Camileo S10 - White Dead Pixel in HD modes

I purchased an S10 yesterday and have noticed a massive problem. When I shoot in any HD mode there is a dead (white) pixel that floats over the footage mid screen.
I would like clarification on this issue as quickly as possible otherwise it's back to the shop for a other camera?
Many Thanks...

Hi
Do you have this white pixel only on the monitor or on the recorded videos?
The LCD displays could have 1 or 2 dead pixels. Thats normal.
But if you have this dead pixel on the recorded videos you should contact the nearest authorized service provider. It seems that there is something wrong with the picture sensor

  • A White Dead Pixel

My almost a month old retina macbook pro has a single white dead or stuck pixel on right top side of screen. It is very noticeable during movies and photoshop. What is apple policy on a single dead pixel. Is white dead or stuck pixel? My old non retina MBP had black dead pixel. Any advice would be great. I am from nepal it may take few weeks to get it replaced even if it is replace in the first place. So i want to know single dead pixel on 3 and half week macbook pro is worth sending to have it checked for possible replacement thanks in advance.

yes i think you should do it sand it for a replacement ,because its the screen it may get worse in do time ,the best this is to sand it back for a replacement screen  ,its best to be save then sorry ,and you should do  back up to just in case you  never no they may do full resat there on it

    Hello elguajefranklin!
    Welcome to the forum.
I would like to determine if this is going to need to be serviced or if what you are seeing is normal by asking a few questions.
      1.  How long after you start recording does the dead pixel appear?
      2.  How long are you waiting between recordings?
      3.  What ISO speed is set?
If this is a time sensitive-matter, additional support options are available at Contact Us.
I never shoot video, so I admit that I'm out of my depth. But maybe someone here who does could enlighten me. I have a hard time envisioning what combination of answers to those questions could make a dead pixel normal.

  • N82 "dead pixel" during camera mode only. Please h...

    Hi,
when i activate my camera, a "dead pixel" is visible on the top area.
I have done the following checks,
    1) Its not a LCD dead pixel because it happens only during cam mode.
    2) Its not dust because the pictures taken do not have this.
Hence can someone please advise what is wrong? It bugs me.

I have it too, and it is a dead pixel on the camera CCD chip. You can identify it by following: It's only visible in photo mode, not video. When you zoom in photo mode, it moves on the screen, i.e. stays at the same place in the picture. The reason why it is visible on the screen is probably the interpolation, which makes it appear bigger than it truly is. Also, it's invisible on the resulting photos, as it gets lost in the noise. I have experimented a bit and have managed to only get one photo under very specific circumstances where I could see it on the photo when zooming closely in.

  • Camileo S10 - how to change the aspect ratio to 16:9

Does anyone know how to change the aspect ratio when making movies with the arcsoft software included with the S10!!!!!
    Won't let me select 16:9 only 4:3!!!
Not sure why as when you play the recording back directly through the telly it does it in 16:9 so I know it's being recorded in the right ratio!!

You cannot change the aspect ratio because you record at full hd 1080. The S10 records in format 1440/1080 at full hd, wich means 4/3. The S10 is not capable to record in full hd at 1920/1080 (this is 16/9 full hd). It is simple:
Camileo S10 record 1440 pixels on horizontal and 1080 pixels on vertical. The aspect ratio is 4/3.
Answer for your question: if you want to see in 16/9 format use HD2 (720p) for recording.
    Bye.

  • White dot (not dead pixel) on external LCD monitor.

    Hi all,
I recently noticed a strange situation. I've owned a MacBook Pro 13" since October, and usually run it with an external Samsung T260 LCD monitor by MiniDP to DVI. I run the monitor at its full resolution of 1920x1200.
When I arrange the monitors so that the Samsung is on top of my MBP, there is a white dot about the size of a pixel approximately 3 inches from the left and 1/2 inch from the bottom of the screen. I thought it was a dead pixel, but when I move the external monitor to be on the left of the MBP, the white dot moves to 3 inches from the top and 1/2 inch from the right.
    * The white dot does not appear when I arrange the monitors in any other configuration.
    * The white dot appears when using MiniDP to VGA adapter as well.
    * When I zoom using the modifer key+scroll method, the white dot grows bigger.
I've tried using the JScreenFix applet, but as I said, it doesn't look like a dead pixel.
Can anyone offer any other suggestions, that may involved poking around in the Video RAM space?
    Thanks,
    -Tony

    Hi all,
Just returning to provide more information:
While playing around with my screen layouts, I found that the white dot is actually part of the menu bar graphic. I arranged my monitors and captured the screen to show the placement of the dot.

I hope Apple is able to fix this in the next SW update.

  • White Specs and 1 Dead Pixel

    Hi everyone,
I'm not sure if anyone else is experiencing this but I have a week 36 iPod, without any of the audio or negative black issues but instead with tiny white specs that appear and disappear when I move the iPod in different angles. These white specs can only be seen on a black background and there are so many of them that I couldnt even count them. They also appear to be randomly appearing so they are very difficult to count.
The one dead pixel is to the right of the screen and is green. I am not too fussed about this but I wondered if any of you have the same issue?
I have looked at my iPod video and I do not seem to have the same white spec issues.
Here are some screens of my iPod touch video quality:

I have the same issue as you do. I think the technical word for this problem is a stuck pixel. In my case they are green and white and lots of them. Turn your brightness to full and then test you screen with a black background, and while you are at it show it also to a genius. I am sure they would replace it, please let us know how things went.

I've got a dead pixel (white) in the middle of my Macbook-pro retina display, what to do?
Just bought it a a month ago, and it's really anoying me!

Take it back in and gently but firmly try to persuade a senior supervisor to authorize a replacement. Had it been stuck on black, would have been easier on the persuasion, but you may get lucky.

  • White IPAD2 64 3G - White dot underneath Screen, Dead pixel

    Hi,
I am residing in Stockholm,Sweden. i bought my ipad2 the day it was released here on march 25th.
3 days back, i noticed a dead pixel, which was visible while using safari. i have downloaded the pixfix app to confirm the dead pixel. the pixifix conducts few tests by changing the colors and the dead pixel was visible as black.
how ever, i switched off the ipad and to my astonishment, i can see a small white dust/mark underneath the glass with no visible scratches or anything. since i take care of my IPAD very well.
i had the same problem with my first generation ipad after few months which apple replaced it.
since then, i called apple in stockholm, and they directed me to go to Digitall Inn their premium reseller/support. this is the place I bought my ipad2. i went in there and the support guy(daniel) try arguing that it is not a dead pixel instead scratch. and he had no answer when i showed him the white dust/mark. he said one of their technicians will analyze and get back. this was happening last saturday.
its been two days since they never updated/called me, i called up digital inn and i was told that, they will take a photograph of the issues and send to apple. it will take 3 more days to get an udpate from apple. and he also offered me to take the ipad2 back or keep it in store. i told them i need a solution to this and till then they can keep it.
i am seriously surprised by the kind of support i am getting from digital inn. i have invested a lot in this device, and when it is defective, i dont understand the kind of support i am getting from this premium resller
    Dear Apple support,
please help me to resolve this issue of ipad2.
    Subramoniam AB

Yesterday afternoon at 1.01 pm, got a call from  the technician at digital inn, and he told me that apple had indeed sent a new ipad for me and i could go there to collect it.
well, i was thrilled by the sudden turnarround of events and i rushed from my place of work to get it.
so finally a brand new one, i beilive no refurbished stuff. bought a belkin verve folio from webhallen which is next to digitall inn in stockholm.
so glad that, go every thing fast rather than after 2-3 weeks.
    hi thenextbutton.
in stockholm, sweden, they dont have any apple stores but we have to go through thier premium resellers who has stores similar to apple store. hence for any issues, we are left with no choice but work with these folks. digitall inn is one of thier premium reseller.

  • MacBook Pro w/Retina has moving dead pixel (white)

I recently purchased a MacBook Pro w/Retina and have an annoying issue that comes up from time to time. Once in a while a bright white pixel will appear in the middle of the screen. It stays put while it is there and I can drag screens around and nothing changes but then suddenly it will go away. After awhile it will popup in a new location and the same thing will happen. Any ideas what this might be? Is it an issue with my screen?

Anyone reading in 2013/2014 running Mavericks (and worth a try with earlier OS) and having this issue on an external display, I wrote about the deceptively simple solution here: http://forums.macworld.com/index.php?/topic/153791-dead-pixel-or-something-else/
Basically, in display preferences try moving the menu bar (that small white rectangle on the arrangement screen back and forth...that's it.

  • Dead pixel surrounded by white spots

I have had my Powerbook G4 for about 3 months and have noticed a dead black pixel in the lower, center portion of the screen. I believe this deadpixel is abnormal because a cluster of white light surrounds it making the area appear larger than just the dead pixel (the white cluster is most apparent under greens, blues, dark colours). The white spot surrounding the dead pixel appears to be increasing in intensity and size.
Does anyone familiar with this problem? Could the dead pixel be affecting the pixels surrounding it? Will Apple replace my screen?
    Denise.
    Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.3)

Hi Denise & Welcome to Apple Discussions --
Take a look at the following Apple Kbase article, if you haven't already: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=22194
You also might find this web page to be of interest: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=11976
Sometimes, you can get rid of dead pixels by very, very gently massaging the are of the dead pixel with your thumb -- this doesn't always work, of course and you need to rub very, very gently.
Bottom line: if you're unhappy with how the screen looks because of the dead pixel(s), you need to take it in to have Apple look at it to determine what can be done. No one on here can make that call or can accurately predict what Apple will say.
    Good luck.

PS You may have heard that some PowerBooks suffered from a known problem of faint white spots in the display, see http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86632 But, as you can see, this issue was with PowerBooks produced a while back (and at least 2 or 3 revisions ago, and to the best of my knowledge the problem has been resolved.

  • IPad 3 white dot on start up screen not dead pixels?

    Hi everyone,
I just bought my new iPad around a week ago and everytime I turn it on I'm getting like 1 or 2 white dots on the loading screen around the apple logo.
They can't be dead pixels cause they kind flicker and disappear anyone notice this and is it normal?
    Thanks,

    Anto2012-
I'm not sure what the little dots are, but I see that when I have Apps on more than one page of the Home screen, there are more dots near the bottom of the screen.  It appears that the dot that is brighter indicates which page you are looking at.  If you only have one page of Apps, then there is only one dot with something like a tiny magnifying glass on its left.
If you swipe to the right, you bring up the keyboard for the search function.  When you swipe back to the left, you can see that the magnifying glass is bright, and then see it jump back to the right-hand dot.
At least that is what I observe on my iPad 2!

  • NX Pro bad/dead pixels -white, blue many sizes

    Hi
I just got a NXPro webcam.
Its has lot of dead pixels in white , some in blue.
    The pixels are all sizes.
    Is that normal ???
I had a old cheap cam which did not have any bad pixels .
Should i return this ?and ask new
    Thanks in advance

Actually all sensors have defective pixels masking algorithm, the choice in which algorithm to use depends on the backend chipset support.
And its unit dependent. If this particular webcam has it, it might not necessarily meant that the other unit will have it. And position of the defective pixels will not be the same in all webcams even if its of the same model.
Webcam NX Pro is a pretty good webcam, in my personal opinion. Its more of the middle range. Quality is not that bad, at least to me.
If you do notice that there are some bad pixels, give it some time for the webcam to settle down. Prob min or so, before you start to use it. If you move the webcam, again, give it min or so, to settle down. That is the time for the software algo to work.

  • Dead Pixel Found in iPad2, engraved, 64GB, white, wi-fi only model

Hi. I received my iPad2 last thursday (April 28th). Today while playing, I noticed a dead pixel. Where I live, we don't have Apple stores (I had to order it to ship to the US, and then a relative sent it to me). It is engraved, so what should I do? I'm incredibly angry. After saving so much and waiting for so long to have it in my hands, now I have to ship it again and wait for another month?!

You're not near an Apple store, so what did you expect you'd have to do?
While it's frustrating to receive a product that has a flaw, I'm not sure what you expect us users on this forum to do for you.
You have two options:  1) keep the iPad with it's dead pixel
                                        2) send it back to the US and see if it will be replaced.
