Can 2 apple ID's be shared with family.

I have been using my wife's email address and apple ID so when one of us purchases an app we can both use it.  Is there another way that I can create my own apple ID and use my email address, but still be able share app purchases?  I just updated to the new operating system and I am prompted to sign in with an apple ID or create an ID, so I feel like this would be a good time to make the separation.
I am frustated with itunes ability to manage multiple devices in one library.  So, I just created a new library on my pc.  I haven't started messing with the cloud, but I forsee similar frustration of managing multiple devices, which is another reason I want a separate ID.  Please advise.

I am frustated with itunes ability to manage multiple devices in one library.
How so?
I've synced an iPod with video, an iPhone, and an iPad with my iTunes library with no problems. Each device has its own sync preferences with iTunes, and each one of my devices synced with the same iTunes library has different sync preferences.
A new iTunes account won't change anything in this regard. In fact, it will make it worse - whatever the problem is. All apps - all paid and free apps include DRM protection which is tied to the iTunes account used to download the apps. If you create your own iTunes account, when there are app updates for any of the apps on your iPhone that were downloaded with your shared iTunes account will require using that account and password.

  • Can multiple Apple IDs that are linked with Family Sharing all share one "family" iCloud photo library?

We have a family library of thousands of photos. Currently, we are using iPhoto to manage all of these photos, which  We each have our own apple ID, and each take pictures on our own devices, and have just been manually importing them all into the same library. With the new iCloud photo library, will it be possible to set up family sharing and all share and contribute to a "family" photo library?

Create Apple IDs for everyone individually and use that in Settings > Facetime, Settings > Messages, Settings > Game Center but keep the Apple ID used for app and content purchases in Settings > iTunes and App Stores

I haven't used the SiliconDust product, but I have been using a similar product by Ceton, for nearly five years.
By inserting a CableCARD into the tuner, you would have access to the same channels as a set-top box. You rent a cableCARD from Verizon, just like you'd rent a set-top box from them. I have an m-card, which just allows multiple channels to be tuned at once, unlike the older s-card.
You do, however, lose Pay Per View and on-demand programming. For me, it's not a great loss.
The program guide is handled through Windows Media Center, which holds programming data for the next 14 days. You schedule your recordings there. It's also smart enough to reschedule shows, if there's a recording conflict (too many scheduled shows, not enough tuners)
Although you can contunue to use an IR blaster (I use one), you can also get a Media Center companion app from Ceton. It doesn't require a Ceton tuner...it will still control Media Center. The app costs a few bucks, but it's worth it. They make it for Android and Apple, and maybe Windows Phone. It will let you manage your schedules, and use your phone/tablet as a remote control over WiFi.
Buy a big hard drive to hold your scheduled recordings. Expect to use an average of 10-15 gigabytes per hour of HD recording. The beauty of this system, is that you can just add another hard drive whenever you need more space, sonething the STB's won't let you do.
For service in other rooms, use an Xbox360 if you have one. Or, buy a Ceton Echo extender (again, doesn't require a Ceton tuner). Don't use Wi-Fi for your extenders. Wired Ethernet is a must...most wireless won't be able to keep up.
    Hope this helps.

  • Why can't we use iTunes gift cards with family sharing? After Christmas, we now have lots of account credit we can't use. Very frustrating.

Why can't we use iTunes gift cards with family sharing? After Christmas, we now have lots of account credit we can't use. Very frustrating. There is no option found for using account credit.

I just logged out of my daughter's account and back in, and now it works. Deducted from gift card account balance. So I hope this is resolved.

  • Can an Apple gift card be shared among different apple devices in the home?

Can an apple gift card be shared among the different apple devices in the home?

If you mean an iTunes gift card then it is redeemed onto an iTunes account, not a device, so it can be used to buy content from the stores (iTunes, ibookstore, app store, Mac App store) where you use that account - it can't be split onto multiple accounts.

  • How can I organize multiple iWorks documents shared with me via iCloud?

    Hi,
I'm just exploring iWorks for iCloud beta (i4ib).  A friend shared a Numbers spreadsheet with me via iCloud.  I can open it and edit it as expected.  So far, so good.  The two of us plan to work on several spreadsheets like this over the next two months.  Going back to an old email to retrieve the link to each file when we need it "just ain't Apple" if you'll allow me to paraphrase a quote from Happy Feet.
We would like to be able to use iCloud to organize the spreadsheets *someone has shared with us* so we could access them using the same Spreadsheet Manager tool in iCloud that we would use for any other spreadsheets *we have created and stored on iCloud*.  So far I haven't been able to discern how to do so and cannot tell if this is a supported use or not.  Does anyone know how to do this?  Have I just managed to miss it in the hints and help available?
In the mean time I've copied the a link for each of the spreadsheets he shared with me to a folder on my Safari favorites bar.  That work around is suitable for very small collaboration exercises but far from optimal for anyone who envisions using iCloud for collaboration on a larger scale.  I thought I'd ask the question before I tried to submit this as feedback to Apple.
    Regards,
    Elise
PS - I used *bold* to emphasize the difference between a spreadsheet I "own" because I created it and one created by someone else and shared with me.

What you want is not yet possible, so you should use the feedback channel to ask Apple to add it.  If Googledocs is better at this (I think it is from what I have read), you should make that point.

  • How can I see all media others shared with me?

For the first time, somebody shared a photo with me on Ovi. Wow! - Of course, basically it didn't work. I got a text message on my phone saying that:
Ovi by Nokia: friendsnickname has shared a photo with you.
    http://share.ovi.com/mobile/media/friendsnickname.%3emynickname/friendsnickname.10003
When I open this link, I am first asked to input username and password (can't this thing remember me?) - and then I get an error message:
    You cannot perform this action.
Sorry. We are unable to display this page. Media is required.
So, they sent a link that doesn't work on their own system. Fine.Doesn't matter, I thought, because now that I'm identified, I can sure browse the mediaI've been given access to. Like open my friend's profile from my contacts and see what he shared. Or whatever.
I didn't find a way to do so. There's no link whatsoever that takes me to media he shared.
Meanwhile, he tried sending me an email from within ovi, and it seems this time it works. I can see the image when I click on the link in this email (the link looks totally different from the one in the text message.) - Still, there's no way for me to come back in a few days (when I deleted themail) and say: "Hey, I remember this guy had a funny photo he shared with me. I want to see it again" - Right?
Or how would I do it?
Message Edited by benny1967 on 11-Oct-2009 02:36 PM

Well, the person who shared the image is a contact of mine. He was before he sent me the link(s).
Still, when I click on his nickname from my contacts, I see nothing. (I mean, I see some Info, like when he joined Ovi etc., but then there's only:
    Recent media
    No items available.
    Recent albums
    No albums available.
    Contacts
    No contacts available.
Nothing that would lead me to this photo.
I wish I would be in a management position there, for the forst time in my life I feel I want to fire people. A lot of people.
(I agree aboutmultiselect. How braindead is that? Do they want me to delete/move files one at a time???)

  • Had an itunes account I shared with family.  opened a separate account when I got a new phone but can't transfer my music library.  How do I delete new account and go back to original shared account?

I had an itunes account I shared with my family.  I opened a separate account when I got a new phone but cant't transfer my library of music.  I want to cancel new account and go back to original shared account.  How do I do this?

Content is permanently tied to the account it is acquired with.
    Apple ID's cannot be deleted.
Simply sign out of the undesired account and stop using it.  Sign in with the desired account.

  • Can I my iPhoto library be shared with another account?

Having just bought an iMac, I successfully transferred my iPhoto library on my iBook to it. However, the iMac will now serve as the hub for our pics and I'd like the library to be shared by another user of the same computer. I'd like both of us to be able to view and add to the same library.
Any way this can be done?

    Hi Sugith,
SHARING ONE IPHOTO LIBRARY BETWEEN USERS ON SAME MACHINE
You can try one of these three methods:
1- Use iPhoto Library Manager-the paid version
The documentation page will give instructions on how it is done.
2- Sharing one iPhoto library between several users on one machine
3- Share an iPhoto Library in tiger Using ACL's
4- I have also read about ShareAlike
There is no other info on the site about how it works.
I strongly urge anyone wanting to try any of the methods for sharing one iPhoto Library folder among more than one user to backup all iPhoto Library folders before attemptin anything.

  • Home Sharing with family member?

I am trying to get music from my brothers computer onto my computer.  Can we share music with each other if we each have our own apple ids using Home Sharing?  We do live in the same household and are on the same WiFi network.
    Thanks

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Yes you can do that.
Whilst you need to use your own ID's for the iTunes store on each of your devices, you need to use the same ID for home sharing on all devices.
It doesn't matter who's ID you use, but it must be a valid one.

  • Sharing with family

I want to share photos and videos of our kids with close family but have the following problems with what I've found out there so far:
    - Facebook: Not private enough, grandparents don't engage with it, too clunky to post to limited people regularly.
    - Google+: Too many options, not simple enough.
    - Path: Almost ideal but the grandparents don't own iPhone or Android. Needs a web version. If I publish to Tumblr will the entire web be able to see?
    - Everyme: Beautifully simple way of sharing photos by email; doesn't require grandparents to "sign up" to anything or use a new app. However, can't share videos and grandparents end up with no easy way of seeing all the photos in one place, just a collection of emails. Currently what we use but grandparents wish there was a way too see all posts in one place at times and getting them to sign up to Everyme and use the web version is "too much effort".
I need something that doesn't require grandparents having to sign up or use a new app (i.e. that relies on email and web only), updates them via email of new posts (they won't "check" otherwise), allows posting of photos and videos, allows them to see all the posts in one place if they want to (i.e. allows them to see a timeline) but is private for only close family. I guess I need a simple way of publishing a family blog that is simple to post on from iPhone, effortless to use for grandparents and yet private.
Any ideas? Anyone found a good way of sharing a family timeline with technophobic grandparents who just own a PC or iPad at most?
    Ed

Have you considered Dropbox?  Sorry if it doesn't fill all your needs; I admit to not reading your post in all its vast entirety.

  • Applications will not be shared with family sharing mac app store

I wanted to ask why some apps on mac app store after you enable the "family sharing" with another family member if I go to "purchase application tab" next to the name of some application there "can not be shared". what's the point if I can not share activate the app.
    Version: Yosemite 10.10
    Thanks

I am having a similar problem. I get one of two errors: "We could not complete your request. There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (null)" OR "We could not complete your purchase INSTALL_ERROR_DISTRIBUTION_SIGNED_BY_APPLE".
I am having this trouble on a brand new MacBook Pro running OS X 10.7.1. My firewall is off and no virus software is installed.
I can download and update apps on a different computer using OS X 10.6.8 just fine.
    Any other recommendations?

  • Can 4th gen iPod Touches be used with Family Share?

I've 2 under 13 kids who were given 4th gen Touches when friend/sibling upgraded to a 5th.  I want to set up a Family Share for all the common parental reasons... eliminate duplicated purchases within a single household, control app purchases, etc.  The only instructions I see in the Family Share help pages specifically refer to iSO8.  Can a 4th gen be used in the Family Share program?

No. Family Sharing cannot be used on a version earlier than iOS 8, and the 4th generation iPod cannot update to iOS 8.
