And works, probably about 90% of the time. Actually, I haven't measured this precisely, perhaps it's 98% of the time.
So, without more information from you, your resolution boils down to the remaining 2-10% of possible answers.
What is your Operating System loaded to your device? Look at Options > > Device > About, third line down beginning with a "v.5.0.x.xxx", What is yours?
Is your device on a corporate BES that might have an IT Policy Restricting the camera?
What is the File Free on your device?
And, finally, did you read this other generic post at the very very top of this Curve forum section?

  • B560 4330 PROBLEM WITH CAMERA, WILL NOT START

First of all, there seems to be no forum on here that is listed for the B560... so move it if you need to.
I have a new B560 4330.  The camera is listed as working fine in the DM, but will not provide any picture in any application.  I have tried re-installing the energy manager, but that did NOTHING!  No, nothing happens when I press FN+ESC either.
    Please help, thanks!

possible hardware issue. at this point, i don't think we can help you. please, contact lenovo support line for further informations and guides for 'how to ship it back to service'

  • Will not start even in safe boot after installing latest camera update

MacBook Pro will not start even in safe boot after installing latest camera update.
I started my machine and did a software update. Only the camera update needed. So installed and when required I pressed restart. It restarted and did install. Then restarted again. I expected to get to the login screen and it turned itself off. Tried three more times. Each time shutting off. I unplugged everything, and pressed start waiting for log in window. No it shutdown before the log in window. I then tried safe mode and that did not work either on three more occasions.

I have managed to resolve some issues. I can now restart the machine via a CD boot. If I do cmd C into something like tech tool pro, then restart from that disks menu it restarts every time.
If I try a safe start it shuts down. If I try a normal start it shuts down. I have managed to repair permissions and that cleared up some start up permissions but with no improvement to the boot problem. The only way to load is via the cmd-C boot option. Any other ideas?

Here I am to save the day jlcarp! Let's get your camera working properly on your phone. May I ask what model device do you have? Can I assume that there isn't any liquid/physical damage on the device? Were there any changes made to the device since you were last able to use the camera successful? As you share the details then we can investigate.

  • 2007 Mac Book pro Shuts down at startup attempt. Tried reloading OSX and will not start up after that.

My Mac Book Pro started having issues. I tried to relaod the operating system and it worked for a moment. When I tried to do a time machine back up it failed.
Now itr Shuts down at startup attempt. Tried reloading OSX and will not start up after that.

    Dr.Conga,
did you try to do a Time Machine backup from your MacBook Pro, or a Time Machine restoration to it?
Are you trying to reload your current version of OS X (10.7.4, to judge from your signature), or are you trying to reload the version of Mac OS X that came on the grey installation DVDs that originally came with your MacBook Pro?

  • HELP urgently needed: My Sandberg FireWire for Laptop will not start on my T60

Let me start with information on my T60:
    OS information: Microsoft Windows XP
OS version: 5.10.2600   Service Pack 2
    Processor: x86 Family 6 Model 14 Stepping 8
    Memory: 3.135.856 kb
    BIOS version: 2.09  (79ETC9WW)
    Machine type-Model: 1951A47
I have just got a new Sandberg FireWire for Laptop, a PC Card with 3 6-pins connectiont. After inserting the card in the PC Card slot, the Windows Device Manager tells me that there are problems with the card. Looking at the 1394 Card Properties the status says:
"This device cannot start. (Code 10) - Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device."
The troubleshooter did not solve my problem. I have tried disconnecting, re-connection, shut down Windows and start again etc.
At Sandberg Help Desk they tell me that I have two slots in my laptop, one with a 16 bits bus and another with a 32 bits slots, and I should use the latter. It seems that I can use the lower slide only in my laptop and I cannot push the card into the upper slide. There is not enough room for it.
Here is what I found on Lenovo's support site on my type & model:
     PC Card
Conforms to the PC Card Standard 95
    Type II slot
Both the 16-bit Release 2.1 card standard and the 32-bit CardBus card are supported.
Have a look at these screen captures.
What should I do to solve my urgent problem!?

Sounds to me like a driver configuration problem.  Maybe something bad happened during driver install.  I would recommend uninstalling the device from device manager by right clicking on it and hitting uninstall.  Reboot the computer.  Have a go at it again.  Also, test your pcmcia port functionality by finding and plugging in a different card.  See if that works.  It might need repair.

    The status right now is:
The PC Card reader works on my T60
If I use a Firewire PC Card it will not start - as described above (on T60)
The PC Card work properly on my T61P - and I succeeded importing a video file from a digital camera using the Fireswire PC Card.
So what does a wise man do in this situation??
Please help me as I urgently need to know how to solve this serious issue!!
Have you got an idea? Can I import the video in another way??

  • MacBook Pro has a grey screen with circle and slash and will not start up or start into safe mode.

MacBook Pro has started to get a grey screen with circle and slash and will not start up or start into safe mode.  This happened once previously, however, it allowed a safe mode reboot and then worked for a week or so.  While utilzing the machine, it started with the spinning beach ball for about 5 minutes, went into a shut down mode and then rebooted and came back up with the grey screen with a circle and slash after a few minutes.  For the past three days it has been stuck and will not allow it to boot into safe mode.  Any idea or suggestions?

Try starting the MBP with the OPTION key down.  If you see two HDD icons, select the recovery Icon.  From the 4 option menu, select Disk Utility.  Select Disk Utility>First Aid and run Verify and Repair.
If you cannot get into the recovery partition, make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar.
    Ciao.

  • The Macbook Pro will not start past the grey Apple logo screen? Any help will be most welcome?

The Macbook Pro 13, late 2009 will not start past the grey Apple Logo screen?  Any help will be most welcome? Thanks

Have you tried booting with the install disc that came with your computer?
Find it and then run Disk Utility to verify your hard drive. If errors are found, try to repair the disk.
It sounds as if the hard drive might be failing.

  • PB will not start/run on battery

    Hey everyone,
I posted this on the power & batteries forum, but judging by the dates on the replies to other threads it seems like a VERY slow forum. So here goes...
    Just got a Powerbook G4 17", 1.67 ghz 2gigs ram but I have a problem.
It will not start-up from the battery. The battery takes a charge & all the lights turn green when I press the test button. When I try to start I can hear the fans run, LOUDLY, but that's it.
However, if I use the power cord it works perfectly, with one exception. The date is reset to 1969.
I ran the hardware test, using the OS discs and everything passed.
I reset the PMU, but that didn't help. Does this mean that there is an internal battery that needs to be replaced? The manual implies that the internal battery is rechargeable, so I'm a bit confused.
Any help or info is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

Yeah, weekends tend to be slow. Good time for beer drinking, right!?
Your symptoms sound similar to my 1G 17" PowerBook I was given earlier this year. Once charged, the battery will last about 30-45 minutes, drop to zero, then recharge to 100 percent WAY too fast. I had a guy at an Apple Store look at it and he said that its failing at a specific power level each time while showing "good" health" is indicative of a bad cell in the battery. Mine was five years old so he advice was to get a new one.
There is indeed an internal backup battery that is rechargeable. It's located under the optical drive and one of the USB ports is attached to it. Mine was dead when I got the computer but managed to take a charge after I left the computer plugged into the wall for several days with power off. Rechargeable batteries do have a finite life, and the backup in the PB does not have enough power to start the computer even when new.
Pull the battery and let the internal backup charge from wall power for several days and don't use the computer. Then put the main battery back and see if you can get the normal sleep behavior that gives you time to reconnect AC power when the battery dies.
Also make sure your charger is the 65W version. Mine came with a 45W version from a smaller PB and will not start without the main battery installed, even in its current sorry state.

  • IBook G3 will not start up-hangs up at blue screen

My IBook G3 will not start up. I can get the gray apple screen with pinwheel and then after a really long time it will go to a blank blue screen. A couple times it went to the login screen instead but in the user id it says "other" and when I try to enter my username and password it won't recognize me. I am a college student and one of the Apple geniuses here did a check of my hard drive and it checked out okay. We were not able to get it to start up in safe mode; it seemed like it was starting in safe mode but then it came to the login screen and would not allow me to login with my usual information. I was able to start up in single user mode and run fsck which found a couple things and after another fsck it said everthing was fine. But, it still gets hung up at startup. When I try to boot from the OS X installation CD it doesn't seem to be booting up with it, it only goes to the screen to install OS X. According to the directions on the Apple support site when I insert the CD and start up holding down the "c" key it should start up and then I should be able to repair permissions but I can't get that far.

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.

There are many things that can happen when you bounce an iBook off the floor.
It sounds like something may have been knocked loose, perhaps a connection? Probably it is going to take an analysis by a technician to tell you exactly what's going on. I have links for firms on both coasts, but you should be able to find an Apple Authorized Service Provider (or just someone who advertises that he/she works on Macs) in a metropolitan area like Chicago just by grabbing your Yellow Pages or local classifieds. I would think you would have a fairly competitive market there. Maybe you can find someone who does free diagnostics who will tell you what it will cost so you can decide whether its worth the cost to repair it.
    Good luck.

  • LG 3G ... camera will not focus

I recently started having a problem with my camera. All the pictures I now take are very blurry. Its like the camera will not focus. Lens is cleaned and does not have any scratches or damage. Front face camera works perfect. Anyone have any idea what could be the issue?

Hi SMoores10- Let's get that shutter snapping again! Does the camera respond to focus when taping the screen? Are you using the default Camera application? Does the camera respond the same when taking pictures with other apps like Instagram, Snapchat or 3rd party Camera app?

  • Address will not start

After I start up the computer, before I start any program, when I try to start Address Book, the icon bounces briefly on the dock and the drop-down menus appear for Address Book, but there is no address window and none will start. If I then open Mail, Address Book exits immediately and will not start. Further, although it is selected, autofill does not work on the addresses when I write an email from Mail, though the address is frequently used and the address is in the Address Book.
NOTE: Please do not suggest trashing the plist file (is there anything that and cmd/opt/p/r actually help with? I have never experienced it), it was the first useless thing I did to try and fix the problem.

Hi, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Resetting the PRAM isn't likely to do much to help your situarion, but do these two...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, *you must select your language first.)*
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then boot from the HD, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions.
It's likely the 2nd one is the one to fix it, but it's a good idea to do the first one first to ensure success.

For Rescue, go here, and DL the correct version for your FCP:
    http://pistolerapost2.com/fcprescue/
To repair the boot volume, insert your System Install disc in the SuperDrive, dbl-click on Install. When the Installer loads, don't click on anything in the Installer window, Instead, in the File menu, select Disk Utility, and run Repair Disk on the boot volume from there. (I think it's in the File menu. If not, check the other menus. It's in one of them.)
