Camtasia recording of Flash CS3

I develop training tutorials for Flash and have run into a
problem that I hope someone can help me with. I have not noticed
this in previous versions of Flash but something is just not right
and I cannot put my finger on it. I have tried different versions
and types of screen recorders but they all produce the same
results.
Which leads me to my question.
I have upgraded to Flash CS3 and noticed that when doing my
screen recordings the side panels, which hold the tools for Flash
are not being recorded. When I say tools I am referring to the
library, behaviors, components, etc. These are all part of the
capture screen but all I am seeing on the recording is a gray box
area. I tried it on my earlier version of Flash and the recorders
work fine.
When I drag the tools to the center of the stage, I can see
the tool properties themselves but I cannot see the tabs that allow
me to move between the tool palettes. This is very frustrating as
the recording are pretty much useless without the ability to see
the tool palettes or the tabs.
I am using Windows XP Professional
NVIDIA Geoforce 8800 GTX graphics card
4 GB's of Ram.
Intel Core 2 CPU (2.13 Ghz)
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I have spent
many hours trying to figure this out and have not made any
progress. I would like to start including ActionScript 3.0
tutorials on my web site but until I work this problem out I cannot
get recording that are of a good enought quality to post.
Thanks for any help.

I have found the solution.....Thanks everyone for reading the
post.

  • FLASH CS3[AS3] – MICROPHONE – RECORD AND SAVE AS WAVE FILE

    HI,
I need solution for this one.Can we record, play and save an audio using flash CS3 astion script.
It should be something like this:http://justflash.byethost12.com/microphone/microphone_recandsave1.html
I have searched for the soluiton but i found it in flash cs5.I need it in flash cs3.
    Looking for the solution.
    Thank You

    Hello Jeff,
    From the LabVIEW Help description:
Sound File Write Simple (Windows, Linux)
Writes data from an array of waveforms to a .wav file. This VI automatically opens, writes to, and closes the .wav file. Windows You must have DirectX 8.0 or later to use this VI. Linux You must have the Open Sound System (OSS) driver to use this VI.
So, the data input to Sound File Write Simple.vi is an array of waveforms. However, if you only have one waveform, you can build an array that contains only your single waveform using the Build Array VI. As described in the LabVIEW Help description:
    Build Array
Concatenates multiple arrays or appends elements to an n-dimensional array. You also can use the Replace Array Subset function to modify an existing array.
So, for example, you could run your single waveform into the Build Array function and get an array of waveforms containing only your waveform. You could then wire this array of waveforms to the Sound File Write Simple.vi. This is shown in the image below.

  • Deactivate flash cs3

I am trying to deactivate Flash CS3 on my laptop so that I
can install and use it it on my desktop machine. All I can find on
this subject is the instruction to select "deactivate" from the
"help" menu - but the help menu in my version of Flash CS3 doesn't
    contain this option.
Is there another way to deactivate Flash?
The options in my menu are as follows:
    - Flash Help
    - Help Resources Online
    - Whats new in Flash CS3
    - Flash exchange
    - Manage Extensions...
    - Flash support Center
    - Flash Developer Center
    - Adobe online forums
    - Adobe Training
    - Registration...
    - Download elicense...
    - Return elicense...
    - Updates...
    - About Adobe Flash CS3 Professional

I am putting this here because I had a lot of trouble finding help with this issue also.
    1) You may be working with a Volume License (did you get it from you school/business or did you buy it retail?).
If this is the case, you DO NOT need to deactivate/reactivate anything with your version of CS3, all you need to do is uninstall/reinstall.
    2) If you are unsure, I found that the Help Chat was relatively pain-free: http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/, just choose your topic and select "Chat with an agent". They will need the serial number (hopefully there is a slip of paper in the back of your CD case with the number or else you recorded it somewhere) and they will be able to tell you what kind of license you have.
Note: This only applies to when the Deactivate option is absent, and not when it is greyed out, which seems to be a different issue.

  • Import Swf file corrupts in Flash CS3

    Hi,
I have recorded my desktop activity in "My Screen Recorder
Pro" and export the movie as swf file. While playing it on Flash
player 9, I found NO problem at all but when I import it into Flash
CS3 (or Flash 8) to embed with my project the file get corrupted
and I could see black solids squares in between. How do I get clean
swf file which is just fine when playing in Flash player?
    Raju Sachania

Probably because you used _root within your scrollbar code.
    If that's the
case you can fix by setting lockroot to true, within your
    scroll bar swf.
Just place a this._lockroot = true; as the first line in
    frame 1's code.
That being said, it's better to simply avoid using _root.

  • Captivate 3 and Flash CS3 under Vista 64

    Hello,
I'm having a problem with using Adobe Captivate 3 and Adobe Flash CS3 in tandem to get my Captivate project in a file format accepted by online video sharing sites such as YouTube. Since Captivate 3 does not have an option to export to .avi or any other accepted movie file format, I thought that I would export the Captivate project to Flash, and then export it to the avi file format through Flash. However, whenever I select "File>Export>Project To>Flash CS3," I get the following error in Flash:
    quote:
The import did not finish because an unknown error occurred
I could not find any resources that pertained to my particular problem. I am using Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit, with a different directory structure than XP. In the Adobe Developer Center article " Exporting your Adobe Captivate project to Flash," it references a certain "RDMFISTUB.DLL" file that I cannot locate on my system. Could this problem be caused by incompatibilities with Vista?
My end goal is to post a Captivate project comprised of mostly full-motion recording to YouTube. If there is another way to do this that doesn't involve installing any 3rd-party software, I'm open to that as well.
    Thank you

    You said...
    quote:
The much bigger obstacle is that when I export a Captivate
project that incorporates full-motion recordings with static slides
displaying a text caption to Flash and then to .mov, I lose the
full-motion recordings: they are replaced with a blank white or
black screen (whatever the background color is set to be). The
audio is gone too. I don't know what is causing this, but I would
really appreciate any help you could lend me concerning this.
    I don't have a solution -
maybe someone else here does - but would offer an
    observation ...
Keeping in mind that I avoid monkeying with my own Captivate
projects in Flash because of the various inconsistencie, some of
which you have seen ... I am hopeful that the Captivate team does
something to address the handling of full-motion slides. We all
know that they are created as AVI clips which are then converted to
SWF as separate slides, so it seems logical to me that there must
be a way to offer the source, that is, the AVI or a FLA either of
which would then be handled separately inside Flash (for those who
like to do their tinkering in that environment).
In the meantime, you might try to change the timing of the
(errant) full-motion slide a bit. Like, perhaps add or subtract a
tenth of a second to it or otherwise change its properties so that
the import doesn't end up as a blank. Just thinking out loud in
trouble-shooting mode... come to think of it, when the project is
published to SWF/HTM, each full-motion slide is published as a
separate SWF file. Would it be possible to publish the project,
then try to bring that SWF back into Captivate as an animation?
It's late here and I'm getting into fuzzy-thinking time, so if that
doesn't make sense, it wouldn't surprise me.

  • Adobe Flash CS3 help needed

    I need help very badly....
Here is the reader's digest version.....
I purchased a flash website template for my local band to try
to elimate the pain of creating one from scratch. I never used
Adobe Flash CS3 before, but figured I could figure out enough
(through reading & forums) to change what I needed to
personalize my site. Well, I have spent countless hours learning,
and changing, and have come up with a pretty sweet website using
this template. I now have only 2 problems left that I can not
figure out no matter what I try.
One of my pages is set up so that fans can listen to and/or
save any of 3 songs that I have recorded in MP3 format. I have
basically 3 columns set up: the 1st column has the song name, the
2nd has speaker icons, and the 3rd column has floppy disk icons. I
want to be able to click the speaker graphic, and play the MP3
song, or click the floppy disk graphic and enable any fan to save
the file. I figure there has to be a fairly simple way to do this,
but I sure can't figure it out, and I'm starting to pull my hair
    out. Please help....
Remember, I have just basic Adobe CS3 skills so a description
of what to do has to be fairly easy to understand....

  • Rendering HD Video Correctly for Flash (CS3 version)

    Hi everyone,
For the LIFE of me I cannot figure out what the "magic selections" are for converting my HD video into a flash mp4 video are. I can get the mp4, but flash doesn't like it.
Before I continue, here are the specs:
    Programs:
    Premiere Pro CS3
    Flash Professional CS3
    Equipment:
Canon XHA1s HD camcorder, recording at 1080p @60i
    Problems I am facing:
I can convert using the H.264 codec to create a HD mp4 file, but flash will not play it.
    My Workflow:
Okay, I will start from the beginning.
-I start a new project in Premiere.
    -I select "HD1080i 60i" as my format.
-I capture video off of the camcorder in premiere.
-The video looks great, and is definately in HD quality. I pull the captured video into my source pane, then set my in and out points.
-I insert those points into my program pane.
-I export my video using adobe media encoder.
-I select H.264 as my format.
    -I select a custom preset.
-I make the size of my frame half the size of the original file.
-I set the framerate to 30.
-The TV standard is set to NTSC.
    -Then I open Flash CS3.
-I follow the tutorial exactly given by Tom Green on this webpage: http://www.layersmagazine.com/hd-video-in-flash-professional-cs3.html
-When I preview my video file, an error message pops up saying that the URL has to be an fla file!
    Ugh...
ALSO my files are absolutely HUGE!!! this file for instance became about 86 megs!! Is there any way to downsize without loosing a huge amount of quality?
SO...if you want to try to correct me, be my guest. OR if you just have a way of doing it that works please, do share! I'm getting pretty frustrated with this thing...
    Thanks in advance!

If you're trying to create a flash video, you need to create an FLV not an MP4.  While H264 is readable by the latest versions of Flash, the normal extension for h264 Flash is F4V.  MP4 in CS3 is primarily used to create blu-ray or perhaps XDCam files.
Why not output FLV and be done with it?

  • How do I use a Flex swc in Flash CS3?

My engineering team has used Flex to create a nice little swc
for me to use inside of Flash CS3, but now I'm having trouble
finding any documentation on how to actually import it. Placing it
in the Components folder doesn't work, as it's not recognized by

possible to use swcs from Flex in Flash? Thank you very much for

  • Problem with FLVPlayer in Flash CS3 (need to save out as Actionscript 3.0 SWf file)

I am using Flash CS3 and am trying to publish a SWf file that
makes use of the "FLVPlayback" component. I need for this SWF file
to be published as an Actionscript 3.0 file, so I have set my
publish settings to Flash Player 9.0 and Actionscript 3.0, but keep
    getting an error as follows:
"WARNING: The component 'FLVPlayback' requires ActionScript
    2.0."
Has anyone encountered this?? I am doing something wrong? I'm
pretty comfortable within Actionscript/Flash 2.0, but am only
beginning my first steps into the relam of CS3 and AS3.
I have also attached a screenshot of the files that represent
my FLVPlayback component (or so I assume). (see this link for

Gotcha. You must have started the document in AS2, then
    changed the
publish settings. Each version of the language has its own
    version of the
FLVPlayback Component (written in the relevant language).
    Start over and
compare two compleley new FLA documents: make one for AS3 and
    one for AS2.
Open the Components panel and note the differences between
    the two. There
are a different set of Components depending on the language
    chosen for the
document. Drag the FLVPlayback Component from the Components
    panel in an
AS3 document, and you'll have the AS3 version.

  • Error embed / insert Flash CS3 9.0 swf in Acrobat 8.1.2

Goal: embed Flash swf file in Acrobat pdf.
Software: Flash CS3 9.0, Acrobat Pro 8.1.2, Mac OS 10.5.2 (all updates applied as available 3/27/08). If it matters: Quicktime Player 7.4.1. All swf files are associated to open with Flash Player 9 (9,0,115,0).
Hardware: PowerMac Dual 2GHz G5, 9.5 GB RAM
Error Description: This error is seen on 2 out of 3 PowerMacs; the 3rd PowerMac will inexplicably work. Here is what is done to receive error: Open pdf document in Acrobat. Select Movie Tool from Advanced Editing Toolbar, choose swf file from Desktop (pdf file is also saved on Desktop to eliminate network considerations). All defaults are retained in dialog window, when "OK" is pressed, status message "Initializing authoring system" appears and remains indefinitely. "Cancel" is pressed and produces following error message window: "Cannot create the movie annotation because the movie could not be loaded. This can occur if the file cannot be found or the URL is unreachable (make sure proxy server settings are correct)."
Adobe Support claims Leopard incompatibility with embedded Quicktime 7.3.1 (I have updated to 7.4.1). Also, AS recommended file association of swf to Flash Player exclusively. Have taken all actions recommended...still have problem.
    Anyone have any ideas?

I believe that the latest version of QuickTime which you no doubt have installed does not support the latest version of Flash (9.0). Since Acrobat depends on QuickTime for multimedia in Acrobat 8 Professional, this feature breaks.
What needs to happen is for the next version of Acrobat to support Flash directly, not using QuickTime.

  • Quicktime movie export from Flash CS3 is skipping frame.

When I try to export Quicktime movie from Flash CS3, the
resulting mov file is skipping frames. i.e.: The movie is showing
    frame number 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 7, 7, 10, 11, 12, 12, 12, 15
    etc...
As you can see the frame number 7 is repeated 3 times and
frame 8 and 9 are nowhere to be found.
The last configuration I used is 960x540, Sorenson video 3
medium quality, 25 fps, keyframe every 25 frames. 6400 kbits/s.
I tried various configurations, with different codecs and even
with keyframe all frames and I always get simillar problems.
Anyone have an idea what is going on, and how to fix this?
    Thank you,
    Olivier.

The QT exporter in Flash is honestly my least favorite
feature - not the feature itself but how it
works (or how it doesn't work in some cases). For me it is
almost unusable unless you have a very
short timeline, small stage, lower frame rate - like AS
generated effects or something - otherwise,
for true frame accuracy to video output - it is not reliable
enough and not fast enough for any real
    world production environment.
So typically for me - I love SWF2Video (www.flashants.com) as
it takes any SWF and makes it into an
AVI that is frame accurate no matter what the frame rate is -
quite incredible - enough so that I
always felt it should have been bundled with Flash (as well
    as Wacom tablets).
Harmony is an incredible product - as is SOLO and TBS (Toon
Boom mStudio) - each of those programs
are dedicated animation programs designed for output to video
    - Flash has a lot of hats to fill and
it was never really designed for animation to video even
though many of us have found it suitable
for all intents and purposes as an animation program for full
    production.
But all in all - the quicktime exporter doesn't really
deliver how we would expect it too I am sorry
to say - I only hope it works as well as it does on the Mac
(Mac users could always choose to export
to Quicktime Video but not PC users).
For now if I am exporting to video I keep it all on the
timeline or nested in Graphic symbols or use
    the SWF2Video tool.
    hope this helps.

  • How to add special characters in Flash CS3

Hi, i need the help of some flash guru… these last weeks we were working with cloversites.com to build a community website… the interface is awesome etc etc however we in Malta have eight special characters (GCZ with a dot on top of them and an H with a second strikethrough). Those at cloversites wrestled with the problem, they could see the characters on their computers but when they entered the text in the site, flash couldn't render the special characters. Here is their message:
I am extremely sorry about this, but we were unable to add in your characters. We attempted to add them into our software but they did not work. We worked on it all morning and realized that we need an extra add-on for our keyboards. Adding special characters is nothing new to us and have answered this request for many of our international users. For some reason, the Maltese characters did not work in our sites. For example, our "option-G" is the copyright symbol so it will need to be transferred over to international characters.
Unfortunately, we thing that this has to do with Adobe Flash CS3. The software allowed me to embed the characters, but we were unable to render them on the web. Which led us to think it had to do with the version Adobe is running and its inability to render the text through its software on the web. None of the characters worked on the web, and it looks like its just an Adobe bug. So we are able to type and use the Maltese characters, but Adobe Flash is having trouble with them.
Does anybody know of any possible solution?

  • How to create a comment form in Flash CS3

I am trying to create an add comment form in Flash cs3. I
have the background design and the text input areas and sub mit
buttons. But how do I get the submit button to add the comment to a
different area in the same flash file? My inputs and buttons are on
the left side of the stage and my display comments is on the right
side of the stage. How do I connect the two?

The user types something into a text input space and when the
user then uses the submit button, you want that same, user entered,
text to display in another, different, text area? If that's the
case then make that second text area a dynamic textfield and set
its text property to the text property of the input text
    space.
