Can 2 different iPods use 2 different iTunes on 1 PC?

I have an old iPod classic ( 3 yrs old) and a new Nano. I have a set of different types of songs I listen on each. One I use in my alarm clock so I don't want to use 1 iPod for this purpose.
Can I have 2 itunes apps for my 2 iPods on one PC?

I agree with Chris - method 2 from this article, since you're the only user on the PC.

Let the computer/iTunes download it. That is how Apple has it set up. When you restore via iTunes the IOS is reinstalled on the iPod. Thus, it needs to be on the computer.

  • What is the best way to manage multiple ipods using the same itunes?

    Hi Everyone
i am trying to manage three different ipods through the one Itunes, all with very different tastes, not sure if I am doing it the best or easiest way so does anybody have a simple solution on what you're supposed to do, to keep it all simple!
    Cheers
    Liv

If you have created a new Windows user account you need to log out and then log back in with your original user name. By default each Windows profile will have an independent iTunes library.
If instead you managed to create a new library within the same profile. click the icon to start iTunes and immediately press and hold down the shift key, keep holding until asked to create or choose a library. Click Choose and navigte back to your original which should be at <User's Music>\iTunes.
    Your question as posed was:
What is the best way to manage multiple iPods using the same iTunes {library}?
in which case Selected Playlists is probably the best approach. Simply create a playlist for each device, Alice's iPod, Bob's iPhone etc. and sync the device with the appropriate list.

Hi .. I'm using ipone 4s and ipad3 using 2 different apple id. Can i used the same itunes library for both? Where i can copy thosevpurchased app in ipone to ipad?

    From Here   http://support.apple.com/kb/HE37
I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.

  • Can't get iPod to sync with iTunes

I managed to back-up all my music from my ipod onto my harddrive and upload it into iTunes. Now I have the problem of syncing iTunes with my iPod!
I have Windows 8 a 5th Gen Nano that is at least 4 years old.
I can plug my ipod into the computer and it instantly recognises it on the E drive. As soon as I open iTunes I get a message and the E drive disappears as if I had never plugged in the iPod. I have installed and re-installed iTunes and rebooted my laptop. The message says an iPod has been detected but not identified properly (there is a ! in a triangle).
What do I do to rectify this issue?

Thanks I found this on the discussion board. It solved the problem. I can't find the original source anyway this below explanation did the trick. It was a file that I needed to install and this did the trick.
    Open File Explorer, go to:
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
    Afterwards, look for the file
    “usbappl64.???“
It'll be the one labelled as "Setup Information"
    Right click the file.
Click install. It should only take about a minute. Afterwards it'll say that it was successful.
Restart your computer, and your iPod should sync as normal.

  • Can two different itunes libraries share music on iPad

My husband and I both have our own Itunes accounts and associated music libraries. Mine is on my home computer and his is at work. We just got an iPad for our family. Going forward, we will use his iTunes account to make any new purchases. However, we want to use the iPad as the central hub for all of our music going forward and therefore want to transfer the music we each have in our individual libraries to the iPad. What is the best way to accomplish this? Thank you.

The only way for him to share your iCloud account storage is for him to share you iCloud account.  However, if he does, any data he syncs with the account will be merged with yours and will appear on all your devices.  Also, you would share the same photo stream and iCloud email account.

  • Can two different itunes accounts share one purchased icloud backup storage?

My husband and I each have an iTunes account, I purchased 25GB of memory for my iPad and iPhone iCloud backup for the year and am only using about 5 of that.  He is out of free iCloud memory for his iPad and iPhone and I would like him to be able to take advantage of what I've purchased.  Is that possible, if so how?

The only way for him to share your iCloud account storage is for him to share you iCloud account.  However, if he does, any data he syncs with the account will be merged with yours and will appear on all your devices.  Also, you would share the same photo stream and iCloud email account.

  • 2 ipods using the same itunes library

    Hi
I have just given my hubbie an Ipod Nano for xmas and he already has an old one which he is now going to use just for when he is running.
He wants to use some of the music on his current library on his old Nano and also use all of the music he has on his new larger Nano.
How does he do this so he can update his old nano from time to time but make sure his new nano has all his tunes on it?
    Thanks

    Hello K Barnett,
There are several different ways for handling multiple iPods with one computer or iTunes library. For more help or information regarding these methods, see this Apple support document.
[How to use multiple iPods with one computer|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495]
The way it sounds, your husband can just hook up with new Nano and set it up to sync his entire iTunes library and leave the configurations and settings for the old nano alone and continue syncing it as usual.

  • Can't sync iPod after upgrading to iTunes 11

I had a Windows XP computer with an older version of  iTunes which I synced (by cable) with my iPod Classic (version 2.0).  The XP computer recently crashed and I bought a Windows 8.1 computer on which I installed iTunes 11, and authorized the new computer.  I managed to restore my music to the new computer from backup, but now when I sync, newly purchased tracks are not transferred to the iPod. Also I can't seem to rip from CDs anymore, the "Import" window doesn't open when I put a music CD in the drive.  The tracks in my playlist purchased from iTunes have a "cloud" icon next to them, which I believe means they haven't been redownloaded to my computer but are on the iCloud servers.      I don't understand iTunes 11.  Does iCloud stop devices from syncing by wire?   I don't want iCloud or any new features, I just want my old functions to work!  Help!

Okay! Thanks! Followed the link to that threat and figured out the problem. I had moved iTunes to a sub-folder in Applications (for grouping together as a stack in the dock, something stacks should have been able to do anyway) and when it installed the new version it didn't check where the old one was, it just dropped the new one in Applications.
Everyone else who has this problem double check and make sure you don't have two different versions of iTunes: one in the applications folder and another that your dock shortcut directs to.

  • Can I manage iPod playlists independent of iTunes?

Before iTunes 11 it was possible for me to create playlists, drag files and manage all of my iPod files independent of my iTunes playlists. Now, the only way to manage my iPod music is to do it in iTunes first and then sync. AAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
For someone who has completely different playlists in iTunes than I do on my iPod, you can imagine what a nightmare it is to now manage them all in one place - I have doubled the number of playlists I have to sort through in iTunes not to mention going through additional steps to get the results I want.
Please, please, please tell me this is a settings issue and not yet another horrible change to iTunes. HELP!

    Yes, it will.

  • I have no idea how to update my apps on my iPod using the new iTunes

My iPod Touch says that I have 27 updates which I know is right but when I click to go on the Apps Store and update them it just takes me to a white screen...
So I tried using the newly updated iTunes which I'm not use to yet but I don't have a clue where to find a "Check for updates" link for my apps. I'm finding it diffiuclt to even simple things...
Any help would really be appreiciated!

You can only update via the ipod with ios 5 or later.
You need to update via itunes on your computer as always.

  • HT202213 can two apple ids use the same itunes account?

I'm pretty new to apple products and have an itunes question. My husband and I just bought iPhones and have separate apple id's. We will also using an iPod. Is it possible to use itunes with both id's? Is there any way to share the files between both of us?

If you want to share a single AppleID with a single iTunes Library, then simply sync both devices to that iTunes library using the same user account.
If you want to sync two AppleIDs to one iTunes library, in iTunes on the computer, login and authorize each AppleID, then sync the devices to that common iTunes library in the same user account.
You do not do anything on the device being sync'd itself - it all has to do with how iTunes that you are syncing to is set up and what AppleIDs are authorized there.  You can sync multiple devices to iTunes, just be sure that each device gets a unique device name in the iTunes sidebar.
To then use unique AppleIDs for iCloud and iMessage on a iOS device, first, make an iCloud account with the AppleID you want to use (go to http://www.iCloud.com), then set up that iCloud account on the device with that ID and password.  In iMessage, just log out with whatever AppleID you are using now, log in with the new AppleID and it will reauthorize, now linking that device with the new iMessage account just created with that AppleID (your iMessage primary account ID is always the AppleID used to initially create and verify the iMessage account).
