Camera will not switch to video

The camera on both my i-phone 4s and i-pad are stuck on photo and will no longer switch to video.  This happened beginning of February.  How can I resolve this?  They both have the latest operating system except for the last i-phone update that came through this week.

Thank you.  I should have played with it more!!

  • Internet Cameras will not email captured video

I have a combination of Wireless Cameras I'm using on my network WVC2300, WVC200, WVC54GCA and WVC80N.   The WVC2300 and the WVC200 will not email the captured video when the other cameras work fine.  I have used the same configuation in all the cameras and tried many other configuations in the 2 models that will not email.  Any solutions to my problem?

    Are you serious?
I've spent $360 for a camera that cannot send e-mail alerts with captured videos? I don't need those 3rd party FTP dancing. I want those options to simply work!
People who buy such sophisticated camera should have such a home-user feature as e-mail alerts with captured videos. And most people buying such sophisticated camera know how to properly set things up. So no need to ask dumb questions If you checked that box "Motion Detection on Action: E-mail" or had smtp entered correctly or have you set Even properly.
STOP insulting my intelligence and give us all a firmware without such a huge BUG. Cisco - this is a shame. $30 camera can do what $360 Cisco camera can't.

  • IOS 7 video problem? I click on camera then video and nothing happens. It will not switch to video.

I just tried to take a video. Clicked on the camera icon, then the video option, but it won't do anything. Not sure why.

    Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.
Here is a link to their contacts with most of the information below.

A reset may help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off buttons for approximately 10-15 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons.

My iPhone 4s will not switch to landscape view when streaming a video on Facebook. It works on YouTube and safari, just not Facebook. Help?

Well I deleted the Facebook app and reinstalled the latest version to try to correct the issue and it still didnt work. I had changed a bunch of settings earlier to try and fix it and it worked for the video to be landscape but as soon as I closed out of the app and re-opened it then it quit working.

  • I have an iphone 4 and my camera will not focus.  Has anyone else had this problem?

I have an iphone 4 and my camera will not focus when I try to take a picture or a video.  Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong with it?

    Hi there jeri289,
You may find the troubleshooting steps in the article below helpful.

Camera isn't functioning or has undesired image quality
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.
Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. You can also tap to readjust focus while recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll.
Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.

My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?

  • Why my Ipad2 will not play rented video to a projector via vga adapter connection

Hi, i want to know why my ipad will not play rented video to a projector using the apple vga adapter connector.  This is just basic mirroring and there should be no problem isn't it?  Please help.
    Thank you

Technically, yes, it should be easy. However with rented videos you may be running into DRM (DIgital rights management) where you may not be allowed to play that video anywhere but on the iPad. The video could have a bit of programming in it that literally tells the HDMI or VGA output not to work.
One way to test the connection, with your ipad's camera, shoot a short video and try to mirror that. If it mirrors and the movie doesn't then it's likely that you're simply not allowed to mirror it. If it doesn't play then there may be something wrong hardware or setting wise.

I updated to 8.1.3 and my rear camera will not focus.   I erased and reinstalled and still have the problem.  Any advice?

    Hello jonesrob,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I see that your photos and video taken with the rear camera on your iPhone are not in focus after updating to iOS 8.1.3.  When you restored your iPhone, did you restore from a backup?  If so then I would like you to please restore to the factory settings by following the directions in the article below.

If you had already restored to the factory settings and the issue persists, then it's time to seek service for your iPhone.

  • Import from camera will not save

When I try to import a movie from a hand held camera (Sony Handycam HDR-HC9) with a FireWire cable iMovie will not import the video. It was working fine one minute then stopped. I have tried different recorded tapes and still nothing.
The video will nnot play back on the Mac screen and will not save the movie even though it says it is importing. I tried using my personal Mac and it worked fine on there. I know it is a problem with iMovie on my work Mac.m

Welcome to the  Discussion Forums.
Your h264 video files may not be in a format which imovie uses. Videos imported this way need to be in a format the camera supports. If however imovie recognises a camera or a camera archive it will carry out the appropriate conversion for you. You may need to copy the file/folder system from the camera rather than just the files.
