Campus Data Collection on idle state

Hi, Clarke. Please help me with a problem about campus data collection on lms 3.2
I tried to run a data collection on campus manager home page. but ever i did i got idle state, and ANIserver have the flag busy.
I read in your answer to other guys and you say there are a patch. how i can get that patch?

You need to upgrade to Campus 5.2.1.  You can do this from Common Services > Software Center > Software Update.

  • Campus Data Collection

Is there a way to run Campus data collection immedeatetly as oppose to running it from the the schedule? I can't seem to find this option in LMS 3.2.

The option is available from the Campus Manager home page as seen on the screenshot below.

I have devices that are "discovered" via Device Discovery, but do not show up in Campus Data Collection. The devices that do not show up, are "reachable" in Device Discovery. I thought all devices in Discovery that are reachable, were sent to Data Collection? I have no filters in Data Collection. It should allow anything.
Any ideas why Data Collection is not importing those devices?

you could watch the Discrepancy reports on Campus Manager, maybe it could help you, it would be a duplicate hostname or IP address.
it happened to me and it was because i had a duplicate hostname

  • Campus data collection problem

I installed this patch for UT support for Nexus 7k in my LMS3.2 (Solaris 10)
At the end it asked to reintit the camput manager database, after the reinit I ran the data colletion but it found zero
devices. Data collection ran again this morning at its sehcudule but it still show zero devices.
    Any clue?

  • LMS 3.2 CM, data collection stays running forever

    Hi There
I have a customer who has LMS 3.2 Solaris. His CM, data collection, is in a running state for more than two days.
I am almost sure this is a bug, do you have any advice for me please.

    see this thread:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/message/1322774#1322774
perhaps you are hitting BugId CSCtd49439
    CSCtd49439            Bug Details
Data Collection never completes, and UT acquisition  cannot run
    Symptom:
Campus Manager Data Collection does  not stop.  It is reported as always
    running in
Topology  Services.  Additionally, User Tracking acquisition does not run due
    to  XML files
    being written.
    Conditions:
This will occur if there are any standalone Access Points being  managed by
    Campus
Manager.  Other devices can also cause this  (e.g. old 1200 series switches).
    Workaround:
Filter out standalone Access Points and other affected devices from  Campus
    Data Collection
under Campus Manager > Administration  > Data Collection > Exclude Devices.
A patch is available  by contacting TAC.

I am running LMS 3.2 and Campus Manager 5.2.1.  My data collection in Campus  Manger for my devices does not complete and runs indefinitely.  It has been hung in the "running" state for the past week and will not complete.  I only way I found to get it out of the "running" state is to reset the ANIServer service and reboot the server.  I have had this problem since I have upgraded to LMS 3.2.  Does anyone have any input of this issue or possible solutions?

The data collection hung again as expected over the weekend.  The ANI.log file grew to 1.8 GB again.  It is to large for me to open it.  I could try to split it up into smaller files.  What should be my next course of action?

  • Campus Manager No Data Collected from Network

Just intergraged CiscoWorks with ACS.  Now when we select Campus Manager | Visualization | Topology Services we get the following error message:
    No Data Collected from Network
1.Devices are not availiable from DCR or
2.You have not performed data collection at least once
When we look at Common Services | Devices and Credentials | Device Discovery the total devices discovered and the devices reachable indicate there are devices that were found.
We could see devices fine before the ACS intergration but now, we cannot see any devices.
    Any thoughts?

The devices (original clients) that I defined are as follows:
    10.0.1.*
    10.0.10.*
    10.0.2.*
I was able to see these clients.  Deleted the above clients from ACS and added:
    10.0.1-10.*
So that I can see the above clients and others (10.0.3.*, 10.0.4.*,etc).
I can still see the original clients only.  The others show up in Devices not configured in ACS report.
What do I need to do?  What did I miss?

  • Campus Manager data collection

    Hi
I am getting all the cisco devices discovered in DCR but missing one of the 6513 in the data collection which is already there in DCR.It is also missing in the topology diagram. However this 6513 is reflected in all other modules like DFM , RME and Cisco view. What could be the problem.
    Sanjay

Does the device have cdp enabled? If you add it as a seed device does it show up in CM topo services?

  • Problem Topology Data collection LMS 4.1

    Hi there,
I have an issue with the lms 4.1 Topology Data Collection. In the Topo Data Collect under Inventory > Dashboards > Device Status > Collection Summary, there are only 2 devices succeeded and 0 device fail. but I have more 500 device in state managed. I run Inventory Collections but the number doesn't change.
    Inventory Collection          534                13  02 May 2012, 11:07 CEST Idle          Schedule
    Config Archive                         507               14  02 May 2012, 09:51 CEST Running          Schedule
    Topology Data Collection               2               0  02 May 2012, 11:11 CEST  Idle          Schedule
I have read others discussions but no one has the same problem or similar problem. The only possible solution is to reset the ANI db but I'm not sure if it it's the best solution.
    Any ideas?
    Thaks for help

I confirm that Martin. Good spotting!. I just noticed it in a server I installed yesterday. These 2 lines were added to the hosts file.
    127.0.0.1       localhost
    127.0.0.1   LMS4
A bit silly for both, since these entries were allready in the hosts file, done by the windows install I think
    127.0.0.1       localhost
    ::1             localhost
    Cheers,

  • LMS 4.2 Topology Data Collection Issue

    Hi there,
i have an issue with the lms 4.2 Topology Data Collection. After installation the Topology Data Collection was running normaly, but since first server reload the Topo Data Collect under Inventory > Dashboards > Device Status > Collection Summary is "frozen". It only shows the following content from first run:
Topology Data Collection    193    0    Not Available     Running    Schedule
Is there any option to stop this process elsewhere? I cannot find anything under jobs in running state or so. Clicking on Schedule only give me the option to start data collection, but lms always returns that the process is running.
    Thanks for help.

    Hi,
    i have reseted the ANI db using NMSROOT\bin\perl.exe NMSROOT\bin\dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=ani dmprefix=ANI
    Everything is set to 0:
Topology Data Collection      0 0 Not Available                          Running Schedule
UT Major Acquisition            0 (0 End hosts 0 IP Phones) 0      Not Available Idle Schedule
VRF Collection                    0 0                                              Not Available Idle Schedule
But Topology Data Collection is still frozen to "Running" state....

  • Data acquisition in a state machine

I've recently learned how to implement state machines, but I have a question that I haven't been able to find an aswer to.
    Question:
How do I record uninterupted data (presently i'm using the DAQ assistant to record a single channel at 10kS/s at 1kS intervals) without interfering with my state machine?
    Background:
I have a time sensitive test setup (measuring pressure in a rocket chamber), and I'm using labview to both record a single pressure transducer as well as operate the valves (O2, N2, igniter, etc).  I'm using a state machine Labview architecture (just learned how).  Presently, the DAQ assistant sits in the "Idle" state, and timers (valves need to be turned on at specific times) and manual buttons control when the other states are activated.  I have a 10ms timer controlling how often each state is run, and this is the root of my concern.
    Main concerns:
    I'm worried that:
    1)  I'm forced to change my data recording to 10ms intervals to match the 10ms timer, and
    2)  The 10ms timer will interrupt my data recording when it's in another state.
It's very important that the pressure data is recorded without interruption but that I have high time resolution in controlling my valves as well.
    Thoughts:
    1)  Maybe I put the 10ms timer in the "Idle" state only, and this way the other states won't interrupt the data acqusition
    2)  Maybe there is a way to completely isolate the state machine for controlling the valves and the data acqusition.  I'm not sure how to do this.
    3)  People on the forums have been talking about Queuing their data acqusition, but I'm not sure how this would benefit my situation.
Thanks to everyone for their feedback!

The data acquisition and state machine timer do not have to be equal, you should however have the same data write rate as you have data read rate, otherwise over the course of long running programs you can build up a large buffer of data to be written using a lot of memory, or lose data.
Your data acquisition should be continuous, the most common way of doing this is every time you receive data write it to a queue, then when you are in other states except your data write stage you simply build up data in the queue that is to be written when you enter the write state again.
Think of it as traffic reaching a set of lights:
The traffic represents the data acquisition, there is a constant flow of it always coming through, the state of your state machine is the lights, green is the data write state clearing the queue, red is when in any other state, letting the traffic build up behind the lights.
It is just important that the light is green long enough to let the traffic not build up too much, otherwise you have a jam.
EDIT: For the basics of how queues work, look at the Queue basics example from the example finder.

  • Report Manager - Data collection

    Hi,
I'm having problems with data collection on a number of servers.
Essentially, I've configured data logging on a number of servers
by creating a job in the 'Manage jobs' window, using the task type
'data logging' and running it against a number of hosts.
Unfortunately, when I look at the 'data collection' window via report
manager, a number of host entries have an excamation mark attached
which implies that data has not been collected. If I look at the attribute editor for one of the logged entries on an affected server, the history tab
clearly states that the 'Save History as Disk_File' is ticked.
    Any ideas?

I have also seen this issue. Some of these issues were fixed by checking
DNS. For data collection to work both forward and reverse DNS must work
for the agent. If there is a mismatch or missing DNS it doesn't work.
If there is a mismatch in DNS sometimes a re-discovery is required.
