Camera tracker not working on large .mov file

I am using the camera tracker and it works perfect on a small .mov file however, once I import a larger .mov file everything crumbles. Text not working, points don't show up, etc.
Any ideas?

I'm kind of stuck here and could use some help.
Recently, I can no longer get a Quick Look view on some .mov files and many, if not all, .m4v files. They were working when I installed Mountain Lion and perhaps up until the first update. I'm not sure if this is related to the 10.8.2 update, but maybe.
What I'm noticing is that .mov files generated by Adobe After Effects, or even those perhaps converted from other formats usings MPEG Streamclip are no longer able to be Quick Looked. Also, .m4v files that were for certain converted by a 3rd party app are no longer viewable via QL. The files are not corrupt and open fine in Quicktime.
I followed the advice in this article: http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-57355404-263/fixing-quick-look-issues-in-os -x/ with no real difference. I've also repaired permissions.
Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. Am I missing a QL plugin?

camera raw is not working on my NEF files D600.. I ALREADY TRIED all of the updates ( first 7.3, 7.4 even the 8.1) i have the photoshop cs6 and im not finding a way to make it read my files!!! even the DMG converter its not reading them!!

It might be the way you are downloading them. I believe that Nikon Transfer has been updated to overcome a corruption bug which affects Adobe products.
If you are using Nikon Transfer, it might be worth updating to the latest version, and downloading your photos again. Or use Adobe Photodownloader instead (I would).
Also, accepted wisdom is to download photos off the memory card using a card reader, rather than via the camera USB, as it is less prone to problems. YMMV.

Quicktime .mov containers with multiple tracks not working on iPhone

Hello,
I have several .mov files (containers) that all include H.264 mp4 video tracks and AAC sound tracks.
Some of the .mov files only include one video track and one sound track, but some contain multiple, as I have joined a few clips together into one container. Each .mov file was saved as a Standalone file, so no reference files are needed.
All of them play perfectly in Quicktime and iTunes and all sync with both AppleTV and my iPhone. They also play perfectly in AppleTV, but my iPhone only plays files with a single video and audio track. If the .mov container includes more than one video track, the iPhone will play the first track and then freeze when it should transition to the next track. (Is this a known iPhone bug?)
My question is: Is there a way to merge video tracks and sound tracks within a .mov container without having to re-encode/export the file to an iPhone format?
The reason I do not want to export everything to an iPhone format is because I already tried that, and the total size of all the exported .m4v files is around 10 GB but the size of the .mov files is only 5.6 GB, yet I do not see any difference in quality. And my iPhone is only 8 GB, so I can't sync all of the files if I use the iPhone format.
I've also tried several different settings with iSquint, but the smallest I can get the files down to is 7.4 GB without compromising the quality, and that leaves very little space left on the iPhone.
Note: The iPhone is a 2G phone with the latest firmware.

I'm having the exact same issue with my iphone 4s.. I have a belkin wireless router with multiple other devices connecting effortlessly every time. I have my old iphone 3G, and ipod touch, and 2 laptops connecting with no issues. I am receiving the same error message as you. Lame.. If this doesn't resolve itself soon, I am returning the iphone 4s.

Working with converted .mov files in Premiere Elements 2

I recently got a digital camera that records .mov clips with H.264 technology. I use it for back up when Im having problems with my regular camcorder. Of course I can work with these .mov files in QuickTime Pro with no problem. But in order to work with them in Premiere Elements 2, it appears I have to export it into the .avi format first. After exporting in QuickTime Pro, when I bring the new .avi file up into Premiere Elements, the color quality is retained, but much of the resolution is lost. Its very pixelated. I understand that .avi and .mov work differently in the way information is stored avi in chunks and mov in streams, but Im wondering if there is a way I can work around this. The reason why I got QuickTime Pro initially was to be able to convert my finished .avi videos made in Premiere Elements 2 into MPEG-4 files using the H.264 codec for better quality. And Im doing that all the time now with no problem. So I am wondering if when I reconvert the .mov clip thats been converted into .avi back into mpeg-4, will the resolution be restored? That is part of my question. The other part is regarding the initial conversion process. Are there settings in QuickTime Pro for converting .mov to .avi with as little loss in resolution as possible? The manual doesnt address this issue specifically. Any ideas or suggestions? OS is Windows XP Media Center edition, computer Sony Vaio dual processor. Thanks, Judy

Hi again Steve. I'm so embarrassed. After my initial reply to your message I went to the Adobe site to see if they even made Premiere for Mac and learned they don't. I also read a review in Wired that says Premiere 6 is just as good if not better than iMovie which they say has actually been downgraded. I'm using Premiere 2, so I thought I might consider upgrading. Then I watched "Steve's Story" and realized it was you. (Your daughter is a cutie! Adobe must love you.) So my question is this: Would my problem be solved by simply upgrading to Premiere 4? If I do that, would it be compatible with regard to catalog integration with Photoshop Elements 4 or would I have to upgrade to Elements 6? If I upgraded the whole package would my current Photoshop Elements 4 catalog transfer with all tags intact? This is vital for me to know because I rely on them heavily. I realize that I would be skipping a version in the upgrade. Is that possible? Does that matter? Please read my reply to Bill because it explains why I want to use those particular .mov files. Another question for you. I use your excellent book a lot. If I upgrade will it become useless? Finally, since you're the expert, let me tell you what I'm really aiming for and get your advice. Therefore, I know I need to invest in a midi-capable keyboard or controller and software. The problem is that there are few controllers compatible with Windows XP Media Center Edition. I am told I would need to disable the XP Media Center registry keys for anything to work which wouldn't matter because I don't use Media Center features anyway (like TV hookup, media player, etc.). But messing with the registry sounds a little complex and dangerous to me. There's got to be an easier way. Do you have any advice or recommendations? Can you point me to any helpful resources? Now you see why I want a Mac? Everyone says all this kind of stuff would be so much easier with a Mac. Problem is I have a limited budget and would like to make the most with what I have. The iTunes Media folder is set in Preferences > Advanced, and is the key to most iTunes folder organizational activities. So I doubt that the automatic deletion will work for files that are somewhere else within the folder structure.
However, I have not experimented with that issue in quite a while, so you are welcome to give it a try in iTunes 11.

3. Copy AppleCamera.plugin to good place (usb memory stick is the best place).
4. Go to Time machine in date that skype work fine.
5. Change AppleCamera.plugin with file from Time Machine
6. Restart system, Now skype need to work with camera.

How do I handle a large movie file?

My wife created a DVD using iDVD containing both slide shows and a couple of movies. The movies play fine in Preview mode, but not on the burned DVD. I read the help files for iDVD and they said that movie files larger than 1GB may not play correctly, and indeed, the files in question are larger.
My question: If we update to a newer version of iDVD is this problem (or limit, I guess) solved?
Is there a way to break up a large movie file into smaller ones, but still have iDVD play them sequentially? (And with only one menu item on the main menu?)

I have never heard that large movie files may not play correctly. I have filled up many a DVD without experiencing this problem.
Now on splitting the movie up. Since the movie is already in iMovie, you just need to do a Edit>Split at Playhead to chop up the clip. As long as you don't put anything between the adjacent clips, they will play seemlessly when viewed on the DVD. You will not notice that they were split at all.

Not able to import .mov files in pre elements 8

Hi,
Using Pre elements 8 not able to import .mov files ,images stored on external drive (WD)
whenever we import it shows icon in premiere elements 8 about the clip but whenever we drag and drop it onto the timeline it opens the add media window again and if we cancel it we get message --could not locate the some files.
Able to import all kind of supported files images,videos in premiere elements 8 stored already in the computer internal hard drive.
changed the scratch disk, in pre elements 8, to internal c: drive (os).
All the files from the same camera.
Please advice, why it is doing like this.

What type of camcorder did this video from?
Version 8 is generally not compatible with video from still cameras, and this video must be converted before it can be edited.
Also, remember that video editors do not actually add your media clips to a project but build connections to them. In other words, once you add a clip to a Premiere Elements project, you MUST maintain a connection to the clip's location. So, if you're connecting to video clips on your external drive, you can not remove your external drive from your computer or this connection will be broken.

Speed up Illustrator CC when working with large vector files

Raster (mainly) files up to 350 Mb. run fast in Illustrator CC, while vector files of 10 Mb. are a pain in the *blieb* (eg. zooming & panning). When reading the file it seems to freeze around 95 % for a few minutes. Memory usage goes up to 6 Gb. Processor usage 30 - 50 %.
Are there ways to speed things up while working with large vector files in Illustrator CC?
System:
64 bit Windows 7 enterprise
Memory: 16 Gb
Processor: Intel Xeon 3,7 GHz (8 threads)
Graphics: nVidia Geforce K4000

Files with large amounts vector points will put a strain on the fastest of computers. But any type of speed increase we can get you can save you lots of time.
Delete any unwanted stray points using Select >> Object >> stray points
Optimize performance | Windows
Did you draw this yourself, is the file as clean as can be? Are there any repeated paths underneath your art which do not need to be there from live tracing or stock art sites?
Check the control panel >> programs and features and sort by installed recently and uninstall anything suspicious.
Sorry there will be no short or single answer to this, as per the previous poster using layers effectively, and working in outline mode when possible might the best you can do.

Camera is not functioning
- If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
- If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tapping Settings > General > Restrictions.
- Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
- Third-party cases can interfere with the autofocus/exposure feature and the flash (iPhone 4 only); try removing the case if you have image-quality issues with photos.
- Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
- Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
- Try to remain steady while focusing:
- Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center. Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
- Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. After recording begins, you cannot readjust focus until you stop recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll. Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
- If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.
