Camera/video continuously on "STANDBY" ... Please ...

Whenever i try to use the camera of my Nokia 3500 Classic...the moment i click onto "capture", the camera goes onto the standby mode. While trying to shoot a video,and press "record", i get an error message saying "unable to save file" .
Pls help ... also, i see that this phone has no "liveblog" ... and the only two options to select from are phone and SIM memory....tho' the mem. card exists has.

the first thing i would look into is if you have the latest firmware, you can do so by connecting your phone via NSU (Nokia software updater) program. just remember to update all your data. if your phone has a memory card remove that prior to updating your firmware, also you might want to just shut down your phone, remove the battery for at least 5 minutes, remove the sim card, reinsert the sim card and battery and see if this helped you any. if that does not help then go and see if there is an update for your phone.

I just wanted to follow this up by saying that you were entirely correct in your diagnosis of the situation. My computer did have the faulty part you linked to. I brought my laptop in and specifically told them to run that test, had it fail and then argued with the person at the genius bar and the manager. Eventually they offered to have it sent out and have everything replaced for free of charge. They did so mainly because I had complained about graphical issues almost every other time I had come in with problems and no one ran the test. They should have caught this problem during my warranty, but they didn't, even though I mentioned the problem.
Anyhow, after having the part replaced, I haven't had my computer crash a single time since, or had many of the issues mentioned above. I've never had this experience before. Even brand new, I got occasional crashes. Hopefully this new trend continues.
I do find that web browsing is still incredibly slow. Web browsers just chug along at a slow pace, even though I have great internet speed. Maybe I'll try just deleting my web browsers and reinstalling them...

I am trying to determine the new project preset for a multi-camera video shot as follows: 3 Canon camcorders,
Main shot is DV (tape) (720x480, 29fps) - ceremony and reception
b-roll is DVD (mini-disk) (720x480, 29fps) - bride preparations
additional b-roll is AVCHD (1920x1080, 29fps) - groom preparations and misc all day ceremony and reception.
Film is from a wedding, DV contains main footage so I assume it will need to be the base. I am planning to use the preset for DV-Widescreen. Is there a better option? I'm concerned about playback as the three appear to have different PAR. I'm using Premiere Elements 10 on W8.
Ultimately this will be burned for two formats - one for a DVD that can be watched on a widescreen TV, second for a short clip trailer to go on vimeo.
(And no I won't be doing this again for a wedding that I shoot.)

And, after the Scale increase, you can always click on the screen and move the image around a bit
(without overdoing it to get black borders again).

If you use iMovie, you need to import it into iMovie.
What storage does your camera have? SD card? That's easy: plug it into Mac and then drag the footage from the SD card to the external drive.

Inadequate video playback from camera video

I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC FX07 camera. I took some awesome soccer video and was puzzled that I needed Quicktime to view it on my computer. I was sad to see that the video playback was horrible - all audio and jerky video. The video plays fine on my camera. So my first question is: (1) what's wrong with video playback? My second question is (2) do I seriously have to pay $30 to upgrade to Quicktime Pro just to save MY own video to my computer? I am obviously reluctant to do this if the free version of the software does not even work correctly. My computer is basic but I've upgraded the memory and other videos (streaming, my canon camera etc) work fine so please leave off the poor computer specs reasoning. Some honest feedback would be welcome as I am hopefully just not doing something exactly right. Thanks in advance!

I found a sample video from this camera on the web and it's working for me in the newest QT 7.6. I tried also mplayer and VLC player - both are able to play the video, so try them. You can also use them to convert video to another format (mplayer is just player, but it's shipped with mencoder that can do it).
If none of the players is working for you, try to post somewhere small sample video from your cam - I'll take a look on it.

Is it Possible to add a Short Camera Video to a Slideshow?

Is it possible to include a short camera video into an iPhoto slideshow?
I have been able to import the video into iPhoto but the program does not appear to allow me to include the video into a slide show.
My nephew has been able to create a dvd which combined pictures and a short video that was taken directly from his camera using a pc and a program he downloaded for free from the Net. I hope iPhoto has this capability.

Thanks for the info.
It is unfortunate that iPhoto cannot do this because it has been my experience that still picture quality remains much higher when I use a slideshow in iDVD or iPhoto as opposed to video programs such as iMovie and Final Cut Express.
As an experiment, I imported the same photos into a slide show as well as Final Cut Express - the end result on my TV was that the slide show photos were far sharper.
I guess thats ilife.

If you've noticed unexpected behavior with your iPhone camera, start with these steps to isolate or resolve the issue:
Camera isn't functioning or has undesired image quality
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.
Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. You can also tap to readjust focus while recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll.
Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.

iPhone 4 out of the box, Camera / Video app crashes causing a reboot ? Anybody else experiencing this ?

Well, here's my fix for you guys if you have the same problem with your library not being able to be created, and hence crashing both the camera and photos app.
As a matter of fact, I had noticed for a while that the images in the folders were not the same amount as was announced "on" the folder (they always have a bracket saying how many pictures the folder has). And on Linux, I was able to have a look at the structure of the iphone's content easily and was able to compare this (you don't necessarily have to go to Linux for this though, it was just easier for me).
Now here's the fix.
In Windows, I open iTunes and tell it not to sync pics, and tell it to remove existing pics (just in case, make sure you have a copy). In Linux, I access my iPhone, the folder with my existing pictures (they were still there), and move (not copy, the folder must be empty after this) them all to my shared drive in an iPhone folder. I then go back to Windows, copy the contents of shared-drive/iPhone to my usual iPhone Photo folder. In iTunes, I click I want to sync photos, check the correct folder, and oh wonder, it's all back to "normal" (it is actually quite neat, the new feats of the camera :)).
Please note that a restore only took a lot of time from me, and didn't fix the phone - this did.

I would like to simply put all my camera videos from the past year onto a DVD but do not want to have the iDVD theme menus and chapters. In the past, I was somehow able to upload and burn these videos using iDVD without the themes. Can someone help? Thank you so much!

How to create a DVD in iDVD6 without menu (there are several options)
1. Easy. Drop your iMovie in the auto-play box in iDVD's Map View, then set your auto-play item (your movie) to loop continuously.
Disadvantage. The DVD plays until you hit stop on the remote
2. Still easy. If you don't want your (auto-play) movie to loop, you can create a black theme by replacing the background of a static theme with a black background and no content in the drop-zone (text needs to be black as well).
Disadvantage. The menu is still there and will play after the movie. You don't see it, but your disc keeps spinning in the player.
3. Still quite easy but takes more time. Export the iMovie to DV tape, and then re-import using One-Step DVD.
Disadvantage. One-Step DVD creation has been known to be not 100% reliable.
4. (My preferred method) Easy enough but needs 3rd party software. Toast lets you burn your iMovie to DVD without menu - just drag the iMovie project to the Toast Window and click burn.
Disadvantage. you'll need to spend some extra $$ for the software. In Toast, you just drop the iMovie project on the Window and click Burn.
5. The "hard way". Post-production with myDVDedit (free-ware)
Tools necessary. myDVDedit ( www.mydvdedit.com )
• create a disc image of your iDVD project, then double-click to mount it.
• Extract the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders to a location of your choice. select the VIDEO_TS folder and hit Cmd + I to open the Inspector window
• Set permissions to "read & write" and include all enclosed items; Ignore the warning.
• Open the VIDEO_TS folder with myDVDedit. You'll find all items enclosed in your DVD in the left hand panel.
• Select the menu (usually named VTS Menu) and delete it
• Choose from the menu File > Test with DVD Player to see if your DVD behaves as planned. If it works save and close myDVDedit.
• Before burning the folders to Video DVD, set permissions back to "read only", then create a disc image burnable with Disc Utility from a VIDEO_TS folder using Laine D. Lee's DVD Imager.

I had major issues with the iPhone 4s battery, however it’s resolved.
The tech who set the phone up at the Apple store did so with little training.
if you have a mobile me account. First go and move all your data to the cloud by going on your computer and logging in at me.com/move. The cloud has replaced mobile me, so there is no need for those two accounts
Also make sure that for any of your email accounts you set them up to fetch, not push. My tech person set them all to have the email servers push data to the phone. The new iphone4s antenna is extremely strong so it will continually try to access stuff that is pushed–***** a lot of battery life doing this. It makes it worse if you have exchange 2010 accounts. Something about changes made to exchange really suck battery life from devices that access such accounts.

Are you sure you don't actually have a 5G Nano? The 5G Nano was the only model in the Nano lineup that ever had a camera. If that is the case, see this article for instructions on how to copy these videos to your Mac via the Finder.
