indeed, I tried saving a PDF that had the "default appearance", it shows exactly the same. So it looks like it "can't" show the image.
However, of course, I do want the image to be shown. How can I achieve this? How can I tell Adobe Reader (and other PDF viewers) I really really realllyyyyy want to see that image there? I believe I'm not doing anything really exotic, right? There must have been tons of other people that wanted to do the same thing, I guess?

The file name only has 6 characters and I'm not sure what the .mod format is. So that's why they are not seen by the iPad.
Another way to transfer. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

i found the answear. go to library/PDF Services or ~/Library/PDF/Services and clean out this folder. you can also add scripts and automator scripts to add things

Top and bottom shadow printing on deskjet 5550

I have a deskjet 5550 and recently it just started with shadow printing on the black both before and after the actual word. That is on the basic windows test page, you will see the very bottom of the word congratulations in light black, then the middle of the word starts, then the actual word appears in full black (the right part) then the very top of the word appears below in light gray. So it is basically printing every word twice, but the shadow printing has the word split into 3 parts starting with the bottom then middle then top. I have physically cleaned the print area of the cartridge with a damp cloth, performed alignment and basic and intermediate cleaning, even cleaned the encoder strip and still nothing has change (nothing has made it worse but nothing has helped either). If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this or next troubleshooting tips, I would really appreciate it as I can't figure out anything else to try.

Thank you for letting me know about the patches...I just updated but still have the same problem.
If I cut and paste the photo with black background box into a new document it prints ok, but when I do the same thing
on a new page within my existing document it still prints with the black box on top. Is there a preference I need to
change in order for the black box to print underneath my images? This problem also happens on another page that
has a black box under another image....

Hi Chrisghe, I've read that it's possibly caused by the Skype app and that deleting it remedies the problem in the camera app and FaceTime.
I haven't had a chance to test that fix but will try it and post my results here.
Of course, if you need the Skype app on your iPad, then it's a matter of living with it until a software fix arrives.

Is it an Airprint-compatible printer, and is its WiFi enabled if it is? (see: About AirPrint)
If it isn't an Airprint supported printer, then you need a 3rd party driver on your iMac to print from an iPhone. Such as Printopia. As it worked in the past you probably have such a printer driver installed; check and see if it's running.
Beyond that try restarting the printer, restarting the phone, restarting your router, and restarting your computer.

If you have sent a test print via ePrint, and experience this issue, i would call the Cloud Services department.
If ePrint works fine, it is definitely a Google Cloud Print issue.
Also, when you print from your android device, are you using Google Cloud print or the HP ePrint app?
