Campus Manager data collection

Hi
I am getting all the cisco devices discovered in DCR but missing one of the 6513 in the data collection which is already there in DCR.It is also missing in the topology diagram. However this 6513 is reflected in all other modules like DFM , RME and Cisco view. What could be the problem.
Sanjay

Does the device have cdp enabled? If you add it as a seed device does it show up in CM topo services?

  • Report Manager - Data collection

    Hi,
I'm having problems with data collection on a number of servers.
Essentially, I've configured data logging on a number of servers
by creating a job in the 'Manage jobs' window, using the task type
'data logging' and running it against a number of hosts.
Unfortunately, when I look at the 'data collection' window via report
manager, a number of host entries have an excamation mark attached
which implies that data has not been collected. If I look at the attribute editor for one of the logged entries on an affected server, the history tab
clearly states that the 'Save History as Disk_File' is ticked.
    Any ideas?

I have also seen this issue. Some of these issues were fixed by checking
DNS. For data collection to work both forward and reverse DNS must work
for the agent. If there is a mismatch or missing DNS it doesn't work.
If there is a mismatch in DNS sometimes a re-discovery is required.

  • Performance Report Manager Data Collection Issues

I have an agent running and collecting data in a circular file.... history.log
Data Collection has failed approximately 6 days ago without warning. I have tried to find out the issue and have not had any success.
If I open the Data Collection Window in PRM I see a Yellow triangle beside the hostname:port.
If you can provide any information as to what to look for, please reply.

history.log may be corrupted. If you run it through ccat to flatten it does it show any recent (i.e. newer than 6 days) entries?
If ccat gives errors then just move it out of the way (i.e. rename it to history.log.busted) and restart your Agent. A fresh log will be created. Give it a couple hours to make a couple flushes of data to your SunMC Server and see if PRM works.

    Mike

  • When or How does the time stamp on Report Manager / Data Collection change

    Hi,
I have been waiting since 10am waiting for data to be available. Unfortunately, the Sun MC has not updated the time stamp. I am unable to create graphs for the machines I setup this morning? Any ideas on how to post data faster than waiting forever for Sun MC server?
    thanks

    Hi,
Clearly a bug. You can try changing your Tools|Preferences|Database|NLS|Timestamp Format to match the Date Format as a workaround. Otherwise why not upgrade to the lastest production SQL Developer release (3.1.07.42)? The bug does not occur there.

  • AniServer Campus Manager problem

Hi I recently ran a Device patch update and ever since I have had major problems with Campus Manager.
I figured it was Aniserver related So i have done the following so far:
1- I reinitialised the ANI Database
2 - I replaced the aniserv.properties with the .orig file.
Still the problems exist even if i managed to get the Aniserver started campus manager data collection would have problems and intermittent error messages when trying to access Campus Manager admin pages.
    3 - I decided to upgrade to LMS3.2 SP1
It seemed to be ok with data collection but then when I came in to work today it hadnt run any scheduled aquistions when i went tinto the admin pages I had the error messages again unable to get properties from server.
4 I decided to try a complete restore of the database to a date before the initial device package update.
But I still have problems with the aniserver Failed to run.
    Please Help!!
    Kind regards Dean
    Here is the Ani log

2011/06/23 13:11:16 main ani ERROR AniLoadConfiguration: AniStaticConfigException: Failed to construct or verify database

Seems to be working fine now I used the info in the following link to reinitialise the ani.db  https://supportforums.cisco.com/thread/2083513
Using this alone did not fix it opt/CSCOpx/bin/perl /opt/CSCOpx/bin/dbRestoreOrig.pl dsn=ani dmprefix=ANI
But doing this as well seemed to sort it:
First, set the CiscoWorks Daemon Manager service to Manual, and reboot the server.  When the server reboots, delete NMSROOT\databases\ani\ani.log if it exists.  Then run:
    NMSROOT\objects\db\win32\dbsrv9 -f NMSROOT\databases\ani\ani.db
After that, set the Daemon Manager service back to Automatic, and reboot again

  • LMS 3.2 CM, data collection stays running forever

    Hi There
I have a customer who has LMS 3.2 Solaris. His CM, data collection, is in a running state for more than two days.

perhaps you are hitting BugId CSCtd49439
    CSCtd49439            Bug Details
Data Collection never completes, and UT acquisition  cannot run
    Symptom:
Campus Manager Data Collection does  not stop.  It is reported as always
    running in
Topology  Services.  Additionally, User Tracking acquisition does not run due
    to  XML files
    being written.
    Conditions:
This will occur if there are any standalone Access Points being  managed by
    Campus
Manager.  Other devices can also cause this  (e.g. old 1200 series switches).
    Workaround:
Filter out standalone Access Points and other affected devices from  Campus
    Data Collection
under Campus Manager > Administration  > Data Collection > Exclude Devices.
A patch is available  by contacting TAC.

    Hello,

"I understand I have to open a tac case to get it but the problem is that; being Cisco Gold Partners, my company has a limit on the numbers of tac cases to be opened and there are lots of patches and software that is only available through tac? can I unsertand why? IS this a Cisco Policy?"
Yes, it is and this is an old discussion with Cisco and I stopped it sometimes in the past; The only argument for you might be - "it is the same for all Cisco partners...."
It has some aspects, I am not sure if Cisco is aware about..
    See this situation:
If you have an issue discussing it here on the forum e.g. with jclarke and it reveals to be a LMS bug and jclarke writes a patch for it, it is clear to open a TAC Service Request to get the patch (the patch is not tested yet and TAC needs to have the possibility to keep at least a statistical logging about the issues).
But know the ridiculous part starts - the case will get accounted against your account because the bug ID yet exists. edit: Only  Bug IDs generated during the follow-up of a case won't get accounted. Only if a NEW Bug ID is generated during the follow-up of a Service Request will result in the fact that the SR is not accounted. So beside the fact that you have to deal with parts of LMS which are not working you receicve a kind of penaltiy for helping in making LMS functioning correct....
Once, I stopped informing Cisco about the issues I have found within LMS because of this penalty, but when jclarke started in this forum it was worth again announcing them and discussing those things...- because there is real help and a prospective solution
But I think it is somewhat embarrasing for Cisco to put an imposition on people/companies who found bugs instead of giving somekind of reward or only a short  "Thank you...."

I am running LMS 3.2 and Campus Manager 5.2.1.  My data collection in Campus  Manger for my devices does not complete and runs indefinitely.  It has been hung in the "running" state for the past week and will not complete.  I only way I found to get it out of the "running" state is to reset the ANIServer service and reboot the server.  I have had this problem since I have upgraded to LMS 3.2.  Does anyone have any input of this issue or possible solutions?

The data collection hung again as expected over the weekend.  The ANI.log file grew to 1.8 GB again.  It is to large for me to open it.  I could try to split it up into smaller files.  What should be my next course of action?

  • Campus Manager No Data Collected from Network

Just intergraged CiscoWorks with ACS.  Now when we select Campus Manager | Visualization | Topology Services we get the following error message:
    No Data Collected from Network
1.Devices are not availiable from DCR or
2.You have not performed data collection at least once
When we look at Common Services | Devices and Credentials | Device Discovery the total devices discovered and the devices reachable indicate there are devices that were found.
We could see devices fine before the ACS intergration but now, we cannot see any devices.
    Any thoughts?

The devices (original clients) that I defined are as follows:
    10.0.1.*
    10.0.10.*
    10.0.2.*
I was able to see these clients.  Deleted the above clients from ACS and added:
    10.0.1-10.*
So that I can see the above clients and others (10.0.3.*, 10.0.4.*,etc).
I can still see the original clients only.  The others show up in Devices not configured in ACS report.
What do I need to do?  What did I miss?

  • Cisco Works - Campus Data Collection

Cisco Works - Common Services 3.0.3, Campus Manager 4.0.3, RME 4.0.3
I have devices that are "discovered" via Device Discovery, but do not show up in Campus Data Collection. The devices that do not show up, are "reachable" in Device Discovery. I thought all devices in Discovery that are reachable, were sent to Data Collection? I have no filters in Data Collection. It should allow anything.
Any ideas why Data Collection is not importing those devices?

you could watch the Discrepancy reports on Campus Manager, maybe it could help you, it would be a duplicate hostname or IP address.
it happened to me and it was because i had a duplicate hostname

  • Performance Report Manager not collecting data

I'm running SMC 3.6 with the Performance report manger module installed on the server and hosts. The hosts are logging data to their circular file. But when I open the Report Manager then Data-Data Collection there are no hosts listed in the "Hosts with Data Collection Enabled" or "Hosts with Data Collection Disabled" fields.

PRM is sensitive to host naming issues. If your SunMC Agent resolves it's IP backwards to "hostA.mydomain.com" and your SunMC Server resolves that same IP backwards to "hostA" (or if the situation is reversed) then you'll have problems.
If you do find a mismatch (but SunMC is otherwise running fine - indicating the security is still valid) simply try deleting the icon for a host and recreating it with the proper name. I.E. erase the icon you made for "hostA" and replace it with an icon for "hostA.mydomain.com". It will look and feel the same in the Console, but PRM will treat it differently.
Note that PRM only collects data from the Agent every hour, so it may take that long for your changes to show any effect.
