Camera symbol on 'slide to unlock' page
I've got a camera symbol on my 'slide to unlock' page that got there somehow. I've gone to settings/messaging, to no avail. My camera app is not active. My kids tell me some of my texts come as a picture texts only.

ipod 16g, 2nd gen had the spinning circle running for hours. the unit also go very hot.
i performed a reset twice as well as a brand new reset to factory settings. I still got the spinning circle.
i also did a DFU. brought me to the apple sign, followed by a spinning circle and a 'slide to unlock' page that will not slide.
please advise.Likely a batter problem since high temperatures destroy a battery. I wold make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store to see what they say. It is free except for your time.

When I went to adjust the brightness on my iphone, the screen went black. I have tried everything I can think of and have read online to try....resetting the phone, turning it off/on, charging the phone, and restoring the phone. I can see the "slide to unlock" page and the "enter passcode" page. When I enter the passcode, the screen goes dark again. I can't even answer calls. What should I do now?
If no change after restoring the iPhone as a new iPhone or not from the backup, the iPhone has a hardware problem.

I have a weird problem. I have an iPhone 3G. I just got the camera sliding button next to where it says "slide to unlock". Is there a way I can delete that then restore my original screen?
It actually says my iPhone is 3G Version 5.1.
Then you must have a 3GS, not a 3G. iOS5 cannot be installed on a 3G.
Either way, the camera icon cannot be removed. It gives you quick access to the Camera but not your Camera Roll without unlocking, assuming you're using a passcode. -
My Ipad 2 started talking to me. I can't activate anything - can't get passed the opening screen to slide to unlock. I can't get to Settings or any other page. Can you help, please??

The camera icon appears so that you can take a picture quickly without having to enter your password. It is not responsible for the shutter sound. The Touch always made that sound when manually closing or going to sleep even with older iOS that did not have the camera icon. -
Where you slide to unlock the phone is a picture of a camera. Is it suppose to be there?

Yes, slide the camera icon upwards to activate the camera from the lock screen.

I have just updated my iPhone to version 5.1. After the update, the camera button next to the "slide to unlock" button does not work at all. It used to function well before the update. It happens to my friends as well. What should I do? Can someone help?? Thanks!!!!

My Ipod is frozen. I've tried holding the power and the sleep button for 10 sec until the apple came on the screen. After this i've tried again to turn it off and to slide the unlock button, but it didn't work! Any Ideas????
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Thank you for asking that question - I've been trying to figure this out for a while now. I finally caved and brought my phone into the Apple store this afternoon and no one there could figure out why I didn't have the camera icon on the lock screen either. I was told to reset my phone to the original settings, then load from the back up and that should do it - nope. Yet no one told me, or even knew?, that you had to double tap the button. Why don't they say that anywhere, all the advertisements on TV, and video on the website never says or shows that.
And what's the point of the 'quick access' to the camera button from the lock screen if you have to remember to double tap the home button?? You'd think at this point they would have had that figured out - unless double tapping the home button had been used for other things in the past that I just didn't know about? Very frustrating past couple of weeks trying to figure this out, and all over a little camera icon! Thanks for letting us know how to access it, I honestly wouldn't have figured it out - and clearly the staff at the store didn't have a clue either! -
"Not Enough Storage" just came up. Eveything frozen (Close, Settings in the box), and unable to slide to unlock and slide to power down. Help!!
Try giving your iPad a reset. Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. If you see the silver apple it's rebooting.
Might unfreeze it however you'll still need to remove some content from your device to free up some space. -
No camera icon next to "slide to unlock" after update.
After updating my ipod, there isn't a camera icon next to my unlock slider.
just click the Home Button twice, and the camera icon will appear next to unlock slider

So, my iphone 5 will be no where close to dying but when I go to slide to unlock it turns off then turns back on. Or if I go to my camera it turns off and right back on. What's going on?

Try to Reset your device.
Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears (ignore the Slide to Power Off option that shows up first). -
Before I upgraded to ios7 whenever I got a text or an app alert ( for instance: my turn in words with friends) I would 'slide to unlock' and first screen to come up would be that text or that app. Now that I have ios7 it just brings me to last screen visible before 'sleep' mode... is there a way to bring back that feature??
