Camera Trouble

I am having trouble with my camera. Everything is blurry. You see some of whats in the picture but not all of it. It's pixelated and won't work with Photo Booth, iPhoto or any of my applications. I can't even find how to look at my camera settings in System Preferences. It's a mac. Snow Leopard 10.6.4. I'm mainly trying to use iMovie '11.

If you are using iSight and cannot use it per the above linked instructions, first try restarting the Mac. If the problems persist, try all relevant suggestions from:

If your iSight problem still occurs in more than one app and more than one user account, the reset suggested there often restores proper function of inbuilt iSight.
However, if your built-in iSight still does not work after carefully following all the suggestions in the "How to Troubleshoot iSight" article, and if iSight does not show as a USB hardware device in your Mac's System Profiler utility, yours is most likely a hardware problem. In that case, contact Apple or an Apple-Authorized Service Provider for service.

Hi, When I am on the camera app, in certain lighting condition there are waves across the screen but for several seconds and its gone sometimes it takes longer. It's only when it's kind of dark. I tried in a brighter area its okay. On my previous iphone5 there no such thing, I'm just wondering wether this is normal? thanks

E5 camera trouble

hey folks.. am having an e5 and it was working all fine.
then out of nothing the camera has started to give some troubles. the still camera takes a few seconds more to store data. also the video camera is not working fine. the recording display hangs for maybe a second, a few times after the intial 10 seconds.. donno wat. the resultant file is also distorted at that times. basically it is taking a bit more time to save datas, i think.
other applications (music player etc..) are all running fine.. its a wonderfull cell
i like it.
please someone help

Try to format the card when it is in the phone, it works. I had a similar problem. (backup the contents before formatting, remember, you may need to reinstall everything including Maps) and another important thing is speed of the memory card! Try to to use anything above 6. (it will be mentioned in the memory card , a number inside a circle)

Ive experienced this kind of trouble me too.. it happens to me when i switch from windows to mac os on bootcamp.
just try to power off your macbook and power it up again...that's the way i solve the pb on my mc book

Special Effects Camera Troubles

My camera alone is working fine but my main problem is when I want to use special effects like in Photo Booth. It is either scattered parts of what is in the camera or just black blobs. I have already been to the Genius Bar so I don't know what to do next.

The link you post is to an animated "gif" file that has been posted to Apple's web site.
It appears that the gif file is created from several partial screen shots of the Photo Booth application in operation. Macs (including your MacBook Pro) that have built-in iSights include Photo Booth in their bundled software. Look in your Finder > Go > Applications folder.
Image editor applications like PhotoShop or PhotoShop Elements can be used to create and save animated gif files. Neither of these applications are part of your Mac's bundled software.

Using a Panasonic HPX-370 Camera, trouble with formats

We are using a Panasonic HPX-370 camera with FMLE via firewire to a Mac laptop. We can only get FMLE to recognize the signal from the camera at 1280 x 720 59.94i with a frame rate of 60i using the DVCPROHD codec. We really would like to set the camera to SD, something like 720 x 480 at 29.97 or possible squeeze for 16:9 possibly using DVCPRO50 or DVCPRO25 but FMLE won't recognize the video signal at anything by 1280x 720 60i using DVCPROHD. Our client is only purchasing 1MB bandwidth at the venues for events so SD would be best for webcasts. We also back up to P2 cards so you can imagine that 8 hours at DVCPROHD in that size is a mammoth amount of data to back on hard drives.
We are very new to FMLE, any thoughts?

Welcome to apple discussions. Might be too new of a camcorder to tell (you'll have to tell us) but here's what I found so far:

It is listed within apple's KB. But as to how much apple support it offers? .... I'm not sure.

The convenience of the SDHC format makes it is easy to transfer files. The S26 offers Mass Storage support – connect with a USB lead and your Mac sees all the files.
But here ends the Apple support. Video is recorded in the .MOD format (also used by JVC Everio camcorders) which Mac apps don't recognise. You can change the extension manually (or by batch command) to .M2V so that VLC plays it.
For iMovie and elsewhere, you'll need a conversion app such as Aimersoft Video Converter. Is it too much effort for what you get?

Camera Troubles

I have a Canon HD HV10. I used to be able to copy the video to my computer via Firewire 2 --> HDV/DV. Now when I push capture, iMovie freezes. The camera keeps playing with no problems. I try to use Final Cut Pro and the video remains black, but keeps counting. If I push capture, FCP freezes as well. I am not sure if this is the right location for this topic because the problem could be a number of things... Please help.

*NO CAMERA or A/D-box*
Cable
• Sure that You use the FireWire - USB will not work for miniDV tape Cameras
FireWire - Sure not using the accompany USB-Cable but bought a 4-pin to 6-pin FW one ?
• Test another FW-Cable very often the problem maker.
Camera
• Test Your Camera on another Mac so that DV-in still works OK
• Toogle in iMovie pref. Play-back via Camera (on<->off some times)
• Some Cameras has a Menu where You must select DV-out to get it to work
Does Your Camera work on another Mac ?
Sorry to say it is to easy to turn the 6-pin end of the FW-cable 180 deg wrong.
This is lethal to the A/D-chip in the Camera = needs an expensive repair.
(Hard to find out - else than import/export to another Mac ceased to work
everything else is OK eg recording and playback to TV)
Connections
• Daisy Chaining most often doesn’t work (some unique cases - it’s the only way that work (some Canon Cameras ?))
Try to avoid connecting Camera <--> external HD <--> Mac but import directly to the Mac then move
the Movie project to dedicated external hard disk.
Mac
• Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk ? Please specify the amount of free space.
(Other hard disks don't count)
I go for a minmum of 25Gb free space for 4x3 SD Video - and my guess is 5 times more for 16x9 HD ones
after material is imported and edited.
SoftWare
• Delete iMovie pref file may help sometimes. I rather start a new account, log into this and have a re-try.
• Any strange Plug-ins into QuickTime as Perian etc ? Remove and try again.
• FileVault is off ? (hopefully)
Using WHAT versions ? .
• Mac OS - X.5.4 ?
• QuickTime version ? (This is the heart in both iMovie and FinalCut)
• iMovie 8 (7.1.?) ?
• iMovie HD 6 (6.0.4/3) ?
*Other ways to import Your miniDV tape*
• Use another Camera. There where tape play-back stations from SONY
but they costed about 2-4 times a normal miniDV Camera.
• If Your Camera works on another Mac. Make an iMovie movie project here and move it
over to Your Mac via an external hard disk.
(HAS TO BE Mac OS Extended formatted - USB/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange WILL NOT DO)
(Should be a FireWire one - USB/USB2 performs badly)

Hi Bengt W, I tried it all, but nothing worked. Your answer has been helpfull insofar as all the different trials led to the conclusion that there was something wrong with my iMovie software. I therefore threw everything away and reinstalled iMovie from the HD. After that the exportation of DV videos (there has not been any problem with HDV videos) to my Sony camcorders worked properly as it did before. Thank you. LKN 1935

Thanks for all your suggestions. What I learned is that I had a software problem. I had something called "Nikon Transfer" on my Mac that was recognizing my Canon camcorder as a still camera and was preventing iMovie from working properly. After uninstalling Nikon Transfer and doing a reboot, everything worked great.
I never liked the Nikon Transfer software anyway--I guess I'll get a cheap card reader and use that to transfer photos in the future.

Macbook pro 15" isight camera troubles.... black/very low exposure

Hi guys, see if anyone can help me, my macbook pro isight is acting a bit funny. When i open up photo booth my camera display appears back, but if I point it at a light sorce it appears that it has just been set to a really low exposure (shows some light when its pointed towards the light)
Can't think why its doing this, i have all the updates and laest firmwares. Open to any suggestions you guys have and would appreciate it allot.
also if it makes any difference my macbook pro it top spec with 2gb of ram and I have treid restarting and repairing disc permisions

Others have reported this effect after BootCamp 1.1 updates the iSight Firmware:
before Boot Camp 1.1: Built-in iSight Version 1.55
after Boot Camp 1.1: Built-in iSight Version 1.82
The solution apparently is to extract the iSight drivers from the Boot Camp 1.1 installer (iSight Driver.pkg) and add them again manually.

Camera Troubles after Lion installation...

hi everybody.. seems like the place to complain about lion... I have recently installed it on to my MacBook and have realised that the camera no longer works... e.g. PhotoBooth and FaceTime say that no camera is attached... it worked before I installed Lion...
I do not know if anyone else is having the same problem... Could anybody give me a suggestion?
From what it seems Apple rely on Apply users to help each other rather than to help us themselves...

Sometimes the flash goes off before the picture is taken. Flash doesn't sync for some reason. Also, some of the pictures have lost the red and blue coloring and is mostly yellow. Most pictures now have a gray shadow spot in the picture. Has the camera gone bad and is it covered under an extended warranty?

Front Camera Trouble

I am having problem using my front camera of Lumia 620. Few days ago it was fine. Last night when I tried to check the front camera view I opened Camera and then pressed the front camera button[Note: Back camera was doing fine]. After pressing the button/screen, the phone remained in a hang condition for 2/3 seconds nd directed to the home screen! I thought it was due to my unconscious press of home button so i again opened the camera. But this time my back camera didn't even open and just a matter of 2/3 seconds it again directed me to the home screen! This happened several times so i thought i put much pressure on my phone so I restarted the phone. After j restarted the phone I quickly moved to the camera, this time the front camera was working but same scenario happened when i pressed the front camera button. Simply don't know what's wrong with my phone. Now need a solution!

Hi, Shurjo. Have you tried restarting the phone? Do not forget to remove the battery.
You may also try to reset the camera settings of the phone. Go to Settings > Applications > Photos+Camera > Reset camera.
Ensure that all the system apps are up-to-date. Scan the QR codes found in the below link.

Is the software of the phone up-to-date? What's the current Firmware Revision number? Check that Lumia Black is displayed under Settings > Extras+Info.

Nokia 2760-Camera trouble

The best course of action is to contact Nokia direct, use the 'contact us' link on the top of the page, and inform Nokia of your story as fully as possible. It sounds very much like you have a faulty handset which needs to be repaoired or replaced. This is a user to user forum and so if the handset has physical hardware issues there is lttle anyone here can do except express there sympathy. I would be as forceful as possible and push things with Nokia to get your issues resolved.

ISight Built-in camera trouble

I just acquired a MacBook today, having previously been a Windows User. I tried using PhotoBooth, but all I get is a green space, both in the preview space, and the picture after.
Can anyone help?!?

(3) If resetting or the other suggestions do correct your problem, you can try the following:- Backup your Home Folder, or at very least, your important files.

The camera can"t be started.

I unfortunatly bougth Blackberry Q5 last day, and just after buying it the power switch/buttom isnt working. Till now i wasn"t able too restart the device.
And just now with in 18 hours i got new error the camera can't be started.
Is this poor quality and OS being made by the Blackberry which doesnt satisfy the customer for the single day, and i just read one post under which a person having the same camera trouble and reply given to him was to re-install the complete OS WTF, we are here to buy the new smart phone or to keep its software updating due to your poor services and OS / hardware.
Totaly dis-satisfied isn't going to recomend phone to anyone.
I have done the fullish thing to buy Q5 instead of purchasing Android or I-phone available in the market.

Can you not take it back to your seller and get a replacement or switch?
