Camera takes photo's of the desktop

Hi, does anyone know if this is meant to happen or maybe its a bug? My iphone was replaced 3 weeks ago but the original (two) didnt do this.
If I am in an app or contact list (or anything) and I quickly push home and sleep buttons together, the camera operates and photographs the desktop. I have pics of my contact list, my icons, maps, etc.
curious.

Page 81 iphone manual:
"Take a screenshot of iPhone’s display: Quickly press and release the Sleep/Wake and
Home buttons at the same time. A flash of the screen lets you know the screenshot
was taken. The screenshot is added to the Camera Roll."

The front camera displays a reversed image on the screen, as if you were looking into a mirror.  When you take a picture, it comes out normal, which is backwards to what you would have observed on the screen.

  • HELP! I shut down my macbook pro and now after applications have been in full screen mode for awhile they automatically minimize and it takes me back to the desktop. How do I fix this?

I shut down my macbook and now while applications such as safari have been open for awhile, even while active, will automatically minimize and it take me back to the desktop.  How do I fix this?

I should add that this has happened before and I feel like it was a quick un-toggling of a box in my settings, but I can not remember what to do.

    Hi Mukesh,
I'd like to help, but can you clarify the issue?  Are you asking how to print a photo from your printer?  Also, can you confirm that your printer is a HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 3525 e-All-in-One Printer?
    Thanks!

    Because something is wrong.
You will need to troubleshoot to find out what needs to be fixed.
One of these suggestions may resolve your trouble.
FaceTime (and other video) quality problems can be caused by problems at either end of the connection.  Unless your video callers' FaceTime connections work properly with everyone else but you, both parities to the video call should consider these possibilities.
    (1) Restart your iPad and test again. Sometimes a simple restart fixes things.
    (2) Use a fast broadband internet connection for best possible FaceTime video.
Broadband speed matters at BOTH ends, so you use something like http://speedtest.net/ to test both ends of your video connections.
Speeds less than 300 Kbps (up and down) at both ends are unlikely to give best results.
    (3) Try from a different wi-fi connection.
If the problem is ONLY at your current location, restarting your internet connection may help.  Shut down your iPad or turn Airplane Mode "on".  Then check your cable connections, restart your modem and wireless access point, reconnect iPad to the wi-fi, and test again.
If the problem remains but ONLY at your current location, there may be a problem with your internet service.  Contact your ISP for help.
    (4) Always use as much light as possible for best images (including video) from your iPad.

  • How can I take a widget to the desktop

I would like to take a widget to my desktop ¿Is it possible to do it in Lion?
I´ve done it before in Snow Leopard but it does not work anymore
    Cheers!

    Assuming you are using iPhoto....
You want to select the event that has the photo in it then click once on the photo so it is highlighted with a yellow ring around it and then click and drag it to the desktop.
If you are finding it difficult to move the file that way you can select the picture in iPhoto and select
File > Export (Command + Shift + E) and select how you want to export it (format) and where you want to put it .
    Hopefully this helps you.

  • Make iSight camera take a snapshot of the user when keywords are typed

I work in an APR and we have a lot of trouble with people trying to look at adult content on our customer machines. Obviously we have blocked these types of sites, but we cannot keep tabs on all the proxies. We have also deleted Photo Booth off of the machines otherwise the machines are 3 people deep on weekends and we cant demo stuff to customers. does anyone know of any free apps that will take a snapshot of the user when they type in a keyword such as "Adult Games" or "Meatspin", save that file and the word they typed on the HD somewhere? Or, some way of making Automator do that? Don't forget that we do not have photo booth on the machines. And it would be nice if the App/automator didn't make the iSight camera light come on, and also notified us when a keyword has been entered.

  • Iphone 6 camera takes a picture and the picture is missing

Question about the iphone 6. Two different occasions now i have taken a picture with the stock camera app, the picture shows up in the bottom left preview window and when i go to click it and it takes me to the photo app, the picture is not there. Preview always stays there for the picture but the picture is missing. The first time it happened i tried to reboot the phone, it was still there, then i did a restore  and then the picture preview was finally gone. Now it happened again and i would like to not restore my phone again. Is anyone having this issue? It happened once before the ios8 update and after it. I have been searching all over and cant seem to find anyone who has this problem. I even plugged the phone into my computer to see if it was in there and it wasn't. Thanks!

Yes  the restore phone worked to lose the pic but then it just happened again a couple weeks later. I actually found a work around for getting rid of the preview picture. I plugged my phone in and deleted any recent pics from the camera and cleared the photo stream then I restored a photo I had from the trash on the phone and then delete the trash photo again, some reason the preview of the lost pic goes away. That just happened on a fluke but I Still haven't figured out why the camera takes a picture and it doesn't always exist except in a preview though. At least i figured out how to get rid of it without restoring.

  • Anyone having problems with their iSight Camera and making calls from the desktop?

I upgraded our early 2008 MacPro with Yosemite with no problems the day it was released.  I made a phone call through the desktop using my iPhone and it worked perfectly.  For some reason, this feature does not always work.  One minute the iSight camera works fine, the next minute FaceTime does not recognize it is on.
My iPhone was successfully paired with the desktop, but when I went to connect, I got a message, Connection Unsuccessful - our MacPro is not supported.  Does the iPhone have to be paired with the desktop in order to make/receive calls?  It was not paired when I successfully tested a couple of calls yesterday, but today it is not working.

Do you have email notifications activated? It may have been deactivated when the os updated.
Settings>notification centre mine is set not to show by default.

  • How do I take bold off of the desktop icon font on my MacBook Pro?

I thought I did it in the past, but I can't figure it out now.  I am looking at the desktop icons on my MacBook Pro, and the font is bothering my eyes.  I am trying to take the bold off, but I cannot figure out how to do it.  I saw where to change the font size and the grid options, but not specifically the bold.  Any ideas?

    Hi CoachSimpson31,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like what you may be looking for is the customization window for desktop files and folders. There is no option for bold text, but there is an option to adjust the text size that may be helpful to you.
    Mac Basics: Desktop
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3737
    Customize your desktop
You can change the size of icons, arrange them in a grid, and set other preferences for items on your desktop by changing the view options on your desktop. To change your desktop view options, click the desktop, and then choose View > Show View Options from menu bar. You can try the different settings to see which ones you like—you will immediately see the effects of your changes.
    Have a great day,
    Joe

  • I have installed IOS5 on my iPhone. There is supposed to be a camera icon on the lock screen giving the ability to take a photo without unlocking the phone. That camera icon does not appear. Help, please.

I have installed IOS5 on my iPhone. There is supposed to be a camera icon/button on the lock screen that enables you to take photos without unlocking the camera. That icon/button does not appear. Do I need to configure something to get the icon to appear?

Double click your home button when the phone is locked. The camera icon will show up then.

  • When I need to open a folder on the desktop takes long time to open, so it is with the hard drive?, I'm using Maverick

The system boots without any problem, applications without a problem when I'm on the desktop and I need to open folders taking forever to open and for a moment I open and blocks other thing that the colored circle appears, use ten folders on the desktop where I'm keeping this information and take process and lock the desktop makes my job a little slow, and does anyone know anything about all of this as repairing system error?

Have then select one of the photos and type Command+i. In the Info window that comes up check to see which application is set as the default application. If it's iPhoto therein lies the problem. Regardless of what is set for the default select Preview and click on the Apply to All... button. See if that will fix the problem.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • About cameras not mounting on the desktop in Tiger (10.4.3)

Information for those here who have problems with their cameras or chip readers no longer mounting on the desktop.
This has happened here too, with a Nikon D50 connected to an iMac G5 iSight 20". At first, I thought it was a lock file problem, caused by me forgetting and disconnecting the camera without first ejecting the desktop icon. But, I now think the problem is more likely caused by upgrading to 10.4.3, since I spoke with AppleCare today.
I was told that the 10.4.3 upgrade says (somewhere) that due to changes in iSync, cameras will no longer be mounted on the desktop. I made the observation that many users of digital still cameras prefer to transfer images from the camera (or chip) using the Finder. The operator said he would escalate this issue - he didn't know why this might have been changed, but seemed to understand that it would be an issue for a number of people.
Personally, I'm confused by the whole arrangement, which seems most un-Mac like: image handling prefs are actually set in Image Capture, despite the fact that the default app that launches when connecting a camera is iPhoto. Now, it seems, iSync is being brought into the frame (please excuse the pun!).
Why can't the action be defined in a General Preference pane, where it would be more easily found? Well, the answer is that it surely could be - and I would suggest that it should be. And I think the prefs should also include an option to have the camera/flash chip mounted on the desktop, for access in Finder too.
On a final note, the Nikon D50 is, I was told, not in the list of cameras supported by Tiger. Yet, when I checked with Nikon, they do not issue any drivers for the D50 and said that the drivers in Tiger are "D-series camera drivers" and, as such, are compatible with the new D50. Unfortunately, a lot of my time was wasted, because the AppleCare rep repeatedly wanted me to accept that the problem was due to the fact that this model of camera is not supported. This was despite the fact that I advised him of the fact that there are a number of threads here in the discussion forums, with users mentioning that they've had exactly the same issue with a variety of different cameras, of many brands.
I'll report back, as and when I hear anything further from the escalation of this issue.
    Nigel

You have tried a lot of things, all correct, but have you repaired permissions since reinstalling Flash?
Repairing permissions is important, and should always be carried out both before and after any software installation or update.
Go to Disk Utility (this is in your Utilities Folder in your Application folder) and click on the icon of your hard disk (not the one with all the numbers).
In First Aid, click on Repair Permissions.
This only takes a minute or two in Tiger, but much longer in Leopard.
    Background information here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=25751
    and here:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302672
An article on troubleshooting Permissions can be found here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2963
By the way, you can ignore any messages about SUID or ACL file permissions, as explained here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448?viewlocale=en_US
If you were having any serious problems with your Mac you might as well complete the exercise by repairing your hard disk as well. You cannot do this from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair.
Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.
Also, how much RAM do you have? Some older G4's can struggle with today's streamed flash content.

  • Photo preview on the iphone 4 camera lockscreen problem

i had a problem with the camera on my iphone 4 lockscreen when i tried to preview the picture all the picture was zoomed in and when i tried to pinch it to its original size it got zoomed. help please??????????

    No.
The Camera Roll is for photos and videos that are captured by your iPhone and for photos saved from a received email, from a received MMS or iMessage, or from a website.
The Photo Library is for photos that were transferred from your computer.
The Camera Roll is for temporary storage as with any other digital camera, and photos/videos in the Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera. You can leave the import by your computer on the Camera Roll or delete the import from the Camera Roll after the import is complete.
If you want the imported photos/videos available on your iPhone that were deleted from the Camera Roll when imported, you can transfer the photos/videos to your iPhone via the iTunes sync/transfer process - making seperate photo albums/folders by event, etc. on your computer which will be reflected on your iPhone when transferred.

  • Which camera will work best with the MAC? NIKON or Canon

Contemplating on buy a camera and a MAC, but need to know which camera will work best with a MAC, Nikon or Canon? Any info is appreciated

Both will work very well. You might not even need to install the software that comes with them because they'll probably work fine with iPhoto etc. Before you buy a camera, check this list of cameras supported by OS X:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3825
Just about all Nikon and Canon cameras are on that list. If a camera is so new it is not yet on that list, it will be in the next update, probably.
That list is for raw format compatibility. If your camera also shoots JPEG, it will work with a Mac even if it's not on that list. If a camera doesn't work by plugging in a cable, take the card out and put it in an ordinary USB card reader and the Mac will read it.
Nikon has a slight advantage in that it supports a mode that lets the Mac mount a camera like a disk on the desktop. Canons don't mount on the desktop, but it's not really a disadvantage, because Canons still work great with Apple iPhoto, Apple Aperture, Apple Image Capture, and Adobe apps, and all of those are more efficient ways of transferring photos than dragging them out manually.
